[Z-day +1 08:05 a.m.] ....

Day 1 has passed since the beginning of the apocalypse began and dead started attacking the living. A jet is seen flying in the air of Japan scanning the city for any survivors as it takes pictures of the streets. However, most of the streets are either surrounded by abandoned cars, destroyed buildings, or overrun by the undead.

Y/n and Rei are seen driving alongside the bridge as the jet fly pass them as it takes a picture of them both with Rei waving at the camera before continuing on.

Y/n: *thought* All that time I read about zombie apocalypse, I never expected to happen but at the same time it was bound to happen sooner or later. In other words, I already know now that this world has already ended. However, ......

Y/n started having flashbacks of the previous events, remembering how it started, the death of his friend, comforting Saya, the news broadcast, escaping the school, the bus incident with Shido and about last night.

Y/n: ....

Rei: Y/n? You haven't said anything.

Y/n: Sorry just remembering about last night. I notice if we keep moving, we'll probably see that same thing happen over and over.

Rei: Really? Yeah, you're right.

Y/n: Forget about it. Let's hurry.

They continue speeding off in the highway.

Y/n: *thought* Of course, I never forgot about it. The first day after the world came to an end, I was responsible for someone's death. I couldn't possibly forget that.

[Z-day 10:32 p.m.] ....

Rei and Y/n are seen looking over the city as they see the whole street overrun by the undead.

Rei: Do you think someone will come and help us?

Y/n: No, not with all this chaos going around the country.

Rei: But why? How can you say that?

Y/n: Remember the helicopters we saw from the school rooftop this afternoon? It's the same deal. No one can be bothered to help us. In fact, we might never at all.

Rei: Never? We might never get any help. Then how are we going to make it through this?!

Y/n: We just have to do what we can. That's just the situation we're in.

Rei tightens her arms around Y/n waist as she places her head on his back.

Rei: Will things ever go back to normal for us. I'm just tired of seeing everything fall apart.

Y/n wraps his hand with Rei as she responds by holding his hand tightly.

Y/n: Don't get me wrong, Rei. I want thing back to normal as well but relying on something that could never happen it pointless. But as long we have each other, along with our friends and family then we can make it anywhere.

Rei smile as she blushes a little.

Rei: I'm glad you haven't change that much since we were in kindergarten always thinking about others before yourself. Even though you mostly keep to yourself when you want to be alone at times.

Y/n: Heh, same to you, Rei.

Rei: What do you mean?

Y/n: I still remember when we were kids you always acted shy around others but friendly to people close to you. But look at you now a strong and independent person who take no shit from others. And I find that amazing about you.

Rei looks at Y/n with admiration before she covers her face with Y/n back as she smiles with a huge blush on her face and tighten her hold on Y/n waist. However, the moment was ruined as they both turn around to hear moaning seeing a horde of undead following them from behind.

Rei: We should go.

Y/n: Yeah, hold on tight.

Rei holds on to Y/n as they sped off together to get away from the horde.

[Z-day 11:45 p.m.] ......

Police officer: Don't get out of your car under any circumstances! I repeat! Don't get out of your car under any circumstances!

Meanwhile back at the bus Y/n group are seen stuck in a traffic jam on the highway as their progress on reaching the bridge is slow.

Saeko: If we keep moving at this rate, we won't be able to make it at the other side of the bridge on time.

Saya: We progress at roughly one kilometer an hour. I wonder if we can even make it over the bridge before morning at this rate.

Saya looks down at her lap as she still has the walkie-talkie, Y/n gave her before he left to follow Rei. She thought about using the walkie talkie to contact Y/n but remembered what he told her.

Saya: *thought* I want to contact Y/n to see if he's ok, but I have to wait until he contacts me first. The last thing I want is getting him endangered if he's somewhere surrounded by undead and I don't want Shido getting his hand on this radio so he can use it as leverage against us. Y/n..... you better be safe.

Suddenly she was interrupted by Hirano stomach growling.

Saya: Oh, shut up! Put a lid on it!

Hirano: Put a lid on it? But I'm hungry.

Takashi: But didn't Y/n give us back at the school.

Hirano: Yeah, but that was hours ago.

Suddenly gun shots are heard as police officers are seen shooting down couple of undead. Two female students from Shido group cover their ear as they shudder in fear.

Kawamoto/Taniuchi: Ah!

Shido weakly goes over towards the two scared student while holding his crotch which the bleeding stops but he looks more paler than usual.

Shido: There, there. We're safe in here. We'll be okay.

Kawamoto/Taniuchi: Get away from us murderer!

Shido: M-Murderer?

Y/n group look at Shido in disgust as they know everything that he done to Rei and that other student left behind at the school to die.

Hirano: Should we take care him?

Takashi: Not right now, not with officers patrolling outside.

Saeko: Beside we need to save our strength for tomorrow if we decide to leave the bus by foot.

Shizuka: I wonder if Y/n and Rei are ok, out there.

Takashi: We managed to get out of school together with his help. So, with Y/n by her side they should be ok until we meet them again.

Saya: *thought* You better be ok, Y/n. I swear if you're not.....

Saya clenched on the walkie-talkie like her life depended on it.

[Z-day +1 00:23 a.m.] ....

Back with Rei and Y/n they continue driving through the silent night of Japan as there was no sign of life anywhere in the empty streets. Only abandoned buildings, shops, and restaurants that remain as Y/n stop the bike to inspect the situation.

Rei: There's no one here.

Y/n: Either they ran away, or they died.

Rei: If they died, they'd be walking around!

Y/n: Then they went to chase after living people. This situation is getting worse by the day.

Rei: Hmm....... huh?

Rei spot something up ahead.

Rei: Look, Y/n!

Y/n turn to look where Rie is pointing at spotting a pair of headlights turned on from a police car.

Y/n: License? Nope. Helmets? Nope. Bike? Stolen. He's gonna arrest us.

Rei: Don't tell me you're afraid of a police car after beating up so many of them.

Y/n: Of course, I'm not.

However, when they got to the car. The officers were already dead with a garbage truck crash into them.

Y/n: Are you serious?

Rei got off the bike as she makes her way toward the car.

Y/n: Rei, wait! There's gas leaking from the car. Don't get close!

Rei: We might find something useful.

Y/n: I'm not saying we shouldn't check for resources. I'm saying take precautions and here.

Y/n pulled out his knife and hands it to Rei.

Y/n: Take my knife and make sure to stab those officers in the head to be sure they're definitely dead. I don't want you getting surprised attack by one of them pretending to be dead.

Rei: Alright. I won't take long.

Rei returns to go check on the police car as she approaches it. Before she goes in to search for supplies, she stabs the two officers in the head to make sure their defiantly dead.

Rei: That should do it.

Few minutes later...

Rei comes back with some stuff she gathered from the police car as she presents them to Y/n.

Y/n: So, we got a pair of handcuff with one set of keys, a baton, and standard police revolver.

Rei: Do you know how to use that type of gun?

Y/n picks up the revolver and inspects it.

Y/n: Yeah, I used one of these guns before but there a problem for me.

Rei: How so?

Y/n: Revolver are very powerful, but the recoil will throw off my aim, they're very loud so it will be problem if it attracts undead to us, and last is the ammo capacity.

He opens the revolver ammo chamber seeing its full.

Y/n: It only have five shots so reloading will be hassle unless I have a speed loader. I should give this to Hirano when we regroup on the other side of the bridge.

Rei: Here, Y/n.

Rei hands him five more bullets as she wipes her hands clean from the blood stains.

Rei: It's from the other officer. His gun wasn't in working condition, but you can still use the bullets.

Y/n: Wow, I'm amazed.

Rei: I've seen the one my dad uses. And do you think I'd be afraid of blood after what we've gone through?

Y/n: I wasn't thinking you were scared at all. I was thinking just how fast you're adapting to these situations that it amazes me.

Rei: Thanks, Y/n.

Y/n and Rei get back on the bike as Rei hold out her spear.

Rei: Wanna throw this away?

Y/n: Guns aren't exactly reliable if you don't know how to aim. Plus, it's better to have melee weapons for close combat if we run out of ammo or we need to sneak around without making too much noise.

Rei: But you feel a bit safer now, don't you?

Y/n: Yep! As long I have you and everyone from our group backing me up then I can do anything.

Rei: I feel the same way if I have you by my side, I can manage everything better.

They drive off toward their next destination unaware that the undead were starting to come out from the stores from the noise from the bike.

[Z-day +1 03:23 a.m.] ....

They later stop at a gas station realizing their almost out of gas and needed to refuel.

Rei: Self-Serve I wonder if they still have some gas.

Y/n: Every gas station has at least enough gas to fill up 1,000 cars. I'm sure they do.

Y/n walk over but notice something wrong.

Y/n: Shit.

Rei: What is it?

Y/n: This is a self-serve station. We need to slide a card or put in some cash.

Rei: Then do it.

Y/n: I left my wallet back at the school in my school bag after all this started. What about you, Rei?

Rei: Well, my purse is back in my bag.

Y/n: That's not good.... Oh, wait! My emergency fund.

Rei: Emergency fund?

Y/n: Hand me, my backpack.

Rei hands him his backpack as he opens a small pocket inside the backpack pulling out some cash.

Y/n: I always carry emergency funds incase if I ever forget my wallet or needed spare change.

Rei: *giggle* You're always prepared for anything.

Y/n: Is called being ready for anything.

Y/n then place the money in the machine as he starts filling up the bike.

Y/n: Wait right here. Just scream if something happens. I'm going to look for some supplies for us to eat, I won't take long.

Rei: Alright be careful.

Y/n leave to go inside the convenient store as he enters cautiously.

Y/n: Is anyone here?

He pulled out his knife as he taps lightly on the metal door to make an echoing noise to draw out any unsuspecting undead and waited a few second before moving further.

Y/n: Better find something nonperishable that I can take like chips, water, anything that doesn't have an expiration date.

Meanwhile...

Rei is thinking to herself as she waits for Y/n to come back.

Rei: *thought* Out of everyone, I've met. Y/n is the only person who hasn't changed that much or better yet got better as the years went by. Not only that he's always been there for me whenever I needed someone to discuss with about my problems. It gets me wondering why I haven't dated him instead of Takashi and Hisashi.

Unknown to Rei someone was watching them from the shadow as this person mover closer before rushing forward at Rei from behind.

Inside the convenient store....

Y/n was finishing backing up all the supplies they need for the road.

Y/n: That should be enough that we need. Now, I need to go back-

Rei: Aaaaahhhhh!!!!

Y/n: Rei?

Y/n quickly put on his backpack and rush out of the store to see what's going on.

Goon: Hey! Stop moving!

Y/n: Rei, what's wrong?

However, he sees Rei being attack by a craze survivor who has knife pointing at Rei neck.

Goon: Hey bro! Your girl is pretty cute!

Y/n: Let her go!

Goon: You dumb? Like hell I'd do that. If I want to survive in this monster filled world, I need a woman.

Y/n: Are you insane?

Goon: Am I insane? Damn right I am! My family all turned into those things right in front of me! I-I had to smash every single one of their heads! My father, my mother, my grandmother, my little brother Even my sister, who's still in grade school! How the fuck could I stay sane? Hahaha!!

Rei pushes Goon away and tries to make a run for it.

Rei: Y/n!

But instantly get grabbed again by Goon before Y/n could react on time.

Y/n: Rei!

Goon: Her tits and her voice are mighty fine! And these are p-pretty big. Hey you fuck her, right? Every night, don't you? Or wait You don't? Are you an idiot?!

Rei: Y/n!

Goon: Hey, toss me that backpack! If you don't, she's dead. And I'm taking your bike.

Y/n: It's out of gas. Plus, I don't even have the keys on me.

Goon: Bullshit! I saw you putting in money earlier! Now toss the damn backpack! And the keys! Now!

Seeing no other choice Y/n comply to the survivor request by removing his backpack and tossing it behind Goon as it made a loud thud noise for nearby undead to hear from a distance.

Y/n: There's the backpack, now let her go. All we want is to look for our family that's all.

Goon: Weren't you listening to a thing I said?! If they're in town, then your parents met the same fate as mine! Now toss me the keys!

Y/n: Let her go first, I'm not leaving without her.

Goon: Shut up! Do you want me to kill you too?!

Y/n: Like you have the balls to kill someone with that puny ass knife of yours.

Goon: What did you say to me!? Shut up! Or I'll seriously fucking kill you!

Goon waves his knife up in the air leaving himself open using this chance Y/n rush forward and pulled out his gun, pointing it at Goon shoulder area.

Y/n: Keep this in mind asshole, I've fired a gun before so at this point-blank range it impossible for me to miss.

Goon: Wh-What if it ignites the gasoline?

Y/n: It's a lot better than giving you, my girl.

Y/n pulled the trigger, shooting the Goon in the shoulder sending him back as he let go of Rei. Rei rush toward Y/n as he embraced her into his arms in relief.

Rei: Y/n! You saved me!

Y/n: It's ok, Rei. I got you don't worry.

The Goon start screaming in pain as he started bleeding from his wound.

Goon: FUCK! Bl-Blood BLOOD! How dare you-

Rei walks over to him with anger in her eyes.

Rei: Be lucky I'm not the one who shot you.

Y/n: Don't do it, Rei.

Rei: But!

Y/n: We don't have time to deal with him. After all that noise we made was loud. Leave him for the dead to deal with him.

Rei: Fine....

Rei gets on the bike with Y/n as they both turn to look at Goon with angry expression.

Goon: Hey! You're just gonna leave? You're gonna leave me here?

Goon: What kind of fuckers are you!?

Y/n hand Rei his gun as she uses it to shoot Goon in the kneecap to prevent him from walking before handing it back to Y/n.

Goon: Ah! My fucking kneecap!

Rei: Thanks, I really needed that.

Y/n: You're welcome. Now let's go.

Y/n and Rei drive away from the gas station as the Goon begs for them to come back.

Goon: Wait, come back!! COME BACK!!!

But his cries was ignore until he notice noises coming behind him as he turn around to see undead surrounding him with one of them launch at him for the kill.

Goon: Aaaaahhhhh!!!!

[Z-day +1 04:23 a.m.] ....

An hour has passed after the altercation with the Goon at the gas station. Y/n and Rei were driving down the street of a neighborhood. However, he started to noticed that Rei was beginning to fall asleep so he decided to pull up to an abandoned house.

Rei: Y/n, why did we stop here?

Y/n: I noticed you were getting tired, Rei. It's going to be dangerous to be driving this late at night. Come on, will rest here for the night and find the others in the morning.

Rei: Yeah, I was hoping you would say that. I was getting tired with all this driving.

Y/n: However, we may need to sleep in the same room together just to watch each other backs. B-But I'm not trying to invade your personal space or anything it just a precaution.

Rei just responded by giving him a smile.

Rei: I don't mind if we sleep in the same room together~ I think is a great idea~

Y/n: Alrighty then, let's get inside before any other survivors or undead notice us.

After Y/n hid the bike inside the garage and cover it with a plastic sheet. Both of them enter the house but made sure to make some noise to draw out anything that's hiding inside.

Y/n: Good, it's clear. Come on, let's go upstairs.

Rei: Ok.

Y/n and Rei go upstairs to check the rooms but found nothing. Y/n went to check on the bathroom to see that the water still working for now at least.

Y/n: Hey Rei, the water is still on. If you want, you can take a bath while I check out the rest of the house for any undead that maybe hiding.

Rei: Are you sure?

Y/n: Don't worry I'll be patrolling the hallway for any of them. You just go take a bath, I'll feel more comfortable once this place is properly secured.

Rei: Okay. No peeking~

Y/n: Who do you think I am, Rei?

Rei giggled just at him before she entered the bathroom and started taking a shower.

Y/n: Time to search this house top to bottom.

30 minutes later.....

After 30 minutes of searching, he found no trace of undead anywhere. He made sure to barricade both the entrance and the exit to make sure nothing gets in.

Y/n: The house is finally secure now. Time to go back upstairs.

Y/n went back upstairs as he took a seat on the bed as he waited for Rei to come out front the shower. Afterwards he hear the door clicking as he sees she got out of the bathroom wearing only a towel.

Rei: I'm done, Y/n.

Y/n: .........

Rei sees Y/n reaction as she notice him staring at her body. She gave smug smile as she pretended to be embarrassed.

Rei: You pervert~

Y/n: I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to stare or anything!

Rei: *Giggle* Don't worry~ I don't mind if you want to take a peak~

She said as she lift a bit of her towel to show some skin of her breast.

Y/n: T-That's ok! I'm going to take a shower, now!

Y/n went into the bathroom as he start taking a bath while Rei started getting dressed for the night.

Rei: He so easy to tease sometimes~

Later after his bath, Y/n stepped out wearing a (f/c) tank top and shorts. However, when he entered the bedroom, what he saw Rei wearing shocked him for a moment.

Rei: Hey, what are you staring at this time, pervert~?

Y/n: Nothing, it just you look really beautiful in your casual clothes.

Rei: Really, thank you~

Y/n: Come on, we should eat something before we go to bed. I made some Instant Ramen I got from the store.

Rei: That sound great, I could use something to eat after the long day we had.

They started eating dinner together as they ate in silence, one of them spoke first.

Y/n: I still believe this all happened in one day.

Rei: Yeah, it get me wondering how this all started.

Y/n: Who knows how it started but what doesn't make sense is how they come back after dying. If it was an infection than there's a chance for a cure but you can't cure the dead.

Rei: I miss my mom and dad, I hope they're ok.

Y/n: I'm sure they are if they're stubborn as you are then they're fine especially your mom. Didn't you tell me, she was part of a biker gang.

Rei: Yeah, she was the leader of it before she met my dad.

Y/n: I bet she doing ok and causing mayhem for the undead to do anything to her.

Rei: *Giggle* I'm sure she doing that right now.

They get done eating dinner as Rei went to close the curtains and got into bed as she snuggled herself against the sheets. Before Y/n got into bed, he blocked the bedroom door with the dresser to make sure no one sneak in. When Y/n was done, he got into bed with Rei turning to the opposite side away from her.

Couple minutes later....

Some time passed in silence before Rei spoke first.

Rei: Hey, Y/n. Are you awake?

Y/n: Yeah.

Rei: Can I ask you something?

Y/n: Sure, ask me anything.

Rei: Can you hold me?

This surprise Y/n a bit.

Y/n: Are you sure about that, Rei.

Rei: Yes, after everything that's happened today, I really want to be held by someone....can you hold me, please?

Y/n: Alright.

Y/n turn around to look at Rei as he move closer to her. Rei snuggles up close to him as she buried her face into his chest.

Y/n: Is this better, Rei?

Rei: Yes, thank you.

Y/n: Don't worry, Rei. I won't let anything bad happen to you again. I already made a promise and I'm going to keep it.

Rei: I'll hold you to that.

Y/n: I'm sure you will. Goodnight, Rei.

Rei: Goodnight, Y/n. *thought* I love you~

As Rei began to fall asleep in his arms. Y/n closed his eyes as he started having flashbacks of the events with Hisashi before his death.

Flashback

Hisashi: Thank you, Y/n. Please take care of Rei.

Y/n: I will.

End of Flashback

Y/n: *thought* ............ I tend to keep my promise till the end.

Y/n later drifted off to sleep until the next morning.
