xiv. knockoff college era nick miller
( ... last summer )
'WHAM! BAM! I AM! A MAN!' Daisy's head bobbed lightly to the music as she made her way carefully through the busy house party. She hugged the bottle of Pink Whitney and a carton of raspberry lemonade to her chest, while also attempting to balance two plastic cups in her grip.
"Why?" She pouted once she made it to the door that lead to the back yard, annoyed that it was closed. With a determined huff, Daisy moved back and lifted up her leg, using her foot to unlatch and slide open the screen door.
"I got it, Jules! They didn't have any..." She trailed off, her jaw dropping at the sight of her best friend making out with a short haired brunette boy. "What is happening?"
Juliet broke away from the boy, quickly turning to face Daisy with a giddy smile, "thanks babes!" She got up, helping her friend put all the drinks down on the table before sitting back down. "What didn't they have?"
Daisy sat down on the other side of the boy, giving him a glare for sitting in her spot. "They didn't have any regular vodka left. However, they thought that they could hide this bottle of Pink Whitney from me! They tried but they failed. This must be better than regular vodka because it's pink." She leaned forward, pouring some of the vodka in the cup, followed by the pink lemonade. Leaning back with a hum, Daisy looked at the boy again, "who's this?"
"Oh!" Juliet let out a snort, pouring her own drink. "I forgot about him," she sat back, laughing even harder at the boy's insulted look. "This is Bobby—"
"Robby."
"Sorry. Daisy, this is Robby. Robby, this is my best friend Daisy."
Robby turned to Daisy with a small award smile, "hey." His smile faltered at her unimpressed stare.
"Hi." She said shortly, looking over at Juliet with a confused look. It's not normal for her friend to start making out with strangers. "Is everything alright with your brother?"
Juliet blinked at her, "how the fuck did you know that?"
"You're my best friend. I can read you like an open book." Daisy said, leaning over Robby to get closer to Juliet and grab both her hands. "You would only be making out with a stranger and risking mono if something was wrong."
The blondes eyes started to water, leaning forward to rest her head on Daisy's shoulder. "He hasn't been home in a week and he's not answering his phone."
Robby leaned as far back as he could into the couch, wondering if they forgot that he was there.
"Did you check all his usual spots?" Daisy asked.
"Yes. None of his weird friends have seen him."
"Is it possibly he went to visit you know who?"
Juliet moved back quickly, staring at Daisy with wide eyes. "How did I not think of that? Of course that fucker is with Silver."
"You know who?" Robby asked, jumping as the two girls turned to face him with wide eyes. "Sorry. None of my business... should I leave? Or..."
"That old guy has issues." Juliet huffed, leaning back into her seat with a frown. Her brother's relationship with this rich older man named Terry Silver has always concerned her. Not only is it because Silver is so much older than her 25 year old brother, but there is something about his eyes. He has crazy eyes. "We'll drive up there this weekend. I swear to God, if Thomas got sucked back into that nightmare of a relationship I will kill him and then myself."
"Yo, Robby!" Two older boys approached the three, sitting down on the couch across from them, putting an end to the conversation. "Who are these sexy ladies."
Daisy's nose scrunched up in disgust while Juliet didn't even notice that they were there, lost inside her own head.
Robby sighed in exasperation before looking at his two friends who he has been trying to avoid all night with a look of annoyance. "This is Daisy and Jessie."
Juliet slapped him lightly on the shoulder, "you wound me, Bobby." She joked, smiling wildly at him as he laughed. "I deserved that. I'll admit it." She shook off her earlier worry, now feeling some comfort at the fact that they had an idea of where Thomas was.
"Did I die? Am I dead? Am I in hell?" Daisy asked, terrified as Juliet and Robby began to make out again. Who is this girl and what did they do to her best friend Juliet Henderson?"
"I'm Cruz," One of Robby's friends said, sending Juliet a flirty nod. This one has shaggy (more so greasy) brown hair and a sad excuse of a moustache.
"Okay..." Daisy trailed off, staring at the older boy with an intense look, causing him to shift uncomfortably as his friend laughed. "Has anyone ever told you that you look like a knockoff college era Nick Miller? But like, not as cute?"
"...I don't know what you're saying to me."

( present day)
"I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW IT WOULD BE POSSIBLE to break a bunch of bricks with just your fist?" Daisy asked as she stacked said bricks for her Sensei to practise on. "Let alone break them once they are set on fire?"
"Don't question the masters methods, Pinky." Johnny said, throwing his head back to drink his beer while Daisy does all the hard work.
"Are you gonna help me? Or..."
"I'm gonna be doing the hard part, I think you can handle stacking them."
Daisy squinted her eyes up at him, "I get this feeling that you're mad at me." She huffed, standing up and placing her hands on her hips, "why?"
"I'm not mad." Johnny rolled his eyes, leaning back to chug his beer before roughly chucking it away. "I just hate that you and Henderson are throwing away your potential just because things got a little hard."
"Miguel is such a tattletale." Daisy groaned, annoyed that they are having this conversation again. Ever since Miguel let it slip to Sensei Lawrence that Daisy and Juliet missed the last two classes, not because they were sick, but because they just didn't want to be there anymore, he has been in a mood.
The concept of 'giving up' is not in the Johnny Lawrence guide of being a badass. Juliet is his second best fighter— not only does she have the strength of a winner, but the mentality of one. Daisy, however, doesn't have either. But he believes that with time, Daisy could work her way up to kick some major ass.
"I know you and that Larusso girl breaking up hit you hard." Johnny started, giving the black haired girl an awkward pat on the back. "But moping around won't help you get back in the game. You know what will?"
She thought for a moment, "channeling my negative emotions and using them to make myself stronger?"
"No. Growing a pair of balls." At the blank look she sent him, Johnny laughed. "I'm just kidding!"
With a role of her eyes, Daisy grabbed her bag and made her way towards the door of the dojo. It was only her and Johnny there today, considering he gave everyone performing tonight at valley fest the day off. Since Daisy is not up to participating at the moment, she has been helping Sensei Lawrence and his weird old creepy friend prepare.
"See you tonight, Pinky!"
"Asshole."
"You know it."
—
"HAVE YOU ALWAYS BEEN A GINGER, THOMAS?" Daisy asked from the backseat of the truck, looking at Juliet's older brother in confusion. Usually, Juliet would drive them, but today Thomas wanted to see his sister's karate demonstration. He felt bad that he wasn't able to make it to the All Valley because of work— so, now he is determined to attend most (if not all) of Juliet's future karate events.
Thomas snorted out a laugh, not taking his eyes off the road as he nodded his head. "Yes, Daisy. I've always been a ginger."
Daisy blinked, her jaw dropping in shock. "Seriously? I thought you were blond?"
"Maybe you just didn't notice the colour of my hair because it took you ten years to even make eye contact with me?" He asked, a smirk on his face as his sister laughed and the girl he saw as another younger sister huffed in the backseat.
"It's not my fault. I have issues."
"We know, babes." Juliet turned around, sending her best friend a smile, "i bet you miss those ten years of not having to look at his fugly ginger— ow!" She was cut off by a cuff to the back of her head.
"Moving on," Thomas said, turning into the parking lot of valley fest. "Make sure to get a kick in on that fucker with a Mohawk— haven't met him but he seems like an ass."
"...you have met Hawk before though?" Juliet gave her brother a weird look as she unbuckled her seat belt, "Like fifty times, dude."
"Really? I think I'd remember that."
"You know Hawk is Eli Moskowitz, right? They're the same person."
"You're fucking with me right?" Daisy laughed at the shocked look on the older boys face. "What happened to the poor guy?"
Juliet shrugged, "mental breakdown?"
"Checks out."
"Did you not wonder where Eli has been for the past year?" Daisy asked.
Thomas shrugged, "I thought he just moved."
—
"PINKY! COME OVER HERE! I got something for you." Johnny shouted at the girl, waving her over to him and away from the rest of the Cobra Kai's. They were currently waiting for Miyagi-Do to go on stage, but right now there was a "hippy freak" (as Johnny called him) performing.
"Sensei?" Daisy skipped over, her arm linked with Juliet's.
"Henderson, is your name Pinky?" Johnny asked, sending the blond girl a stern look.
"Nope. Last i checked Daisy isn't named Pinky either."
Juliet shrugged, sending Johnny's glare a smirk in return.
"Scram!"
"Yes, sir!" Juliet gave him a mocking salute before skipping back over to Hawk and Miguel.
"What do you have for me?" Daisy asked, bouncing on the spot in excitement as she eyed the box in her Sensei's hands.
"Alright, Pinky, you are an important part of this dojo." Johnny took a deep breath, seeming to work out the courage to say what he wants to say. "I know that this afternoon i was a bit of an ass towards you about your... feelings—" Johnny winced, struggling on getting the word out. "I almost want to beat myself up."
Daisy giggled, "don't stop now, Sensei! Keep telling me about how awesome I am."
"Now don't be putting words in my mouth." She continued to stare at him expectantly. "Fine... I got you something that you have been asking for constantly. Me and the rest of the cobras all chipped in to buy you this." He reached out to hand her the box. "Don't make a big deal about it."
Daisy grabbed the box, looking down at it in surprise, before looking back at Johnny with a big grin growing onto her face. "Really?! Awww, that's so sw—"
"Just open the box!"
"Opening it." Daisy laughed, ripping off the poorly tied pink bow before lifting up the top. She screamed (causing Johnny to jump back and cover his ears), grabbing the pink gi from the box and holding it up, looking at it with sparkling eyes.
"Does that mean you like it?" Johnny asked, looking at the teen in confusion.
Daisy just squealed, throwing the gi to Juliet (who approached at the sound of her scream) before running towards Johnny at full speed and jumping into his arms. However, not prepared for this response, resulted in them both tumbling to the ground.
The rest of Cobra Kai approached at this point, all laughing at the display of the small girl taking out their Sensei. Well, all except for one, John Kreese, whose face was stone cold.
After watching how soft not only Johnny Lawrence is for this girl, but the majority of the cobras as well, he knows that she poses a threat. She makes them weak. The veteran knows that there is no room for weakness in this dojo, and one way or another, Daisy McMaster has to go.

"ALL RIGHT, ALL RIGHT, ALL RIGHT!" A lady announces to the crowd as she walks on stage. Moon, Demetri, Marley, and Thomas are in the crowd to see Cobra Kai's demo. "Coming up next, I have a treat for you. Please direct your attention to the LaRusso Auto booth for a presentation from Miyagi-Do karate!"
The crowd moves over to face the booth as the lights dim for the presentation to begin. Two shadows appear, moving slowly, in synch. They stop, people clap, they bow.
"Is there going to be any fighting?" Moon asks the three with her.
"I think so," Demetri responded. Though he didn't sound so sure.
"When people think of a karate dojo, they think of kicking ass." Marley said, watching the performance with a bored look on her face. "Not yoga and meditation."
The lights come on and suddenly three figures are visible. Mr. LaRusso grabs a bo staff and starts fighting with Sam and Robby, who dodge and block his hits.
"That's called a bo."A man speaks from behind the group. "That's what Donatello used when he.." The man moved his corn dog around to mimic a bo staff. "He was my favourite turtle, so..."
"You spit on me." Thomas gave the man a look of disgust, wiping at his shoulder.
"Shit, sorry!"
"And now, time for the grand finale!" Daniel announces, walking off the stage. As he returns, wheeling a cart with a bunch of ice blocks stacked on it, the lights and sound system cut out.
"Cobra Kai!"
Everyone turns around to where Hawk and Miguel are leading two lines of Cobra Kai students to the stage across, chanting as they do so. Rock music blasts through the speakers as the crowd moves away from the Miyagi-Do stage and instead moves toward the Cobra Kai one, cheering loudly.
The Cobra Kai students start to fight each other— adding dramatic flips and falls to really entice the audience. Juliet and Miguel are currently fighting each other, with Juliet sending a winning spinning kick at Miguel's face. She smiled bashfully out at the crowd as she heard her brother cheering for her.
Daisy comes on stage, wrapping a blind fold around Aisha's head, before running back off. Aisha lets out a yell before breaking a bunch of boards blindfolded.
Hawk is next. He made his way towards the edge, reaching down and grabbing Demetri by the back of his shirt, pulling him up. Hawk hands him a board with a smirk on his face. Demetri closes his eyes as the blue haired boy moves back before running forward, jumping in the air, spinning, and then breaking the board.
"Cobras, light it up!" Johnny yells, moving back as Juliet pours the gasoline and Daisy lights the stack of bricks on fire. They definitely added too much gasoline as the flames shot up quite high. From up close, they can see where it singed the older man's eyebrows. However, to Johnny's credit, he didn't react, ending the performance by breaking all the bricks.
Juliet and Daisy fail to hold in their laughs at the glare sent their way. When he took a step towards them, the two girls quickly run to join the rest of the Cobra Kai students who are lined up, looking out into the crowd proudly as everyone chants their dojo name.
Daisy managed to make out a familiar girl with dirty blond hair in the crowd. She perked up once they made eye contact, throwing a shirt the girls way.
Tory smirked, reaching out to catch the shirt. Tory made sure to look down to hide the fact that her smirk was turning into a large smile and her face was beginning to heat up.
"Cobra Kai! Cobra Kai! Cobra Kai!"
—
"TORY! TORY! TORY WITH A Y!" Daisy shouted through the crowd, running towards the girl at full speed. For the second time in the past hour, Daisy has run at two people and jumped into their arms. The only difference being that Tory was able to catch her.
"Woah, girly!" Tory laughed, spinning the shorter girl around before gently placing her down.
"I am so happy that you're here!" Daisy said, smiling wildly. "I was worried that you wouldn't get Moon's DM! Since you don't work at Micheal's anymore, I thought that I would never see you again. Which would suck! Cause I really really wanted to see you again because you're so pretty, and you scare me a little, which I kind of like—"
Tory grabbed the Daisy lightly by the face, causing her to stop rambling. "I'm going to kiss you, is that okay?"
Daisy just started at her with wide eyes for a moment, her lips puckered because of how her face was being held. After a moment of shock, she snapped out of it, nodding her head eagerly.
Removing her hand, Tory leaned down and connected their lips. She smiled into the kiss as Daisy lifted herself onto her tippy toes to wrap her arms around her neck.
Too wrapped up in each other they didn't noticing that fight going on between Miguel and Robby. Juliet looked completely exhausted as the two pushed each other, while Hawk cheered them on, shoving handfuls of popcorn in his mouth.
Sam was also oblivious to the fight. Instead, her attention was focused solely on her ex girlfriend kissing another girl. All the anger for Cobra Kai ruining their demo completely faded. The anger was replaced with a deep feeling of sadness and longing. She couldn't hold in her tears, nor could she hide how completely heartbroken she was at the sight. Sam knew one thing for sure— that all of this was Cobra Kai's fault.
