Prologue
——-
From the first time they entered the room, they knew it was haunted. They weren't completely aware of the ghosts watching them, but they knew something was there.
They were all still too small to walk on there own, they father carrying them like a bundle in his hands.
When their father settled on their home, it was still in need of fixing. He would talk to them in their basket and walk around their home to show them what was theirs.
When it came to that room, he explained that it would be a storage closet of all their memories and they can come here all they want.
The first one to notice was their brother with red stripes over his eyes. Their dad realized very quickly that he was a little blind, but that didn't explain why he'd often make grabby hands at random times facing nothing.
Eventually, his sight began to clear up despite his odd actions. His brother all followed after him with their behavior.
They got a little bigger and began to crawl. Their crawling would bring them to their favorite room. The haunted storage room.
———-
One day, when they could walk well enough, they went into the room. Their littlest brother on their biggest brothers shoulders.
"Red! Help find ball!", exclaimed the red eared slider.
Raph set down his littlest brother on a pillow. He walked over to help the other two scavenge the room for a big ball.
While they weren't looking, the littlest brother noticed something at the farthest wall from the door. A funny looking circle with a turtle in it. He wanted to touch it.
He crawled over to the circle but realized it was too high up on the dresser. He pulled himself up in an attempt to reach the circle but to avail, he was too short.
He sat down, unable to stand anymore and began to cry. The turtle in the circle looking panicked and trying to calm him down. His brother waddling over to him.
"You want up?", the biggest brother began to lift the littlest brother up the dresser.
He hadn't realized he was pushing his littlest brother into the circle where the turtle caught him with more panic in his voice.
Their littlest brother disappeared and they began crying. Meanwhile, their littlest brother is making happy sounds as he's being held.
The turtle hands the littlest brother back to them very gently and apologizes for scaring them.
"Who are you?", asked the second oldest brother.
"Uh.....", the turtle is interrupted.
"We're guardian angles! We're here to watch over you!", said a different turtle.
"Nu-uh! Guardian angles aren't turtles.", said the soft shell.
"Of course we are! We only look like turtles because you are!", said the turtle that interrupted the other.
"We're not turtles! We're humans!", said the red eared slider.
"Yeah! Dada said he was a human, so that means we are too!", said the biggest brother.
"Because we're his kids.", finished the red eared slider.
The older turtles looked at them with concern.
"Don't know guys, they might be right. We don't look like dad or the people on tv.", reasoned the soft shell.
"But if we not humans then what we? Lou Jitsu is best human ever and I want be Lou Jitsu, if I not...", the red eared slider said as he stressed out.
A trill came out of his beak in distress and his big brother hugged him and tried to calm him down.
"What about Jupiter Jim? He work with alien!", suggests the biggest brother trying to help.
"I wish! Unfortunately, aliens are not real.", pouted the soft shell.
Soon enough however, the small turtles heard their father calling for them.
"Ah, got to go...", said the older turtles.
"We not turtles! We not look like them!", called the red eared slider as they walk out of the room.
———-
The next time the red eared slider goes to the haunted room, he held back tears as he said he was a turtle monster.
There was no circle but he felt them watching and listening.
