Chapter Four - Dracula Has Risen From The Grave
As Van Helsing awoke from his slumber, members of the Emperor's Coven have been tasked by Emperor Belos to investigate the ice caves. As the Coven Guards entered the ice caves, they speak to one another.
Coven Guard #1: So the Day of Unity is almost here. Excited?
Coven Guard #2: You kidding? Of course I am! I've been waiting a long time for this moment!
Coven Guard #1: You'd think that everyone in the Boiling Isles would be on board with what Belos is planning.
Coven #2: They're just a bunch of Wild Witches that want us to go back to the Savage Ages. Like the Owl Lady!
Coven Guard #1: Speaking of that, isn't it kinda crazy that Lilith abandoned the Emperor's side? I always thought she was one of Emperor Belos's top enforcers.
As they investigate the ice caves, the Coven Guards began to feel cold. At first, they thought it was simply the cave, but something felt off. As they explored the ice cave, the ice floor collapsed, causing one of the Coven Guards to fall.
Coven Guard #1: Renfield!
As Renfield crashed into the ground, he cuts his head. When Renfield falls into the chasm, he crashes onto the frozen waters where Dracula's body was trapped under ice. Renfield's fall cracked the ice trapping Dracula's body. The blood from Renfield's head wound drips into Dracula's mouth. After a moment, Renfield regains conscious. His eyes then fall on Dracula's body. Shocked and horrified, he looks up to see his comrade above him.
Coven Guard #1: Renfield! Are you alright?!
Renfield: I....I'm alright! There's....there's a frozen body!
Coven Guard #1: Hold on! I'm lowering the rope!
The Coven Guard lowers the rope to Renfield. Renfield grabs the rope and begins climbing back up. Meanwhile, Dracula had been revived by Renfield's blood. Revived, but still weakened, Dracula slowly emerges from his ice tomb. Dracula then removes the stake Van Helsing used to impale him during their fight. As Dracula was revived, he looks around his surroundings. His senses were slowly coming back to him. He looks up to see the rope. Meanwhile, Renfield reunites with his comrade.
Renfield: I....I saw a body....
Coven Guard #1: What are you talking about?
Before Renfield could answer him, Dracula emerges from the chasm and confronts the Coven Guards. His vision sees only the blood vessels of the Coven Guards.
Dracula: Blood....
Renfield: The body......
Coven Guard #1: You don't scare us, Wild Witch! We are members of the Emperor's Coven!
The Coven Guard draws his sword and charges at the Count. Dracula easily overpowers the Coven Guard. As Dracula holds the Coven Guard by the throat, the Vampire was overcome with his thirst for blood. Gnashing his fangs, Dracula bites down on the Coven Guard's throat, drinking his blood. Renfield could only watch in horror as his friend was drained of his blood by Dracula. When Dracula finished draining the Coven Guard of his blood, he tosses the lifeless corpse into the chasm. Immediately, Dracula noticed an odd taste in the blood. It tasted unlike anything Dracula had ever drank before. The blood had an almost exotic taste to it. He then turns to Renfield who was paralyzed with terror. Curious, Dracula removes the Coven Guard's mask. The first thing he noticed were Renfield's pointy ears. It was clear to the Count that something was off.
Dracula: What manner of creature are you?
Renfield fell silent, shaking with terror. Without warning, Dracula grabs Renfield by the throat. He casts his eyes on Renfield and mesmerized him.
Dracula: Who....are....you?
Renfield: R....Renfield....
Dracula: Your blood tastes...different. What manner of creature are you?
Renfield: A....Witch.....
Dracula became curious at the Coven Guard's answers. Even back home, witches were few and far. However, Dracula sensed no deception in Renfield's words. Dracula then drops Renfield as the hypnotized explorer knelt before his new master. Dracula then begins exploring the ice caves with Renfield following him. As they explored the castle, they came across an ancient castle. The architecture of the castle was drastically different from all the other castles across Europe. The sight of the castle reminded Dracula of his own castle.
Dracula: Where am I?
Renfield: You are in the Boiling Isles, my master.
Dracula: That name is unfamiliar to me. Where in Europe are we?
Renfield: Europe, my master?
As Renfield said this, Dracula took note of the words of his new servant. His mind soon falls back to his last battle with Van Helsing. He remembers Van Helsing plunging the stake through his chest, missing his heart. Dracula could sense that something was wrong.
Dracula: I require a Human servant....a sentinel to watch my coffin while I sleep. You will do....Renfield.....
Renfield: I serve you, master.
Dracula then glances over to the emblem on Renfield's cloak.
Dracula: Tell me of the emblem on your cloak.
Renfield: This is the mark of the Emperor's Coven. The Emperor's Coven follows the will of Emperor Belos. He rules the Boiling Isles.
At this point, it became clear that Dracula was no longer in Transylvania.
Dracula: If I am no longer in Transylvania, near my castle, it must be due to forces outside my control. Events that occur, just before Van Helsing could strike the killing blow. Very well. Take me on a tour of this....Boiling Isles, Renfield. The night is young and still I thirst....
In that moment, Dracula had risen from the grave. With Renfield as his servant, Dracula would stalk the Boiling Isles, preparing to once more prey upon the living.
