24.
After mines and [Name's] kiss I went to find Hajime. I couldn't stop smiling maybe people will think I'm about to commit murder. Just then I saw Chiaki, Fuyuhiko and Hajime coming my way.
"Ah since you there's more than Hajime I want to ask you something." My smile not falling.
"Why are you so happy?" Fuyuhiko said in a disgust manner. "Could it be when [Name] use you as an example?" Chiaki asked.
I'm sure my face was heating up. "I just wanted to know something. If you kiss someone and they don't back away what could that mean?"
I did see Hajime frown just for a second. "So vague, it could be anything." Fuyuhiko shrugged.
"Um sorry Nagito I don't really know anything in that area, romance games aren't reliable. And if you mean this with [Name] then she doesn't fit that category emotionally." I laughed a little. "Hajime what about you?"
He seemed to be thinking about it. "If she didn't fight back, and based on her twist with the despair disease... I don't believe you would have any trouble with her. But can I ask you something?"
I then perked up. "You spend a lot of time with her, do you know what she was talking about after the class trial?"
I sighed. If I knew it wouldn't be my place to say. "No I'm sorry, even now I'm so hopeless."
"It's fine, I'm just worried. Since she was remembering things does that mean she'll kill someone?" His hope in her was disintegrating.
"I believe she wouldn't do that, have just a little hope in her even in the name of despair. Just like I do."
Chiaki then sighed. "You're right Nagito, let have hope in each other from now on."
I waved them bye as I headed back to my cottage to get some rest. "Who did Mikan and [Name] mean?" I stared at my plain ceiling.
"It was luck coming here, but what's about meeting [Name]? Is she bad luck to me?"
I sighed as I thought about so many things. "Does it matter anyway, let's just go to sleep."
I tossed and turned in my bed until I found the perfect position.
"Hey Nagito." I opened my eyes and saw [Name] hovering over me. "How did you get in here?" I glanced around the room, it was dark still.
"Locks can be picked simply." It looked like she shrugged her shoulders.
"Let's go walk around or something." She sounded bored. "Wasn't it against the rule?" For a moment she was quite.
"I don't think so, and we could just say we're planning murder."
I get up and put on my shoes and jacket. "Where to?" "Restaurant." We made our way down there and I could only wonder why.
"I wanna look at the pictures that's why." My face might've shown it. "You really are the ultimate guesser."
"Yeah." For some reason she seemed distracted. "Here they are." We walked up to the pictures Mahiru took.
"They are really good." Her eyes never left the board. I chuckled. "It's like we're a family, an odd one."
"A family." I felt her hope drop. "I've never took a family photo before." She turned to me and smiled.
Despite here cheerful attitude her hope did nothing but drop. "What's wr-" "Lets go to the beach." After being ignored we head down to the beach together.
I wonder is she actually planning murder. "Are you remembering more things?" I asked attempting to spark a conversation with her, though I pick a poor one I'm assuming.
"Hmm nothing really." I wasn't sure I'd be able to believe her fully right now.
"Have you figured out the traitor yet?" I perked up since she asked me something. "No I still don't have a clue but when I do I'll let you know [Name]."
She wasn't looking at me, more at the ocean. "Something is wrong isn't it?" Maybe it was because of the kiss.
"Yeah, actually it is." She sighed. "I just feel sad yet no despair." I was confused. "I don't understand." She sat on the sand and I did the same.
"Yup me neither." I feel bad because I cannot help her. We sat in the sand staring at the ocean for maybe ten minutes.
"Let's head back, it's probably 3am by now." She stood up and dust herself off. I feel like we didn't bond as usual.
"How about we just relax at the restaurant and talk." For the first time, she looked me in my eyes. "Are you not ready to go back?" I shook my head no.
"Okay let's go." I turned and followed her. The walk back was silent usually I don't mind it being quite, but with her the silence disturbed me.
We took a seat in the chairs and it was still quite. "Tell me something interesting about yourself."
I thought on it and came up empty. "I'll tell you something too, it'll be fun." She smiled.
"Um well when I was younger my parents died because a meteor hit them while we were in a plane, but the plane also killed the hijackers in the mix."
"Oh, that's very unfortunate." She sighed. "That's really sad, Nagito." I didn't mean to make her sad even more.
"Yeah it is but that's just an example of my luck. Bad things first then something good comes out of it."
"That's a strange way to look at it but if it gets you through things then that's okay." She held her chin on her hand.
"I killed my own family."
I'm sure my eyes were wide. "And the girl Mikan was talking about, freed me. She's the reason why I was able to attend Hope's Peak Academy."
[Name] was looking off in the distance smiling.
"You're okay with it being like that?" She nods her head. "Is she the reason you live off of despair?" She only shrugged. "Maybe, I can't really say. Tell me more."
I cleared my throat and thought of something. "Well I was once kidnapped and shoved into a garbage bag. In the garage bag there was a winning lottery ticket." She giggled a little. "You really been through it Nagito." I agreed.
"My turn." She chimed. "My mother had someone kill my father and try to kill me. But she failed since my father played hero."
Her fist were balled up. "Ever since then we lived with my step family, but I was trapped in my room."
She grinned as her eyes met mines. "They tortured me so many times a day, over and over."
You could see the despair in her eyes and the way her body movements were.
"513 times." I froze in shock. Was that how many times she was tortured?
No wonder why she feeds off of despair, she lost her hope so long ago.
