Chapter Twelve - Tempest
After forming the alliance with Emperor Belos, Van Helsing along with Luz and her friends met with Emperor Belos along with the Coven Heads to discuss the threat of Dracula. Van Helsing was quick to take charge.
Van Helsing: This is a threat that this world has ever faced. If we are to destroy Dracula, then we must....
Vernworth: My apologies, Human, but we answer only to the Emperor.
Van Helsing: My good sir, I have dedicated my life to the study and destruction of these creatures. And Dracula is among the most powerful and most evil of these creatures. If you wish to see this land liberated of this evil, you will heed my words.
Belos: Stand down, Vernworth. Professor Van Helsing acts with my authority. He is the foremost expert in Vampires. Professor.
As Vernworth stands down, Van Helsing resumes.
Van Helsing: As we speak, Dracula is building his forces by converting the people of this land into Vampires. If we can destroy Dracula, then we can free those poor souls from his terrible influence.
Darius: And how do we do that?
Van Helsing: As powerful as Dracula is, there are limits. When my allies and I encountered Dracula in the Blight Manor, we encountered a Coven Guard who appeared to be Dracula's living servant. Someone to watch over Dracula's Coffin in the day.
Belos: Hhm...before the disappearances began occurring, two Coven Guards never reported back from their mission in the Titan's Knee.
As Belos said this, Van Helsing began to make the connection. It didn't take long before Van Helsing came to a conclusion.
Van Helsing: It would appear that during our final confrontation, Dracula and I ended up in different places. While I ended up in that desolate cave, Dracula must've ended up in the Titan's Knee. From there, it was only a matter of time before someone awakened him.
Eda: And that means....
Van Helsing: The Knee may be Dracula's lair.
Darius: Good. So we gather our forces and assault the Knee and destroy Dracula.
Van Helsing: It is not so simple. While there are limits to Dracula's power, that doesn't make him any less dangerous. However, our latest encounter with Dracula has proven that the....magic of this place has amplified his power. And with his forces building up, we are low on time.
Belos: Might I suggest a war on two fronts? It is clear that Dracula has two strongholds: the Knee for himself and the Blight Manor for his followers. I will gather my forces and launch an assault on the Blight Manor to battle against Dracula's forces. You can use my assault to take the fight to Dracula in his lair. As a token of good will, I will be sending the Golden Guard to aid you.
Eda: Thanks but no thanks. We can handle this ourselves!
Hunter: You'll need my help, Owl Lady. Dracula threatens my home too.
Luz: I...I hate to admit it, but the Golden Guard is right. The last time we tried to destroy Dracula ended badly for us.
Van Helsing: I concur. Even without his army, Dracula is dangerous, even more so with the magic of this place empowering him.
Eda: Fine, but I don't like this.
As Luz and the others hesitantly agreed to allow Hunter to go with them, Luz turned to Belos, concerned about the innocent people who were now under Dracula's influence.
Luz: What about the people Dracula has...converted.
Belos: Lethal force will be a last resort, Luz the Human. Professor Van Helsing is not the only one well versed in the study of Vampirism.
At this point, Luz didn't trust Belos. Despite this however, Luz knew that Belos would do everything in his power to avoid killing anyone who could be a supporter of his regime. With that, the two groups waited until nightfall. Van Helsing and the others made their way back to the Owl House to wait for Belos to begin the attack.
Eda: I still can't believe we're teaming up with Belos!
Hunter: You may not believe it, but the Emperor wants what's best for the Boiling Isles.
Eda: This isn't the Emperor's Palace, Golden Brat. We're in no mood for more preaching.
Van Helsing: Enough, Miss Clawthorne. We have much bigger things to deal with.
Luz: Professor Van Helsing is right, Eda. We need to focus on Dracula.
Amity: But...how can we destroy him? He was too powerful for us last time.
Van Helsing: Dracula overcame us because we underestimated him. Because I underestimated him. But now that I have an understanding of his power, I now know what must be done to destroy him.
As Van Helsing says that, he gives everyone stakes, crucifixes. He then instructs Willow to use her Plant Magic to grow Garlic and Wolfsbane. Once she does so, Van Helsing instructs them to grab a handful of them and stuff them in their pockets.
Van Helsing: Good. Now you are all have the means to defeat Dracula.
King: These things reek!
Van Helsing: That's the point, my little friend. Garlic and Wolfsbane are toxic to a Vampire. This will give us the advantage we need to destroy him. And with his power, we'll need every advantage we can get.
With that, Van Helsing was preparing everything in his arsenal and decades of Vampire study to destroy Dracula once and for all. In that moment, Van Helsing along with Luz and her friends would wait until Emperor Belos and his forces launched an assault on Dracula's forces.
