Chapter 13

Izuku's POV~

The next hour was spent with both of us just talking and being normal around each other for once. He didn't let go of my hand the whole time. I was not complaining though. He actually ended up opening up a little bit more and seemed fairly comfortable with me. He even made a joke. An actual joke, not just a sarcastic comeback. It was... a pretty good hour.

But all good things must come to an end.

We pulled up to the hotel we were staying in for the time being, and Sho checked us in. I don't really like interacting with other people. I'm an Angel with social anxiety. Don't ask how or why. I guess God just loves to screw with me.

Do you think he just knew I would despise him, so he decided to give me all of the inconveniences he could? I feel like that's something he would do. He's a very passive aggressive entity.

Once everything was all sorted out, the nearly didn't give us a room because we both look like teenagers, because we are, we headed up to our room. I threw my bag down onto the bed and was about to throw myself as well, when Sho grabbed me by the hood of his own sweatshirt and pulled me right out of the room.

"Sho, can't we just relax for five minutes?" I whined as he continued to drag me down the hall because I refused to walk.

"I'm gonna rip my own hood at this rate." He said, more to himself than me. I looked up at him with a puzzled face, but it was cleared up when he scooped me into his arms two seconds later.

"Ah!" I yelled in surprise.

"And no, we can't relax, we were supposed to be here an hour ago." He said, not even looking at me as he continued to walk, getting on the elevator and pressing the button for the lobby.

"Can I, at least, ask why you're carrying me?" I asked him. I had shifted slightly to get more comfortable, and now had my arms wrapped around his neck.

He turned to make eye contact with me, causing me to realize just how close we actually were. I took a sharp intake of breath and held it as I waited for him to respond.

"I didn't want to rip my hood by dragging you." He said in his monotone voice and turning back to stare straight ahead. I let out my breath as he walked off the elevator and through the lobby. We were back to out car in a matter of two minutes.

What the hell had just happened? At this pointed I think he's just messing with me. Who was I trying to kid? Of course he was messing with me. Not only do I think I'm a completely unworthy candidate for love, but he's a Demon Halve. If you think they're pranking, it's probably because they are. They aren't evil, but they love pranks and things like that. Slight inconveniences that make your life harder and theirs more amusing. It's in their DNA.

He set me down on my own two feet, next to the passenger door of the car. I quickly got in, not wanting to be the reason we got any more behind schedule. "Where are we going now?" I asked him. I knew it was somewhere in New York, but I had no clue where.

"The very outskirts of the city. It'll take us a little while to get there, so I hope you're comfortable." He said, an air of teasing in his tone. See! He's joking! It's a new skill he acquired while my back was turned or something.

"Aren't I always?" I replied back, not looking forward to even more time in the car.

After a little while of just the thrum of the engine and the soft hum of the radio, I decided to speak up. It was an awkward quiet, so I found it pretty easy to start up a conversation. "So what's the game plan? Are we just gonna like- tell them to stop and then leave? I feel like that won't be very productive. We can only fight them if they get violent first, so we shouldn't even consider that a possibility. Can we arrest them? I don't know where they'd go. Do we have like a Halve jail for rogues? If we don't, we should really get one. What if-" I started to mumble, trying to think of the best possible course of action we could take. There weren't a whole lot of options.

Thankfully Sho started to talk before I got to deep in my own head.

"Little Angel? You still there?" I vaguely heard him say, but it was enough to shut me up.

I looked over at him slightly confused. I was barely affecting by the nickname by now, so I just ignored it. "Huh?" I asked him, wondering where he thought I would have gone.

"I've been trying to get you to stop rambling for the past minute. You were completely zoned out." He said, amusement shining in his eyes. Well at least the grey one. It was the only one I could see from the passenger seat.

"Oh, um, sorry about that. Habit." I said, feeling overly embarrassed. I had always hated my mumbling, and I wasn't the only one. Kacchan probably hated it more than any one, and he didn't like to let me forget it.

"Don't worry about it." He said with a shrug, seeming not to mind the annoying habit. "What I was trying to tell you, is that this group isn't a big threat. They haven't escalated to harming humans yet, so we just have to talk them down. Try and get them to come back to UA. If we can't, we tag them with these." He said, grabbing little disks from the backpack that was on the floor in the back.

"What'd those do?" I asked him, grabbing one and inspecting it.

"Careful, don't poke yourself with it. They attach to a Halve and, for a lack of better term, teleport them straight to the big man himself." Sho explained, pointing up, in the direction of Heaven. "He'll deal with them from there."

I looked at him in surprise. Halves rarely dealt or talked directly with God. He was obviously a very busy guy. We only ever really see him our first day in Heaven, or if we work our way up the ranks and he thinks we deserve some type of reward. I've heard rumors that a few Halves were able to go back down to Earth and live a normal human life. At that point, that rumor was one of the few things keeping me going. The prospect of a human life.

"Is he- does he- what's going to happen to them then?" I asked, slightly worried that they'd get eternal imprisonment or he'd just destroy their souls and they'd disappear into nothing.

"Don't worry, he's not going to hurt them. I heard Aizawa talking with some other AA's, he's gonna put them on a probation of sorts, up in Heaven, where he can keep an eye on them." Sho explained, clearly being able to tell that I was thinking the worst of the All Mighty God. (I sincerely swear that this isn't a hint at All Might being God. All Might is just a normal AA. One of the best, but not God)

I let out a sigh of relief. If that wasn't the case, and God really did intend to harm them, I wouldn't do it. I would give up the whole mission. I wasn't about to deal these teenagers a fate worse than mortal death.

"Good. Let's do this then."
