Chapter 8: Tree on the Waterfall 11-13-17

*Aragorn: 6 years old

The next day, Aragorn woke up feeling a lot better. He opened the front door of his room and walked down the hall and out of his house. He had an entire day to explore Rivendell and be at peace. He preferred to walk on the sides and not right in the middle of things.

This place was so beautiful, so clean, and so perfect. Aragorn watched the same kids from the day before playing with an acorn in one of the courtyards not too far away. This time it looked like they were playing a chasing game.

They were all running after each other and screaming joyfully. Aragorn would have gone over to play with them, but he decided he needed a break from the Elflings today.

Aragorn continued to walk. As he did so, all the Elves that he past waved and smiled. Aragorn would wave back and smile, as he kept walking. He spotted an enormous waterfall and looked down into the valley where the water splashed down and hit the rocks at the bottom. There was a curved tree that he also spotted. One of the mighty branches of the enormous tree reached out and curved over the waterfall. As he walked up to the tree, some birds flew from it singing a morning tune.

Aragorn took off his boots and left them at the base of the tree. He remembered the last time he had climbed a tree, he had fallen. But this time he wouldn't and he must face his fears. Except climbing had never been a fear of his, he always loved the sport.

He then climbed up the enormous tree truck higher and higher. He was about ten feet off the ground when he made his way to the branch that over looked the waterfall. He went down on all fours and crawled onto the thick branch.

The branch was about three feet wide and ten feet long. He tried shaking it with his body and it didn't budge. The branch was strong enough to hold his weight and probably a lot more added.

He crawled out from the tree and onto the branch entirely. Once he was in the middle of the branch, he looked down. Down below he could see the water from the waterfall hitting the rocks below.

Aragorn reached out his arm to the waterfall that sat next to him on the right, but he was unable to reach it. The head of the waterfall sat about two arms lengthens away from him. It was a perfect length away so he wouldn't get drenched by the water.

Getting into a sitting position now, Aragorn couldn't believe what he had accomplished. He was sitting on a tree branch with the waterfall on one side and a hundred-foot drop on the other side. If he slipped or took one wrong footing, he would surely fall. But he liked it up there. It made him feel calm.

The water from the waterfall splashed tiny sprinkles onto his back. He watched a bird land next to him and sip some of the water from the many cracks in the branch were the water had collected. He felt so happy and could stay up there for a long, long time.
