Chapter 28: The Lady of Light 2-2-17

Aragorn: 8 years old

A couple days later it was the day that Aragorn would converse with Galadriel. The only reason why he had come to Lothlorien. Haldir led Aragorn to the very center of Lorien where the tallest tree was located.

"This way," Haldir whispered and Aragorn followed.

Soon they reached the inside of the enormous tree. Haldir pointed down to the floor beneath them. Aragorn looked over the balcony and saw a single fountain with a shockingly beautiful women standing next to it.

"Is that her?" Aragorn asked, still whale eyeing the woman.

"Yes," Haldir said, "You may go down now. I will wait for you here,"

Aragorn glanced up at Haldir and then made his way slowly to the stair case not too far away from where they stood. As he walked down the stairs, he gazed upon Galadriel. She was in a beautiful white dress that purely touched the ground. Her hair was a golden blond that was wavy and draped down to her back.

Although Aragorn could not see Galadriel's face quite yet, he imagined it to be pretty. He took the last step down the stairs and if Galadriel had sensed him, she turned around slowly. Aragorn stopped and stared at the Lady of Light in awe. He froze in place and just watched her as she watched him.

Then he felt as though he should bow, so he did.

"Come," Galadriel said.

Her voice was warm and deep, like summer honey dripping off the comb. Aragorn slowly approached Galadriel who held out her welcoming arms out to him. He didn't like being touched, by anyone except possibly Elrond, so he decided to keep his distance with the stranger.

As he was about two feet away from her he stopped and looked up to her. She looked down to him and smiled sweetly. Aragorn waited for her to say something.

"Hello, Estel," Galadriel said with a sparkle in her eyes.

Aragorn caught the look in her eyes. They unlike any other Elf had sparkles that shone from them pleasingly. In response, Aragorn smiled gingerly.

"I have heard many things about you, young one," Galadriel went on, "Would you mind explaining yourself to me?"

Aragorn didn't really like the start to the conversation, but he didn't want her to dislike him, so he cooperated by saying,

"Of course, what would you like to know?"

"Where have you come from?" Galadriel asked even though Aragorn was sure she already knew the answer.

"The last village of the Dunedain, my lady," Aragorn replied carefully.

"Dunedain, yes," she paused and not taking her bright blue eyes off Aragorn.

Aragorn nodded not sure if that were a question or a statement,

"Correct, I moved to Rivendell when I was four years old with my mother,"

Galadriel looked at Aragorn carefully taking the youngling in.

"Did you know my mother... or father?" Aragorn asked boldly.

"I am afraid not," Galadriel said, "But I heard that your father, Arathorn, was a wonderful man. Just as you will turn out to be," she smiled down to Aragorn.

Aragorn smiled too and blushed.

"And you go by, Estel?" Galadriel questioned.

Aragorn nodded not knowing anything else he want by.

"Do you know what Estel means?" Galadriel asked the sparkle in her eyes growing more beautiful by the second.

"Certainly, Elrond told it to me when I was young,"

"Indeed. All Elves know that you will grow up to be an amazing and quite special man,"

"Everybody keeps telling me such things, but why?" Aragorn asked.

"There is a lot for you to learn and Lord Elrond will tell you when the time is right. You are too young right now," Galadriel explained.

Aragorn nodded trying to conceal his disappointment in the answer.

"Fear not, young Estel, you will find out who you truly are in the time ahead," Galadriel said.

Who I truly am?

Aragorn nodded and said,

"Thank you for such kind words,"

"Tell me, I have one more question," Galadriel said, "What do you know about yourself?"

Aragorn stayed quiet and thought about what to respond with.

Why was my dad so special? I thought it had something to do with Gondor? I thought that's why he always read me books about the kingdom.

Galadriel took the silence and waited for a response. Aragorn finally said,

"I have come a far way to find out who I truly am, but I have not found it yet. All I know is that something went wrong with the Dunedain and I think I am the last one. I have been told that I am being hunted. That's why I need protection in Rivendell,"

Galadriel didn't say a word outload after that. For some very strange reason, Aragorn could her the Elf queens voice in his head. Loud and clear as if she were acually conversing with him still. She said,

"Of course, you are the last of the Dunedain. That's one of the many reasons why you are so unique,"

Aragorn wasn't sure how he could hear her mind, but he decided if he could hear her then she could her him.

"Thank you," he answered with.

"You are welcome, young one," Galadriel's mind echoed back, "It was a pleasure talking with you,"

Aragorn looked down and Galadriel took her eyes off Aragorn for a moment.

"Are you surprised?" Galadriel said through her mind again seeing the awe struck on the child's face.

Aragorn looked back up to meet her gaze on him and responded with,

"Yes, this is quite amazing,"

Galadriel's eyes flashed an even greater shimmer in the light and she stepped forward putting a hand on Aragorn's shoulder. Aragorn could immediately feel the power from her body zing through his.

"Thank you for your time, young Estel," she said out loud and forced a smile down to him.

"As of yours. It was a pleasure meeting you," Aragorn said.

"And you," Galadriel said and took her hand off of Aragorn's shoulder.

Aragorn turned around and headed for the stairs.

"Do be careful out there. Middle Earth is a dangerous place," Galadriel said making Aragorn stop and turn to face her.

"I will,"

Then Aragorn turned again and headed up the stairs to meet Haldir whom was still waiting for him.

A/N: How did you all like the conversation? It was hard talking and thinking like Galadriel, lol :D
