Chapter Three

I was sitting in detention when I heard someone whispering my name. I turned around and saw two boys from my English class.

"What guys?"

"Athena, could you do us a favor?" The Hispanic one, David, asks.

"No." I whisper yelled and the two.

"Why not?!" David's friend, Zach, asked in a frustrated tone.

"I don't know if you've noticed, Einstein, but we're in detention." I scoffed before getting up and putting the book I was reading back on the shelf.

Zach then popped his head through the empty space in the book shelf. "Please!"

"No." I said, rolling my hazel eyes before pushing his head out of the shelf.

"But—"

"Nope." I said bluntly as I put my book away. "Whatever perverted ass thing you want me to do or have someone else do, you can forget it."

"Who said anything about perversion?" David asked me as they both followed me to my seat.

"Oh fuck me gently with a chainsaw would you?" I muttered bitterly at their persistence.

"What?" Zach asked me with his face twisted in confusion.

"Nothing." I groaned, rolling my eyes. "Just leave me the fuck alone."

"We need dates for winter formal, so we figured that you and Adriana would go with us because you are more than likely to not have dates." Zach rambled, causing me to raise my eyebrows.

"Wow, thanks for that extremely insulting invite, but neither of us are going to the formal." I scoffed as I rolled my hazel eyes.

"You know, someday you're going to eyeroll yourself into another dimension." David teased, making me roll my eyes jokingly.

"Whoops, there they go again!"

"You are the most stubborn person I have ever met, you know that right?" Zach asked me curiously.

"It comes with being Italian and Irish." I chuckled sarcastically. "Besides I'm not going to the dance, because Max has a Robotics competition that night and I promised that I'd go."

"Isn't your brother some kind of child prodigy or something?" Zach asked curiously.

"Yup, twelve years old and a freshman in high school." I inform them with a proud grin. It was true, Max is a genius. He skipped four grades and is still the smartest in his class.

"Wow, it must run in the family." David stated casually, causing me to raise an eyebrow at what he was trying to do.

"Are you seriously trying to butter me up, so that I'll do you guys this solid?"

"Is it working?" Zach asked hopefully.

"No." I deadpanned, instantly crushing the hope in their eyes.

"Alright delinquents! Asses out of here now and I'll see you all next Saturday!"

"Thank you, Mr Clarke." I muttered, quickly grabbing my things and getting the hell out of the library.
