chapter five
HOTEL CALIFORNIA
◜ Annual Ball ◝
THE TWO OF THEM HAD MADE THEIR WAY BACK, to the hotel. But as they entered the lobby they could heard a song playing throughout it, "The Night We Met" by Lord Huron. When a man approached them and gave Steve a pamphlet. "Hotel's California Annual Ball". An idea popped into Steve's head. He turned towards the tall black haired beauty. Who was already looking at him with an indescribable look.
"Why don't we go change and attend this ball?" He asked her, she furrowed her eyebrows and took the pamphlet from him looking at the invitation, she read it before nodding excitedly. "Okay, I'll see you later them?" He asked her.
"You got it captain." She said before walking towards the elevators to make her way to her room.
Steve smiled looking after her and made his way to the other side of the hotel, to get to his room. Walking down the slightly dark hallway to his hotel room, he could hear voices from the neighboring rooms.
If he didn't know any better it sounded like they were all saying the same thing. "Welcome to the Hotel California", he shrugged it off and thought that maybe that was part of their decoration inspired by the song.
He stood in front of his room, and took out they key to the door sliding it in. When he heard the click and saw the green confirmation light, he pushed open the door. he took his brown leather jacket off and threw it onto the couch. Making his way into the bedroom, he threw himself on top of the bed and looked up at the ceiling a smile covering his pale features.
He decided to take a small nap, knowing that Meara was going to take a long time to get ready. So he shimmied his way up on the bed and found a comfortable spot to lay in. He closed his eyes and inhaled, but he heard the sound of a bell resonate through his walls. The pamphlet said that when the bell rang the ball would be starting, so he couldn't take a nap.
He sighed and sat on the bed rubbing his eyes with his hands. He stood up and walked over to his suitcase, looking for a suit, when he found a black one. He took it out and inspected it, it didn't need to be ironed. So he entered the bathroom and began to get ready. As he was putting on his white shirt, he thought about Meara.
He had never smiled as much as he had that night, not even when Bucky took him on a trip to Lady Liberty, when they were younger. He didn't know why he was reacting the way he did with this one woman, but he wasn't going to question it. He most likely just had a small crush on her, she was very attractive and so was her personality. Everything about her made him smile, she was captivating.
Steve finished putting on his clothes and grabbed the key to the hotel room that he had thrown with his jacket, and went to open the door. But there Meara stood about to knock. A red fairly big and fancy dress decorated her figure. She looked beautiful and Steve looked at her in awe. She had a big bright smile on her now blushing face, embarrassed at how she was caught.
"How did you know where my room was?" He asked her confused.
"I was going to ask you something earlier but you had already left the lobby, and I saw you on this side of the hotel and followed you, but when I went to tell you. You had already entered your room." She replied, he nodded.
"What were you going to ask me?" He asked her, she shrugged her shoulders and looked at him with an awkward smile. "You don't remember." He stated chuckling, she put on an offended face and hit his arm playfully.
"Not funny" She reprimanded him.
"Okay, okay. You look beautiful by the way." He told her, making her turn even redder than she already was, she muttered a small 'thanks'. "Let's go." He said, he extended his arm towards her, so she could link their arms together and the two made their way down the hallway.
They passed the lobby and made their way into the ball room, it was decorated up into the fanciest level. Everyone was dancing in the center of the room, tables surrounding the dance floor and a big chandelier in the center of everything. The dim lights of the candles that were in the chandelier illuminated the room, gold and beige decorations all around the walls. It was the most fanciest event, they had ever attended.
Steve unliked their arms and grabbed her hand dragging her to the dance floor, ignoring her protests. Once they made their way to the center, she went to walk away. But Steve spun her into his chest, her back pressed against his chest and her hair in his face. He could smell her intoxicating smell of rose and vanilla. The pure smell of seduction.
He started moving them side to side by her hand in the rhythm of the music, she giggled. He turned her around towards him and placed his hands on her waist. She placed her arms around his neck and gave him another big and beautiful smile, that made him weak in the knees.
"You're an amazing dancer." Meara told him, he gave her a cocky smile, she rolled her eyes in a playful manner.
"I can't say the same about you." He told her, she playfully glared.
"When did you get so cocky?" She asked him.
"Once I started to hang out with you." He replied, she started laughing. "God, you're so beautiful." He told her lowly, her breath caught in her throat. Meara tried to speak but couldn't, which made Steve smirk. "Cat got your tongue?"
"I don't know where you got this boost of confidence, but I'm liking it." She told him, Steve hummed approvingly.
"Want to get out of here?" He asked her. Meara bit her lip seductively and nodded. Steve grabbed her hand and pulled her out of the dance floor. They both left giggling.
