Naegi's Pov.

A mysterious person was taking the knife as my vision was blurry and hazy, the next time I woke up once again, I saw Kirigiri-san saying something but I couldn't understand what she's saying.

I drifted to a heavy slumber as I seem to forgot my surroundings as darkness took over, making me sleepy.

It was your particular normal day, like nothing could go wrong. The sun was bright as the wind felt refreshing at it slapped our skin.

In front of me stood a girl who has a smile on her face, that's when I realised I was in love with this girl back then.

"I love you, Makoto!"

Who was she? Her face was really blurry that I couldn't recognise her.

But, what I know is I said the same words back to her then.

My eyes fluttered open by hearing Monokuma's loud voice, hurriedly, I checked my drawer to see the survival knife was missing.

"The knife is missing!"

I began to walk out of my room to the cafeteria, wondering who was the person who tried to attack me with the knife that is given to me.

'Maybe I should tell it to the others, but I think it would be wiser to watch out what I'm supposed to say.'

Flashback

"I love you, Makoto!"

I blushed from the dream I had last night, as I shrugged it off and started to find the others... but somehow I can't find anyone, I searched everywhere until I reached the gym.

"Guys, so this is—" I trailed off, they turned to me as I noticed that they were holding Monokuma's body parts.

"What're you doing? if you do—!"

"Calm down, Naegi." Misaki-san said while folding her arms to her chest, I walked up to her with a confused face.

"What's going on?"

"Ask Trashy Togami,"

"--Trash, you say?"

"--Don't call Byakuya-sama with that vulgar name! You sow!"

'Misaki-san has a sharp tongue as always... I bet that trait of hers will never change.'

"Anyways, last night I couldn't get Monokuma's stolen treasure off my mind. I came to ask him about it, but by the time I arrived... he was already no more than a toy, so I rounded up everyone and we began to disassemble this thing." Togami-kun said as he finally calmed down.

"--This was Byakuya-sama's idea!"

"--We went to get you, but you wouldn't answer your door."

"I was sound asleep," I answered while averting my eyes, I heard the person next me yawn.

"Good for you, Naegi... I'm seriously sleepy, I'm no good when I'm ditzy."

She rubbed her eye as she did her best to stay awake, I bet she isn't used to sleeping late or pulling a night without sleeping a wink.

"--Don't go sleeping now, Misaki!"

"I know, pipe down... Togami."

She was staring at something as her eyes widened, I turned to see a time bomb being carried by b-kun.

"--Crap! Look at this!"

"--A bomb? It looks like that is a standard feature for Monokuma,"

"--That's dangerous!"

"--I suspect it has a vibration sensor, be careful."

We started backing away in fear, our hearts were pounding nervously. I noticed Misaki-san was tugging my hoodies as I blushed.

"--Seriously? M-My hands suddenly started to shake!"

"--Hey! Pull yourself together!"

"I forgot to mention this, but I already shut the sensor off." Togami-kun said as we sighed in relief.

"Don't scare us like that!" Misaki-san cried as she lets go of my hoodies and sighed in relief.

"But why did Monokuma stop working?"

"--Perhaps something unexpected happened to the mastermind who was controlling him—come to think, Alter Ego said that the one behind this is none other than the principal?"

"No wait, the principal isn't behind this... probably." Misaki-san said.

"--How can you be so sure?"

"Uh, I don't know... instincts? Anyways, it sounds like we need to investigate the principal's office!"

Togami-kun turned the knob, as expected it was locked.

"Misaki! Go fetch a mattock in 1 min. we need one to break these doors!"

"Wha—why me?!"

"Wait, Togami-kun. It isn't the best to send Misaki-san it."

"And why is that?"

"She gets lost easily, and she's—"

*Thump*

I felt pain on my feet as I looked down to see Misaki's shoe stepping on mine while she's glaring at me.

"It hurts! Stop it!" She lets go as I sighed, guess she is embarrassed if I say that fact.

"Fukawa! You fetch it in 1 min. There should be one in the shed by the botanical garden!"

"I-I need more time!" Fukawa-san ran to get the requested item, I turned to look at the door worriedly.

'Was Kirigiri-san behind this? In which case, she knows who the mastermind is. I wonder if she's okay.'

I remembered what happened last night, she told me about Monokuma's stolen treasure and told me to distract him while she was investigating.

Flashback

"This is the key from the principal's office," Kirigiri-san said.

"How did you get it? I thought the principal's office was locked?"

"It's in Ohgami-san's will... so I thought she broke the door or something, anyways, I have a favour for you to do, Naegi-kun."

"W-What is it?"

"I want to know where this key will take me, so you'll distract Monokuma while I'm investigating."

"What? That's dangerous!"

"To solve a mystery, you sometimes need to take risks, isn't that right?"

"Yeah... but you better come back safely!"

"Yeah."

"Naegi, you okay?"  I snapped back from my thoughts and turned to see Misaki-san's green orbs at me.

"I'm fine,"

"Really?"

"Yeah, don't worry." She just nodded and walked up to Togami-kun, she was discussing something with him.

'I wonder why Misaki-san is always at my gaze... whenever I go, I seem not to never fail her movements.'

"Hello! It's your wonderful serial killer who always has a smile on!"

Fukawa-san came back but, now she was Genocider Sho, I noticed she doesn't have the mattock requested.

"--Where's the mattock?"

"--Matt Tock? Who's that?"

"As I recall, Fukawa-san's 2 personalities don't share memories."

"--Oh, okay! So I was going to the botanical garden to get a mattock. That's 1 puzzle outta the away, now we have have to solve the other."

"What do you mean?"

"--What the hell is a corpse doin' in the botanical garden? Ahahaha!"

We reached the botanical garden to see a corpse laying on the pavements.

"W-What the heck?"

"The victim was killed by the knife stabbed in the chest, the bleeding seems to have stopped yet not dried."

"--I can't tell who it is!"

"--I think it's probably a girl, the chest poofs up, and the body lines seem feminine."

"--It's probably Kirigiri, she is not the only one not here with us."

What? Kirigiri-san is... dead?

"This isn't Kirigiri, she doesn't have gloves, plus she has black hair." Misaki-san said while eyeing the corpse as she squat on the ground.

"Black hair...?"

"Yeah, there are some strands of her her hair here... can it be—?!" She started to remove the mask as light appeared, seems like the boy exploded.

"Misaki-san!" I hurriedly ran up to the bushes to see her laying on the ground.

"I-I'm fine, don't worry... anyways, the body exploded y'know!"

"--Hurry! We have to put the fire out!"

We started to help them extinguish the fire as some minutes passed until the flames and smoke vanished.

"Ouch," I turned to see Togami-kun smacked Misaki-san's head lightly.

"You fool! Don't act so rashly!"

"My bad, but I didn't expected that the body will explode y'know!"

"Be careful next time! Are you hurt somewhere? Did you got a scratch—"

"I'm fine, it's not like I died."

"--Really! Why do you always get Byakuya-sama's attention?!"

"I'm not seeking his or anyone's attention, damn it!"

Togami-kun was genuinely worried of Misaki-san, but she just shrugged it off, I smiled bitterly as I wished I was the one who asked her instead.

"--Why the heck did it explode?"

"--In the end, who is it?"

"...Ikusaba Mukuro," Misaki-san said, we turned to her.

"--Who's that?"

"--I never heard of her name!"

"The 17th super high school, here I'll give you proof." She grabbed the ElectroID as it was that person's profile.

"--Isn't that the electroID you found a week ago?"

"--How come she didn't showed up?"

"I still don't know yet,"

Togami-kun found a blue coloured key, thinking it might go to the principal's office, but he said it goes to the Data processing room.

They started running there as me and Misaki-san were at the back, she sighed while rubbing her hair.

"Hey Naegi, I finally knew what's behind the Death Note."

"W-What?"

"Monokuma answered all of my questions, but it was just a short time, he left quickly."

"Have you found good informations?"

"You bet! He said that the principal wasn't the mastermind, he also said thing like boogsh and wapaw, it was really crappy, believe me!"

'Boogsh? Wapaw? What does that mean...?'

"Anyways, I suddenly remembered someone... it's a guy who was always with me back then, but I don't remember his face or name!"

"What's with that?"

"Unbelievable, isn't it?"

We started about random stuff for awhile as I decided to tell her about the stolen knife, since she trusted me with that private information.

"Hey Misaki-san, the knife that the others handed me... is missing."

"Eh? Seriously?"

"Yeah, someone was stealing it from me last night... but I don't who."

"Is that so? This quite problematic."

"Misaki-san, I would appreciate it if you didn't tell this to the others."

"J-Just don't!" She nodded as we reached the room, it was unlocked by Togami-kun we entered inside to see lots of screens... this must be the CCTV room.

"Oh, you found yer way in?"

We gasped as Monokuma appeared in front of us while laughing.

"Teddies, I haven't seen ya in such a bearie long time!"

"--But I thought you were d-dead!"

"How could a bear possibly play dead, ahahahaha!"

"--Hasn't your personality changed?"

"Of course it changed! The change is bearfectly natural, it's been 2 years since then, ya know?"

"--2 years? It hasn't been that long."

"Anyways, let's go to the main event, allow me to tell ya about the TV you found..."

He turned on the TV as we appeared in it, making us surprised.

"We've been airing yer School Life of Mutual Killing, nationwide via net and it's been a hit!"

"--I see, you wanted us to learn about this, right Monokuma?"

"Right~ This is the ultimate reality show! It's despair entertainment TV!"

"--Hijacking public airwaves requires equipment and astronomical funding!"

"That's a secret for now! Don't ya have something else you need to attend first, well you did find a body!"

"--Classroom trial, huh?"

He walked out of the room and said the line when finding a body.

"--The situation is rather sticky," Kirigiri-san entered the room.

"--Where have you been?"

"Kirigiri, did ya saw the corpse at the botanical garden?"

"Yeah, I did Misaki-san."

"No doubt that body belongs to Ikusaba Mukuro,"

"Yeah, that was the 17th high student, The Super Duper High School Despair."
