Chapter 52: Grus Nivis
Sakura, Higokumaru, and Tamamo were now in Inazuma City thinking about what to do. That's when Ayaka comes to them unexpectedly.
Kamisato Ayaka: Sakura, Higokumaru, Tamamo. Hold it.
Sakura: Huh? Ayaka?
Tamamo: What's the matter?
Kamisato Ayaka: Something has come up, and I would like to request your assistance. And the traveler's assistance too. Where is he?
Higokumaru: The last time we saw him and Paimon was outside of Komore Teahouse.
Kamisato Ayaka: I need them for something. I'll explain later.
(Outside of Komore Teahouse)
Aether and Paimon were thinking what to do.
Paimon: Hmm, where do we go from here...? What's the plan?
And that's when the group shows up.
Kamisato Ayaka: Traveler, Paimon. Hold on.
Paimon: Huh? Ayaka?
Aether: What's the matter?
Kamisato Ayaka: Something has come up, and I would like to request your assistance.
Higokumaru: She needs our help for something.
Kamisato Ayaka: But you ought not be nervous. This is not coming from the Yashiro Commission or the Kamisato Clan. It is my own individual request.
Paimon: Individual request? You mean... personal stuff?
Kamisato Ayaka: Correct. It concerns my mother.
Tamamo: Your mother? What's she worried about?
Kamisato Ayaka: This may seem a little sudden... but in my view, you are the only people I can entrust this to.
Sakura: We'll help you Ayaka. As your friends we can. We're the only ones available. The others in our party are busy with their own things.
Aether: Can you give me any more details?
Kamisato Ayaka: A few days ago, I was sorting through some old family belongings when I found a notebook that belonged to my mother.
Higokumaru: A notebook?
Tamamo: Belonging to your mother?
Sakura: What exactly was in her notebook?
Kamisato Ayaka: She wrote about all kinds of things, mostly of little consequence. But what drew my attention was a name — it is one that I have never heard before, so the fact that she mentions it so frequently... it makes it difficult for me to ignore...
Paimon: Probably your mom's best buddy, right?
Aether: You'd really never heard the name before? Not once?
Kamisato Ayaka: Never. And although my mother and father passed away many years ago, both my brother and I are familiar with the vast majority of their acquaintances. So... I am very curious about this mysterious individual. I would very much like to meet them.
Sakura: What exactly is the name you'be never heard of before?
Kamisato Ayaka: According to the notebook, their name is "Tsubaki." This seems to have been someone very important to my mother. Someone with a lot of personality, who liked to have fun.
Paimon: Hmm... Paimon thinks it sounds like a girl's name.
Higokumaru: I think so too.
Kamisato Ayaka: That's what I thought too.
Paimon: So, what do you want us to do? Do you need us to find her for you?
Kamisato Ayaka: No, no, her address is given in the notebook — we can head straight there. I wanted you to assist me with the preparation of greeting gifts...
Tamamo: greeting gifts?
Kamisato Ayaka: ...Please keep everything I have told you in strict confidence.
Sakura: Yes Ayaka, we will.
Kamisato Ayaka: The proper course of action would be to involve my brother and visit her together, but he is terribly busy at present, and... on a more selfish note, I don't wish to involve anybody else from Inazuma in this matter.
Aether: Hence why you came to me, an outlander.
Sakura: And the rest of us outlanders?
Tamamo: I'm just a servant/a heroic spirit.
Higokumaru: And I used to be a human then a giant demon fox and now I'm this.
Kamisato Ayaka: Exactly. That, and you are also a kind, well-mannered person with a genuine concern for other people... not to mention trustworthy. And you Sakura, I've known you since you first came to Inazuma and you have the same qualities Aether has and you are a Shrine Maiden and my most trust worry friend. I would not feel comfortable with anyone else in this situation. Everyone else in your party is fine to know.
Tamamo: We'll do it!
Paimon: You can count on us! We've done greeting gifts before, so we should be able to help. In terms of payment... just treat us to some delicious food, and we'll be more than happy!
Kamisato Ayaka: Wonderful — in fact, I was hoping to take this opportunity to show you both around. If you don't mind, of course?
Sakura: The three of us and Kallen and Selune's Elgy have already seen everything around so we'll show you around too.
Paimon: Oh, we don't mind! We don't mind at all! Do we, Aether?
Aether: Not in the slightest.
Kamisato Ayaka: Thank you kindly! Shall we head off, then? Ogura Textiles & Kimonos is our first stop.
Paimon: Alright! Sounds great!
(Serpent Head)
Kiana and I were at the giant skeleton head of the giant serpent. We were on top of the giant skeleton head sitting down.
Kiana: Hey, Patrick.
Patrick: Yes, Kiana?
Kiana: Since my Herrscher of Flamescon Battlesuit has been released... I feel like I should have been given Pyro instead of Cyro.
Patrick: It's not too late. We can always fly to the nation of Pyro, Natlan where you can resonate with Pyro.
Kiana: That's a great idea. That way I'll be able to get my fire powers and transform into the Herrscher of Flamescon and so I won't be at a disadvantage.
Patrick: Let's go there right now.
I summed Toriyama then we hoped on and took flight.
(Ogura Textiles & Kimonos)
Kamisato Ayaka: Hm? This must be...
Paimon: It's a festival promotion.
Higokumaru: A festival promotion?
Paimon: Hey, speaking of — we haven't been anywhere fun since we arrived in Inazuma!
Aether: Did you want to go, Ayaka?
Kamisato Ayaka: N—No, what made you think that? Ahem... Festivals are a common occurrence here in Inazuma. We in the Yashiro Commission are very well acquainted with these sorts of customs. Each season brings its own festival... and each festival, in turn, brings a fresh challenge to the task of maintaining public order... So, while festivals are undoubtedly joyous and lively occasions, for us they are also a cause of concern...
Tamamo: What kind of concern?
Kamisato Ayaka: Oh! My apologies, I should stop thinking about work, this is hardly relevant to the matter at hand. This store here is the place I wanted to visit.
Paimon: Oh, so you weren't checking out the promotion... Well, let's take a look inside then.
Ogura Mio: Welcome, I have all the latest styles. Please take a look! Oh! It's Miss Kamisato and Miss Yae — with guests from overseas! Welcome to Ogura Textiles & Kimonos. Are you here to purchase fabric, or for tailored garments?
Kamisato Ayaka: Oh! Greetings to you too. I have a design here for a garment, would you be so kind as to take a look?
Paimon: Ohh, Ayaka came prepared!
Higokumaru: She did.
Ogura Mio: Let me see... Hmm? Hmm, this could be...
Kamisato Ayaka: Mm-hmm? Could be?
Ogura Mio: —Oh, it's a very fine design! ...Miss Kamisato — you'd like us to make a kimono following this design, yes?
Kamisato Ayaka: Please, if you could.
Ogura Mio: I'm honored that you'd choose Ogura Textiles & Kimonoos for your tailoring needs! However... there is one rather difficult problem...
Sakura: What kind of problem?
Ogura Mio: Based on the design ,this kind of kimono would require silk made from the Silk Flower. The majority of Inazuma's silk is imported from Liyue Harbor, but given the current climate... *sigh* As you well know, Inazuma is currently under a strict lockdown. In all honesty, the impact on the textiles industry has been quite significant. We're struggling to import high-grade fabrics, so much of our tailoring business has been put on hold indefinitely. But of course, where our customers are able to provide the fabric themselves, we can still be of service.
Paimon: *sigh* So you're saying, we need to go and buy some silk first?
Kamisato Ayaka: If even Ogura Textiles & Kimonos can't get ahold of high-grade fabric... where would we buy it from? You could try the International Trade Association. They are a little better connected than we are — after all, the association brings together merchants from all over the world.
Ogura Mio: The only thing is their prices... they're not the cheapest. In times like these, though, we're lucky to even have an option of getting hold of the things we want in the first place.
Paimon: Huh, so even just getting clothes made is an ordeal in Inazuma... Wait, the International Trade Association? That's Kurisu's thing, right? We haven't been to Ritou in a while.
Sakura: After everything we've been through to get here.
Kamisato Ayaka: Hmm... It looks like that will be our next stop. Thank you ever so much. We will be back once we've acquired the fabric. In the meantime, I have one other very small request. Could you...
She whispers to Ogura Mio.
Paimon: Why's she being so secretive all of the sudden?
Sakura: I don't know.
Ogura Mio: Mm-hmm... Absolutely.
Kamisato Ayaka: Much obliged.
Ogura Mio: My pleasure, Miss Kamisato. Honestly, I'm just as excited as you to see the end product! We haven't made a silk kimono for the longest time now, and this is a beautiful design...
Kamisato Ayaka: That's very kind of you, thank you. Goodbye for now. Sakura, Higokumaru, Tamamo, Traveler, Paimon — let's try our luck at the International Trade Association.
Ogura Mio: I do hope you manage to get hold of your silk.
As they were leaving Inazuma City, a little girl from a corner of a building was watching them leave. But it wasn't just any normal little girl. It was...
Sirin.
She was in her old clothing before being taken away and turning into the Herrscher of the Void.
Sirin: Everyone from our world is enjoying this world. So should I.
Behind her was Bella in her ELF form so small.
Bella: Lady Sirin, when will you reveal yourself to them?
Sirin: I don't know. I don't have the confidence to do it yet. Just follow me.
Bella: Yes Lady Sirin.
(With Seele)
Seele was out in the open wilds all by herself and all alone. Bronya had to go do something on her own leaving Seele on solo.
Seele: It's scary being all alone. What if there's a powerful monster that I can't beat alone.
???: Then you should leave them to me.
From her body came the black and red version of herself, Veliona/Seele?.
Veliona: Your be better off letting me take care of the super powerful monsters.
But then another voice sounded from an illusion of someone.
???: You're so cute and scared for a small fry.
Seele got frightened then summoned her scythe while she turned around. Then from the distance came a 9 tailed fox girl.
Akagi.
Seele: Stay back!
Akagi stops.
Akagi: Is that how you treat someone voiced by the same person as you in Japanese?
Seele: Big Brother hates you for everything you've done! You turned Sakura Empire, Iron Blood, Vichya Dominion, and Sardegna Empire against humanity in your world! And you made a stupid deal with your enemy all to bring back some stupid family member!
Akagi: I am indeed a villain. But my fans don't care. Amagi was everything to me, and Kaga was all that's left of her. I was going to get rid of her after Amagi was brought back since I pretended to care for her after Amagi was killed and I had nothing left. I kept getting into fights with her but Amagi always stopped them. Now I'm going to silence you.
Fire erupted from behind her.
Seele: I'm dead.
???: I hope you ladies are ready.
Seele: Huh?
Another person came out of nowhere. This time it was Juvia Lockser. Another character voiced by Mai Nakahara.
Seele: What?! Why are you here?!
Juvia: No reason really.
Akagi: You're so awfully naive.
Juvia: Maybe I am.
Seele: More trouble for me!
???: That's enough. Your weakness disgusts me.
And then comes Mifuyu Azusa. In her magical girl form.
Mifuyu: I wouldn't want to miss this opportunity to meet others with the same voice as me.
Akagi: Well well. You both look like you might be a challenge.
The three began to charge up their attacks.
Seele: Uh oh. I better get out of here right now!
Seele instantly runs away to get away from the fight.
Juvia: Water Ray!
Akagi: Love's Fire!
Mifuyu: Illusions and Mirages!
When their attacks made contact, the area they were in exploded. Luckily Seele got away.
Seele: That was so frightening.
(Ritou)
Kamisato Ayaka: This is it, the International Trade Association.
Sakura: It's only been a few days and we're back here.
Paimon: Okay, then... we need to talk to Kurisu, right? Doesn't look like he's here. Let's look around!
So they looked around for him till Paimon spotted him.
Paimon: Look, look! There he is!
Kamisato Ayaka: Ah, looks like we found him.
They went up to him but something was wrong with him.
Kurisu: *whimpering* What am I going to do...
Kamisato Ayaka: Mr. Kurisu, are you alright?
Kurisu: Oh! You're M—Miss Ayaka from the K—Kamisato clan? How do you do!
Kamisato Ayaka: Better than you, it appears.
Kurisu: And if it isn't Sakura, her servant Tamamo No Mae, and the Traveler... I haven't seen you in a while — I take it you've been out of Ritou?
Aether: It sure has been a bit.
Sakura: We've been showing him around Inazuma.
Kurisu: Thanks again for your help last time. The Association is back in business, and it's all thanks to you.
Paimon: That's great, but uh... Why were you staring into space right now? Did something bad happen?
Tamamo: We'd like to know.
Kurisu: Well... you see... *sigh* It's embarrassing to admit, but some of the Association's goods have been... stolen. By vagrants.
Higokumaru: Stolen?
Kamisato Ayaka: Which goods were stolen?
Kurisu: It was a batch of high-grade silk.
Kamisato Ayaka: ...!
Tamamo: not the silk!
Kurisu: We imported a big batch of silk from Liyue several years ago. It's been sitting in storage ever since.
Higokumaru: That's horrible!
Kurisu: Recently, we heard that clothing stores in the city have more or less sold off all their silk stocks. So we figured now would be a good time to bring our batch out of storage, thinking it'd probably fetch a good price. But then... The vagrants swiped the whole batch then disappeared into the woods. I'd report it to the authorities, but... Well, as you know, they don't think much of foreign merchants like us. The Kanjou Commission don't want to give us the time of day — honestly, you can just tell that our suffering amuses them...
Kamisato Ayaka: While I also take issue with aspects of the Kanjou Commission's operational methods, please remember, Mr. Kurisu, that while you are here in Inazuma, you should be careful with your words.
Sakura: It's not safe for foreigners like you.
Kurisu: Oh! M—My apologies... I had to let off some steam... Anyway, there doesn't seem to be much we can do ourselves to get our goods back. *sigh* Perhaps I'm doomed to go bankrupt after all...
Kamisato Ayaka: I'm afraid I can't intervene in an official capacity... but I can still help you get your lost goods back.
Kurisu: Of course, I would never— Wait, what!?
Paimon: Huh!?
Foxs: Eh!?
Aether: Seriously?
Kamisato Ayaka: Yes. Acting in my own of capacity, mind you. Even then, there is no escaping the fact that my every action and word will be seen to reflect on the Yashiro Commission and the Kamisato Clan. I do so not without reservations, so... I hope that you will treat this matter as confidential. That aside — as I'm sure you're aware, I'm afraid that I won't always be able to help you in such circumstances. Given your position and that of the International Trade Association... please try to exercise more caution in the future. You do not want to incur further unnecessary losses.
Kurisu: We will, we certainly will! But, um... are you sure this isn't going to cause any issues... for you? What if someone high up in the Kanjou Commission sees what you're doing and doesn't like it? You're a highly respected member of society... Surely, putting your neck on the line for small-timers like me can't be worth the risk!?
Kamisato Ayaka: Very humorous. Let's not forget that I am the eldest daughter of the Kamisato Clan. I would be very surprised indeed if anybody in the Kanjou Commission felt that I was accountable to them for my actions.
Sakura: That is true.
Paimon: Whoa, that sent shivers down Paimon's spine! Does everyone form a powerful clan talk like that?
Sakura: I've seen powerful clans talk like that before. So yes.
Kamisato Ayaka: Mr. Kurisu, I need to know the exact time and location of the theft, and anything that stood out about the perpetrators' appearance.
Kurisu: Thank you so much! Let's see, it was two hours ago now, over at the...
Kurisu explains whys and wherefores of the serial theft cases...
Kamisato Ayaka: Everyone, please follow me to the scene of the crime. The investigation starts there...
Paimon: Alright, off we go!
Tamamo: Let's go get the silk back! Mikon~
(With Sirin and Bella)
Sirin was just walking out in the open with Bella floating behind her but that's when a sword comes flying out of nowhere. Sirin senses it then used a void portal and sends it in a different direction.
???: Pretty Impressive for a faker.
Sirin growls then transforms into her aberré her awakening while Bella changed into her full human form.
Sirin: Who's there?!
Bella: Show yourself!
???: Take a guess mongrels.
They turned around and saw a person wearing golden armor and with blond hair.
Gilgamesh.
He stops a few feet from the duo.
Gilgamesh: Hello fake copy.
Sirin: What are you doing here?! Patrick never invited you!
Gilgamesh: I am a king. I can come Wether I'm invited or not.
Sirin: And I'm a queen and a goddess. You are the mongrel here!
Gilgamesh: You dare call me a mongrel?! I'll show you who the mongrel is!
Bella: You won't lay a single dirty hand on my queen!
Bella charges in to kill Gilgamesh.
Gilgamesh: Restrain her, Enkidu!
Chains come out of portals and restrain Bella.
Gilgamesh: You stay out of this little dragon. This is between a king and a queen.
Bella: How dare you call me that! I'll kill you!
Sirin gets made then floats up into the air and activates her Ultimate.
Gilgamesh: Using my move now. Seems like I should use my noble phantasm too.
Portals appear behind Gilgamesh then different weapons come out.
Sirin: Void Unleashed!
Gilgamesh: Gate of Babylon!
Both use their portal attacks which then caused an explosion. It was heard from far.
Kamisato Ayaka: Hmm? What was that?
Tamamo: It's nothing you need to know about. Mikon~
(Upon reaching the scene)
Kurisu: Here we are. This is where we were robbed.
Paimon: Hey, look on the ground! What're those?
Kurisu: Huh...? Footprints! Very deep ones at that... leading towards the forest.
Sakura used her Elemental Sight but found no traces of elements.
Kamisato Ayaka: Hmm, presumably the depth suggests that they were carrying something heavy.
Paimon: Let's see were they lead!
(At the end of footprints trail)
They found the thieves. They were Ronins.
Higokumaru: Freeze! Stop right there!
Paimon: Stop thief!
Ronin: Hah! You think you can get your stuff back with this bunch? You must be dreaming.
Kurisu: Why you... You better hope you have the courage of your convictions...
Tamamo: Because if you don't, we're going to kill you.
Ronin: Why wouldn't I, old man? Answer me this — you're one of those outlander merchants, right? You trade association types are worms, coming over to our land, leeching off our people... Who's gonna leap to your defense, huh? Tell me, who's gonna stick their neck out for the likes of you?
Kamisato Ayaka: ...
Ronin: Hahaha! Look at that, no response. You know I'm right.
Sakura: You're wrong. We will.
Higokumaru: We are going to leap into his defense!
Ronin: Face it. This is Inazuma, you've got no ties here, you're at the bottom of the pile... Can you really blame us for walking all over you?
Kurisu: ...You are despicable...
Sakura held her hand out to summon one of her swords.
Sakura: And disgraceful.
Ronin: Hey! I just had an idea. Since you came all this way — how about we do some business?
Kurisu: Business?
Sakura: What kind of business?
Ronin: Pay up, and you can take your fabric back. Sound good? If you ask me, it beats walking out of here with black eyes and a broken nose.
Paimon: *gasp*You're just a big bully!
Higokumaru: And an evil villain!
Kurisu: I... Ugh! What choice do I have...
Kamisato Ayaka: Wait.
Kamisato Ayaka: Mr. Kurisu, please do not pay any money to this man.
Kurisu: But, but...
Kamisato Ayaka: I trust you remember our agreement? If you keep your lips firmly sealed, I, too, shall uphold my end of the deal.
Kurisu: Oh, yes, of course!
Kamisato Ayaka: MAIN: Then please stand well back, where it is safe. Now... it is time for me to honor my word.
Ayaka summoned her sword then she took on the Ronin. She turned into ice then clocks herself in a frozen fog of ice that moved with her. Then when she rises back up she slashed one of the Ronin and he falls.
Sakura: She can move fast with cloaking like Mona. And she can move very fast with slashing like I can. And she can unleash a flurry of sword ki like me. I taught her a lot of things.
After Ayaka defeated the three, more showed up. Aether and Sakura jumped in and helped her.
Paimon: Well, that's that resolved then!
Kamisato Ayaka: ...Phew.
Aether: That was amazing, Ayaka.
Sakura: You are just as wrong as we first met.
Tamamo: Sakura's teachings really did the trick.
Kamisato Ayaka: No, please, I... It was nothing. I was simply doing my duty.
Kurisu: Miss Kamisato, Sakura, Traveler, a—are you hurt!?
Kamisato Ayaka: Don't worry. We're fine.
Tamamo: Master is tough and can't be beat. Mikon~
Kamisato Ayaka: The vagrants left in quite a hurry — it would seem they didn't have time to take anything with them. I believe your stolen goods should all be here.
Kurisu: Th—Thank you, thank you so much...
Higokumaru: Oh it was nothing.
Kamisato Ayaka: You'd best do a count.
Kurisu: 6,8,10... Yep, it's all here!
Paimon: Great! Now we can finally buy some silk!
Kurisu: Buy silk? ...You mean, you need some of this silk, here?
Kamisato Ayaka: This was indeed our intent.
Paimon: Don't get us wrong though, that's not the reason we helped you out! Even if it were just a few Carrots or Cabbages, chances are we still would've helped you get them back. Paimon thinks we were pretty lucky! If we'd arrived any later, our chances of getting silk in Inazuma would have been zero...
Higokumaru: And we would have to go back to Liyue to get some more silk.
Kurisu: I honestly can't thank you all enough... Please, say no more! You need silk? I'll pick a piece out for you right away!
Kamisato Ayaka: Thank you, good sir. How much do I owe you?
Kurisu: Oh, it's free of charge! I could never ask you to pay after everything you've done for me!
Kamisato Ayaka: No, no, that will never do. Things cost what they cost, and what they cost is what I shall pay. Merchants already have enough challenges to deal with, and as Paimon explained, my help was unconditional. Please, sell your wares to me at the price you would sell them to any other customer. There is nothing to feel distressed about, because nothing, I repeat, nothing happened here in these woods today. Did it?
Aether: Nope, just an uneventful stroll in the woods.
Kurisu: Thank you, I... I don't think I can ever repay you. You have helped me greatly, and I will never forget it. I'm afraid we must part ways — I must get these goods back to the Association. If you ever need anything at all, just come to the International Trade Association and ask for Kurisu!
Kamisato Ayaka: Very well, and thank you for the silk, Mr. Kurisu.
Paimon: See ya then, bye! Safe journey home, don't go getting robbed again!
Ayaka buys the fabric, and Kurisu thanks and bids them all goodbye...
Kamisato Ayaka: Sakura, Traveler, thank you for stepping in to help out.
Sakura: Anything for a friend.
Aether: No worries, it's what I signed up for.
Paimon: But... how come those vagrants didn't seem to know who you were? They must move in completely different circles, maybe they've never seen anyone from the Kamisato Clan before?
Kamisato Ayaka: Perhaps. Either way, I'm glad they didn't recognize me. The fewer people who know what happened today, the better.
Sakura: Not everyone in Inazuma knows me either. Most of them haven't noticed that I look like Miko.
Paimon: Hee-hee, it's not every day an important person like you helps out someone like Kurisu. It really shows what a great person you are.
Kamisato Ayaka: Oh, uh... Your praise is quite unwarranted. I merely did what anyone in my position would have done... I admit that it did feel strange for me to come to his aid... But this should have nothing to do with identity, or social class... As far as I'm concerned, it was one individual helping another in need.
Sakura: I've had to help her cover her tracks.
Kamisato Ayaka: I guess that deep down... I don't see how a society can be considered just when people encounter such obstacles in their livelihoods... Ah! Sorry, I'm getting off topic.
Aether: No problem.
Kamisato Ayaka: Right. Let's head back to Ogura Textiles & Kimonos and give our hard-won silk to the shopkeeper.
Paimon: Okay!
(Ogura's Textiles & Kimonos)
Paimon: Hey there, we're back!
Ogura Mio: Welcome back! So, any luck at the International Trade Association? Did they have any silk in stock?
Kamisato Ayaka: Yes, they did. Here.
Ayaka hands the silk over.
Ogura Mio: Excellent news! So, apart from the silk, I think everything else I need, I've got in store already... I just need to go and take stock of our material — it won't take me a moment. I'll be right back.
Paimon: They'd better be all there!
Higokumaru: They better!
Kamisato Ayaka: I do hope nothing else is missing.
Sakura: I hope so too.
Kamisato Ayaka: Traveler, on the subject of garments, I've been meaning to acquire a new outfit for you, too. It's just... I wasn't sure how you'd feel about the idea of dressing in Inazuman attire...
Sakura: Come to think of it, you haven't worn anything else besides your attire. You should try something new on.
Aether: It's a kind thought, but I'm fine with my current outfit.
Kamisato Ayaka: Oh? Are you sure?
Aether: These clothes are special to me. If I'm too concerned about my appearance, I'll lose my edge in battle.
Sakura: (Would of liked to see you in Tanjiro's Demon Slayer uniform or any of the clothing worn by the characters voiced by Zach Aguilar. Patrick would of liked to see that too).
Kamisato Ayaka: Is that so...
Kamisato Ayaka: Impressive... So, travelers of your stature hold themselves to a dress code, as well as a code of conduct.
Paimon: Hmm... More like, when you're away from home, you've gotta live by certain rules to survive, whether you like it or not. But Paimon would still love to check out some Inazuman outifts!
Aether: Do they do Paimon sizes here?
Paimon: Just what is that supposed to mean? They make them in whatever size the customer asks for!
Sakura: My servant and I could try to make you some Paimon sizes or we could find you doll size.
Paimon: WHAT?!
Tamamo: Master and I are in attires that are similar to Inazumin attires and everyone in Inazuma thinks we're from Inazuma. Mikon~
Higokumaru: You could wear a copy of my attire. Just a suggestion.
Paimon: I'm gonna give you three, bad nicknames! Paimon will show you what happens when you mess with Paimon!
Kamisato Ayaka: Hahaha, ah, your interactions are so adorable to watch... Ahem! I mean, um... I can certainly find someone to tailor a Paimon-sized outfit, if Paimon so wishes.
Aether: Ayaka, you're too kind. Thanks, but Paimon and I are fine as we are.
Sakura: I've shown you my attires but I could try some Inazumin attires.
Tamamo: Me too. I've got this blue dress but I could try more colors and patterns.
Kamisato Ayaka: Hm, well if you're sure... As you wish. Something else I've been wondering is... how do people in other nations dress?
Sakura: They dress very strangely.
Higokumaru: It's so true — people dress in all kinds of ways! Some people like to wear a hood, some cover up half their face with a mask, some just straight-up dress like a peacock... Oh, and some have their tummy on show, others wear skin-tight leotards and leggings... If you can imagine it, I can guarantee that someone out there is wearing it!
Kamisato Ayaka: Really? So there is no single standard, and people just dress however they like? So fascinating... Somehow, I feel a little envious...
Higokumaru: Wait, so you wanna dress like a peacock now?
Kamisato Ayaka: No, of course not! I—I just mean... I admire those who are able to do as they please. I would very much like to travel across the seven nations... and see how people live.
Aether: They dress very stylishly.
Paimon: They sure do! Each nation has its own unique style — traditional, fancy-schmancy, casual... All very different, but each style is suited to its region.
Kamisato Ayaka: The study of clothing is a profound discipline, and I have much still to learn. When clothing becomes part of the expression of one's personality, even an extension of one's body... That is quite a wonderful thing. So I am not against dressing up, far from it.
Paimon: Paimon agrees! You couldn't have put it any better!
Kamisato Ayaka: Paimon, you're so adorable that you could wear anything and it would look lovely on you.
Paimon: Wow! Hee-hee, Paimon just got a compliment! You hear that Traveler!?
Ogura Mio: Sorry to keep you waiting! I've checked my inventory.
Kamisato Ayaka: Thank you, is there anything else you're missing?
Ogura Mio: Fortunately not! I have all the materials I need. As for the size — would you like me to go by the dimensions given on the design?
Kamisato Ayaka: Yes please.
Ogura Mio: Understood, I'll get to work shortly. In total, that'll be... this much!
Kamisato Ayaka: Here you go. Is it possible to treat this as an urgent order?
Ogura Mio: Well, luckily, we don't have any other urgents at the moment, so I can begin work right away. It will still take me some time, though, so please come and collect it later. Until then, I'm sure you'll find somewhere nearby to pass the time.
Paimon: Good idea! Let's check out the whole area, we don't leave any loose ends.
Kamisato Ayaka: Haha, there will be no loose ends while you're in my company. I already decided where to go while we wait.
Higokumaru: Really? Where?
Kamisato Ayaka: For our next stop, I'd like to take you both for a meal.
Paimon: Fooood! Ooh, Paimon likes this plan!
Aether: Perfect, I'm getting a little hungry myself.
Kamisato Ayaka: Mm-hmm, I picked the venue especially for you — a humble local eatery called Kiminami Restaurant. I thought that the relaxed atmosphere there would suit our day much better than the prohibitively formal one of a high-end restaurant.
Kamisato Ayaka: Shall we head off?
Paimon: Yup yup, Paimon can't wait!
Ogura Mio: The garment will be ready later. Why not look around the area in the meantime?
Tamamo: We will. See you later. Mikon~
(With Patrick and Kiana)
They were flying over the clouds on Toriyama going back to Inazuma.
Kiana: Alright! Now that I have Pyro unlocked, I can transform into the Herrscher of Flamescon!
Patrick: You sure will.
Kiana: And since Sirin is an ELF, are you going to make Drago into an ELF too?
Patrick: I suppose I could. He will do Fire damage and boost all elemental skills. In ELF "Academy" I saw how Bella was Yandere over Sirin and made me wounded if she would act like Vanilla/Cool Ice.
Kiana: She probably would.
The camera zoomed out then Toriyama went off camera.
(Inazuma City)
The group walked to the restaurant together and arrived.
Paimon: Are we here? Ooh, it's one of those streetside places! Looks cute and cozy!
Kiminami Anna: Welcome!
Kamisato Ayaka: Miss Kiminami, how do you do?
Kiminami Anna: Aha, Miss Kamisato! Perfect timing. Your booking was for... Well, right now!
Kamisato Ayaka: I believe so. We'll be sticking to the order I placed in advance. As for the other matter we discussed... Thank you for your help.
Kiminami Anna: Excellent, no problem. And everything you asked for is ready and waiting. Sakura, Tamamo, Traveler, tiny customers, please wait here for a moment while I prepare your food.
Sakura: Sure thing Miss Kiminami.
Kamisato Ayaka: Go ahead and take a seat. There's something I need to take care of, but I'll be back momentarily.
Aether: Is something the matter?
Sakura: Is it a fight? Do you need backup?
Kamisato Ayaka: Ahem... It's nothing of that sort. I just have a few minor things I need to attend to. I won't be long.
Sakura: What ever you say, Ayaka.
And then she races away.
Paimon She sure left in a hurry... Whatever it is, it must be pretty urgent.
Kiminami Anna: So, you two are also Miss Kamisato's friends?
Sakura: Yes they are.
Kiminami Anna: Haha, well, we serve all the classics. Sure there are fancier-looking places out there, but the food here speaks for itself! Hope you enjoy it. Over the years we've been in business, we've gotten to know the Kamisato Clan quite well. Then we got to know Sakura and her servants and her little companion too. Miss Kamisato and her brother are both fond of our food. They're always sending staff down here to order something and take it back to them. Her table booking surprised me — not least because it was a group reservation! This is the first time I've ever heard of Miss Kamisato going out for dinner with friends!
Paimon: The first time ever!?
Sakura: Exactly. We remember her first time here with us.
Kiminami Anna: Thats right we do.
Paimon: Whoa... Guess that makes us pretty important people, huh!
Kiminami Anna: Sure does, and I'm probably crossing the line here, but... I'm just telling you what others have told me. Apparently, Miss Kamisato doesn't have a lot of friends.
Aether: ...That really surprises me.
Paimon: How is that possible? She's so kind and polite to everyone, Paimon would've thought that would make her really popular.
Kiminami Anna: That's what I used to think, too. But it turns out the rules of social interaction are a bit more complicated than that.
Sakura: Tell them.
Kiminami Anna: Nobody in the neighborhood has a bad word to say about her. They all say she's beautiful, elegant, graceful, not to mention that she belongs to one of the most illustrious clans in the land. In short, they see her as a model young lady. But that's just it — people look at her and see a model of perfection, and they don't feel like that's something they can relate to. So the majority of kids from ordinary families don't dare even try to talk to her. So you see? On paper, she sounds like a girl everyone would want to get know, but in practice, she finds it difficult to make friends...
Paimon: Huh, Paimon never would have guessed...
Kiminami Anna: But when Sakura and Kallen and their little companions came along, she was able to make friends with them. Then she met Tamamo and Sakura's other familiars too.
Kiminami Anna: We don't speak all that much, but we do go quite a way back. I've always admired her for taking on so many responsibilities at such a young age. So it makes me really happy to see her here with friends today! Anyway — relax, enjoy your meal, and... please talk to her as much as possible. I know she'll appreciate it.
Kiminami Anna: Consider it a favor for the whole neighborhood... Look after her for us!
Sakura: Don't worry, we will.
???: Ah...!
A scream was heard.
Paimon: Huh? That sounded like Ayaka...!
Ayaka came rushing back.
Kamisato Ayaka: *sigh* I'm so sorry, Sakura and Traveler...
Aether: What's going on?
Sakura: Why did you scream?
Kamisato Ayaka: Could you join me over there for a minute? Um... I need your help with something.
Sakura: Ok, Ayaka.
They head towards the great noise...
Kamisato Ayaka: I'm sorry! I didn't want to drag you all away all of a sudden... I, um... just had a cooking catastrophe...
Paimon: Ooh, so that loud noise we heard came from the cooking pot...
Kamisato Ayaka: As you can see, this house is right next to the restaurant. It's where the owner lives. Actually, this whole compound is the family's private property. I asked Miss Kiminami to prepare some ingredients and utensils for me so that I could cook a special dish here.
Aether: Why would you be cooking?
Paimon: Right! If there's something you wanna eat, you could just order it from the menu!
Kamisato Ayaka: Actually... I wanted to cook something as a gift for Tsubaki. My mother mentioned in her notebook that Tsubaki enjoys food from all over the world. So I thought, if I'm going to meet Tsubaki, perhaps a dish from overseas would make a fitting gift...
Paimon: A dish from overseas? So anything from outside Inazuma counts, right?
Higokumaru: Could be.
Paimon: If so... then we've got lots of options, don't we?
Aether: Actually... I'm a bit of a pro in the kitchen. Actually so are the others like Mei.
Kamisato Ayaka: That's what I was thinking! You must have picked up a lot of knowledge about different cultures on your travels, hopefully including regional cuisines...
Kamisato Ayaka: Can I leave you to finish this task, then? Just as a personal favor... I—Is that okay...? I'll be indebted to you!
Aether: Sure thing.
Sakura: You can do it.
Kamisato Ayaka: Great! But... what kind of overseas dish would make a suitable gift? It needs to survive a journey from the kitchen to the recipient's doorstep...
Paimon: Oh, Paimon knows! There's one dish out there that was practically created for this purpose!
Higokumaru: Which one?!
Paimon: Pizza~!
Kamisato Ayaka: ..."Pizza"?
Paimon: It's an assortment of toppings and sauce spread over a bread base and cooked in the oven. And it's so good!
Tamamo: And with lots of cheese over the tomato sauce! Mikon~
Kamisato Ayaka: ...That does sound pretty good.
Tamamo goes back to Kiminami Anna.
Kiminami Anna: Hi Tamamo — is everything okay?
Tamamo: Oh everything is okay. No need to feel worried.
Kiminami Anna: I don't see Ayaka looking so flustered very often... Whatever it is, it must be a tricky situation.
Tamamo: It is but it's nothing to be concerned about. Now I better get back to her. Mikon~
Aether was able to make Mushroom Pizza for Ayaka.
Kamisato Ayaka: Is the pizza ready?
Paimon: Oh, it's ready!
Aether: Here it is.
Kamisato Ayaka: *sniff* It smells delicious... You're an excellent cook, Traveler.
Sakura: He sure is. We taught him more cooking skills and how to make more dishes.
Kamisato Ayaka: *sigh* I would love to be able to master dishes from all over the world...
Paimon: Well, all you need to learn is a recipe. We can bring you some more recipes in the future, if you like.
Kamisato Ayaka: Great! I look forward to learning from your culinary expertise.
Kiminami Anna: How are you all doing?
Kiminami Anna walks up to them.
Kiminami Anna: Whoa, is this...? Miss Kamisato, this must be the dish you were talking about?
Kamisato Ayaka: Yes, an overseas dish cooked by the Traveler.
Kamisato Ayaka: Could I trouble you to package it for me?
Kiminami Anna: Sure, no problem! Ooh, it smells good! I bet it tastes amazing. Aw, now I really want to put something like this on our menu...
Paimon: Hehe, want us to teach you how to make it?
Kamisato Ayaka: Oh! Could you?
Aether: Sure could.
Paimon: The most satisfying meals are the ones you share with other people. So Paimon thinks that our friends in Mondstadt wouldn't mind us sharing this dish with Inazuma.
Kiminami Anna: Really? Aw, that's great, I've always wanted to learn how to cook some international dishes! If you can write down a recipe for me, I'll add it to our menu and put a promotion where everyone will see it! Since we became a closed nation, people haven't had the chance to try anything new. Traveler, you're the best! I'll go pack up this dish for Miss Kamisato. Please make your way back to the restaurant whenever you're ready, the food will be waiting for you.
Kamisato Ayaka: You could have sold that recipe for a high price, but you selflessly gave it away for free... ...You're a wonderful person.
Aether: Aw shucks, Ayaka...
Kamisato Ayaka: I mean it... I admire you a lot, and I'm so proud to be friends with someone of such fine character. Well, you should probably write down the recipe now, no?
Paimon: Yeah, Aether, let's make sure we include all the details and then give it to Miss Kiminami! So, pizza! Start with the basic ingredients.
Aether: Mushroom + Flour
Paimon: Correctamundo!
Aether: Cabbage + Cheese
Paimon: Thats about everything right!
Paimon: Now to add the cooking instructions... "Place onto oven rack at high heat and cook till golden brown."
Paimon: Alright, it's done!
Paimon: Long may our reputations and our recipes precede us, wherever we go in Inazuma!
Kamisato Ayaka: I have no doubt that they will. This dish is exquisite.
Paimon: Cool, then let's get this recipe to Miss Kiminami, pronto!
They return back to Kiminami Anna.
Kiminami Anna: Hey! Have you written out the recipe?
Sakura: Yes we have.
Kamisato Ayaka: Here's it is!
Kiminami Anna: Thank you! Wowee, this is so exciting! I want to make it right away.
Kamisato Ayaka: Sakura, Tamamo, Higokumaru, Traveler, Paimon, please accept my sincerest apologies for delaying your meal.
Paimon: Hehe, no problem! Food always tastes better when you've worked up an appetite.
Sakura: There is no need to apologize.
Kamisato Ayaka: Alright, let's dig in before it gets cold.
So they dig into the food.
Kamisato Ayaka: Well, what do you think? Is Inazuman cuisine to your liking?
Paimon: It's amazing! Paimon loved this one... Oh! And especially that one over there.
Aether: It was all very tasty. It was nice to try something new.
Kamisato Ayaka: Haha, good. I'm relieved.
Sakura: Eating a Inazuma's food reminds me of home back in Yae Village and at St. Freya.
Kamisato Ayaka: Um... When I was attempting to cook earlier on, did you... chat with the owner at all?
Higokumaru: Yes we did.
Kamisato Ayaka: And did she, uh... say anything about me?
Paimon: She did, but don't worry, she's just happy for you is all.
Kamisato Ayaka: She's... happy for me?
Kamisato Ayaka: Oh... then... she must have told you. D—Did she, um... *sigh* What does it matter... I know just as well as anybody else that I've got no friends...
Paimon: Hey, it's not you, most people just haven't had the chance to talk to you one-on-one before.
Sakura: And you do have friends now. Us.
Kamisato Ayaka: Thank you for your comforting words, Paimon. Sakura. It's all true though. I just... don't have very many friends. Most of the time I'm either accompanied by family or staff. So everyone must have found it quite a surprise to see me taking you out for a meal...
Aether: Don't be silly! You've got a friend in me.
Tamamo: And us too.
Paimon: Exactly! You've got at least five friends right here!
Higokumaru: And the rest of the St. Freya Knights and Valkyries too!
Sakura: And the ELFs too.
Kamisato Ayaka: Aw... Thank you... that makes me so happy! Ahem, excuse me... I—I'm forgetting myself.
Paimon: Hey now, expressing your feelings is the right thing to do. Keeping them locked away inside isn't gonna do you any good, now is it?
Kamisato Ayaka: I agree! So... I just want to say how happy I feel... that you all see me as a true friend.
Paimon: Of course we do. That's always been our style - if someone's nice to us, we're nice to them, too!
Sakura: Thats right. Since first arriving in Inazuma we've become great friends, Ayaka. Some of us went through the same things you did with having no friends but we managed to find each other and become friends.
Paimon: Friendship can go a long way! Take your mom for example — she wrote about Tsubaki in her notebook, and now it's made you want to find them, too.
Kamisato Ayaka: Yes! I think friendship is an extremely precious thing, and ours is one that I will always treasure.
Paimon: Um, while we're on the topic though — who is this Tsubaki person, anyway?
Kamisato Ayaka: Well, I think I have an idea, but it's just speculative at this point.
Aether: I'm all ears.
Kamisato Ayaka: I think that Tsubaki... might be a fox envoy!
Aether: ...?
Paimon: A fox envoy?
Sakura: A fox envoy?
Kamisato Ayaka: Yes. That's what I think. Even I, my mother's own daughter, had never ever heard of this friend before. It just seems so mysterious. So I think it must be someone with transcendent abilities who doesn't show themselves very often. And fox envoys are nothing new. Stories have been told about them in Inazuma since ancient times.
Kamisato Ayaka: You must have met Guuji Yae before? Well, she's a fox envoy!
Kamisato Ayaka: That got me thinking, maybe there are fox envoys out there in Inazuma that people just don't know about... and maybe Tsubaki is one of them.
Sakura: When we first met Ayaka, she thought that the three of us were fox envoys. Because of our fox ears.
Higokumaru: And our tails too.
Tamamo: I'm actually a kitsune. With only one tail.
Paimon: Whoa, so Inazuma also has supernatural beings?
Kamisato Ayaka: Uh, when you say "also"
Paimon: Well, before Inazuma we spent some time in Liyue. They have lots of supernatural beings there, like the adepti. All kinds of them, too... Up in the sky, down below the ground, in the water...
Sakura: I've met lots of supernatural beings. Like dragons and phoenixes. Even deities.
Kamisato Ayaka: Really... I have come across such things being asserted in books, but to hear someone talk about it from firsthand experience is extremely surprising. So, Liyue lives up to its reputation... Its culture has a long history and gives rise to the most beautiful legends. Quite captivating.
Paimon: You should come visit Liyue with us some time. The best part is... they have loads and loads of delicious delicacies!
Kamisato Ayaka: Really? I would love that! Speaking of delicacies — Traveler, Paimon, have you eaten your fill?
Paimon: Oh, Paimon has!
Higokumaru: So did we.
Kamisato Ayaka: Excellent, then let's collect the kimono. Then we can pay a visit to my mother's mysterious and transcendent friend...
(Ogura Textiles & Kimonos)
Ogura Mio: Your garment is ready, Miss Kamisato. I've folded and packages it for you. Oh, and the other item we discussed — that's ready too!
Kamisato Ayaka: Thank you very much.
Ogura Mio: No, thank you! It is a beautiful piece of clothing, and it was a pleasure to work on. See you again next time!
As they left Ayaka suddenly stopped them.
Kamisato Ayaka: Traveler, I have a gift for you.
Aether: Hmm? really?
Paimon: Whoa... Looks super fancy! Is that for wearing in your hair?
Kamisato Ayaka: It's a hairpin in the style of a white heron. As well as a hair accessory, you can also use it as an ornament. I couldn't ask for your help and offer nothing at all in return, so this is my gift to you.
Aether: It's a beautiful gift, thank you very much. I will take very good care of it.
Kamisato Ayaka: I'm glad you like it!
Paimon: Speaking of white herons, that's what your title means, doesn't it? Shirasagi Himegimi. So this gift is like a little piece of yourself. It's just as elegant and beautiful as you are.
Kamisato Ayaka: Hehe, you flatter me, Paimon. If this gift reminds you of me, that is all I could ask for.
Paimon: Hee-hee, it definitely will.
Sakura: She gave us hairpins too.
The three foxes showed their hairpins. They resembled foxes.
Ayaka: Sakura and I have more hairpins for the rest of your party. We'll give the hairpins to them once we find the right time to do it.
Paimon: Alright, well, now we've got what we came for, we can set off. Time to go meet Tsubaki!
(Designated Area)
Paimon: So a transcendent being lives here?
Tamamo: It looks like it.
Paimon: Brr... If someone lives here, then why is it so chilly?
Kamisato Ayaka: Hmm... I'm asking myself the same question... How strange, I'm quite sure that this is the location my mother wrote about, but... surely...
Aether: Maybe Tsubaki really is a fox envoy?
Kamisato Ayaka: Hmm... I'm starting to have second thoughts... But, since we're here, I still think we should go inside and explore in full.
Paimon: Yeah, makes sense. Who knows, maybe there's a surprise waiting in there for us. So, um... what does the notebook say, exactly?
Kamisato Ayaka: Let me think... "A crane brings 1 fresh flower in its beak to decorate my hair, while a white rabbit sews a hemline from 4 rays of moonlight. Dressed appropriately, I face eastward and call out Tsubaki's name 7 times. In the blink of an eye, I am standing on the path that leads to her house."
Higokumaru: Sounds like a riddle.
Paimon: Sounds like a fairytale... So your mom would do a little ritual and just like that, Tsubaki would come to meet her?
Aether: It does sound a lot like an adeptus, actually.
Kamisato Ayaka: I have a feeling that it could be some sort of code... Let's get a little closer before coming to any conclusions.
Paimon: Good idea!
Sakura: Tamamo, scout ahead.
Tamamo: You got it Master. Mikon~
Tamamo No Mae scouted ahead while the others followed. They were underneath the Raiden Shogun's palace. Tamamo went further until she noticed a conspicuous stone wall with a shrubbery.
Tamamo: I think I found something
Everyone got to Tamamo.
Paimon: There are some bushes on the rocks in here. Could that be anything?
Tamamo: Only one way to find out. Mikon~
They examined the wall.
Conspicuous Stone Wall: This wall looks a bit odd...
Sakura: Maybe if we do what the notebook says, something will happen.
Aether knocks one time, then four times, and then seven times.
There started to be sounds from the wall. Then it falls away.
Tamamo: Alright, it's opened.
They step inside and see a mysterious box. They open it.
Paimon: Did it open, did it open? Did our "Inazumadeptus" leave any treasure here?
Sakura: It's open.
Kamisato Ayaka: What's this?
Paimon: Huh... Looks like a book.
Kamisato Ayaka: It seems to be another notebook. Could it be Tsubaki's notebook...?
Tamamo: It could be.
Kamisato Ayaka: Let's step back outside now. The atmosphere here is different than I'd imagined. Somehow... it makes me a little reluctant to open the notebook.
Paimon: Paimon knows what you mean — reading in low light is really bad for your eyes. C'mon, let's get back outside!
(Outside)
Kamisato Ayaka: *sigh* Here will do just fine.
Paimon: Alright, let's see what the notebook says! Ooh, Paimon bets it's all about mysterious treasure! Ah, so exciting!
Aether: Psst, Paimon.
Paimon: Wha is it? Why are you whispering all of a sudden? You're making Paimon nervous...
Aether: Come with me. Let's go over there.
Sakura: Why?
Aether: Just follow me.
So they did, except Ayaka.
Kamisato Ayaka: ...
Paimon: Ohhhh, you want to let Ayaka read the notebook without distraction. Seems whatever's written in there must be pretty major after all.
Paimon: But, um, based on her expression... probably not a treasure map. Hmm, what could it be?
Kamisato Ayaka: ... *long exhale* Sakura, Tamamo, Higokumaru, Traveler, Paimon, sorry to keep you waiting so long.
Paimon: No worries, it wasn't long at all! You're a very fast reader.
Aether: Have you finished reading the notebook?
Kamisato Ayaka: Yes, I have. I think I ought to share the truth of this notebook with you all. Even though the contents are completely different than what I was expecting...
Paimon: Different how? You mean, it wasn't a fox envoy who wrote this?
Kamisato Ayaka: Not a fox envoy, no. It turns out that Tsubaki's real identity... ...is my mother herself.
Foxes and Paimon: Huh!?
Kamisato Ayaka: Surprised? M—Me too... But that's what it says at the very beginning of the notebook. Ahem... "Tsubaki and I are the same person, and yet we are different. When I become Tsubaki, I stop being Kamisato Kayo and become the most ordinary woman in the world. What follows in these pages is the ordinary, everyday life of a regular person. Nothing more, Nothing less." This notebook is, for the most part, a collection of my mother's musings, both private and trivial. All of the things we thought about Tsubaki... were in fact about my mother herself.
Paimon: So... that means that the kimono design, and the international dishes...
Kamisato Ayaka: Are things that my mother wished to try, yes. I'm sure this all sounds utterly bizarre to you, but to me at least, my mother's behavior is completely understandable. Or to put it another way, I... I—I actually have another side to myself as well. I was at a loss for words when I started reading the contents of the notebook... It almost felt like... like someone had looked inside my mind, examined my thoughts, and then written them all down on paper...
Sakura and Paimon: Ayaka...
Kamisato Ayaka: From the moment my mother married my father, she became the mother of the Kamisato household, and with that came all sorts of duties. At the same time, the prestige of the Yahsiro Commission brought its own share of responsibility. On top of that, every action she ever took was seen as representing the Kamisato Clan. People were always watching her. Under such circumstances, she never had much time to do things she really wanted to do. After my father passed away, Ayato and I took over responsibility for the affairs of the clan. We ran into all sorts of difficulties during that time... I'm not sure if people outside the clan could ever imagine what it was like. Every time I found myself up against a difficult issue, I'd ask myself: Did my mother go through this, too? What would she have done in this situation? Maybe it's because it'd been so long since I last saw her, but... somehow, all that was left of her in my mind was the side of her that inspired awe and commanded respect...
Aether: ...
Sakura: Ayaka.
Kamisato Ayaka: But... my image of her was incorrect. When I read this notebook, I realized... She was just like me. Underneath whatever position she may have held, she was just an ordinary person. She liked pretty kimonos, she wanted to try food from different places, she yearned to see sights she'd never seen before... Maybe this all sounds immature to you, but... I feel just the same way. I want to live life not as Kamisato Ayaka, but as an ordinary woman. Mother wrote that she'd always wanted to go to a local Inazuman festival. She said that sometimes, on a clear night, if you looked out from our house, you could see lights off in the distance. I've seen those lights too! It looks so lively with so many people — and it's so brightly lit it makes the whole sky glow... Of course, sometimes it does make me a bit anxious from a public order perspective. But for someone of my position to just show up at a festival with no warning — it could be considered improper etiquette. Especially in my parents' generation, when the Yashiro Commission didn't have a particularly close relationship with the populace... Even if no one stopped us, the idea of the Yashiro Commission going out into the crowd... It'd certainly draw some strange looks. People would probably start thinking there was a trouble afoot. Mother said that she didn't want to put people on edge — she wanted everyone to enjoy the fun and freedom of the festival... She didn't want to disturb them, and didn't have much free time anyway, so she never went. Not even once.
Paimon: Aw... So the kimono design — that must have been the outfit she planned on wearing if she ever did go to a festival, right?
Kamisato Ayaka: That's right. And sometimes, festivals sell international food. She wanted to try that, too.
Higokumaru: But she never did.
Tamamo: She never got to do those things.
Kamisato Ayaka: I hope this isn't a disrespectful thing to say, but... I never knew my mother was so in touch with her inner child, haha.
Paimon: That's not disrespectful at all! Paimon thinks your mom was the best of both — a big softie on the inside and a big sense of responsibility on the outside!
Kamisato Ayaka: ... Without knowing it, I've ended up fulfilling several of my mother's wishes already. *sigh* But going to a festival is the one thing that I cannot do for her.
Kamisato Ayaka: Perhaps this is one thing that can simply never be.
Aether: You've already achieved so many things. It's not your fault, it's just the way things are.
Sakura: And you are so special, Ayaka.
Kamisato Ayaka: I understand. ...Thank you. I think I realize something now.
Sakura: What is it?
Kamisato Ayaka: Mother and I are so similar in so many ways. The things she faces are things that I too will go on to face. She chose to place her unfulfilled wishes onto the identity of Tsubaki. As for me... I've already decided.
Paimon: Oh! So you've decided on an alter ego too?
Kamisato Ayaka: No, um... I don't plan to do anything like that. I think... I think I will set myself a new goal: To live each day without regrets. So, um... Traveler, I... Ahem...
Kamisato Ayaka: Whew, deep breaths, Ayaka, deep breaths... *sigh* Would you be at all interested in checking out an Inazuman festival?
Paimon: Paimon's been dying to go ever since we saw that poster! Paimon would love to go with you Ayaka!
Sakura: She's already asked us and we accepted.
Aether: So, you've really never been to a festival?
Kamisato Ayaka: Hey, come on, don't make fun! It's just because I used to have the same concerns that my mother did... but now, I think I don't need to worry about it so much. I'm going to be true to myself and fulfill the wish that my mother and I shared. I know that you of all people can understand me going my own way on this... So... let's do this, you and me! Let's go to a festival together!
Aether: I'd love to join you.
Paimon: Paimon wants to come! Festivals here have loads of tasty snacks too, right? Oh, and fun and games? Hee-hee!
Kamisato Ayaka: ...Great! Thanks, you guys! If we head over now, we should still make it in time.
Paimon: Oh, good point, today's the last day, right? What are we waiting for — let's go!
(Amakane Island)
It had become night once they arrived.
Paimon: We're here! But it doesn't seem as lively as Paimon imagined...What's going on?
Kamisato Ayaka: Since it's the final day, many of the visitors must have already returned home.
Kamisato Ayaka: I've heard that the peddlers often close up shop earlier on the last day because there are fewer people around.
Aether: Are we too late?
Sakura: It looks like it.
Kamisato Ayaka: Hmm...I'll go and ask. Whatever happens, I at least need to go inside, just this once. Hm!
Paimon: That's the way to go! We'll be right there with you
(Mask stall)
Kamisato Ayaka: It hasn't closed yet, it's just that there aren't many people left... Let's hurry and see as much as we can!
Tamamo: We better make the most of it.
Paimon: Hey, look at that stall! They have so many masks! Paimon's heard that everyone's supposed to wear a mask at these kinds of festivals. Is that rule still around nowadays, or...?
Kamisato Ayaka: That used to be the custom, yes, and today, it's still a popular way to dress up during festivals. But it's not a hard-and-fast rule.
Sakura: When making sacrifices in my village, we've had to wear masks. Including at festivals too.
Sanden: Hey! Isn't that Miss Kamisato?
Kamisato Ayaka: Oh! Uh... Ahem. Greetings.
Paimon: People seem to recognize Ayaka whenever we go! Guess that's just what it's like when you're a famous Inazuman...
Sanden: Hahaha, but of course! The Kamisato Clan leads the Yashiro Commission. It's one of the most well-known clans in Inazuma. Not least because back when Master and Miss Kamisato had just taken over the family's affairs, they used to make public appearances all the time. Some of the younger generations have never even seen Miss Kamisato in person before. Being the age I am — I'm lucky enough to have seen her on many occasions over the years.
Kamisato Ayaka: You're too kind. My brother and I simply go where we must fulfill our duties.
Sanden: Haha, but this is the first time I've seen anyone from your family at a festival. There must be some official business, I take it?
Kamisato Ayaka: ... Oh, there isn't, actually. Today, I'm taking my traveler friend here around to see the sights.
Sanden: Oh? A traveler? Huh, now that you mention it... You do look like you've come a long way to get here! First time in Inazuma? Hope you enjoy yourself, young one.
Sakura: And us too.
Sanden: Oh. So you're Yae Sakura. Lady Yae's twin. And the two of you are her familiars.
Higokumaru: Oh you better believe it.
Tamamo: Mikon~
Sanden: Ah— excuse me one second. Hey, everyone! Listen up! Don't close up yet! Miss Kamisato has come to join the festival!
Kamisato Ayaka: N—No, it's not like that! Please, there's no need to make a fuss, we're just here to—
Aether: Thank you!
Sakura: We appreciate it.
Higokumaru: That means Ayaka can enjoy the festival a little longer.
Tamamo: We are grateful. Mikon~
Paimon: Yeah, thanks a lot mister! If you hadn't let them know, they'd start closing down about now, right? At least, it sure looks like that time of day.
Sanden: Haha, yep, you got it! But on account of this being the first time Miss Kamisato has ever come to the festival, it seems only fair to keep things open a little bit longer! Oh — here's a couple of masks for you. On the house.
Kamisato Ayaka: No no no no no, you've been far too accommodating to us already, we couldn't possibly—
Sanden: Ah, don't gimme all that! Here you go! It's not often that we regular folks get some attention from the Yashiro Commission, so I've gotta mark the occasion somehow! Besides, it'll make me look bad if you refuse, haha.
Kamisato Ayaka: But...
Sakura: Ayaka, you better accept his generosity.
Tamamo: He doesn't want to look bad.
Higokumaru: Please.
Kamisato Ayaka: ...Okay, I... think I understand.
Aether: Thank you for your generosity, sir.
Sanden: Hahaha, it's my pleasure! You have yourself a good time.
Paimon: Sir, do you have anything for Paimon?
Sanden: Ooh, hello there kiddo, um... I'm sorry, but we don't have any masks in your size.
Paimon: Huh!? ...Surely you're not gonna let Paimon be the only one at the festival without a mask?
Kamisato Ayaka: *chuckle* Paimon, don't worry, wearing a mask is optional...
Higokumaru: Look at me, I don't need a mask.
Paimon: But, but... Paimon doesn't wanna feel left out!
Sanden: How about... a tree leaf? That should be enough to cover up that little face of yours.
Higokumaru: Would that make you feel better?
Paimon: What!? No way!
Sanden: Ooh, okay then... Hmm, in that case, I'm afraid there's nothing I can do right now... But don't you worry, kiddo, I'll have a mini mask made specially for you when I get back.
Higokumaru: And don't forget me too.
Sanden: And you as well.
Kamisato Ayaka: I cannot thank you enough.
Sanden: Ah, it's nothing! But I won't hold you up any longer — you should go and enjoy the festival while everything's still lit up.
Kamisato Ayaka: Alright! Traveler, Sakura, shall we?
Sakura: Yes.
Kamisato Ayaka: Oh, wait ! Um... Just one thing... I need to explain myself. I got a little nervous back there and... I—I just made up any old excuse. But don't think of this as me taking you sight-seeing, please! I brought you here because... because I genuinely wanted to spend time with you.
Aether: Don't worry, Ayaka, no misunderstanding here.
Sakura: We are friends, Ayaka.
Kamisato Ayaka: ...Okay, great!
Sanden: Have fun!
So they put their masks on.
(fortune slip stall)
Kamisato Ayaka: Traveler, Sakura, look, this stall's doing fortune slips.
Shimizu: Miss Kamisato, hello there! You're out with friends today? What a rare privilege — welcome, welcome! Would you like to give it a go?
Kamisato Ayaka: Okay! How much is it per draw?
Shimizu: Hehehe, I wouldn't expect you to know this, but the Yashiro Commission was very good to my uncle on my father's side at one point in time. Thinking about it, it was when your father was around, I think he dealt with it personally. So you see? How could I possibly take your money?
Kamisato Ayaka: What? A—Are you sure?
Shimizu: Of course! If you like what you see, then please, be my guest. Same goes for your five friends here.
Kamisato Ayaka: Traveler, Paimon, Sakura, Tamamo, Higokumaru... What do you think?
Sakura: I think we should.
Paimon: It seems like everyone wants to do something nice for Ayaka! So if they insist... who are we to resist!
Aether: If they're offering, who are we to refuse?
Kamisato Ayaka: Well, if that's how you feel, then... okay! We'll take you up on your kind offer, sir! Let's each do a draw.
Shimizu: Alrighty then! Whenever you're ready. Draw a slip and reveal your fortune!
So they each draw a fortune slip.
Shimizu: Open it up and see how you fare!
So they each open their fortunes
Kamisato Ayaka: Whoa!
Paimon: Which one did you get? Paimon got "Rising Fortune."
Higokumaru: I did too.
Kamisato Ayaka: No way, we got the same one!
Kamisato Ayaka: Traveler, what did you get?
Aether: Mine says "Great Fortune From Heaven."
Kamisato Ayaka: Wow... You're so lucky!
Shimizu: Congratulations are in order! Here's what Great Fortune From Heaven means: "The blessings of the gods are upon you. Your voyage ahead shall be plain sailing, and all your endeavors shall prosper." In other words, your good luck isn't about to run out anytime soon!
Tamamo: What about my fortune? "Great Fortune From the World."
Kamisato Ayaka: You got a "Great Fortune" too!
Tamamo: I did!?
Shimizu: Congratulations are in order! Here's what Great Fortune From the World means: "Wealth shall come to you. You shall reap a bountiful harvest and all shall transpire in line with your wishes." In other words, your good luck isn't about to run out anytime soon!
Sakura: And mine?
Kamisato Ayaka: The same as the rest of us! A "Great Fortune" like us!
Sakura: We have the same ones!
Shimizu: Congratulations are in order! Here's what Great Fortune Among People means: "As the Golden Koi Fish shines amidst the turquoise waves, your name shall be illustrious and the wealthy and powerful will surge to your aid." In other words, your good luck isn't about to run out anytime soon!
Paimon: What great signs. Good things lie ahead!
Kamisato Ayaka: Congratulations.
Shimizu: You all have very fine fortunes lined up. With this kind of luck, you'll certainly be able to achieve anything that you wish.
Paimon: Well said! Here's hoping that our good luck will never run out.
Shimizu: May your futures be filled with good fortune!
(Food stall)
Kamisato Ayaka: This food stall sells all kinds of Inazuman specialties. Anything you want to eat, it's my treat!
Paimon: Wow, it all looks so good... Is it okay if Paimon has one of everything? *chuckle*
Higokumaru: And me!
Kamisato Ayaka: Hahaha, of course it is.
Sakura: Anything you want.
Paimon: Hmm, but we don't want anything to go to waste. Let's try them one at a time.
Paimon: Ayaka, Paimon wants those Dango!
Kamisato Ayaka: Sure!
Aether: I'll have one of those pink pancake things.
Sakura: Those are mochi. Sakura mochi. I'll take one too.
Tamamo: I'll have a Sakura Mochi, a Dango, and an Egg Roll.
Paimon: Uh-huh, those look good too! Ooooh, but so do the Egg Rolls... Paimon will try an Egg Roll too, please!
Kamisato Ayaka: Alright then. I too shall have a Sakura Mochi.
Murakami: Alright, coming right up!
They try some fresh snacks...
A flower background appears behind them.
Kamisato Ayaka: Mmm! This Sakura Mochi is just delicious!
Sakura: Just like the Sakura Mochi back home!
Tamamo: And back in my time! Mikon~
Murakami: Not bad, huh? It's one of our best-sellers.
Paimon: Please, sir, Paimon would like some more!
Kamisato Ayaka: I don't know if it's rude of me to ask, but how is this kind of snack actually made?
Murakami: Haha, you wanna try your hand at making it yourself? No problem, just give me a second and I'll write out the recipe for you.
Paimon: A new recipe!
Kamisato Ayaka: A—Are you sure about this? If you share the recipe... isn't that tantamount to giving away your secrets... or something?
Murakami: Well, it was you who gave Kiminami Restaurant that recipe for an overseas dish, wasn't it?
Sakura: It was. But...
Murakami: Hehe, she and I are good friends. We trade culinary tips all the time. Here you go, just treat it as me returning a favor on behalf of my friend.
Kamisato Ayaka: ...Thank you so much, I will study it very carefully and try my best to do it justice.
Murakami: You there, you want the recipe too? Go on, I can see that you enjoyed it.
Aether: Thanks, boss!
Murakami: There's no greater feeling than creating delicious food with your own two hands. You should definitely give it a try.
Kamisato Ayaka: I will! Once I've learned how to make it... will you five be my taste testers?
Paimon: Ooh, definitely! Can't wait!
Aether: Looking forward to it already.
Sakura: I can show you how to make other kinds of Mochi.
Kamisato Ayaka: Alright... I'll do my best!
Murakami: Good food is good for the soul, and sharing it around is the wholesome thing to do!
They now walk together.
Paimon: Well, we may have arrived near the end of the festival, but it's still been super fun. Paimon approves!
Kamisato Ayaka: Yes, I agree. To spend the festival together with you today has been a truly wonderful experience.
(Prayer Rack)
Kamisato Ayaka: This stall sells Prayer Plaques. It's an Inazuman tradition — you draw your wish onto a pentagonal piece of wood called a Prayer Plaque and pray that it will come true.
Tamamo: Thats just like back home where we're from.
Sakura: Our home does the same thing.
Paimon: Sounds similar to the way people in Liyue release lanterns during lantern Rite. Those are used for making wishes, too.
Yoshikawa: Oh, welcome! Looking for Prayer Plaques? Every wish is sacred, and you've still got time to make yours before the festival ends!
Paimon: Looks fun! Shall we give it a try?
Higokumaru: We should.
Tamamo: Yes, we should.
Paimon: ...Wait, there's writing and drawing involved? Count Paimon out, then... Paimon's head's feeling kinda fuzzy after eating so much just now... not the best time for an intense burst of mental activity...
Higokumaru: Suit yourself then.
Kamisato Ayaka: Four Prayer Plaques please, sir.
Yoshikawa: Four Prayer Plaques for the young lady. There you go!
Kamisato Ayaka: Traveler, have you decided on your wish?
Aether: Yep! How about you?
Kamisato Ayaka: Yes.
Foxes: Us too!
Yoshikawa: You can either draw a picture to represent your wish or write it out in words. Either way, once you've committed your wish onto your plaque, please hang it onto the Prayer Rack.
Paimon: Wait, so they'll be on public display!? Alright, Aether, well, let's see what you got!
You hang your completed Prayer Plaque on the wall..
Kamisato Ayaka: That will do for mine. May I see yours?
Aether: You got it!
Kamisato Ayaka: This is you and your sister, isn't it? It's lovely.
Aether: Yes. I want her back.
Paimon: You'll be back together one day. Paimon believes it, and you should too!
Kamisato Ayaka: I believe it too. Your wish will surely come true. And... I will keep you in my prayers. What about you, Sakura?
Sakura: The same thing. For Aether to find his sister.
Higokumaru: My wish is more food!
Kamisato Ayaka: What about you, Tamamo?
Tamamo: To became a great wife and a wise mother.
Kamisato Ayaka: Wh a wish like that?
Tamamo: Because before I became a servant, people thought I poisoned an empower because of my fox ears and tail. That's what people thought people with animal animal ears were. Bad people and demons
Paimon: Ayaka, what did you draw? Is that Tenshukaku?
Kamisato Ayaka: That's right. I wish for peace and happiness for everyone in Inazuma, and good health for my family and friends. *sigh* I do hope that wish can come true.
Aether: It will.
Sakura: We know it will.
Kamisato Ayaka: Thank you, that gives me hope. *sigh* I think that might be all we have time for today.
Paimon: Aw... It's time to leave already?
Kamisato Ayaka: I'm afraid so. The festival is coming to a close. Time flies when you're having fun... It seems to flow away from you like a rushing river... As precious and short-lived as a cherry blossom dancing in the wind... ...
Kamisato Ayaka: It's time to leave.
Sakura: Let's go.
They return to Chinju Forest with Ayaka...
Kamisato Ayaka: Traveler, Sakura... Today was the first time in my life that I've ever been to a festival. You've known me for some time now... I think you understand my personality, don't you?
Sakura: Of course we do. Well, I've known you for far longer than he did. No offense.
Kamisato Ayaka: Knowing me... I just know that today could not have been such a happy day without you. So, thank you. Today really meant a lot to me, and the memories will always have a special place in my heart. Festivals are great! There aren't many rules, everyone has that smile that comes from deep inside, and... it's just so carefree and happy... If I ever get the chance... Hee-hee, I wanna go again.
Aether: I'd like to go again, too.
Sakura: We all do.
Kamisato Ayaka: You too? Great! You know, we're kind of similar, me with my brother, you with your sister. Sometimes, I feel like I can relate to the determination you must have.. to get your sister back.
Aether: Yes, she means an awful lot to me. Finding her is the whole reason for my journey.
Sakura: And we're helping him on his journey.
Kamisato Ayaka: ... I understand. Family bonds are inseparable — no one can break them... They are the most important roots we have in this world.
Sakura: Family is everything. I had a little sister but she was killed in a sacrifice. But our bond is never broken.
Kamisato Ayaka: You will find her. Come what may, you must never give up. I will always be here for you as your...Ahem! As your friend. I will always support you.
Aether: Thank you, Ayaka.
Sakura: Today made me very happy, too.
Tamamo: Thanks for being a splendid host today.
Kamisato Ayaka: ...! As long as you're happy, I'm happy.
They follow Ayaka as they walked.
Kamisato Ayaka: Oh, everyone. There's something that... I'd like to do. If you could spare me yet another moment.
Sakura: Certainly.
Then they run after her till she stopped. Ayaka chuckles and hops into a shallow pool.
Kamisato Ayaka: Please. Keep your eyes on me.
Tamamo: She's going to do it.
Paimon: Do what?
Higokumaru: Watch and find out.
Ayaka begins to sing and perform a dance with her hand fan. She dances around in the shallow water with her fan.
Sakura: She's doing her dance on water with her fan. She's showed it to us before.
Tamamo: And it left a good impression on us.
Higokumaru: And she's very beautiful doing it.
She finishes her dance with her Kamisato Art: Hyouka and an ending pose.
They walk together again.
Kamisato Ayaka: What do you think of my dance? Did you... like it?
Paimon: It was so pretty!
Tamamo: We loved it. Mikon~
Sakura: It was beautiful as always.
Higokumaru: You are really great doing it.
Paimon: Beautiful, elegant, and... and something else Paimon can't put into words. *thinking* Paimon doesn't really know what it was, but, it is art.
Aether: It was delightful.
Kamisato Ayaka: Phew... I'm not very good at this kind of dance. So as long as I didn't embarrass myself, that's all that matters.
Then they stop.
Kamisato Ayaka: I just... had a sudden urge, and I ran with it... Hahaha... In a way, that sort of sums up today for me. Dancing like nobody's watching.
Aether: There's nothing wrong with that.
Kamisato Ayaka: ... That goes for you too. When I'm with you... time seems to slow down and speed up at the same time. Anyway, it looks like this is goodbye for today. I can see myself the rest of the way back.
Aether: Goodnight, Ayaka.
Sakura: See you next time.
Kamisato Ayaka: Goodnight, Traveler. Sakura.
And then she leaves the group.
Aether: ... ♪
Aether hums the tune that Ayaka was singing during her dance. Then he and Paimon separate from the foxes.
Later the foxes sit down on a ledge looking up at the full moon.
Sakura: Once again I feel like I'm back home in ancient times back in Japan in Yae Village.
Tamamo: Me too. I feel like I'm back home in ancient times back in Japan. Mikon~
Higokumaru: Inazuma being like Japan. MiHoYo did a great job.
Sakura: If Tanjiro was making a wish with a plaque, he would wish to turn his sister, Nezuko back into a human.
Tamamo: Genshin Impact is getting more similarities to "Demon Slayer" than "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild". With some two of the characters in "Genshin Impact" having similarities from "Demon Slayer" like Aether being similar to Tanjiro and Kazuha being similar to Rengoku.
Higokumaru: And some of the characters being similar to the characters from our game, "Honkai Impact 3rd".
Sakura: I believe now I have my own song to sing.
Sakura begins to sing her theme song.
[There should be a GIF or video here. Update the app now to see it.]
Her singing was heard through out the whole forest. Aether and Paimon heard it. Even Ayaka heard it. Including the animals like the foxes. The forest shined brighter.
Higokumaru: Aneki's singing is beautiful as ever.
Tamamo: Reminds me of after I was run out by the Imperial Court and when I got away, the foxes comforted me.
Tamamo's ears twitched then she turned and saw foxes walking up to the fox girls.
Tamamo: Seems like master has attracted a lot of attention.
Sakura finished singing then turned around to see all the foxes.
Sakura: What are all these foxes doing here?
Tamamo: It seems like they were attracted to your singing and understood your feelings like how foxes understood my feelings.
The 3 fox girls turned around and kneeled to face the foxes.
Sakura: Thank you for listening to my singing little foxes. I am grateful.
Tamamo: Master is a great singer and is very kind. Mikon~
Some of the foxes went up to the three fox girls then they received pats on the head.
(Later)
The 3 fox girls were back in Sakura's shrine in her samsara. Sakura was in her futon sleeping while Higokumaru was sleeping in her own futon and Tamamo No Mae was sleeping in a separate room in a futon.
Then the camera looks up at the full moon as the scene faded to black.
