"Well there isn't much I can do to help you." Marco mumbles as he sets down his clipboard, "I can stable you but you might have to go back to therapy until you can get your medication." I groaned loudly and threw my head onto the pillows of his bed. "Hell no. I'd rather go back to just working through my alcoholism." "You haven't?" He starts but I shake my head no, "Still sober. I would rather cut off my arm than break my promise to Pops." He smiles softly and turns to Thatch, leaning against the bedroom doorframe. They share a knowing look before Marco turns to his closet to get something. I stare up at the ceiling, listening to Marco's pet bird coo quietly on his perch. "Fae, I understand you don't want to go to therapy but if you talk to your friends about this, you can remove the majority of the stress." Marco walks back over with a couple of pills and a glass of water. "I can't." Tears spill from my eyes, "Robin tells me the same thing but for some reason I can't. The words get stuck in my throat, I feel small and like I'm drowning." I roll over on the bed to face the wall. I hear the glass make a noise as it was set down on the nightstand and the bed shifts when a new weight was added. I recognize the hand on my shoulder as Marco, "Fifi, you really should speak to your friends. They aren't there to judge or think less of you." "It's so hard." I utter. Marco stands and then he lets out a soft sigh, "Why don't you try and get some sleep, okay? We'll be downstairs if you need anything." He moves the blankets out of the way as he quickly pulls off my shoes and then pulls the blankets over me. "I'll let Law know that you're over here." Thatch calls from the door and I recall that I had smashed my phone hours earlier. "Thanks." I pull the blankets up to my chin as Marco leans down to brush some hair out of my face. "Sleep well Imouto." I listen as they shuffle out of the room and close the bedroom door.

~Flashback~
"Officer Faerie reporting for duty sir!" I smile as I salute my new captain. He moves the newspaper out of the way of his face, revealing a huge cigar in his mouth. He gives me a bored expression, "Put your hand down Rookie." "Yes sir." I place my hand at my side, "Oh, here are my papers, sir." I take the folder out from underneath my arm and hold it out for him to take. His eyes slowly move from my face to my hands before setting down his newspaper. He grabs the folder and opens it, skimming over my personal file. "Graduated top of your classes. A spotless record, hm." He places his feet back onto the ground and then kind of haphazardly set my file down on his desk that was covered with all kinds of paperwork, barely any room for his computer. "Here's your coffee Smoker!" A voice calls and I step out of the way to see a woman, probably not much older than me, hurry into the room with two mugs. She turned to me, "Oh, hello there." "Hi!" I grin. "Faith, meet your field officer Tashigi." Smoker's voice cuts in and Tashigi remembers that she's holding the mugs and quickly set them down. She then turns back to me, "It's nice to meet you." We say as we reach forward to shake each other's hands.

"Is Smoker always smoking?" I whisper to Tashigi as I wave the smoke out of my face. "You'll get used to it." She replies as we watch our Captain stand off to the side of the main room, speaking with his commanding officer. I had been here for only a week. "No, I'm sorry Mrs. Brown, nobody has brought in any information about your missing daughter." I turn my head to the front, seeing a older woman looking quite upset as she speaks to a fellow officer. She blows her nose into a handkerchief before wiping the tears from her eyes. Without thinking, I walk over to them both, "What's wrong?" Mrs. Brown looks up at me, "My daughter's been missing for two years and no one seems to have any answers." She sniffed. "Two years?" I ask "Maybe I can look into the case and see if I can find anything." "Really?" Her tearful eyes is suddenly filled with a look of hope. "Of course." I smile as she leans over the desk and grasps my hands in hers, "Bless you child." She gives me a small smile before she turns to walk out of the department. "Why would you do that?" The man sitting at the computer looked up at me, "Why would you give her such false hope?" "It broke my heart to see her like that." I reply. "You'll only setting yourself up for failure. That case has been cold for two years." He shook his head, "But I can get her file to be sent to your desk." "Thank you." I smile.

I look over the file.
It had the basics of the young girl's name, age, height, eye color with a picture aged two years. I frown slightly as I read over the information that the police did have. "Nala went missing two years ago while she was walking home after school. The cameras of a nearby building catch her being pulled into a white van.' That's not a whole lot." "That's because the case went cold almost immediately. No one could find the van as it has no licenses plate." Tashigi speaks up and I look up from the file. She sets down her mug "Poor Nala disappeared and we haven't been able to find any kind of trace of her for two years."

"Lose one fight and she will die."
The words echo in my head as I lean over, panting heavily.
"And the winner is Fairy!" The referee shouted as he held up my arm to the cheering crowd. I glanced over to Walters spot and he was gone. My heart plummets to my stomach. After the fights, he always shoves me into the backroom to clean some of the blood off as he counts the wad of money. But today he wasn't there. I swallow and hurry through the crowd, pushing my way up the stairs; adrenaline drowning the pain throughout my body. I limp down the hallway and shove open the door, "Nala!?" I hurry into the room, looking around for the little girl. "Nala? Speak to me!" I stumble to the couch, panting, "Nala, please!" I turn towards the window and there her body lay, underneath the window sill. "Nala-!" I push myself off the couch and stumbles to her side. Her beautiful sapphires are now dull glass when they meet with mine, "...nice lady..." She takes a very shallow breath. I look at her body and immediately take in the gun shot wound to her abdomen. "Hang on sweet pea!" I rip off my shirt as fast as possible and press on her wound trying to stop the bleeding. "Hang on baby, hang on!" I struggle to put a free hand onto the cracked window, trying to push up the ancient thing, "Hang on Sweet Pea!" I switch hands and relax slightly as it raises up just enough. "SOMEBODY HELP!" I scream as loud as my voice can carry. "SOMEBODY HELP ME!!!"
I whimper as I look back down, I can see the life draining from her eyes. She wasn't going to make it. "I'm so cold." She whispers. I rest back onto my knees and lean down, wrapping my arm around her shoulders, slowly pulling her up into my lap, "It's okay baby, it's okay." I nuzzle her face gently as I shift as slowly as I can to rest against the wall. She leans into my warmth, "Am I going to see Mommy again?" I fight the tears building in my eyes. "Yes, you will." I nod, "You just have to take a nap first." "Promise?" She utters ever so faintly. "I promise baby girl." I shudder at the sharp breeze that meets the back of my neck.
"Nala...?" I touch her cheek but she doesn't move. "Na-..." Her name dies on my tongue as I start sob.
~end~

I sit up with a start, taking in a sharp breath, "Nala?" I groan and take in my surroundings. It was Marco's bedroom. I swallow thickly, throwing the blankets off of me, and shove myself off of the bed. The upstairs was completely silence but I could hear the boys being rowdy downstairs, probably shouting over some video game. I rub my shoulders and shuffle to the stairs. I stare down them. Do I want to go down? Do I want to be surrounded by obnoxious boys?
I turn around and stare at Pops' office door that was at the end of the hallway. There was a light on under the door and I frown. I thought Pops wasn't going to be back for a while? I shuffle to the office door and knock on it.
"Come in." Pops' gruff voice come through and I slowly crack the door open, "Papa...?" Pops looks up from the paperwork that was sitting on his oversized desk. "Something wrong lass?" His voice makes my nerves calm as I step into the room, closing the door behind me. "...I can't sleep..."
"Come here." He calls me over. I walk over to him and he pulls me up onto his lap, "Why don't you help me organize my papers?" "I can do that." I yawn quietly.

Marco leans back against the couch, about to take a sip of his drink, "Luffy, can you two keep it down? Fae is trying to sleep upstairs." "I'm not the only one being loud!" He turns to Marco and Ace swiftly smacks the back of his head, knocking his straw hat to the ground, "You're such a loudmouth!" "Hey-!" Luffy growls, "Don't knock my hat off!" The two falling into a quick fight over the hat and who was being the loudest. Marco rolled his eyes as Sabo let's out a tired sigh, "I'll bring her supper." He walks out of the living room and into the kitchen where Thatch was whipping up a quick dinner as he was talking with Law on the phone. "...just letting you know that your girl is over here at Pops, she got a small burn at work and requested to see Marco," Thatch turned to set out some plates, "Yes I know you're a doctor. Maybe she didn't want to bother you while you were at work." He set out some silverware, "Look man, this is something to discuss with her, not me. Yeah, you can come over to pick her up." He set his phone down on the island and let out a breath, running some fingers through his hair. He seemed stressed. "Thatch?" Sabo questioned, "Are you alright?" "Yeah, yeah." He tussled his hair back into place before turning back to the food.
He plated it and then pushed one over to Sabo, "You can take that upstairs to Imouto." Sabo gave a nod and grabbed the plate, and left the kitchen.
Luffy and Ace shoved pass their brother to get to the food that was just prepared. Marco slowly got up from the couch and wandered towards the kitchen but stopped when a knock came from the front door. He walked over, opening the door, "Care for some dinner?" He stepped out of the way as Law shuffled into the house. "No, thank you, I just came to pick up Fae." "Maybe make yourself comfortable, she's sleeping right now." Marco closed the door and started his way towards the kitchen. "Was the burn bad?" Law asked as he followed Marco, who glanced back at him, "Burn?" "Thatch called me up and said that she burned herself at work, came to see you as not to bother me." Law explained as they joined the others in the kitchen. Marco looked over at Thatch, who shoved the plates in everyone's direction, they both seem to argue silently between each other. Sabo rushes into the kitchen before anyone can say another word, "I can't find Fae, she's not in Marco's room!" "You lost her!?" Law asks. "It's a big house, she probably went on a walk." Ace shrugged his shoulders, "She used to do it all the time when she couldn't sleep." He swallowed the food in his mouth before taking a big gulp of his drink. "Try looking in the garden." Luffy suggested, "We used to hangout around the pool looking at the stars." He scooped up the remaining food on Ace's plate after Ace smacked his head on the table; passed out. "Used to?" Law questioned. "You remember back when she was living here." Luffy giggled, "She was here for a whole year." Law rubbed at his chin in thought, trying to chose his next words carefully. Luffy had always been an open book about anything. He never had anything to hide. Robin had told Law about what happened to Fae before they met and he wondered if he could get a matching story. "I remember her living here but she didn't explain why." "Pops explained that she was working off some charges." Luffy stuffed his face with a piece of meat, "Back when she first got here, Fae had tried to steal some bottles from Shanks' bar." Law leaned back slightly, listening. The room was a bit tense but no one seemed to stop Luffy as he continued, "Smoker said she used to be a cop but was let go cause of some kind of issue?" "Because of Walters and a girl named Nala?" Law asked.
A plate smashed to the ground and everyone turned to see Fae standing in the doorway, eyes wide. Her face went pale and she look like she might faint.
