Still Lucas's POV

It looked like Maya was doodling something in a journal. I smiled. I had always liked Maya's doodles.
I shook my head and started to think. What do I do? Maya most likely doesn't remember me.
But I couldn't stop thinking about Riley.

She's really pretty. And she doesn't kick me out of her house for no reason.
But I couldn't help but stare at Maya.
"Hey Lucas. Are you like, staring at Maya?" my best friend Zay asked.
Oh, I forgot to tell you about Zay!
He's my best friend. I met him back in Texas when I was 4 and we've been bros ever since.

A/N: in this story, they're all 17.

"Um no?"
"Are you sure? Because you were like drooling and you always drool over Maya."
Everybody turned around.
"Zay." I said trying to get him to shut up.
"He is?" asked Maya.
"Yep.And, wait what does he call you again?"

"Yeah, what do you call me, Ranger Rick?" Maya asked.
Aw crap. She does remember me.
"Please don't call me that, especially now."
"Why not, Heehaw?"
Everybody started snickering.
"Maya, please." I asked desperately.
"What's wrong Huckleberry? Am I finally breaking you?"
Zays face lit up. "Did you just say Huckleberry? Oh you must be Blonde Beauty."
"Blonde Beauty?" she asked.
"Yep.That's what he calls you when he talks about you for hours."
Riley looked confused and hurt; Maya raised an eyebrow.
"Really?"
"Yep. And just a piece of advice, don't go "Ha-Hurrying" in his face again. You have no idea how tempted he was to kiss you."
I turned around and shot Zay a super dirty look.
"Alright I 'll shut up." he said.
The whole class was staring at me and Maya and whispering.
"So, you like me Hopalong?"
They instantly stopped whispering and looked at me.
I didn't answer.
"So do you?" a girl asked.
Maya was eying me.
I started to sweat.
I am so dead.
