There are six characters you need to know about for the beginning of this book. I will try and post pictures of them throughout the story.

Main/Important Characters

The first character you will need to know about is Rei. She has a dark grey pelt with a white underbelly. The underside of her tail is dark brown, her left ear is dark brown, and fur near her eyes is dark brown and her eyes are light brown like her mother's. She is a small and determined pup. She likes to do things most female dogs don't like to do. She is a Gerberian Shusky. Her mother and father love her as equally as her three brothers, but when she is chosen for a dangerous job they are worried for her because she isn't the strongest of the litter. Sadly, they don't get to make the decisions- the humans do.

The second character you need to know about is Jock, Rei's father. He has worked with the K9 Patrol since he was Rei's age. He is where she gets her German Shepherd bloodline from. He is a mostly black German Shepherd with dark brown markings and hazel eyes. He is strong, full of faith in his family, and quite smart. Jock loves to play with his pups, but he is rarely at home to be with them or Bleau.

The third is Bleau. She is Rei's mother and Jock's mate. She cares deeply for her family- especially her pups. She is a light brown Husky with light blue eyes and a white underbelly. She is scared for Rei because of her strong determination and hope. She is also worried about Rei because she senses something will go wrong in the future.

The last three you need to know about are Rei's siblings. Rex, Twix, and Veilor. Rex is the oldest. He is light brown with dark brown markings and green eyes. Known as a Golden Shepherd. He is strong, smart, and fast. He is the one who taught Rei to stay strong. Twix is the runt of the litter. He is white with light brown and dark brown markings and deep blue eyes. And he has a curled tail. He is known as a Panda German Shepherd. He is very slim, giving him a speed advantage. He isn't as strong as Veilor and Rex, but he is smarter. He can think of ways to get out of trouble quickly. Then there is Veilor. He is stronger than the others but is also a big softie. He taught Rei how to trust. He does like to tease her and Twix about their sizes and strength, but he does love them both. He is a Black Sable German Shepherd. Of course, these pups aren't full German Shepherd, but they got most of their looks from their father.

And the last important character for the beginning is a female Border Collie with one blue and one Brown eye. Her pelt is black and white with some brown pots. She is always getting into trouble, but she is Rei's best friend. She is always running away from her warm home and ending up in the pound. She doesn't like her parents and turns to Rei for help a lot of the time. But usually, she handles it herself. Rei's mother doesn't like B.C. so she forbids Rei to go near her, afraid that Rei will be separated from her and will start making 'bad decisions'.

Secondary/Background Characters

Of the humans, there is Isabella. She is the mother of Jake and Drew and the wife of Mason. Her appearance consists of green eyes and long light brown locks. She has fairly toned skin. She is always pampering Rei because she is the only female of the litter.

Drew is the oldest of the two siblings. His eyes are hazel and he has darker hair than Isabella, but not as dark as Jake's. He goes to college so he isn't around often. His favorite pup is Rex.

Jake is the youngest, aging around sixteen years old. He has darker brown hair and dark blue eyes. He enjoys playing with all of the pups.

Mason is the one who works for a living. He works with Jock in the K9 Unit except he is in charge of bringing them where they need to go and then fighting alongside them. He enjoys working with Jock and he enjoys his job. He has black hair, brown eyes, and a scar on his wrist that is in the form of a bite mark.

Lastly, Sheriff Charles. He is the Sheriff of the town and gets to choose what dogs join the K9 Unit. He has a scarred up face, light blue eyes, and orange hair. His personality is mixed up. Sometimes he's happy, sometimes he's sad, and sometimes- he is just pissed to the core. Usually he is very kind, but he knows when to get stern.
