Chapter 1: A Way Back

Just wanted to point this out. The start will be a bit slow as my main goal is to introduce Alex to the Elysian Realm before getting into the story proper as he obviously wouldn't be given a formal invitation to enter like Mei was.

So please bear with me and I hope you all continue to enjoy.

'What the hell is a kid doing here?' Thought Alex as this certainly wasn't the first thing he expected to see.

Standing there was a very young girl with long, light blue hair which she had in a low ponytail as she wore a black collared white dress with a little blue flower brooch sitting close to her heart.

Her dress was accented with frills and elegant patterns at the ends, which extended all the way to her feet in the back and a large blue ribbon wrapped around her waist.

The very fancy looking dress was covered in paint however as Alex spotted a few splotches and stains.

Lastly, she had a few white ribbons in her hair and a black beret with feathers attached.

The two looked at one another for a while before Alex slowly stood up as to not frighten her.

"Who are you?" Asked the girl in a soft spoken voice.

"My name's Alex." Responded the boy.

"I'm Griseo." Said the girl as the boy nodded and politely shook her hand.

"It's very nice to meet you Griseo. Um, quick question. You wouldn't happen to know where I am, would you?" He asked.

Griseo put a finger to her chin before expectedly shaking her head no.

"No. I'm sorry mister." She said as Alex sighed.

"No worries. I expected as such." He said before moving on. "Are you out here alone? It'd be kinda strange for someone as young as you to be out here by yourself."

The girl again shook her head no.

"I'm brought here often by someone whenever I wanna go paint. Being somewhere on my own that's quiet helps me focus." She explained.

"Really? That's perfect then. Do you mind taking me to whoever brought you here? I'm sure they'll know how to help me." Asked Alex.

Griseo nodded and turned around before tugging at Alex's sleeve so he can follow her.

The boy followed the young painter through the grassy field which gave Alex an oppurtunity to look around and take more time to survey his surroundings.

He had to admit, this place was very beautiful with the sunset colored sky adding to it despite the total unknown of what this place actually was.

After a few minutes, Griseo again tugged at Alex's sleeve, gaining his attention as he looked and saw the girl pointing ahead.

Alex would face that direction and see Griseo pointing at someone just up ahead.

It was a boy, seemingly looking like he was around the same age as Alex withorange eyes and dark green hair that was tied into a small ponytail.

He had pointy ears, similar to those of an elf and four black horns with small orange marks at their bases, two having grown in the front and the other two on back of his head.

He had winged earrings and wore a green dress shirt and black pants as over the shirt was a large gray cloak that extended down his back.

He also had long black boots with orange accents which also match the gauntlets on his arms as they extended from orange to black with long claws at his fingers as underneath his claws, he wore orange gloves that extended past the gauntlets covering them.

Lastly, there was an opening on his dress shirt which revealed his chest as a large tattoo sat on the right side, slightly resembling some kind of alchemy symbol.

As the two approached the boy, he looked up and noticed Griseo first where he was about to wave hello and call out to her before he noticed Alex.

When he did, he immediately stopped and was slowly brandishing his claws, seemingly getting ready for a fight.

Alex quickly noticed this and immediately put a hand up to dispel any hostility.

"Hey hey hey hold on hold on. I can tell you're suspicious of me and that's perfectly reasonable. Just, please let me explain." He said.

The green haired boy remained in a stance for a moment before slowly calming down, but still keeping a suspicious look.

"Thank you. Firstly, is this girl with you?" Asked Alex as the boy nodded. "Okay good. Now look, this is gonna sound.........bizzare but you need to believe me okay? I don't know where I am nor how I got here. Last thing I remember was walking down before a bright light engulfed the hall, obscured my vision, and knocked me unconscious. Next thing you know, I wake up here. Griseo brought me to you because I feel like you can help me. I don't wanna fight, and I don't want any problems. I'm not here to cause trouble. I just wanna know if there's a place I can go to that can help me get back to where I was." Explained Alex.

The boy remained silent for a while before seemingly pointing off in a direction.

"Over there is a teleporter. It'll take you back to the lobby. From there, you should be able to return from where you came." He said.

"Thank you. Name's Alex by the way."

"Kosma..."

Alex turned to head towards where he had pointed as Kosma grabbed Griseo's arm.

"Come on. Let's head elsewhere so you can continue painting." He said though Griseo pulled back.

"What about Alex? I wanna make sure he gets back safely." She said.

Kosma sighed as Alex immediately tried to make her change her mind.

"I'll be fine Griseo I promise." He said in an attempt to ease her concern, though she just shook her head no.

"I can paint another day." She said.

"Let her be. Once Griseo makes up her mind, you can't change it." Said Kosma. "Come on. I'll lead the way."

The boy would move on ahead with Griseo beside him as Alex nodded and followed, trailing the two from the back.

Seeing as this walk would take a while, Alex decided to strike up a conversation and have one of his questions be answered.

"Hey Kosma. Do you happen to know where we are exactly?" He asked as Kosma would give him an answer he certainly didn't expect.

"You're currently in a simulation called the Elysian Realm." He said.

Alex nodded and didn't think much of what was said before having a double take and then realizing what he had just said.

"Wait hold on. Repeat that for me?" He asked.

"You're in a simulation."

"Simulation? As in, nothing here is real?"

"If you wanna put it like that, then yes. Every single thing you see here doesn't exist in reality. At least, not anymore."

"Right right. Okay okay." Said Alex, clearly trying to not have a huge reaction but mentally, it was the complete opposite.

'WHAT THE F-!?'
