Chapter Seven - An Evil Revealed

As Dracula continued to slowly build up his power base, Luz had brought her girlfriend Amity as well as friends Willow and Gus to meet Van Helsing. The three young Witches were amazed at the fact that they were meeting another Human. But it was clear that Van Helsing was different from Luz. He was a Human from a different time. Van Helsing himself was pleasantly surprised by the three Witches. For the longest time, he had held beliefs that Witches were evil creatures no better than Vampires. But these three along with many others in the Boiling Isles showed no malevolence in them. But the meeting was interrupted by shouting.

???: MITTENS! MITTENS!

Upon hearing this, Luz and the others rushed outside to see Emira and Edric outside.

Amity: Emira? Edric? What are you doing here?

Emira: Something....something happened at the house.....

Amity: What do you mean?

Emira: Some...some guy broke into our house! He...he did something to Mom! It...it was like she was under some kind of spell!

Edric: This guy bit on Mom's neck!

Upon hearing this, Van Helsing immediately recognized the action described. Immediately, Van Helsing knew that a Vampire was involved. After that, he immediately suspected Dracula. Remaining silent, Van Helsing reached into his bag and pulled out a lithograph of Dracula's face. Without hesitation, he showed it to the Blight Twins. Upon seeing Dracula's face Emira and Edric backed away in fear, recognizing the Vampire's face.

Emira: That's....that's the guy who bit Mom!

Edric: How did you....

Van Helsing: There is an evil in the world. There are dark, awful things. Occasionally, we get a glimpse of them. But there are dark corners; horrors almost impossible to imagine... even in our worst nightmares. A great evil now haunts this place. That horror's name is Dracula.

Eda: Great. More Vampire talk.

Van Helsing: Before my...slumber, I was engaged in mortal combat against Dracula in the halls of his castle. I had hoped that I had finally destroyed him for good. But now it seems that Dracula has risen from the grave. As we speak, Dracula is seeking to bolster his numbers, claiming countless souls to enslave them.

As Van Helsing spoke of the danger that Dracula posed, it was clear to Luz and her friends that Dracula was a monster the likes of which they had never encountered before. Van Helsing himself was horrified to learn that his mortal enemy Dracula had returned. And he didn't even want to imagine what kind of power Dracula would wield if he had the Magic of Boiling Isles at his disposal. Despite this, Van Helsing maintained his calm composure.

Van Helsing: Dracula poses the greatest threat to this world. But I have fought Dracula many times. The study of creatures like Dracula has been my life's work. And all that study has gifted me with a vast wealth of knowledge on how to combat Vampires. For now, we must prepare. It will not be long until Dracula makes his next move.

With that, Van Helsing took charge of the efforts to combat Dracula. Luz and the others would join Van Helsing in his mission to destroy Dracula. Meanwhile in the Emperor's Castle, Emperor Belos finalizes his plans for the Day of Unity. As he does so, Kikimora approaches him and bows before him.

Kikimora: Emperor Belos.

Belos: What is it?

Kikimora: I regret to report to you that several Coven Guards were found dead in the outskirts of Bonesborough.

Belos: Hhm....I did not expect the Human or the Owl Lady to resort to killing this soon.

Kikimora: I don't believe it's the Human or the Owl Lady. These guards weren't killed by magic. They were killed by....unknown means.

Belos: Elaborate.

Kikimora: The bodies we've recovered had two bite marks in their necks and have been drained of blood.

Upon hearing this, Belos took great interest in Kikimora's words. What Kikimora described was familiar to the Emperor.

Belos: It would appear that a Vampire lurks in our midst.

Kikimora: A Vampire, my lord?

Belos: A undead monster that lives off the blood of the living. They are unnatural abominations that prolong their own wretched lives by feasting off the living like a parasite.

Kikimora: Do you believe the Human is involved?

Belos: No. Not even the Human is foolish enough to join forces with a Vampire. We must focus our efforts solely into the hunting and extermination of the Vampire.

Upon hearing this, Kikimora was taken aback by this. It was clear to her that Belos had an immense hatred over the Vampire.

Kikimora: Does this creature really pose that much of a threat?

Belos: The Vampire is a monster the likes of which the Boiling Isles has never seen before. If left unchecked, a Vampire could plunge the Boiling Isles into complete chaos. It is vital that we do not underestimate this monster. The Day of Unity is almost upon us. I will not have anything getting in the way of this monumental event. Mobilize our forces into hunting and exterminating this vermin. At day, you will search for it's haven. At night, you will search for the creature. Now go.

With that, Kikimora left the throne room to follow Belos's orders. As Belos was left alone, he pondered on the news that a Vampire was in the Boiling Isles. What Belos didn't realize was that this was no ordinary Vampire as Belos thought. In reality, this was the most dangerous Vampire of all: Count Dracula. And Dracula's plans for the Boiling Isles had been put in motion.
