Alcedo Atthis

NAME :

Adéle Lilith Incathyn

ANIMAL :

Common Kingfisher

AGE :

27

GENDER :

female

SEXUALITY :

heterosexual

FACE CLAIM :

Carmen Ejogo
(try to imagine without makeup, etc.)

Adele actually stands exactly at 5"7, which is considered a somewhat average height back in those days. She has a smooth, caramel skin tone and an ectomorph body build with a rectangle body shape. She has prominent eyes which behold the colour of a rich chocolate yet mesmerising brown. Her hair is short, just about touching her shoulders and the colour of ebony black, with a hint of a few natural curls here and there.

POWERS :

' Kingfishers feed on aquatic insects such as dragonfly larvae and water beetles and small fish ranging from 1 inch to 5 inches long, such as sticklebacks, minnows, small roach and trout. In winter, kingfishers feed up on crustaceans including freshwater shrimps.'

Based on that feed of information on common kingfishers, this relates to one of Adéle's power which is marine communication and marine mouth. Marine communication for her means that she is able to communicate with marine life, however only specific marine life such as dragonfly larvae, water beetles, crustaceans and small fishes only and not other marine life. Marine mouth means that Adéle is able to feed on those exact types of marine life, even while they're supremely fresh and alive, which somewhat increases in her nutrition and health when she's able to eat those kinds of fishes whilst they're still alive and fresh.

' Kingfishers have very keen eyesight. The kingfisher has monocular vision (in which each eye is used separately) in the air and binocular vision (in which both eyes are used together) in water '

This means that Adéle has incredible, sharp and enhanced eyesight—both could be available in use of air and in water.

PERSONALITY :

Adéle is a strict, supremely determined woman who certainly has a fiery temperament. She is extremely faithful and loyal, yet she can't promise those qualities to the law. She is a very opinionated woman and loves to have her voice be heard. She isn't afraid nor is she shy to stand up for herself and to stand up for others, making her a rather courageous and brave woman all at once. Yet her being rather opinionated is also, in a way, her weakness. She can be sort of judgmental at times, sometimes judging others based on how they act immediately and also at times judging them at first impressions.

Adéle admires many women who have attempted to stand up to the laws and to have their voice be heard, making her a huge feminist. She is prim, proper and utmost elegant as well as courteous, despite not being raised in the best environment when she was younger. She is highly determined and ambitious, always wanting to reach her goal and removing any obstacle in her way to do so. This is often a bad thing for this means that Adéle just doesn't realise when to stop and when what's enough.

She is also highly intellectual, analytical and clever, despite her being a woman of colour especially. She is like the reality's version of Sherlock Holmes mixed with Virginia Woolf. However even if she's quite smart, Adéle can be often filled with naivety. She can't read the obvious, even if she's ever so intelligent. Adéle is also very sophisticated and up-to-date, as sometimes she is one to speak very quickly in order to explain one of her original ideas.

STRENGTHS :

I N T E L L I G E N T

Adéle, as mentioned above, is really smart and clever, always usually finding a solution to a problem and being able to think quick on her feet during any kind of rushed situation. She has a brain and she knows how to use it.

S O P H I S T I C A T E D

Adéle is often a very up-to-date woman, usually having a great sense in culture and fashion. This also means that she is still rather smart and has a high standard of knowledge.

B R A V E

Adéle is rarely ever afraid of anything, and is always ready to be apart of an adventure, if that adventure is a reasonable thing to be apart of. She is courageous, lionhearted, and certainly isn't afraid to speak out her mind nor back down from an argument.

WEAKNESSES :

N A I V E T Y

Sadly, Adéle can be filled with such naivety at times, despite how sophisticated she is. She can't read the atmosphere at times and mostly has to ask the people around her who knows what's going on about what is going on because sometimes, she just doesn't understand. So yeah, she's pretty gullible and clueless sometimes.

T O O D E T E R M I N E D

Being ambitious and determined isn't such a bad thing, but it can be. Adéle always has that determination lingering in the back of her mind about being on top and at least rising to the top, hoping to pass by any obstacle among the way. This can be considered one of her weaknesses because being too determined means that Adéle can't exactly learn how to stop, when to stop, nor when to learn from her mistakes.

Q U I C K S P E A K E R

Adéle is filled with such imagination and creativity as her brain always has room for so many original ideas. Unfortunately it is because of this that Adéle becomes a messy person at handwriting and a quick speaker (fast talker), therefore having others needing to ask her to repeat what she said because of how quickly she can talk.

BACKGROUND :

Adéle Incathyn did not have the best, memorable childhood nor did she have a flawless family. She had a rough life and lived a hard life, however it was because of her determination and the promise she made did she rise to the top and is currently a middle class upbringing.

She was born at home with the stormy weather raging outside, considering that in those days, there were barely any well-done hospitals and if they were, well they wouldn't invite people of colour in there anyways. It was a miracle that she was born healthy, and it was a miracle that her mother managed to barely survive after the long birth. 3 years later, her mother suffered from giving birth again but to her younger sister, yet from a miracle, both had survived and are currently healthy of now.

Adéle's father worked as a fisherman, collecting and fishing fishes for the upper class or at least the middle class. He was never allowed to bring home any fish that he had managed to caught back home to his family, otherwise it would be breaking the law back in those days, apparently. This obviously made life so much harder for Adéle's family to earn food, but they managed. Her mother was a mere housewife, just staying home and taking care of Adéle and her younger sister, Margaret. Though sometimes, she would too try to sell any available products at home that would help them produce some money or at least trade it with something more valuable. Being a family full of colour obviously meant that they didn't have the best life.

Although a few months after her father had got into the job and became known as a trusted man towards all of the upper classes, he had begun to break the laws and the rules of being a fisherman by bringing back home some of the fish that he had caught. His family were obviously very worried that if he himself were caught, for if he were, then he would be executed without hesitation—only because he was a person of colour and the higher class people wouldn't bother to hear his side of the story. Though it was all fine and good for another few months, Adéle's dad eventually got caught bringing fish back to his home, which was apparently illegal as all the fish he had caught were meant to be provided for the upper class people.

Right before he was supposed to be executed, society had taken up enough pity in order for him to say his final goodbyes to his family. During then, He told Adéle something that she will never break, nor forget. He said: "Promise me, that you will go ahead and show the world who you truly are, because you are so much more than just a mere person of colour."

And that was the last thing that Adéle had ever promised him, and she never saw him again. However, that was just when she was merely thirteen years old when her dad had died. When she was fifteen years old, she managed to learn how to educate herself and become an independent girl, observing how the upper class people would calculate stuff and work out complicated things. As she was educating herself, she soon began to develop an ambition to become a writer being apart of a publishing company.

When she turned twenty-one, Adéle had the craziest idea ever and that was to showcase her original ideas and great plans to society, or at least the people who own the publishing company in order to fulfil her dreams and to earn a spot at the company. However because she was a woman of colour, she knew that she was going to be discriminated quickly and immediately if she were to showcase her ideas to them as a person of colour a.k.a herself. So she decided to disguise herself as a white woman that day by using powdered products and such. As she managed to get an interview with the people, and because of how well her ideas and future plans to bring to the company were excellent, the publishing company have decided to give her a spot in their company as a local worker. Adéle couldn't have been more ecstatic that day, being one of the first woman of colour to earn a well-off job.

However a few months later, Adéle decided to come out of hiding. She showed the publishing company her true self and who or what she actually was—a woman of colour. There were of course, many arguments and objections thrown across each other, however it was proven that because of her potential to become one of the best writers the company has ever seen after a long time, they made an exception. Therefore, Adéle is now known as a middle class upbringer, making her entire family, including her father who's probably in heaven, proud.
