23.
"Hey Nagito or [Name] any ideas?" I hear Hajime ask as I snapped back.
"The murder occurred around around midnight or dawn. And I know who did it because of what I saw! Like there's no way Ibuki killed herself."
"Good to have you back." Akane said cheerfully. "Why are always dozing off? Your life is at risk." Kazuichi of course yelled.
"How many times do I have to tell you, I don't care about my life or any of yours."
"What a turn around from the despair disease." Kazuichi sighed. Confused faces appeared.
"Since I had my mouth shut I was finally able to come to a conclusion. Ibuki definitely did not commit suicide!" Nagito began. "What are you two talking about?" Hajime asked.
Nagito continues. "I thought there might be a possibility that she faked her death and tampered with the crime scene. But now I remember there was blood on her slippers! So if she faked her death, and walked around the music venue tampering with the crime scene."
"There'd be bloody footprints left in various places throughout the venue. So that's why I think there's no way Ibuki committed suicide!"
Nagito finished. It's strange we think the same things at the same time. "You know we finished talking about that a while ago." Fuyuhiko grunted.
"Huh, really? I guess I should just awkwardly laughed about it then." Nagito scratches the back of his head and laughed.
"Seriously?!" I yelled. "All that time for what." I then pouted. "Are you freakin' kidding me? There's no limit to how useless you both can be!" Kazuichi shout at the both of use. "That's strange. That's very strange." Hajime added.
"Useless... I'm useless?" I mumbled. My heart began to pound. 'I only married your mother to help her out of what she got herself into. You're just her useless and pathetic daughter.'
'Father says we aren't allowed to speak to you because of how useless and how much pain you bring your mother. Sorry [Name].'
'Maybe if you had gotten a better talent we wouldn't be here. A lot of people say having a daughter that's the ultimate guesser, has got to be the saddest thing in the family. I'm not sure...maybe.'
I grinned. "Useless, worthless, pathetic. That's all I was to you guys." I sighed. "But now you're dead because of me."
The void was quite. "What the heck are you saying?" Kazuchi asked with such disbelief on his face. Others stared also.
"[Name], what wrong?" Chiaki questioned next. I shook my head. "Nothing, let's continue."
"In order to hide that the camera was missing, the killer did one more thing to the remaining monitor. The killer smash the monitor to pieces, destroying." Hajime said as Nagito added.
"And the moment Hajime left the music venue, the killer put back the camera took."
Why was I remembering all this unnecessary stuff. Didn't we lose our memories? So why are mines returning? I ran my hands through my hair roughly and sighed.
"It's possible that it was filmed at the hospital's conference room." Hajime stated. "But they look completely different." Akane said.
"That's exactly why the killer did something to make those two places resemble each other."
"What the killer did was make the music venue look like the conference room. They did that by using the black curtain." Hajime said. "From what I can remember there used to be a flashy red curtain on stage." Chiaki chimed in.
Why can't they just see that Mikan did it. "The actual time of death must've been what [Name] said, around midnight or dawn." Chiaki stated.
"You fiend are you saying she knows who the killer is." Gundham shouted and I sighed. "I literally watched them."
"That's right if I look at this one possibility then I too know who it is." Hajime stammered.
"I told you guys from the start that I knew who it was, yet you didn't listen." My tone shows a hint of annoyance.
"Actually, I was called useless when I helped Hajime reach a conclusion you guys couldn't solve."
"Wait [Name]-" Hajime started but fell silent. "When I woke up it was in the middle of the night. I decided to head over to Nagito's room and when I looked out my door window I saw Ibuki then Mikan right after. At first I thought maybe Mikan was taking Ibuki back to her room, so I snuck out."
I then pat my forehead to remember. "When I left out I saw that the room order was Ibuki, Nagito, Me then Akane. So that's when I wondered where she was taking her. So in conclusion I'm taking a total guess, but Mikan killed Ibuki. How you may ask, by strangling her with that rope."
Gasps and stares headed towards Milan's way. "Before I came here, I went to go examine Ibuki's body. And I know the difference between hanging and being choked by a rope." I laughed.
"B-But that can't be true, I'm too slow for any of that." Mikan whined.
"If you say so." I shrugged. "Listen to me as I will only say this once. Mikan is the only one who could've stayed overnight at the hospital right? No one could sleep here." Fuyuhiko piped in. "Yeah that's true Monokuma said we weren't allowed to."
"Ibuki might've had the gullible disease but don't you think she would've followed Mikan without a doubt, since she was our nurse."
"But don't you think that's kinda impossible? A chick like her as the killer. She couldn't even kill a fly." Akane questioned.
"R-Right, I'm too clumsy also!" "No [Name] is right. We're the only one's, Mikan and I. We're the only ones who have the advantage of an alibi."
"It's just a coincidence!" She shouted. "But you're the only one who could've filmed that video in the conference room." Hajime asked her.
I tapped my chin. "That's right if I can recall, Hajime you told her to go rest in the on-call room. And you'd go to the lobby. But Hajime talked to Nagito and put me back in my bed so he didn't have an opportunity."
"And that's when you setup the video. And when I got to the lobby no one came in. You have to pass the lobby to go to the conference room." Hajime said.
"And since Akane, [Name] and I were delirious from the disease it couldn't had been us." Nagito added.
"Please wait! I'm not the killer I can't be." She continues to whine and I just groaned. After some MAJOR convincing and proof that she was the killer. Hajime decided to wrap it all together.
"The key to this incident is the surveillance camera video that only I saw. That's why...I'm going to start with that to unravel the knots of this crime."
"When I went to the hospital with Mikan this morning, I noticed a specific thing in the lobby. The incoming signal light on the surveillance monitor was blinking ahead of the scheduled time."
"When I switched on the monitor, what appeared onscreen was...a person wearing a hospital gown and a bag on their head about to hang themselves right at that moment."
"That surveillance camera unit was designed for two-way communication with the hospital and the music venue... That's why I thought the signal originated from the music venue...so I immediately headed over there."
"But that was the killer's trap... In truth, the video was recorded in a different place. The killer brought the music venue camera the night before and made their preparations in advance... And then...they filmed that video in the hospital conference room."
"By doing so, they tried to make me think the incident was happening in real-time. When in fact...the crime had already been committed by that point. The person in the footage wearing the bag was actually the killer acting as a fake."
"I didn't know that, so I went to the music venue...and found the hanged body wearing a bag on its head. Seeing the body before me, I panicked and rushed out of there to get the rest of you guys... But...that was also part of the killer's trap."
"After cleaning the conference room, the killer was likely watching the music venue from outside... And, as if they were switching places with me, they went inside the music venue...and began working on their last trick."
"First, the killer peeled off the wallpaper covering one of the stage pillars, revealing Hiyoko's body. When I first arrived and saw the hanged body, I didn't notice anything strange about that pillar..."
"I didn't expect it to be slightly larger from the wallpaper, or have Hiyoko's body hidden inside... Next, the killer destroyed the surveillance camera that was used in the conference room."
"After destroying it, they mixed it with what was left of the surveillance monitor found at the crime scene. The surveillance camera the killer used was originally brought from the music venue, but...when they brought it, they made sure to destroy it's monitor beforehand."
"They wanted to hide the fact that the camera wasn't at the crime scene... In the end, the killer transformed the crime scene into a closed room."
"They broke one of the drumsticks from the storage room and placed it near the music venue's entrance. However, they did this to mislead us into believing that the music venue was locked from the inside..."
"In actuality, the reason the music venue became a closed room was because of the glue. The killer sealed the door with glue and intentionally created a closed room that could be forced open."
"With that, the killer finished tampering with the crime scene and met up with Fuyuhiko, Chiaki and me... They helped us force open the music venue door, despite the fact they personally sealed it."
"And they made us discover not just Ibuki's body, but Hiyoko's suddenly present body as well. At the time, they pretended to be surprised but... Inside, they were probably relieved that their plan worked out..."
"Isn't that right, Mikan!? This crime was orchestrated by you, wasn't it!?" Hajime finished off. She began to laugh, her persona was off, though it felt familiar.
"This feeling I know it well like the floor is collapsing, like the sky is falling down upon you. This feeling of despair!" Mikan shouted.
My eyes widened and I smiled. "Ah! Sh-Should I kill someone to get that feeling again..?"
"A-Again?!" Hajime said in shock. People began to question what happened to Mikan. After that we casted our votes and the machine landed on Mikan.
"There's nothing we can do. She's no longer the same person." Nagito said in disgust.
"Based on my predictions she might've caught it too. She probably had the Despair Disease, which was the motive for this case."
"Mikan too you say?" Gundham asked. Nagito laughed. "I know because I was looking at Mikan for so long. Since she was the one taking care of me. My consciousness kept drifting but even so, when I did catch a glimpse of her, her expression was..." He paused and looked at her.
"Full of despair. A despair so devoid of hope that not even a single fragment of it remained." Nagito finished. Wait, does that mean he remembers when I k-kissed him?!
"No freaking way!!!!" I dropped down to my knees and fought the ground. "[N-Name]?" Hajime asked.
"What's wrong?" I looked into his brown eyes then at Nagito's. "N-Nothing." I got up and dust myself off.
"She deserves to be called the ultimate despair!" Nagito pointed at Mikan, while she just laughed. "No that can't be possible." I mumbled.
"For the sake of despair? Ha that's completely wrong. What I did was for the sake of my beloved." Mikan told us.
Beloved? "Hey Mikan do you mean Ju-" "Hey [Name], like myself you remember her. You told me a long time ago that if I want to show my love for her then I just had to prove it. And that's what I did I was proving it like you said." She held my hands.
She was talking about Junko, the ultimate despair. "Well, that wasn't what I meant. But..maybe she would acknowledge you more than me now."
I didn't know what to say, but I knew I was going to have to explain later.
"If only they were still alive, they'd be happy. I know." My mind went blank. Junko's dead? I began to smile I didn't know if I was happy or sad.
"Because of the disease I was able to remember. What a wonderful disease!" Mikan said happily.
"You had the remembrance disease?" Hajime questions her.
"Then how am I able to remember things before coming here? I didn't have that disease." I turned to Monokuma. "Even I'm unsure of that." Monokuma shrugged.
"The 'world ender' you guys are so worried about is also known as the future foundation. Puhuhuhu." Mikan said and questiones were raised.
"Don't laugh. Then you already know who the traitor is right?" Nagito spat.
"Of course." Mikan replied. "Even I don't remember what she's remembering, it's strange." I sighed.
Mikan spilled a lot of the beans, but before she left for her execution. I had to bring her despair.
"Now I can go with my beloved, who always forgives me. Please forgive me, the one who's going to die with the hope of seeing you." I smirked.
"Hey Mikan, if I recall. She loved me more than she ever loved you right?"
She frowned. "You back then told me yourself, that you were jealous of me because of her love for me. But no matter what I refused it, and you couldn't stand to see that."
Mikan began to shout at me. "I should've killed you! If Hiyoko would've never walked in I would've killed you!"
I grab her face, pushing my body onto hers. "But once again you let that opportunity go to waste. Don't you understand, that's why she didn't love you as much as me. I was and always will be her number one Mikan." Her hands fumbled in her hair as she pushed me away.
"Y-You don't even know what love is! How can you say she loved you more!"
"Because this was how she looked when saying it to you." I cupped her face ever so gently. "Mikan, I love you." I backed away and she was quite. I then pulled Nagito for my next example.
"And this was how she did it on me." I pressed my nails on his lips and played in his hair. "I love you so much Nagito."
I then hugged him. He was blushing along with many others. "There Mikan, that's how I know it was more love for me than with you. Oh the despair you get from rejection." My sly tone reached her ears as I held onto Nagito still.
"I-I she loves me more! Sh-She loves m-me more right?" "Lets give it all we got itsssssssss punisssssshmenttttttttt timeeeeee!" Monokuma shouts his catchphrase.
As she was dragged off I felt the despair last until she was off into the sky.
"Ah, can we leave now? I don't want to hear all this talk about 'friends this' and 'friends that.' Her despair wasn't even good, nothing made me happy." I sighed.
"But I prepared a surprise for you guys, an old friend is waiting on the first island beach." Monokuma told everyone.
"Is it Nekomaru!" Akane asked. Of course he gave no answer. But we all went to go greet him. "Everyone hope has returned." I frowned.
It took time to find him, as if we were playing hide and seek, but when we found him it was a strange sight. "Ah he's a robot." I cocked my head to the side.
"Okay I'm leaving now, I've experienced enough." I was walking away and I knew who began to follow me.
I didn't turn around until we got to the pool. "Nagito why are you following me again?" He didn't stop and say anything to me. Instead he grasped his arms around my body.
"I don't know what this feeling is but, it feels hopeful and it's only like that when I'm around you."
"Hey what are you talking about? I don't need to hear about this ho-" Just then he shuts me up. Our lips and bodies were pressed together, and not just a peck. There was a spark, though I hate to admit it.
"I don't know who 'she' might be but, I love you more than anyone [Name]." That was it, he declared his love for me and I didn't want to decline it.
