appearance | Levy is a petite mage with a slender build, her height slightly lower than average. She has shoulder-length blue hair and eyebrow-length bangs that is usually tied up with a colourful (often yellow) bandana around her head. She used to have neat, straight her but the more dangerous adventures she went with her friends caused her hair to now become naturally wavy and more wild, with a bunch more locks hanging down from her face. Moving on to outfits, Levy prefers wearing dresses and tank tops which allows people to see the Fairy Tail guildmark on her left scapula. When performing tasks such as researching, she gets into serious business and ties her hair up into a bun, while wearing a pair of glasses called Gale-Force Reading Glasses. Her eyes are the colour of cocoa powder and her skin is fair.

personality | Levy is a sweet, joyful and upbeat person who gets along with most of her guildmates. Her kind spirit is shown through her reluctance of not fighting her friends "just for fun" on usual days whenever the Fairy Tail mages would brawl with each other. She is also quite a forgiving person which is shown when she reconciled with Gajeel Redfox for torturing her and her team as a victim before in the Phantom Lord arc.

She is also characterised by her love for reading which automatically makes her a bookworm by nature. This is also the reason why she and Lucy Heartfilia became great friends : their mutual love for reading. Levy is the only person who is able to read Lucy's novel with her consent, showing their trust levels and how faithful they are to each other by not telling each other's secrets. Sometimes, however, the blue-haired mage can be competitive as shown in the start of the S-Class Promotion Trial, she rewrote Freed Justine's tunes for what it seems the whole boat, but admits it that it was meant for herself and Gajeel. She is also one of the maturer people in the guild as seen in the S-Class Promotion Trial (besides not having a brawl with her guildmates daily) where she is the first to abandon it just for the sake of unifying her guild members, unlike some other people. This makes Levy McGarden a just and kind-hearted person who is selfless overall.

history | Before she entered Fairy Tail, Levy was a lonely gal. She grew up in a poor family who had to beg for money in the streets. She was an only child and to her parents, a miracle in their lives. Levy was raised to have a heart of gold, helping everyone when in need. Both of her parents weren't mages themselves, although her grandmother was a Solid Script mage, hence why it has skipped a generation and the powers have been passed down to Levy. When she had begun to show signs of magic, her parents thought that it was best to send her to the greatest guild in Fiore; Fairy Tail.

Levy reached there when she was eleven and her first friend there available was Cana. Both of them usually played building blocks with one another and chess. In fact, Levy was one of the mages from the current Fairy Tail generation who joined Fairy Tail early. To prove this, she was present to greet the Strauss siblings when they joined Fairy Tail. However, it is unknown as to how the Shadow Gear team banded together, both Droy and Jet clearly have had a crush on Levy and both asked her out on the same time, only for Levy to flat out reject them both. There might be a possibility that at that time, Levy didn't want their friendship to be ruined and therefore rejected them without a second thought.

magic | SOLID SCRIPT MAGIC

Truly true to her love for books and reading, Levy's abilities are also based around writing and words : Solid Script, a type of Letter Magic, which allows her to create words in the air and make them solid, often throwing them at enemies with different effects depending on the word she chose. Her ability has grown more powerful over the years as before, she had only used a hand or two of hers to generate these spells. In X792, she can now generate words using her feet which gives her more flexibility with her magic.

Solid Script : Silent

By moving her right arm with her index and middle fingers outstretched in a certain pattern and then extending her left hand, Levy can generate the word 'Silent' a few meters away from her. This can be used to stop an outer source of high-pitched noises, cancelling sound-based attacks.

Solid Script : Fire

Levy extends her right arm, with her middle and index fingers outstretched, to the right, describing an arc before her. This allows the word 'Fire' to appear in the air, the word composed of actual flames. This word can be used in a variety of ways such as defence and offence. For example of defence, Levy uses this spell to create a shield of flames in front of her in the battle with Kawazu. Another example of offence is that Levy sends the word directly to the target making flames erupt around them.

Heat Spell

Levy first crosses her outstretched arms before her and starts spinning around. Thus allows her to compose the word 'Fire' now composed of blue flames, and us subsequently thrown at the target.

Solid Script : Iron

Levy is able to create the word 'Iron' in the air in front of her. This, obviously, is composed of strong iron and when she summons it, the font for the letter 'o' is stylised in the shape of a heart.

Solid Script : Guard

This is a defence spell which allows Levy to write it in the air, thus it makes a protection barrier which protects her from an opponent's attacks.

Solid Script : Hole

Levy writes the word 'hole' on the ground, which changes into a trap. This spell also helps drain any overflowing particles, however only the letter 'o' in the word turns into a large hole rather than the entire word.

Solid Script : Storm

Levy writes the word 'storm' which creates a strong gust of wind. However this spell can become really powerfully clashed with another spell similar to Cana's Explosion.

Solid Script : Oil

Using her right hand, Levy writes the word 'oil' in the air which causes a large amount of black oil to gush out from the word. This spell is able to immobilise the enemy.

Solid Script : Stone

As usual, Levy generates the word 'stone' in midair and throws it towards her opponent.

Solid Script : Air

Levy writes the word 'Air' in midair and the world ignites, engulfing a person's head with an air bubble to provide breathing in underwater situations.

Solid Script : Markings

Levy creates a luminous path ahead of her which she can follow if she's lost or in an unknown location. The markings resemble an encircled 'V' followed by a series of periods.

Solid Script : Water

Levy writes the word 'water' immediately sending an orb which transforms into water towards her opponent.

Solid Script : Thunder

Levy points her fingers to the air and shoots the word 'thunder' at her targeted enemies. She is able to hit multiple targets with the bolts of lightning that are formed within the word.

Solid Script : Drill

Levy holds out her hand and writes the word 'drill'. The word itself begins to rotate, digging holes into the ground or into rocks.

Solid Script : Bullet

Levy waves her arm and creates the word 'bullet' from which a series of energy pellets is fired towards her enemy.

Solid Script : Shine

Levy spreads her arms out in order to generate the word 'shine' in the air. The word itself gives out a bright shining light around her, the spell itself said to have holy properties.

Solid Script : Mask

Levy can create the word 'mask' on her mouth that can be used to defend herself from inhaling any air pollutants.

Solid Script : Sword

Levy writes the word 'sword' in the air using an appendage to hurl the word at their target in order to slice it, which has such sharp qualities, the sword itself being keen enough to cut clean through solid rocks.

Solid Script : Wood

Levy conjured the word 'wood' that is made from wooden material in the air.

POLYGOT

The blue-haired mage is famously known for her field in languages as she can also translate several ancient scripts. Examples include being to reverse the ancient spell of body-switching (though not immediately) and dispelling Freed Justine's ruins during the S-Class Promotion Trial.

EXPERT INFILTRATOR

By taking advantage of her short structure, Levy has capably shown to be able to infiltrate and gather information from organisation, Avatar, by herself without using magic. Despite easily getting through the ranks, she admitted that she had difficulty getting out when she was briefly apart of the Magic Council's Custody Enforcement Unit.
