Hope Within the Dark

It all starts with the darkest creatures ever known to man.

Creatures that were too dark, even for their own land. These, were the creatures of darkness; they’re small and take on the appearance similar to fairies, but darker. Most of the time, they’re actually quite pretty. Their hair would be long yet silky, usually adorning a dark black; a shade that would reflect the darkness from a shadow, or a ghostly white; sheer-like, with darkness glowing from the roots.

Their eyes are a dark, misty blue; like fog over an oily lake in the dead of night. But heed caution, for they have spears that sting you; turning you into creatures dark like themselves, they’ll tell you they’re like cancer, their potent ‘venom’ spreading like wildfire from the inside out. But sometimes, if you’re lucky, they’ll give you a choice: To simply walk away and just forget about them; to not fight them, to run.

Once they sting you, there’s no turning back. Your skin will decay, rotting away like a zombie’s flesh; changing into something hideous. But then you become something more put together, more refined. You gain wings similar to those of a bat and you adorn clothing style changes to something Gothic and Medieval; but more tuned and equipped for battle.

These darkest creatures come from a world that’s not like our own, but from a different dimension altogether. Their queen, had been locked up in the King’s Castle of that dimension for many years; hoping that the idea of conquering their world would fade away. Only then, would she be of no harm to them.

It worked in a way; the queen hadn’t seen any possibility nor even any use in transforming the land she had now called home. Instead, she devised a plan to set herself free and take over a land that was far more vast than the one she currently lived in. One, that would have no means to protect and defend themselves.

So one day, whilst she was huddled in the darkest corner of her cell; she put her plan into action.
