16 | Thalico

Okay everyone, look at the media I attached. It's really freaky coz when I was writing this, it happened. Read the sentence, then look at the suggestions. Leico anyone? I actually never shipped boyxboy until I came across Leico. I found they're adorable! But Caleo and Thalico/Reynico are what I'd still rather. Anyway, enjoy!

"Oh wow it feels good to be breathing in Camp Half-Blood air!"

I cried, spinning around in delight in front of a grinning Annabeth on Zeus' Fist.

"I know! It's great to have you here after so long!"

Annabeth said. But I could tell something wasn't right.

"What's wrong?" I asked. Annabeth froze, midstep, and sat down on one of the boulders nearby.

"Okay. Thals, look. Last night Percy sent me an IM. We were talking about college and what we were gonna do now," She explained, while I listened. "And...We came to the decision that we were going to move to Camp Jupiter. We're leaving in a couple days."

I stared at her in shock. Percy and Annabeth were planning to move in a year. "I was accepted into the college at Camp Jupiter, and Reyna is letting us stay at an apartment close by."

Annabeth looked at me carefully, worried of what I was gonna say. I was silent, until I flung my arms around Annabeth and cried, "Oh my gods Annie!!! I'm so happy for you guys!"

Annabeth grinned and hugged back.

"Oh thank the gods we found you!"

We heard from behind us and the we both spun around, only to come face to face with a certain raven-haired son of Poseidon.

"Seaweed Brain? Seriously? I haven't seen you for like, half an hour, and you're already worrying about me?"

Annabeth questioned, wrapping her arms around her boyfriends neck. He pecked her on the lips.

"I will always worry about you, Wise Girl."

"Aaaah! PDA! PDA!" A voice cried from behind Percy.

A boy about 15 came from the shadows. My breath caught in my throat. He had black hair that covered over his eyes in a cute way and was wearing a Greenday shirt and black skinny jeans. A black Stygian Iron sword hung on his belt at his side. A very familiar black aviator jacket was worn aswell.

Nico di Angelo.

"Shut up, Nico and calm your zombies." Percy said.

Nico glanced at Me and he froze, his eyes meeting mine. Woah, he has changed. Really changed.

"Uh...." I said uncertainly. "Nico? Nico di Angelo? The one who plays with magic card games and stuff?"

He looked at me, taking my appearance in. He slowly nodded.

"Well, you can practically FEEL the tension comin off these two!"

My stupid seaweed-brained cousin said, completely ruining the moment.

Annabeth slapped him on the arm and he squealed like a little girl, making Nico laugh nervously and I smiled a little.

Thank the Gods the conch horn signaling for dinner blew and the we headed towards the Dining Pavilion.

I walked at the front of the group, and glanced back a couple of times at Nico. I was surprised to see him glance at me too, causing both of us to look away very quickly.

"Well, see ya." I said, waving to my friends while making my way to the Hunters.

Dinner seemed to drag on for hours. I sat, eating my hot chips and gravy. I zoned out of the Hunters conversation and thought about one thing. Or person.

I glanced up at him. Gods, he was....good looking. He had a plate of chicken in front of him, but not touched. He must've sensed someone was watching him, because he looked up at me. I looked away as fast as I could, pretending to look at something else.

That night I decided to skip the campfire and go to my cabin. I sighed as I flopped down on my black ebony bed, in the corner of the cabin.

I stared up at the ceiling, re-living that moment. That moment I saw her.

Her hair was as dark as night.

Her electric blue eyes shone like lightning as her eyes met mine.

Her smile was like the rise of the sun in the morning, and-wait, what?!?!?

I cursed under my breath. "No, no. Not a Hunter. Anyone but a Hunter."

"What was that, Nico?"

My eyes shot to the door to see Hazel standing with her hands on her hips.

"What? Nothing! What's wrong?"

She walked over sat down next to me.

"You need to find some friends Nico. I know, I know it's hard, but you need to find someone else besides Jason or Percy or Annabeth. What about Thalia?"

If I was drinking something, I would have spat it right back out and sat coughing for an hour. I tried not to stare at her like she was crazy. Which she was since she said that...

"What?" I said.

"Thalia. She seems very nice and I have a feeling you two would get along really well."

I stared at the floor. "Maybe."

The next morning I got up and got dressed, with a bit of a weight on my shoulders.

I walked to the Dining Pavilion, butterflies starting up in my stomach like jumping jacks. I sat down and started eating my pancakes, but kept my ears alert for her and her gang.

I then heard nothing. Everyone had stopped talking. I looked up and around in surprise, curious as to why it had grown so silent. Then my eyes landed on a girl who had entered the Dining Pavilion.

She was stunning. She was wearing a short black skirt with leggings and an electric blue tank top with the words, 'Do I look like I care?' written across it. On her feet were black 2-inch heels. She had mascara, but it looked natural, along with electric blue lips. Her hair was dead straight, and it went to her shoulders.

Who was this girl?

My eyes met hers and it hit me.

"Thalia?" Annabeth voiced my thoughts.

Thalia glared at Annabeth, then glared at everyone else and sat down.

The pavilion became noisy as Hades again and I looked at my food. When I looked up again, she was glaring at her food and looked up at the sky, mouthing the words, "Why me?"

▪️◾️▪️

Stupid Aphrodite. I was going to chop. Her. Little. Pretty. Head. Off. Stupid.

I had woken up this morning, only to a gasp from a fellow Hunter, Ebony.

"What?" I had asked.

"Your....look in the mirror."

I looked in the mirror. And gasped. My hair was perfectly straight and I had perfect mascara on. Blue eye shadow was around my eyes and hot pink lipstick covered my lips.

I groaned. Last night I had got a lovely little visit from the love extraordinaire herself. (Sorry, don't know how to spell it) She had said that I was gonna fall in love with someone or something like that. I wasn't really listening.

But I got dressed. When I went to look in the mirror again, I gasped. I was wearing a mini skirt and a glittery hot pink crop top. My shoes-to my horror-were 6 inch high heels and I almost fell over.

"Aphrodite." I cursed under my breath. I looked at the sky. "Change me back."

Nothing.

"Change. Me. Back."

Nothing.

I sighed and said, "Put me in something that's at least more my type!"

In a flash, I was wearing 2 inch black heels, a blue tank top, a short skirt and leggings.

I sighed. "Well, it's better than nothing."

And walked out. I ignored the questions from the Hunters and led them to the Dining Pavilion.

As soon as poor me stepped in, everyone stopped and stared. Except I noticed someone who had looked up after everyone else. Nico.

Today he was wearing a dark grey shirt with black jeans. His brown eyes stared at me for a while. Our eyes met and his eyes widened in surprise. Must've figured out who I was.

"Thalia?" Annabeth asked.

I was sorry afterwards, but I glared at her and sat down, mouthing to the sky, "Why me?"

After breakfast, I went for a walk in the woods while Phoebe was in charge of the Hunters for the day.

I wandered deep into the forest, and I ended up taking my shoes off, as I kept falling over.

I just walked, not bothering in knowing of where I was going.

Then I came to a clearing. A huge beautiful stood in the centre, it's roots spreading out. Green leaves hung off it, and birds of all colours chirped among its branches.

It was also very tall.

I walked up to it in awe, and I touched it gently.

"Hey Thalia."

I jumped, stumbling and falling over on my butt.

I heard someone chuckled from the branches above. I looked up to see Nico hanging from the branches.

My face burned as he jumped down next to me.

"What are you doing way out here?" He asked, helping me up.

I straightened my shirt and looked at him. "I was bored."

He nodded. "Well," He said, looking up at the tree. "Care to join me?"

He started to climb the trunk of the tree.

I stepped back. "Uh...no thank you."

He looked at me with a confused look on his face. "Why not?"

I gulped. "I, uh."

Okay, here's the truth. I'm afraid of heights. I have never told a soul, except for Luke, Annabeth and Percy.

But that was different.

"C'mon! You're not afraid of heights or something are you?" I froze.

He looked closely at me and got down again, standing straight in front of me. He looked directly into my eyes and after a bit he said, "You're afraid of heights."

I straight away said, "No I'm not!"

He smiled a little. "Yes you are."

"Are not! I'm a daughter of Zeus, Lord of the Sky!"

"You are so, Thalia. Don't worry, I won't tell anyone."

I sighed in defeat and sat down on a root, my face in my hands.

"Hey, everyone's afraid something. Look, I'm afraid of leprechauns and rainbows."

I looked at him and burst out laughing. He playfully glared at me and said, "Shut up, I didn't laugh at you!"

But I couldn't stop and soon, he joined in too.

Once we had stopped, NICO'S face turned serious.

"Did you want to overcome your fear?"

I stared at rabbit running by, disappearing in a hole.

"Yes."

I whispered, barely audible. But he heard and jumped up.

"Right then! First things first, why in Hades name are you wearing those clothes?"

I stared at him, wondering wether I should tell him about Aphrodite or not. Well, it's not him I'm gonna fall in love with, so here goes nothing.

"Aphrodite visited me and told me I was gonna fall in love with a boy. Then I woke up this morning, only to find myself wearing a truck-load of makeup, a short short skirt, a hot pink crop top and 6 inch pink heels. This was as much as I could get to pink everything."

Nico stayed silent, then he said, "Do you know who you're going to fall in love with?"

I shook my head. Why would he care?

"Anyway," he said, "We need a place!"
He thought for a bit then said, "I know! The Grand Canyon!"

I stared at him in shock. "Gods no."

His face dropped. (No, it didn't fall on the ground) "We could go, if you wanted to, but obviously you don't..."

He started walking off and I came to a decision.

"Wait! Fine, I'll go."

He grinned and ran back to me. "Really?"

I nodded.

"Well, hold on tight."

He put his arm around my waist and then the shadows engulfed us.

▪■▪

When we arrived, Thalia had her eyes squeezed shut and I chuckled.

She opened her eyes and let go of me, her face bright red.

I smiled to myself. Then I looked around at my surroundings.

We were on some sort of board walk, a long way from the ground. Thalia noticed this and screamed while jumping into my arms.

"Oh my gods!"

I cried, wrapping my arms around Thalia's shaking body. She buried her head in my chest as I rubbed my hand in circles on her back, whispering soothing things to her.

"Breathe. Breathe in, breathe out. Breathe in, breathe out."

I said to her as she started to calm down.

Her head peeked out from my shirt.

"No no. Take me back. Please take me back."

She whispered.

I nodded and we dissolved into the shadows, appearing at the tree.

"We're here Thals." I whispered in her ear.

She looked around, still in a sitting position, my arms around her. Whoops. I let them drop to my sides and felt my face grow hot.

She looked up at me as I scratched the back of my neck.

"I'm so sorry." I whispered to her.

"It's okay. It wasn't your fault." She said.

"Wanna try tomorrow? But we can just talk at the tree, huh?" I asked.

She smiled. "Sure."

▪️◾️▪️

So the next day I walked through the woods to the tree.

Our tree.

Well, it basically is, as we're the only ones who know about it.

The biggest thing that was stuck in my mind was about the whole Thalia and Aphrodite situation. Who was it she had to fall in love with? Wait, why would you care! But it's not you....

I leaned against the trunk of the tree, breathing in the fresh morning air. I closed my eyes, only for them to snap open when I sensed Thalia nearby and I heard the sound of music.

There was Thalia, still in those clothes that Aphrodite gave her, earphones in her ears and an iPod in her hand. 'Monster' by Imagine Dragons was blaring and her head was swaying to the music.

I walked up to her. "Thalia?"

She didn't notice me.

I took her earphone out and yelled, "Tha. Li. A!"

She looked at me in surprise, causing her to fall forward in her heels and unfortunately landing on me.

Thalia groaned and her face went bright red, just realising what position she was in. I was on my back and she layed on my chest, looking into my eyes.

Thalia sprang up. "U-uh, sorry, N-nico."

I smiled a little. "It's okay."

She brushed herself off as I sat up. "Was that 'Monster'?"

"What?" She asked.

"Was that 'Monster' by Imagine Dragons you were listening to just then?"

She looked at her iPod. "Yeah. How did you know that?"

I stared at her in shock. "Have I been living in under a rock? 'Monster' is awesome! Imagine Dragons is one of my favourite bands!"

Thalia smiled. "Same. What about Fall Out Boy?"

"Love 'em. What's your favourite song by them?"

Thalia thought for a bit and said, "'Immortals'. Oh my Gods I love that song." (Same Thals! Who doesn't like 'Immortals'?)

I laughed. "It is very cool."

So that is what we did that day. Sat and talked about bands, movies and, well, everything.

And it was the best day of my life.

◾️◼️◾️

The next day I met up at the tree with Nico again.

"So, wanna get over your fear of heights?"

We were sitting in our spot on a big root.

I swallowed. "Okay. No Grand Canyon again though. Gods no."

He nodded. "What about climbing this tree?"

He pointed to the tree.

"Um. Okay." I said again, taking off my heels.

"So, what would you rather? Me go up before you, or after you?"

I straight away said, "After me. If I fall, you can catch me."

I heard Nico mutter, "No pressure."

I ignored him and got a hold on the bark. My foot felt for a hold and then I slowly, started going up. I was shaking, but as soon Nico started climbing too, I relaxed a bit more.

"It's okay Thalia. You're doing great. Just don't look down, look straight ahead."

Soon, I don't really care how far above the ground we were, I stood on a thick branch, grabbing onto the branch above and squeezed my eyes shut.

"I can't go on anymore, Nico."

"Sit down." He said and I slowly sat down, my eyes still shut.

I felt Nico grab my hand and he whispered. "Open your eyes. The view's amazing."

I opened my eyes and gasped. It was just amazing, it was beautiful. We could see all of camp, from the stables to the demigods training in the arena to the cabins. I could see Pegasus flying around and Festus with a very familiar Latino elf and island girl on the back of him.

I looked at Nico. His hair was in his obsidian eyes that shone happily. I stared at him, realising how amazing he was. But then I felt a rock hit the back of my neck.

"What in Hades?" I yelled, touching where it hit me. I heard snickers coming from behind a tree and familiar looking brown curly hair could be seen.

Nico was angry. He got up and leapt off the tree with elegance, but fell awkwardly, landing on his wrist.

"Nico!" I cried, swinging my leg around the branch so I could see him. Bad mistake.

I realised how far up I was and I felt a bit dizzy.

"Nico!"

I yelled, worried of falling, gripping the branch. I started to panic and felt a wave of nausea come over me as I closed my eyes.

But then I felt strong arms wrap around me and I felt shadows wrap around me.

"Ssh. It's okay Thalia. I would never let you fall."

I looked up at the voice. It was Nico and we were on the ground, the tree above us.

"Oh my god Nico."

I whispered, hugging him tight.

"I don't I'll ever get over that silly fear."

I said, laughing a bit.

▪️◾️▪️

I held Thalia, and she hugged me tight.

"You will get over it, Thals. It just takes practice. But if you don't, don't worry."

She looked at me again, and I realised how far apart our faces were. Suddenly her arms were wrapped around my neck and one of my hands held the back of her head, the other around her waist.

"I will always be there to catch you."

I whispered and closed the gap between us, sending fireworks exploding through my body.

Unfortunately, fireworks really DID go off behind us. But we ignored the yahooing of the Stoll brothers and the Hephaestus Cabin as we kissed under the fireworks.

Hope it was good! Please let's know if you want any requests! Also, the reason why the Stoll brothers and the Hephaestus Cabin found them was because they followed Thalia and Nico to the tree. Yeah. So, thanks for reading!
