Chapter 80: Stranger in the Woods 3-4-17
Aragorn: 19 years old
Aragorn was running through the woods at top speed as fast as he could. It felt so good to be outside in the forest of Rivendell again. He laughed out loud as he jumped over roots and stones and ran past the trees and bushes. He stopped in his tracks as he heard a branch break not too far away.
He waited, but it appeared his prowler was also paused. Aragorn looked around, his eyes in a squint position. He was ready to jump out of the way or pounce on something. He then heard another branch break, sounding not too far away this time. About maybe...
Too late! A white horse jumped out in front of Aragorn and knocked him to the ground. One of the horse hooves had hit him square in the head making him bleed. He held his head as he dizzily looked back in a daze. Aragorn wiped the blood off his forehead and trying scrambling to his feet.
Before he could stand up, a swords point was tipped to his jawline. Aragorn put up his hands and looked up to the person on the white horse. Whoever they were, they had stopped and taken out their sword to Aragorn's throat.
"Who are you?" the cloaked person on the horse asked.
Aragorn wasn't sure what to say to that since he wasn't supposed to give himself away. He was brought back to the present time as the sword when deeper into his skin.
"I live in Rivendell," Aragorn said quietly.
"You aren't an Elf," the gruff voice from above said.
"I know, I am a human," Aragorn explained.
The hooded person took his sword away from Aragorn's neck and jumped off his horse. He grabbed Aragorn by the shirt, but he smacked his hand away and stood up as he backed up fast.
"Who are you?" Aragorn asked.
The person did not answer and they kept their head low so Aragorn could not make out a face. Aragorn drew his sword fast and pointed it at the gray cloaked man. Out of nowhere, the stranger took out a long brown, sticklike staff and waved it calmly in front of him. To Aragorn's surprise, the sword he held in his hands started turning red and it started to flash on fire.
Aragorn dropped it to the ground and the redness and fire went away. His hand burned from where the handle of the sword had been touching his hand. He looked up to the man and he was stepping closer to him now, so Aragorn backed up. He felt the urge to run, but wasn't sure if the guy would use his staff on him in some painful way to stop him.
He decided to take his chances. Aragorn eyed the way that he had come. Then he looked back at the cloaked person before him and then the ground. He took a chance and ran.
"Hey!" the voice from behind him called.
Aragorn didn't look back. He had to tell Elrond that there was a mysterious man in the forest coming to Rivendell. Soon, Aragorn heard the horse hooves behind him gaining fast. Horses were three times faster than humans on foot.
Not wanting to, Aragorn turned the wrong way to go to Rivendell and hunkered down between a large bush and a tree. With his luck, the bush had thorns all over it that made him want to scream whenever they poked at his skin. He slowed his breathing and watched from his hiding place.
He saw nothing for a second, but could definitely hear the horse coming. Then it came into view. He went lower into the leaves and thorns and silenced himself. The man on the horse commanded his horse to halt using its name which Aragorn could barely hear.
Aragorn watched as the man looked around and the horse smelt the air. Aragorn closed his eyes and wished for the mystery guest to go away, but a second later the horse galloped away... to Rivendell.
A/N: Who is the stranger!?!? Any guesses?
