Chapter 64: Heartbroken 4-1-17

Aragorn: 17 years old

Aragorn's body was filled with so much joy and happiness that he couldn't contain himself. Without thinking anything through, he ran. Straight for his father, Elrond. He ran and ran ignoring his sickness that was still lingering throughout him. Ignoring the pounding pain of his face and chest from the Elf the previous night.

None of the Elves had looked up yet, maybe because the conversation they were having was intense. Aragorn ran and ran. As he got closer, he saw Elrond and Legolas look to him. Aragorn's face was looking straight at Elrond, just as Elrond was looking at him. Both their expressions mirrored each other of the look of joy, confusion, and longing.

"Elrond!" Aragorn screamed.

"Estel?!" Elrond called out confused.

There was not direct path that lead in- between Aragorn and the throne area. As soon as Aragorn saw the jump he would have to take, he never slowed down, he ran faster. It was about a five- foot jump from the path Aragorn was on, to the one the other Elves were on. Elrond saw what Aragorn was about to do and yelled,

"Estel, don't!"

It was too late because the jump was too close now and Aragorn couldn't slow down. Elrond's hands went to his face as Aragorn leapt. Legolas' mouth held open wide and Thranduil's face held a confused and angry stare, looking as if he wanted the human to plummet off the path. Still soaring through the air, Aragorn tilted his toes in a way that would enable him to go farther.

Significantly, Aragorn landed on his feet perfectly as he touched his feet to the edge of the path. His heels wobbled a little and he swayed, but he quickly stepped forward. Everybody was staring at the human making Aragorn feel uncomfortable, but his eyes were only on Elrond. As his were on him.

Not being able to hold it back anymore, Aragorn ran to Elrond fully. The Elf held out his arms and Aragorn jumped again into his arms. Instant cries of happiness escaped Aragorn as he wept into Elrond's chest as he had done often as a little boy. Aragorn was surprised by this, but the Elf started crying too! In all his years, Aragorn had never seen Elrond cry.

"Oh, Estel! Oh, Estel," Elrond cried into Aragon's small body.

He seemed even smaller without his boots on. Elrond could feel Aragorn's heart beating fast in his chest as he held him tight.

"Ada," Aragorn sobbed, as it was the only thing he could say.

"I missed you... so much, Estel," Elrond said calming down as he now realized the other Elves were staring wide eyed.

"I am sorry for not staying in Riv..." Aragorn stopped as he choked on a sob quieting him again.

"No, no," Elrond whispered, "I am just glad to be here with you know,"

"I tried getting to you, I did," Aragorn stopped as he took a deep breath, "They wouldn't let me, I'm sorry,"

"Shh... just breath, you are going to be fine," Elrond said softly.

Aragorn stopped crying and stood quietly in Elrond's arms as he slowed his breathing and calmed down. Elrond could feel the boy's heart rate decrease back to its normal beat. The Elf just stood waiting for his boy to be silent once again.

As they hugged, Elrond could feel the warmth of Aragorn radiate to his own body. Although, he was unnaturally hot and he suddenly remembered Lagorion telling him Aragorn was sick. Elrond lifted Aragorn off him, so that he could look at his child.

"Don't leave me!" Aragorn suddenly burst out and grabbed Elrond around the waist tighter.

"I'm not, I never would," Elrond said and gently pried Aragorn's strong fingers off his sides.

"I told you he was telling the truth, father," Legolas whispered to his father.

"Silence or be gone with you," Thranduil said as he watched Elrond and Aragorn look so happy together.

Legolas turned away from his father and stood silent as he took a deep breath. He was trying hard to conceal his anger towards his father. The two Elf guards were still standing quietly staring, but were ready to do as their king commanded.

"You are sick, so sick," Elrond said to Aragorn as he held his face in his hands, "Your face! What happened?"

"I know, I know," Aragorn nodded.

"Does it hurt?" Elrond asked as he traced his finger gently down Aragorn's gash on his left forehead down to his lip.

"Not as much as my heart," Aragorn chocked back more sobs, "I only wanted you there with me, but you weren't and it's my fault,"

Aragorn was about to cry again, but Elrond said,

"No, no, look at us now. I am here for you,"

"Is Arwen okay, and the others?" Aragorn asked.

"Yes, yes, they are all heading home,"

"Lag?"

"He is just outside waiting,"

Aragorn tucked his face into Elrond again and took a relieved sign. Elrond kept one arm around the human and looked at Thranduil as he positioned Aragorn to his side.

"Thank you for looking after my child," Elrond said, "My thanks will ever be in your favor,"

Thranduil smiled viciously and said,

"What makes he think you can come into my home and take this human from me?"

Aragorn, Elrond, and Legolas were all shocked by that response. Legolas looked to the ground and wished he were invisible. Aragorn gripped Elrond tighter and snuck a peak at the king on the throne.

The king still held the mangled branch crown upon his head and they looked even more twisted then last Aragorn had seen him.

Elrond just looked confused and said,

"Whatever do you mean? You found my child and I am thanking you for looking after him. We will be leaving now,"

Elrond took a step back and gripped Aragorn protectively.

"You can leave, by all means... but not the human. He will stay with me,"

Elrond only stared at the king.

"This is my Realm," Thranduil said, "I have all power here, not you my Lord Elrond of Rivendell,"

"He is my son," Elrond rejected with the same tone of voice Thranduil had used.

"Is he? I don't think so," Thranduil said with a smirk, "He is a human and you, an Elf of Rivendell. Where did this child even come from?"

"That is not to your concern," Elrond said protectively.

Thranduil gave a hand signal to the Elven guards and they moved forward. Before they could reach Aragorn, Legolas grabbed them each on their arms to stop them. The guards looked confused at Legolas.

"This is not right, father," Legolas said, "Estel belongs with his family, in which we are not,"

"Dina!" (be silent) Thranduil screamed at the prince.

Legolas let the guards go. Gave a sad glance to Elrond and Aragorn, and walked away angrily knowing he could do no more. The guards looked to Thranduil and he nodded, so the guards did what they must.

They walked over to Aragorn and Elrond and took Aragorn by his arm.

"No!" he wailed and clutched Elrond's cloak tightly, as it made his hands hurt.

"Please, don't do this," Elrond said, but didn't move. He was too in shock.

"Get off!" Aragorn shouted and smacked the guard's hands away.

That only left a blind spot for the other Elf guard in which he took. Aragorn was pulled away from Elrond, but he didn't fight. He couldn't do so with the amount of decreasing strength he had. Aragorn and Elrond only stared at one another as if in slow motion. Thranduil however was smiling.

"This human must be special if he is staying with Elves. That's why I want him, because I much hate humans and the disgusting dwarves most," Thranduil spat as he still sat on his throne.

Aragorn looked down and knew he had to talk to Elrond for just a moment at least. He kicked the Elf guards in the legs and pushed them away hard with a new strength. Then he ran for Elrond again and jumped into his arms.

Elrond wasted no time and said,

"Uuma quena en'mani lle ume, ri'mani lle umaya. Uma ta ar'lava ta quena ten'irste'," Elrond whispered into Aragorn's ear softly while the guards recovered. (Don't talk about what you have done, or what you are going to do. Do it and let it speak for itself), "Meet me at the end of the river. You will know which one,"

"I will," Aragorn whispered, "Amin mela lle," (I love you).

And that was it, before Aragorn was tugged away yet again and never had a chance to say goodbye leaving both father and son to feel heartbroken.

A/N: Itwas really happy and sad writing this chapter. It was so cute writing about Elrond and Aragorn reuniting, but  sad of course at the end. What will happen next? :(
