2 - Second Encounter

" oh my, please don't take him away "

*

We'd met again by total chance, just like the first time.

He was playing a game at the Internet cafe I had come to with Dowoon to do supplementary work for the office. Jae's eyes were trained on the screen, irises dancing around as they reflected the light of the screen in front of him. He didn't notice me.

The heavy rain thudding against the roof made it difficult to concentrate on schoolwork. Dowoon snuck off to play games, and I was left with nothing to do but work on the assignment alone so that Sungjin wouldn't get on my case for fucking slacking off. I bit back all the curses I so desperately wanted to send Dowoon's way, but a milder one still managed to squeeze through my previously clenched-shut lips. "What a lazy ass—"

"Hey!"

My head whipped up, my surprised eyes probably resembling a human sloppily made of torn out images in magazines. Jae laughed. "Park Jaehyung! Hi!!"

"Sorry I didn't see you earlier — what was your name, again?"

My chest deflated in melancholy. "Kim Wonpil," I murmured out through pouted lips, unable to resist the feeling of betrayal that came with the knowledge that he hadn't memorized my name as I had his. My lips buzzed from all the times I'd subconsciously ended up whispering the bundle of alluring letters into the stillness of sleepless nights.

"Of course!!" Jae slapped himself on the forehead, shaking his head. "Sorry I didn't recall — the movie theater was so fucking loud and I'm kinda new around here. My Korean isn't the best."

My heart awoke once more at this. It fluttered more when Jae's eye coursed into a series of blinks. "It's okay," I breathed out.

"Why don't I take you out on a date to the sushi place next door to make up for it Sunday, six o'clock?" Jae smirked at me, resting his hand with its long, elegant fingers on the table beside mine with its slightly less attention-getting features. "You up?"

My blush must have been answer enough, as he walked on out the door with a victorious grin on his smooth cheeks after leaving a chapstick stain on my rosened skin.
