Little Thoughts (for the Unrequited)

Butterfly wings flap
against my mother's white breasts
sit heavy like stone.

          --o--

Sand castles on shore
built by these two hands, waiting
for the waves to come.

          --o--

False words and whispers
pour like seeds, grazing the ear
until it splits, bleeds.

          --o--

Shards of plexiglass
fall from the sky like manna
pierce the eye of love.

          --o--

Ravens and their wings
deluge the sky's horizon
to blot out the sun.
