When the Meteorite that created Lightning L-Drago and Storm Pegasus crashed down to Earth, smaller pieces broke off and scattered across the lands, forming craters and the Beys hidden inside. They have been kept hidden until the day comes for them to come together and save the world from ultimate destruction. These Beys are: Star Equuleus, Wave Dolphin, Rock Leona, Flash Rabbit, Lightning Eagle, Shadow Wolf, Wind Lyra, God Draco, Venom Hydra and Dusk Ceros.

In the small, isolated, mountain town of Ketchum, Idaho (even before the town was even there) one of these small pieces from that one Meteorite crash landed there. For centuries the Bey hidden inside slept within its crystal cocoon and hidden under the clear blue waters of the Frank Church - River of No Return Wilderness, that is, until one boy happens to find the Bey that will be known as Star Equuleus.

Drake Logan trained with Star Equuleus every day and night until he mastered the powerful Bey. Drake's younger sister Emily loved to watch him Blade and wants to be a Blader just like him, and when that time came, it came at the worst possible time. After winning a tournament, one of Drake's opponents takes his lost too far. Going after Drake while Emily was with him, the two boys get into a physical fight that ends with Drake ending up in the hospital. Before falling unconscious, Drake past Star Equuleus down to Emily, telling her to look for Equuleus' partner. To look for Pegasus.

At first Emily didn't know what her brother meant, but when she gets a mysterious message to come to Japan and the meaning behind her brother's last request would made clear. So she packs up her things and heads to Japan, and it's there that she not only finds the Bey Pegasus, Equuleus' partner, but forms a strong bond with its Blader, Gingka Hagane. It's with Gingka that Emily will realize that she's part of a much bigger picture.
