Chapter 43: The Windblume Festival
(Inn)
The Valkyries and I were waking up from our sleep. After getting dressed we exited out of the Inn and suddenly saw Mondstadt in decorations and people going around looking all happy.
Kiana: Uh... What's going on?
Patrick: I don't know.
We went into our separate groups for the day. We had to ask what was going on.
We decided to go to Katheryne. Aether and Paimon were already there.
Patrick: Katheryne, what's going on?
Katheryne: Today is the Windblume Festival.
Kiana: Windblume Festival?
Katheryne: You haven't heard?
Mei: Can't say that we have.
Paimon: Even we don't know.
Katheryne: You should go ask someone else about it.
Seele: Ok.
Katheryne: One more thing. There's been rumors about this super strong woman coming to Mondstadt.
Patrick: Super strong woman?
Katheryne: Yes. This woman was strong enough to take down a Hypostasis all by herself.
Aether: All by herself?
Katheryne: She was also strong enough to take down a Regisvine all by herself. She even took down a Primo Geovishap all by herself and destroy 25 Ruin Guards and 25 Ruin Hunters.
Paimon: WHAT?! HOW CAN SOMEONE FIGHT SUPER STRONG ENEMIES ALL BY THEMSELVES?!
Katheryne: I don't know.
Kiana: Does she travel with anyone?
Katheryne: Oh yes she does. With a maid.
Finally it struck us.
Patrick and Valkyries: Durandal and Rita!
Paimon: Durandal and Rita?
Aether: Durandal and Rita?
Katheryne: Durandal and Rita?
Mei: Two more of our missing friends.
Fu Hua: Rita is a maid like Noelle and Durandal is super strong but her real name is Bianca but she goes by Durandal more often.
Paimon: Let's go ask someone else for help.
We decided to go to Flora.
Paimon: Flora, do you have anything you need help with?
Flora: Hee-hee — nope.
Paimon: Is that b—because of the Windblume Festival...? Huh... what is that, exactly?
Kiana: Thats what we all want to know.
Flora: *gasp* You haven't heard of the Windblume Festival?
Patrick: Thats right.
Paimon: Windblume... Soooo — some kinda... windy, flower-planting kinda thing...?
Flora: The Windblume Festival is a Mondstadt tradition — a festival of love and freedom. It's a time of celebration and partying in the city.
Flora: At this time of the year, we offer Windblumes to the great Anemo Archon, Barbatos, as a sign of reverence and love. We also give flowers to our beloved... a very important tradition.
Kiana: Windblumes?
Flora: My shop is bursting with customers every Windblume... I guess it's a nice problem to have! Haha.
Aether: What are Windblumes?
Flora: The Windblume is the symbol of this festival, a flower that represents freedom and the spirit of the wind...
Paimon: Sooo what does a Windblume look like?
Flora: Haha... that's a long story... My grandma said that even she hadn't been born when the Windblume first appeared. It must have been hundreds of years ago. I don't know why, exactly, but everyone seems to choose dandelions when they wanna give a gift of "Windblumes."
Paimon: So in other words, for the people of Mondstadt, Windblume means dandelion?
Flora: Hehe... something like that anyway. At least, that's what we believe in my family.
Quinn: Incorrect!
Someone shouted and came up.
Quinn: Ahem... I heard everything you were saying and couldn't help but... You were talking about Windblumes, yes?
Paimon: It's Quinn from the food stall! Wanna join us?
Quinn: No, no — I'm just here to set the record straight. Windblume doesn't mean the dandelion, but the Windwheel Aster.
Flora: Greetings to you too, Quinn!
Quinn: Uh... Flora, surely there must have been plenty of customers buying Windwheel Asters from your shop recently?
Flora: Hee-hee, uh-huh!
Quinn: Haha, you see! We loyal Windwheel Aster advocates are upholding our economic duty! The Windwheel Aster is both a symbol of Mondstadt and an embodiment of the windmill, representing both wind and freedom. That's what makes it the one, true Windblume! Who's with me!? Windwheel Aster! The true Windblume!
Flora: Ehh...
Beatrice: Oh? Are you sure about that?
Flora: Bea, you're here too!
Beatrice: Hehe, the Windblume... Isn't that the Cecilia?
Hearing the flower name made Kiana perk up.
Paimon: Huh? Really?
Paimon noticed Kiana's expression.
Paimon: Is something wrong?
Kiana: It's just that... my mother was named after the Cecilia.
Beatrice: Really? Your mother's name is Cecilia?
Kiana: Yes. My mother's name is Cecilia Schariac.
Flora: Oh? So a Windblume is a Cecilia...? That's the first I've heard of—
Quinn: Wh— ...Don't be ridiculous!
Patrick: Now this is getting confusing.
Quinn: Listen. Yes, there may be some controversy over the definition of Windblume... but it is the widely held belief among the people of Mondstadt, that the Windblume is the Windwheel Aster! Not the dandelion! There's history to both flowers, you'd know if you asked around! And as for the Cecilia? Give me a break...
Beatrice: What!?
Quinn: Just dropping facts over here, no need to look at me like that...
Beatrice: You...! Hmph — whatever, I'm not talking to you.
Beatrice walked away.
Quinn: Huh? Bea? Bea! Weird, what's up with her... Did I say something wrong?
Fu Hua: Yes you did. You started an argument with her.
Quinn: Eh... Windblume is as Windblume does, what can I say...
Paimon: Um... what?
Aether: I'm new here, your local customs are a bit confusing for me.
Seele: So are we.
Flora: Haha, stop arguing already!
Quinn: Maybe I should... go apologize to her after closing... hmm... ...I don't understand why she's upset, but what I do know is that I will have to apologize regardless. *sigh* That's life, I guess.
Flora: Aww... Seeing them together like that really give me that Windblume feeling. Freedom, the Anemo Archon, sweethearts...
Paimon: Yeah, yeah, that sounds great and all... But none of you can even agree over what a Windblume is...
Flora: You're right, but isn't that typical of us Mondstadt folk? *sigh* Well, between delicious food, exquisite drink, and fresh flowers... Traveler, I hope you get to enjoy yourself during the festival, too.
Paimon: It sounds like such a happy festival! Even if the whole Windblume thing is still a total mystery...
Paimon: Let's look around and see what this is all about!
Kiana: Yeah let's do that!
So they decided to go up to the plaza.
At the Mondstadt gate, two women walked through. One of them was in a blue dress with white armor over it and had long blonde hair. The other had a maid dress with armor over it and had grey hair
Blonde haired woman: So this is Mondstadt.
Grey haired woman: It's a sight to behold.
Blonde haired woman: starting at level one and now I've leveled up really fast. I have my normal strength back and am super strong once again.
Grey haired woman: Thats because you've trained every day.
Blonde haired woman: We should find them now.
Grey haired woman: Let's ask someone.
They were passing by good Hunter when they saw Noelle.
Grey haired woman: Ah, let's go ask her.
The two women went up to Noelle to ask her. She noticed them.
Noelle: Oh, hello there. Can I help you... *gasps*. You... You... You're that super strong woman!
Blonde haired woman: You may call me Durandal. But my real name is Bianca but I'm called Durandal more.
Grey haired woman: And you can call me Rita. I'm a maid just like you. Do you know where we can find the Honorary Knights of Favonius?
Noelle: Oh, I saw them pass by me and I believe that they were going to the statue of Barbatos.
Durandal: Thank you.
Rita: We'll go there right now.
The blonde haired woman and the grey haired woman walked up the stairs reaching the statue and saw us.
Paimon: Hey, it's the Tone-Deaf Bard!
Bennett: When's it gonna be my turn... Gah! I'm getting nervous just thinking about writing a love poem...
Seele: Bennett, what's going on?
Bennet: Ask the bard yourself.
So we got closer to Venti then saw Theresa and Himeko with him.
Paimon: Tone-Deaf Bard, what are you up to? What's with all the people?
Venti: Aha! You're right on time. Take a look at my students. What do you think? Not bad, eh?
Paimon: Students? Uh...
Kiana: You mean...
Paimon: You mean the people anxiously scratching their heads?
Venti: Anxiously? Why, these people are deep in concentration, diligently searching for heartfelt rhetoric to convey their romantic affections.
Paimon: Uh-huh... Seems a bit suspicious to Paimon...
Theresa: Venti needed me and Himeko to help him with being a teacher to teach these people how to write love poems since I'm a principle.
Himeko: And since I'm a teacher.
Venti: Hehe, so, I guess you've already found out about the Windblume Festival, then?
Patrick: Yes we have.
Seele: On short notice.
Venti: How are you finding Mondstadt in such a festive mood? Do you like it?
Mei: It's great, I guess.
Kiana: It's great!
Seele: So many decorations.
Patrick: Its beautiful.
Aether: It's certainly buzzing with excitement and happiness.
Venti: Paimon, what about you?
Paimon: ...Paimon could be persuaded with some delicious food-related bribery!
Kiana: So can I! I can be persuaded with some delicious food-related bribery!
Venti: Ah, I think you'll come around then. Speaking of which, I'll bet you don't have a lot on your plate right now.
Patrick: Not really.
Venti: Loafing around all day, no commissions to take or people to help... Hahaha... If you've noticed that, then congratulations — you've taken your first step toward understanding the Windblume Festival!
Paimon: Oh yeah? Hey — why do you sound so pleased with yourself!?
Venti: The Windblume Festival doesn't just belong to the Anemo Archon, but to all Mondstadt citizens looking for love. Anyone who wants to find love must do everything for themselves over the festive period. In addition, many people take this period as an opportunity to resolve matters of the heart. It's not surprising that you haven't been able to find any commissions, that's just the Windblume Festival tradition.
Mei: There are other things we do besides commissions.
Venti: But don't you worry, you won't feel lonely while I'm around.
Kiana: What do you mean?
Venti: On that note, I think it's about time you got a deeper understanding of Mondstadt's culture and customs. I need a couple of assistants. What do you say?
Paimon: Assistants? What kind of assistants?
Venti: Ahahaha... See these anxious-looking folks here?
Patrick: Yes.
Venti: They're looking to learn the secrets of love, so they came to me to learn how to compose love poems. I accepted, of course, because I was only too happy to charge a tuition fee. Soon, they'll come to me in turn and pour their hearts out, telling me about their romantic trials and tribulations. Then, I'll give them suggestions based on their individual circumstances. At least, that's what I was going to do... But having seen you suffering with nothing to do... I think I'll let you handle it instead.
Theresa: With help from Himeko and I.
Venti: You've traveled far and wide and seen so much, it would be a waste not to put those experiences to good use. They could use your help!
Paimon: Ugh, save us the nonsense... You just want to speed up your sales. That desperate for Mora, huh?
Venti: There are limited-edition wines for sale during the Windblume Festival... I need every last Mora to make sure I get my fill.
Paimon: Uh-huh... Spoken like a true drunkard...
Venti: Alright then, let's get started. I'll be joining you, of course. I'll give you a few prompts, and you can make suggestions based on them. Hehe, not as taxing as you thought, right?
Paimon: You really love the sound of your own voice, don't you!
Venti: Come on now, you're Mondstadt's Honorary Knights, the people trust you! It's only natural for you to have this opportunity to showcase yourselves.
Kiana: I guess it could be an opportunity to showcase ourselves.
Venti: Now listen up, if you see us make this gesture... it means we think they should forge ahead and seize the opportunity. But if you see us make this gesture... it means we think they should play it safe and avoid being hasty. And if we make this gesture... it means we think they should give up while they're ahead and avoid an emotional over-investment. You got that, Travelers?
Aether: Got it.
Mei: We can do it.
Venti: That's decided then!
Theresa: Now go out there...!
Himeko: ...And be great assistants!
So we went out and took a look at the people's love poems and criticized their works. We came back to Venti, Theresa, and Himeko.
Paimon: Tone-Deaf Bard! Theresa! Himeko! We dished out some advice, just like you said! How did we do?
Venti: You did a great job, hehe! Thank you!
Himeko: Felt good to teach again.
Theresa: And to be a principle again.
Kiana: Any time, Venti.
Mei: We memorized your gestures right.
Venti: So, who else needs some help around here...
???: Hmm, what are you three up to? Mind if I get in on the action?
Kaeya appeared.
Venti: Kaeya! Are you also here for romantic guidance?
Kaeya: Haha, it's the greatest bard in town. And now, the greatest romantic advisor in town, no doubt. Still, don't you have other business to attend to?
Venti: Oh! You mean, teaching people how to compose love poems?
Kaeya: Exactly that. I heard you were teaching classes in the plaza, so I came right away.
Paimon: Uh, Kaeya? you wanna learn how to compose love poems, too?
Aether: I thought Kaeya wouldn't need any help in that department.
Kaeya: I'm not too shabby. Nevertheless, I'd like to register for the fast-track classes.
Venti: How come? You're a smooth talker, do you really need my guidance?
Kaeya: The real question is, are you willing to take me on as a student?
Venti: Of course! When the Mora comes knocking, who am I to keep the door closed?
Theresa: As a principle, I approve.
Himeko: And me too. You're in.
Kaeya: Haha... Well then, I guess I'm enrolled.
Kaeya: And as your student, may I make some reasonable demands?
Paimon: Aha, Paimon knew there was more to it!
Venti: Demands? *sigh* Let's hear them.
Kaeya: As students, aside from attending class, we also need homework exercises. Surely a well-designed course would require us to put our knowledge into practice, and then... have our teacher correct the poems we compose.
Paimon: You mean, Venti has to correct the students' homework?
Kaeya: Precisely. All in exchange for payment, naturally. These are my demands.
Himeko: Sure thing. I haven't corrected homework in such a long time.
Venti: Or to put it another way, I'm actually gonna have to work for a living!
Kaeya: Hahaha, is that so bad? I just think that with things like this, you should see them all the way through.
Kaeya: More fun for everyone involved, don't you think? What do you say?
Venti: I feel like Kaeya's knack for mischief is at play here...
Himeko: Don't worry Venti, you'll have help from Theresa and me.
Theresa: Thats right, two extra pairs of hands will speed things and give you less time.
Venti: Still, correcting homework... this is indeed a vital step. And I am curious to see the fruit of my students' labor... Hm. Congratulations, Kaeya, your demands have been accepted!
Kaeya: As I expected, a reasonable and down-to-earth teacher.
Venti: Hold your horses, I have a demand for you, too!
Paimon: Cool... a coercion contest....
Aether: A showdown between the pros.
Venti: I will pay special attention to your homework and guarantee that you will see improvement in your studies! But as for your tuition fee... some Windblume Festival-exclusive Applebloom Cider should do the trick.
Himeko: Applebloom Cider it is.
Venti: Hehe, what with you and Master Diluc being on such good terms and all, that shouldn't be a problem, should it?
Kaeya: Haha — steady now, let's not overestimate my abilities. Still, one bottle of the good stuff in exchange for your guidance... Not an opportunity to pass up.
Venti: Whoa, "one" bottle? Make that three!
Paimon: Geez! Give him an inch and he'll take a mile!
Venti: Please? Please, please?
Kaeya: Deal.
Venti: Marvelous! Grab some paper and make your way over, Professor Venti's poetry masterclass is now in session!
Paimon: What's that paper that Tone-Deaf Bard pulled out of his pocket...? And whose names are those?
Venti: Albert... Ellin... Marvin... Timaeus... Kaeya... Bennett.
Bennett: Oh, uh — present!
Paimon: Wow, Bennett's really fired up for this...
Seele: He sure is.
Venti: So you're Bennett? Excellent, I like your enthusiasm. Make sure to channel that
vigor into your poetry.
Bennett: Yes, Sir!
Kaeya: Even adventurers want to learn how to write poetry... I see this is going to be a popular class.
Paimon: Tone-Deaf Bard's gonna make a fortune...
Kiana: So will Auntie Theresa and Auntie Himeko...
Venti: My dear students... In a moment, we will gather by the terrace in front of the Cathedral, where I will divulge to you my experiences and techniques in the art of poetic composition. After class, I would like every one of you to compose a love poem and hand it to me for... uh... constructive criticism. As for your tuition fees, by all means, wait until the course is over before paying. But don't even think about vanishing... ...In addition to Mora, payment in alcohol is also warmly welcomed!
Kaeya: A quick question, Sir... Does our special arrangement still stand?
Venti: But of course! And when the time comes, you can hand in your homework first. Travelers, I'd like you and I to collect the homework submissions together.
Paimon: Uhh... Does that fall under the assistant's duties? Do we get paid for this?
Venti: Think of it as an initiation into Mondstadt's traditional culture — an opportunity to immerse yourself in the Windblume Festival! I'm going to great lengths here to make sure you're a part of the festivities. Not to mention, it would entitle you to a share of the remuneration...
Paimon: Ooh! Sir, yes Sir!
Seele: We'll do it!
Venti: Good! In that case, when Kaeya's finished with his homework, let's go look for him at the Knights of Favonius Headquarters. But for now, I've got classes to teach! Travelers, why not make the most of it and check things out in the meantime?
Kiana: I guess we will.
Venti: The vendors in Mondstadt have arranged all sort of festive activities. Don't forget to try them out!
And then Venti, Theresa, Himeko, and their students left us.
Kiana: So what should we do now?
Paimon: We check out the vendors in Mondstadt like Tone-Deaf-Bard said himself.
Patrick: Maybe we should do that.
???: Or perhaps you'd like to catch up with us first?
A familiar voice made us freeze.
We looked and saw two familiar women. One with long blonde hair with a Dendro Vision and a short grey hair with a Cryo Vision.
Patrick and Valkyries: DURANDAL AND RITA?!
Rita: Yes. It is us.
Durandal: Like time no see.
Paimon: Huh?!
Paimon floated up to them.
Paimon: So you're the super strong woman Durandal? And your the maid Rita?
Durandal: I am super strong. Since getting sent to this world I've been training hard every day tirelessly.
Rita: And you must be little Ms. Paimon.
Paimon: Ms. Paimon?
Kiana: She's always so formal.
Rita: And you must be Master Aether
Aether: Uh, just Aether is fine.
Paimon: And just Paimon is fine.
Rita: Very well.
Seele: Anyways, we're going to go check out the vendors around Mondstadt.
Durandal: See you around.
We left Durandal and Rita to go check out the vendors.
(Later)
Days went by as we were enjoying the Windblume Festival, some of us decided to go to the Knights of Favonius Headquarters to check on Kaeya. Seele, Aether, Paimon, Durandal, and Rita decided to do that.
Paimon: Venti, Theresa, and Himeko might be here already, let's take a look inside!
Athos: Halt! Citizens, what noble errand brings you?
Paimon: Is Kaeya here? We need him for something.
Athos: Captain Kaeya? He's on duty in Jean's office.
Paimon: Eh? Why is he in Jean's office?
Seele: Isn't that where Jean is all the time?
Athos: The Windblume Festival celebrations have always been hosted by the Knights of Favonius. During the festivities, Master Jean personally goes out on patrol.
Athos: Captain Kaeya takes over her administrative duties during that period.
Paimon: Huh, is that right...
Seele: If you excuse us, we'll be to seeing him now.
Seele opened the doors and the group went inside.
Durandal: The Knights of Favonius Headquarters.
Rita: We're finally seeing it inside.
Seele: On the right is Lisa's Library and on the left is Jean's office and Klee's confinement room. So we'll be going into Jean's office.
Seele opened the door.
Paimon: Hiya!
Venti: Travelers, Paimon, you're here!
Kaeya: I was just thinking about you two, and now here you are. How fortuitous!
Theresa: Glad you can make it.
Himeko: Right on time.
Seele: Venti, Kaeya, Theresa, Himeko. Two more members of our party found us.
Theresa: Who?
Seele: Durandal and Rita.
Theresa and Himeko: Durandal and Rita?!
Seele: Yes. Right this way please.
Seele stepped out of the way and let Rita and Durandal enter.
Venti: So your the super strong woman and maid everyone has been talking about. Durandal and Rita.
Durandal: You know our names?
Venti: Yes I do. They told me all about you both. What you look like, your names, and how you fight.
Kaeya: They told me all about you both also.
Seele: Anyways, as to why we're here.
Paimon: Kaeya, did you do your homework?
Kaeya: I'm afraid I must disappoint you... I haven't even started writing it yet.
Seele: You didn't?! Why?!
Venti: Hmm, students that don't hand in their homework on time aren't exactly model students now, are they?
Theresa: They're not.
Paimon: And what excuse does Kaeya have for not handing in his homework?
Kaeya: Well, as you can see, I'm helping Master Jean take care of various matters.
Himeko: If he had any other excuse, we would of punished him.
Kaeya: Mondstadt is a hive of activity over the festive period. Accordingly, there's a multitude of things that need sorting. *sigh* I've been at it for a good while now.
Theresa: And we've had to help with the matters so he can get started sooner.
Kaeya: Travelers... can I ask for a favor?
Seele: What is it?
Kaeya: I have a drinking buddy that wants me to help him with something, but I'm much too busy. Can I entrust this matter to you?
Seele: I guess we can.
Venti: A drinking buddy? A friend you met at the tavern?
Kaeya: That's right. I often go to the tavern when not on duty. Somehow, I seem to have made quite a few acquaintances that way. His name is Nimrod, he's never far from the tavern. He should be free right now.
Seele: We'll do it.
Kaeya: Thanks for the help. I'd better stay behind and get started on my homework.
Seele: Good luck, Kaeya.
Aether: I'll consider it part of my Windblume experience.
Kaeya: Feel free to take your time... I need to channel my inner poet.
Seele turned to Durandal and Rita.
Seele: If you want you can come.
Rita: We'd be delighted.
Durandal: We'll go.
(Angel's Share)
They along with Venti found Nimrod outside of Angel's Share at a table.
Nimrod: *sigh* What should I do...
Paimon: You must be Nimrod! Kaeya mentioned there was something you wanted him to take care of. He's busy right now, but we can help.
Nimrod: ...Huh? Oh, Travelers... I didn't realize it was you... *gasps* And the super strong woman and maid!
Seele: We know. Get to the point.
Nimrod: ...It's like this: I'm planning to give a gift to my wife for the Windblume Festival, and I wanted my drinking buddy, Kaeya, to come up with a gift idea. ...I—I'm afraid I'm a bit of a drunkard, I'm nearly always in the tavern. My wife hates me drinking, so we're constantly arguing.
Paimon: Another day, another drunkard...
Durandal: Husbands and Wives always argue about drinking alcohol.
Venti: I can empathize, I don't mind a drink or two myself! Then again, and I'm not one to judge, but by the looks of your drinking habits... hmm...
Nimrod: I know... She's right, of course. I feel like I have to make it up to her. ...Travelers, can you help me gather some materials? I want to make a gift for her myself. ...I should have made preparations in advance, but I've barely been sober these last few days. I fell asleep, and when I woke up the celebrations had already begun! Now I'll never have time to finish it by myself...
Paimon: Yeesh, this guy is a mess...
Venti: ...Single folks in Mondstadt would never dare get others to help them during the festive period. It's lucky you're already married, Nimrod.
Nimrod: Uh-huh... you're telling me... *sigh* I'm sorry... Here I am making a fool of myself in front of all of you.
Paimon: *sigh* What's done is done. Spit it out then, how can we help?
Nimrod: I'm going to look for wood in the city, and we'll need plants to place inside. Those only grow in the wild, could I ask you to retrieve them? I need two stems of Small Lamp Grass.
Paimon: Small Lamp Grass and wood... what are you making exactly?
Nimrod: I want to make her a little wooden house, with glowing flowers and handmade furniture inside...
Venti: Aww, such a thoughtful gift!
Nimrod: A token of my love, haha. ...Back when I'd only just gotten to know her, I used to make handmade gifts for her all the time... She love them, she even used to say that... Oh! Uh — ahem, excuse me. Let's put the past aside for the moment. Thank you all for your help.
Paimon: Lucky you came across such kind-hearted assistants, hmm Alright, let's go and find those materials!
(Later)
They came back with the materials.
Nimrod: ...Thank you, thank you so much! With these materials, I can get to work straight away.
Paimon: Remember, a gift can't solve everything! You need to start being fair to your wife, too!
Rita: And to spend more time with your wife rather than being a drunkard.
Durandal: Otherwise she will want a divorce with you.
Nimrod: I will, I will! *sigh* I do hope she likes my gift, though...
Venti: Everyone likes a gift given with love, don't worry.
Paimon: Make it a good one! Don't go wasting those materials, they weren't easy to find y'know!
Seele: Let's head back to Kaeya.
(Knights of Favonius Headquarters)
Paimon: We're back! Kaeya, have you finished?
Venti: Time to hand in your homework!
Theresa: Yeah, what he said.
Kaeya: Welcome back, I'm just finishing up.
Paimon: Go, go, go, hand it in, hand it in!
Kaeya: Alright, alright... Now then, no hurting my feelings.
Venti: Hmmm.. Mm? Ooooh...
Paimon: Tone-Deaf Bard, what grade did he get?
Venti: Kaeya, may I read this out loud?
Kaeya: Feel free.
Venti: *clears throat* "Mi muhe ye Means I love you In the language of the hilichurls."
Seele: Uhh...
Paimon: Eh? Ehh!?
Venti: That's it.
Paimon: That's it!?
Theresa: We thought he was going to write something long.
Himeko: But instead he write something short.
Kaeya: Coherent and too the point. Plus, the length seems about right.
Paimon: What!? Are you writing a Hilichurlian phrase book!?
Aether: Nice work, you learned a lot, I see.
Kaeya: Hahaha, a love poem has to convey the style of its author, you know?
Venti: I'm not sure you took the exercise seriously.
Paimon: Wait... so we're just gonna gloss over the fact that Kaeya can speak Hilichurlian? Weird.
Seele: Like that little girl, Ella Musk who is learning to speak Hilichurlian.
Kaeya: Haha, don't underestimate the hidden knowledge of the Knights of Favonius' Cavalry Captain!
Venti: Alright then, time to collect the next student's homework...
Kaeya: ...! I just caught sight of a suspicious figure, I must go and investigate. Travelers, I have another small task for you.
Kaeya: The Church has applied to us for a hunting license. Please take these official documents to the Cathedral.
Paimon: *sigh* Running errands again...!
Theresa: And Himeko and I will be coming along so we can grade the other love poems.
(Cathedral)
They went to the Cathedral.
Seele: Thats the Cathedral... And over there are the Grand Master Jean and resident librarian Lisa. It looks like they're in the middle of something. Let's go find out.
Jean: Lisa, we need to establish some ground rules... If we do end up apprehending any drunken troublemakers, no electrocutions. Okay?
Lisa: Oh Jean, you misunderstand me. That intoxicated fellow you witnessed last time was practically begging me to be shocked. It makes me wonder if some people don't actually quite enjoy getting—
Jean: Lisa!
Lisa: *sigh* Very well then, if you insist.
Paimon: Jean, Lisa!
Venti: Greetings, ladies! It's been a while.
Aether: What are you two doing here?
Seele: It looked like you were in the middle of something.
Jean: A while indeed. As you can see, Lisa and I are on duty.
Lisa: Aww, it's cutie and friends.
Seele: It's not just us. Two more of our missing friends have been found.
Jean: Who?
Seele: The super strong woman, Durandal and the maid, Rita.
Jean: The super strong woman?! In Mondstadt?! Where is she?
Seele: Here.
Seele, Aether, Paimon, and Venti moved out of the way to reveal Durandal and Rita.
Jean and Lisa gasped at seeing them.
Rita: Greetings madam. I am Rita at your service.
Durandal: I am Durandal. The strongest Valkyrie.
Jean: ...I am Jean, Acting Grand Master.
Lisa: Call me Lisa.
Durandal and Jean shook hands.
Lisa: Anyways. Did you see any suspicious people on the way here?
Seele: Suspicious people?
Lisa: If you do see anything, report straight to the Knights.
Paimon: Since when do librarians go out on patrol?
Lisa: Rarely, but this is the Windblume Festival, and they need all hands on deck. Even the humble clerical staff, like me.
Jean: Lisa, "humble clerical staff" do not wield Electro the way you do. *sigh* Please do not be alarmed, I will keep my eyes on Lisa. Especially since she seems to enjoy electrocuting people just to break up a scuffle. Not to mention shocking drunkards until they beg for mercy...
Lisa: If you don't like it, I can happily refrain.
Seele in mind: Like Big Brother Patrick would say, like how a certain electric mouse always uses electrocutions to shut people up.
Jean: Is that a promise? Good. Otherwise, I'm going to have to reconsider whether I want a librarian on patrol with me.
Paimon: Paimon never knew being on patrol could be so exciting!
Seele opened the Cathedral doors and lead Rita and Durandal inside.
Seele: This is inside the Cathedral. Theresa, Kallen, and Bronya do work in here with Barbara.
Durandal: It's quite different from the Overseer's church and the church at St. Freya.
Rita: Feels like being back in medieval times.
Bronya: Seele? Durandal? Rita?
Bronya appeared. She was wearing something different. She was wearing a white nun dress like Barbara and all the other sisters in the Cathedral. Only it showed no cleavage. Her Vision was at the same spot. She had a ribbon on her chest like Barbara did.
Seele: Oh. Big Sister Bronya. Durandal and Rita have been found.
Bronya: They've been found?
Seele: Yes. Come here and...
Bronya: Seele, this is no time for introductions. Barbara is crying and needs help.
Seele: Huh?!
Bronya dragged Seele down to Barbara and Bennett. Aether, Paimon, and Venti followed.
Paimon: Barbara, Kaeya sent us to deliver the—
Bennett: How dare they! This is sheer intimidation! How could somebody do this...
Paimon: Huh!?
Venti: What's happened?
Seele: What's going on?
Barbara was crying.
Barbara: I... *sniff* I—I received a letter... *sniff* It says... I—It says...
Bennett: Let me. I just came back from the wilderness. As usual, I came by the Cathedral to ask the sisters to patch me up. That's when I saw Barbara running out, white as a sheet. She was holding a letter.
Barbara: I've never received a letter like this before.
Venti: Can I take a look?
Venti read the letter.
Venti: Hm... "Dear Barbara, I've stolen the thing most precious to you and buried it."
Seele: What?! Someone stole something from Barbara?!
Bronya: This is why Barbara is crying. Because of the letter.
Venti: Huh... Could this be an attempt at intimidation?
Bennett: It's awful... is it a joke? If so, we don't need to worry. But...
Barbara: ...But... what if it's real...?
Paimon: There's a map on the back, isn't that out in the wilderness?
They looked at the picture on the back.
Bennett: Hmm... the thing most precious to you...
Venti: Hm, buried...
Bennett: Huh... that location on the map is familiar, I've definitely been there before.
Seele: But what could be so precious to Barbara that she would cry over it?
Aether: So what is the thing most precious to you?
Barbara: I can't think straight right now, nothing makes sense... *whimpers*
Bennett: It's coming to me... It's coming to me...
Barbara: The thing most precious to me... W—Wait, could it be? Oh no!
And then Barbara started running away.
Paimon: Barbara! Hey! Slow down!
Bennett: Aha! I've got it! The Thousand Winds Temple!
And then Bennett starting running away too.
Venti: Bennett — hey!
Paimon: Why are they in such a hurry? Let's catch up with them!
So they ran after them.
Barbara burst out the doors.
Barbara: ...My sister!
Rosaria: Slow down.
Barbara stopped running from hearing Rosaria's voice.
Barbara: Rosaria! I just—
Rosaria: Calm down. I ran into Jean a moment ago, Lisa was with her. She's fine.
Barbara: *gasp* R—Really? A—Are you sure? Whew...
Seele: Oh. So your sister is Jean. No wonder that you didn't want anyone knowing that your sister was Jean...
Barbara: Shut up!
Seele put her hands up.
Seele: Sorry!
Rosaria: ... That letter. Give it to me.
Venti: Sure...
Barbara: ...If they're not talking about Jean in the letter... then what are they talking about?
Bronya: That is a good question.
Paimon: Did you really think they'd buried Jean underground!? What a horrible thought!
Seele: buried alive. How scary.
Venti: So, sister, have you found any leads?
Rosaria: Looking at the map, the perpetrator seems to have marked out an area around Dawn Winery.
Rosaria: That's open land, so hiding something there... Hmm, what could it be?
Paimon: Nice work! How'd you figure that out so quickly? Although... Dawn Winery? That's not the place we were thinking...
Barbara: ...
Rosaria: Barbara, rather than letting your imagination get the better of you, stand up and face this head-on.
Barbara: ...You're right, it's just...
Venti: Hehe, it's a little scary, right? That's why we're going with you.
Bronya: So you won't be lonely.
Seele: And so you have friends with you.
Venti: What do you say?
Barbara: Uh? Th—That's very kind...
Venti: And you, Sister? Will you be accompanying us?
Rosaria: No need... I knew straight away there was nothing to worry about.
Paimon: Eh? And what does that mean?
Rosaria: ...Nothing. Get going, then.
Venti: Barbara, are you feeling a bit better now?
Barbara: Mm-hmm! I'm... I'm okay.
Barbara: Rosaria is right, better to know the of the enemy than stand here scaring myself.
Paimon: That's right! Let's get moving!
Barbara: Thank you, all of you. Let's get to the location and see what we find.
Paimon: Yup, yup! Go, Barbara, go!
Seele: Before we go, please let us introduce you to Durandal and Rita.
Barbara: Durandal and Rita...? *gasps*.
Durandal and Rita came into the picture.
Barbara: You... You... You're the super strong woman! The one that defeated super powerful monsters by yourself!
Durandal: Yet more shocked and surprised reactions.
Barbara instantly took Durandal's right hand with both of her hands.
Barbara: Hello! I-I'm B-Barbara! Deaconess of the Church of Favonius! It is an honor to meet the strongest of the Valkyries of St. Freya!
Durandal: This feels like when Alvitr and Susannah first met me. That is me, Durandal. My real name is Bianca but I'm called Durandal.
Barbara let go of Durandal and turned to Rita.
Barbara: And you must be Rita.
Rita: I am Rita, Sister Barbara.
Barbara: Wait! This is no time for greetings! I better get over to the location right now!
(At the location)
Paimon: Huh? Why are there Treasure Hoarders here?
Seele: They must be after the precious thing that Barbara holds dear. Let's get rid of them.
Durandal: Wait.
Durandal halted everyone.
Durandal: I'll handle them.
Durandal flash stepped.
Barbara: She's gone.
Theresa: Look over there.
All of a sudden, one of the Treasure Hoarders got blown away from a mysterious blow.
Treasure Hoarder: What the?!
Then the rest of them got blown away from a mysterious force.
Barbara: What just happened?
Himeko: Thats Durandal's speed. She trains every day to be stronger than anyone
Then Durandal reappeared.
The others came on over.
Barbara: It looks like there's something on the ground...
Seele: Let's dig it up.
So they dug it up from the ground.
Paimon: What is this? Hmm... quick, let's open it!
So they opened it up.
Barbara: I... I...
Venti: ...Interesting... such an exquisite gift box. What's it doing out here in the wilderness?
Barbara: ...Huh!?
Paimon: Wow, what a beautiful Windwheel Aster Wreath! And so many paper stars!
Seele: So it was nothing precious to Barbara?
Aether: Is this just someone's way of getting your attention?
Venti: Hmm... looks like our "perpetrator" is really just one of Barbara's fans.
Paimon: There's a note! What does it say? Hmm, let's see... "So sorry to get your attention this way. Please accept this Windblume as a sign of my sincere admiration for your virtue and sweetness." Huh? So it's... fraudulent intimidation, then?
Durandal: I can't believe someone would go so far to alarm someone famous and to make them cry for thinking something precious to them was stolen and buried.
Venti: Be it for the gods or that special someone, flowers should be offered in utmost sincerity. It's the most important ceremony of the Windblume Festival. Flowers of love and blessing, sent on such a special occasion... No effort should be wasted to make it spectacular. Behind the questionable methodology... here we have a meticulously thought-out and heartfelt gift.
Paimon: Heh... laying it on a little thick, aren't we? Still seems like someone with a few screws loose to Paimon...
Venti: Hahaha, maybe you're right. I think I have a suspect in mind who fits that description...
Paimon: Who? Who?
Seele:
Aether in mind: I think I know the answer too.
Seele: It's...
Venti: Shh! No telling, now... I'd like Paimon to make a few guesses.
Paimon: Ah!? You're so annoying!
Seele: But...
Venti: I said no telling.
Seele: Fine.
Bronya: Now come on Barbara, let's head back to the Cathedral.
Barbara: Yes Bronya.
(Timaeus' alchemy store)
Paimon: We're here! Timaeus' alchemy store.
Seele: This is where we make our potions and other materials.
Timaeus: Oh, did you say my name?
Venti: Looks like I beat you here.
Paimon: So... did you do your homework, Timaeus? Hehehe... Paimon wants to hear it!
Timaeus: Uh... So sorry, I haven't gotten around to it yet...
Theresa: Another one who hasn't started...
Sucrose: Timaeus! Might I ask how you're progressing? Huh? Travelers and friends! Oh, nice to see you again! *gasps*. The super strong lady and maid too!
Himeko: Why haven't you gotten started yet?
Timaeus: Sucrose has me deciphering an alchemical recipe, but my brain is doing backflips. I... I just don't understand it!
Sucrose: So, in other words... no progress?
Timaeus: *sigh* No.
Sucrose: Ohh... Now that you mention it, I can't figure it out either.
Paimon: Eh? Is alchemy really that mysterious?
Seele: And is alchemy really that hard to do?
Venti: But of course! Alchemy is an ancient and mystical discipline. Yet with the passage of time, those that can be said to have mastered its secrets go fewer and further between.
Aether: Why not just ask the amazing Albedo?
Seele: He would probably know something.
Sucrose: Yes! That was my thinking too, but I believe that Mr. Albedo is still painting on the mountain, and we've got lots of research to do... *sigh* There's no getting around it.
Timaeus: If you want my opinion, if Mr. Albedo can't figure out this recipe, nobody in Teyvat can. *sigh* Sucrose, what exactly is this recipe, anyway?
Sucrose: It's a Windblume recipe I transcribed from an ancient book.
Paimon: Ooh! What if the Windblume isn't a naturally occurring plant after all, but an alchemical creation!?
Seele: It could be.
Venti: Oh! Now that's an interesting take on the Windblume conundrum.
Sucrose: You misunderstand, the book doesn't say anything about it being a recipe for a Windblume! The book... *sigh* Well, actually... it doesn't exactly have the appearance of a book anymore.
Theresa: Then what does it have an appearance of?
Sucrose: It's badly damaged and lots of information is missing. Only a few pages of scattered notes from the original volume have survived. That and a recipe written in some unknown language.
Sucrose: The author mentioned in the notes that the recipe was extremely precious. Timaeus and I are completely unable to decipher the content. I know it might seem inconceivable, b—but... something about it being "extremely precious" made me think of Windblumes.
Timaeus: Huh? But...
Venti: Haha, that's an active imagination.
Sucrose: Travelers, if I may be so bold... Could you take this recipe to Mr. Albedo?
Seele: I guess we could.
Timaeus: Mr. Albedo should be at the camp at the foot of the mountain.
Venti: Ahh, the mountain. Now there's a romantic location!
Paimon: Windblume, the flower that alchemy made... Sounds exciting, Paimon needs to know the truth!
Himeko: We'll get it to Albedo.
Paimon: Let's get going, Albedo, here we come!
Sucrose: Hehe! I've got high hopes! Ancient alchemical methods are very complicated... I hope Mr. Albedo is able to decipher it!.
(Dragonspine Adventurer Camp)
They arrived at the camp.
Seele: This is the camp where adventurers camp out before going up Dragonspine.
Then they saw Albedo at the camp.
Paimon: Albedo!
Albedo: Oh? Travelers and Paimon? And who might they be?
Paimon: This is our Tone-Deaf Bard!
Venti: Venti will do just fine, but yes, I am a bard.
Albedo: Greetings, I'm Albedo the alchemist. And you must be Durandal and Rita.
Durandal: How did you know our names?
Albedo: I saw you on the missing person posters and I've watched you take on the monsters in Dragonspine.
Paimon: The Windblume Festival is in full swing, people celebrating everywhere, and here you are all by yourself.
Seele: Unable to enjoy the Windblume Festival with no camaraderie.
Aether: Must be lonely.
Albedo: Well, with the Windblume Festival in full swing, as you say, why would you be out here looking for me?
Paimon: We're helping Sucrose!
Seele: She needs your help with something.
Paimon: Sucrose gave us some paper, she says there's a Windblume recipe from an ancient text on it! Neither she nor Timaeus can understand it, so we came looking for you!
Albedo: A Windblume recipe?
Seele: Yes.
Aether: Here.
Aether hands it over then Albedo reads the alchemical recipe.
Albedo: I see. This is ancient language, it's no wonder Sucrose and Timaeus couldn't decipher it. Even so, I don't believe this is a recipe for a Windblume.
Paimon: So what could it be?
Albedo: I could only guess, I'm afraid. In order to reach a conclusion, we'll need to see the real thing. Sadly, my hands are full right now. But I can give you a list of ingredients, if you'd like to go gathering?
Theresa: We can go gather the ingredients.
Albedo: The recipe itself is from a forgotten era, but the thinking behind it is very innovative. Worth a try.
(Later)
Venti: Okay! Job done.
Seele: We got the ingredients you wanted.
Albedo: Great work. Let's have a look, shall we? Hmm, seems we have everything we need. Now for the alchemical process. This shouldn't take long.
Albedo walks over to the alchemy table and gets to work...
Albedo: There we have it.
On the crafting table was a large blue flower.
Venti: Huh...
Paimon: Uhh... Is this the Windblume that Sucrose was talking about? It...
Aether: ...Looks familiar.
Paimon: It's just a Sweet Flower!
Seele: Only it's blue and a lot more larger.
Albedo: Have a closer look. Are you sure it's the same as other Sweet Flowers?
Paimon: Uh... now that you mention it, why is this Sweet Flower so big...?
Albedo: So this is the "Windblume" created by following this ancient recipe. Haha, it really does make me think of Sucrose.
Venti: Huh, it does seem like something she would like.
Paimon: Do Sweet Flowers this size even count as Sweet Flowers anymore?
Albedo: I can say with certainty that yes, yes they do. Their essence is the same.
Paimon: But Sucrose said that she transcribed the recipe from an ancient book! Could it be that... there were Sweet Flowers around even in ancient times?
Albedo: There were indeed Sweet Flowers in antiquity. This species has a long history.
Paimon: Seriously!? Have Sweet Flowers... r—really existed all that time!?
Albedo: Yes.
Paimon: Whoa!
Seele: Really shocking.
Aether: Definitely something that Sucrose would like. Well then, I must head further into the mountain — I still have painting to do. Perhaps you could pass this on? Traveler, enjoy the celebrations.
They gained the Wondrous Lovely Flower from Albedo.
Theresa: Now let's head back to Sucrose.
(Timaeus' alchemy store)
Venti: Oh, Sucrose! We've got something for you.
Himeko: It's from Albedo.
Timaeus: Oh! You're back!
Venti: Timaeus, how's that homework coming along?
Theresa: I hope you worked on it while we were away.
Timaeus nods a few times.
Himeko: Glad that you finished it.
Sucrose: Did you get the Windblume? Let me see, let me see!
They showed Sucrose the Windblume.
Paimon: Here's the flower he created, but Albedo said it's just —
Sucrose: Wah! It's just like the Windblume in my dreams!
Paimon: ...It's just a Sweet Flower!
Sucrose: No, no, hear me out! This is a perfect specimen from an ancient recipe. I saw it in my dreams... The Tetratanic Sweet Flower!
Paimon: Uh... th—the what now?
Sucrose: The seeds of the Tetratanic Sweet Flower are four times bigger than those of ordinary Sweet Flowers, and the Sweet Flowers that grow from them are, well, Tetratanic Sweet Flowers. Bigger, stronger, sweeter, and more beautiful — a perfect Teyvat species! Oh — and not to mention that the recipe comes from remote antiquity... A perfect, magnificent flower from the far-flung past. Whatever people say, this is my Windblume!
Timaeus: Sucrose is... consistently Sucrose.
Sucrose: I must go and source some nutrients for my Windblume. Bye for now!
And then Sucrose left.
Venti: Haha, who knew alchemy could generate such enthusiasm? Now, Timaeus... Your homework?
Timaeus: Just finished, Sir. Here.
Paimon: Ooooh, here we go — Paimon's favorite part!
Venti: Timaeus, may I recite it?
Timaeus: Ah!? You're gonna read it out loud? Uhh...
Venti: Haha, don't be embarrassed. *clears throat* Here we go~
Venti: "Hand in hand with you before the furnace The flames fail to rise For they are burning in my heart."
Paimon: Wow... Sounds so romantic... and you even tailored it to your profession! Great job!
Theresa: Its great work you put in.
Himeko: Congratulations.
Venti: Truly, a masterpiece beyond all expectation, Timaeus. You're a natural!
Timaeus: Really...? Wow! I had no idea that someone like me could write love poems of any merit. It must have been Professor Venti's excellent guidance. Professor, as soon as I'm done here, I'll sort out my tuition fee!
Venti: Ahh, music to my ears, hehe! Now... that's job satisfaction. And I guess that's everyone's homework collected... no?
Paimon: Hmm....
Aether: Hmm...
Theresa: Hmm... I don't think we did.
Paimon: Aren't we... missing someone?
Venti: Who could that be...
Paimon: Hmmmm... Oh!
Paimon: Where did Bennett run off to?
Theresa: We better go ask Barbara.
(Cathedral)
Paimon: Barbara, we need to ask you something!
Bronya: The Bronya and Barbara need to ask you something too!
Barbara: Travelers, Paimon, Mr. Bard! Something terrible's happened. Bennett's gone missing!
Seele and Theresa: Missing?!
Venti: Missing? You mean, he hasn't returned after leaving that day?
Barbara: Yes... What if he's in danger? We have no idea where he is...
Rosaria: ...The Thousand Winds Temple.
Rosaria spoke from the steps. Tick marks appeared on Theresa.
Barbara: Huh? Rosaria!
Rosaria: With you all in the Cathedral shouting at the top of your lungs, I could hear everything you were saying.
Rita: Is something wrong Theresa-sama?
Theresa: It's Rosaria. When returning to Mondstadt, Kallen, Bronya, and I were given positions in the Cathedral. I thought all the sisters were nice all except for Rosaria. She said something mean to me, that I got provoked and used my Oath of Judah on her and had her in a bondage with my chains. But Barbara made me release her even though Rosaria was a big jerk.
Rita: She doesn't look like a normal nun and is not suited to be one.
Paimon: Oh! Paimon remembers now, he said something like... "I've got it! The Thousand Winds Temple!"
Venti: There's no time to lose, let's head to the temple and investigate.
Valkyries: Yeah!
(Thousand Winds Temple)
Paimon: No trace of Bennett anywhere....
Paimon: What's that over there?
???: Voices?! Razor, someone's coming! Maybe they're here to save us?
Venti: Travelers, keep your eyes peeled for enemies...
And then Ruin Guards spawned.
Seele: Ruin Guards, spawn in locations like these...
Durandal: I'll take care of them.
Durandal summoned her phantoms King and Queen and started destroying the Ruin Guards off camera as more spawned. The group all had blank eyes all except the Valkyries.
Venti, Aether, and Paimon: Uhh...
Seele: You see? Durandal is strong enough to take on huge enemies by herself rendering help and back up useless.
Rita: And since coming to Teyvat she did her training like she did back home to get stronger.
Seele in mind: Maybe her constellation should be both the king and queen constellations fused together.
The smashing stopped then Durandal came back on camera.
Durandal: All finished.
The camera showed all the Ruin Guards smashed and in pieces.
Durandal: I believe that Bennett is in there.
Durandal pointed to where Bennett was with Razor also having blank eyes from watching the whole thing.
Paimon: Ah! We're here! Bennett, we've come to the rescue... Whoa, this cell has two sections!
Bennett: See what I mean? Even they're surprised by this crazy cell!
Paimon: Lucky you two got locked on opposite sides...
Venti: Huh, what a superior design... and presumably an ancient mechanism is involved somehow?
Bennett: There's gotta be a mechanism around here somewhere. Quick, go look for it!
Durandal: I'll slash it open.
Venti: No wait. This time let's not break something.
Durandal: Fine.
Razor: Stomach... rumbling...
Bennett thinks for a few seconds before realizing something.
Bennett: ...You just ate the apple from my bag!
Venti: You two seem to have adjusted well to life in prison, we can leave you here if you like?
Bennett: No no no no no, not funny! I'm begging you, alright? Please, find the mechanism!
They search around before Aether finds something and when he pressed his hand against it, the mechanism was unlocked.
Venti: Aaaand open sesame!
Bennett: Ah... Freedom at last!
Aether: How did you get into this mess?
Seele: That's what we'd like to know.
Razor: Very... unexpected...
Bennett: Hahaha, I wouldn't call it unexpected. This was just a normal day for me.
Razor: Sorry.
Bennett: Ah... no need to apologize, it wasn't even your fault.
Venti: So, let's hear the story~
Bennett: Wait, what happened with that letter?
Paimon: Oh! It was just a false alarm, turns out some fans just wanted to get her attention so they could get a gift to her.
Theresa: It was really shocking.
Bennett: What the... That' terrible, what kind of a person does that!? I've been locked up here a whole day thanks to them!
Razor: S—Sorry...
Bennett: Don't be, Razor! I—I didn't mean... Like I said, there's nothing to apologize for! It was my fault for being so hasty in the first place. I rushed off without giving the map a proper look and ended up in the completely wrong location... *sigh* After I left the Cathedral, I came straight to the area around the Thousand Winds Temple. But there were monsters everywhere, not to mention Ruin Guards! You know — those huge things, I guess you've seen them before. But as a first-rate adventurer, I was able to rely on my wits to evade them. Then I got to the temple itself... The moment I arrived here, I heard a monster's roar!
Paimon: Well, Paimon's guessed the ending already...
Bennett: I remember thinking it must be some villainous trap the perpetrator had set for us. But was Bennett the adventurer, leader of Benny's Adventure Team about to back down? No way! So I charged straight in! ...That's when I found him inside.
Paimon: Razor, what were you doing at the Thousand Winds Temple?
Razor: Wolvendom... many hunters. Too noisy, so... I leave...
Venti: So you came all the way to the Thousand Winds Temple, then what? You were trapped by the mechanism?
Razor nods yes.
Razor: *grunts*
Bennett: Turns out it was no ordinary cell, what with the inner and outer sections. Of course, when I saw that Razor had been trapped inside, I had to rescue him... Then, all of a sudden...
Bennett: ...There was a huge crash as the other cell door came down.
Paimon: Yup, just as Paimon expected.
Bennett: Anyway... why did you come to the Thousand Winds Temple?
Venti: Bennett, did you forget about your homework? I'm ready to collect my tuition fee, once I've collected it of course.
Bennett: Oh! The love poem! Of course I didn't forget! It's not like I had much else to do, being stuck in this cell all day and all night, so at some point I just started working on it. It's all finished now, even Razor reviewed it.
Paimon: Oh yeah? Razor, how did he do?
Razor: Uh... Don't understand words. But feel... warm, tingly... Like... Wolfhook thorn...
Venti: Bennett, may I recite your work?
Bennett: Oh... Sure! A taste of Bennett's wordsmanship, hehe.
Paimon: Yay! A round of applause for Bennett!
Venti: "You and the Mare Jivari So close and yet so far One at the edge of the world The other in the center of my heart Wolfhook and dandelion My Windblume offering to you."
Paimon: Uhh... Wolfhook?
Bennett: Y—Yeah... Not bad... right?
Paimon: Uh... it's definitely your style...
Theresa: It's not bad.
Himeko: Impressive.
Aether: Full of Adventurers' Guild spirit.
Venti: A marvelous work. Unpretentious and honest, sincere and evocative.
Bennett: Thank you, thank you very much, Sir! And you too, Ma'am and Ma'am!
Razor: Bennett did good poem!
Bennett: Haha, thanks to you too, Razor!
Paimon: Congratulations! Nice job! Still, Wolfhook and dandelion...? Can they both be Windblumes?
Bennett: Oh, that was Razor's addition. I asked him: "What do you think the Windblume is?" Wolfhook was his answer.
Razor: Yes! Wolfhook... good.
Paimon: So, even berries count now?
Venti: A novel take indeed.
Bennett: Ah... I'm so happy, today was lucky. Getting rescued against the odds, receiving praise for my poem... brilliant! Sir, as soon as we're back in Mondstadt, I'll buy you some wine!
Paimon: Bennett's pretty easy to please...
Bennett: Hahaha, that's not quite it. I'm always so unlucky... so I'll take what I can get!
Razor: Yes! But... In future, be careful!
Bennett: Hey! You should talk! Hahaha...
Venti: Everyone, I have an announcement to make. All the poems from the fast-track class have now been collected!
Paimon: Great!
Venti: So to celebrate, let's go to the tavern and have a drink!
Bennett: I'm afraid Razor and I have to be going. He said he knows some relatively unknown areas worth exploring and wants to show them to me. Have a great time, though!
Valkyries: OK!
(Angel's Share)
They entered into Angel's Share.
Paimon: Hey Charles! It's us!
Diluc: Welcome, have a seat wherever you like.
Instead of Charles was Diluc
Paimon: Uh? Master Diluc?
Himeko: Ok.
Himeko and Venti sat down next to Rosaria who was also there.
Diluc: So you're Durandal and Rita. I've seen you both the missing person posters and heard the rumors about a super strong woman and a maid.
Durandal: And you must be Diluc, the one who hates the Knights of Favonius and the owner of Angel's Share.
Rita: It is nice to meet you, Master Diluc.
Kaeya: Oh! I was about to finish this drink and go looking for you, but you've done the hard part for me.
Venti: Sure is lively in here!
Kaeya: It is the Windblume Festival after all. No-one in Mondstadt who has the time and Mora is going to miss out on a trip to the tavern. Travelers, will you have a drink?
Aether: ...
Seele: Not really. I can't drink.
Theresa: Neither can I.
Durandal: Alcohol is bad for my health.
Kaeya: Haha, no pressure, it's not a requirement. Soaking up the festival atmosphere is the most important thing. Master Jean wanted to me to pass along this message... You've and the rest of your party have been chosen as this year's Windblume Stars! Quite the honor.
Paimon: Windblume Star?
Kaeya: The Windblume Star is one of Mondstadt's greatest honors, normally only bestowed upon those who have made enormous sacrifices for Mondstadt... or who have truly proven themselves over the Windblume Festival period. Now there will be more than one WIndblume Star.
Diluc: Since arriving in Mondstadt, you have offered invaluable support to its people. This is their way of saying thank you.
Kaeya: I know you will receive it gracefully. Oh yes — and another thing. The Windblume Star must attend the Windblume Ceremony together with the Acting Grand Master. During the ceremony, you will represent the people of Mondstadt in making a Windblume offering to the Anemo Archon, Barbatos.
Paimon: But, which Windblume are you talking about?
Kaeya: Hah, a good question. Diluc, care to explain?
Diluc: Passing on messages and deliberating over ceremonial details... Sounds more like your line of work, Kaeya.
Kaeya: *sigh* No sense of humor.
Kaeya: Travelers, the Windblume is always chosen by the Windblume Star. So the flower offered to the Anemo Archon for this year's celebrations... is entirely up to you.
Paimon: Whoa... no pressure, huh?
Theresa: Do the others know?
Kaeya: Yes they do.
Venti: Hey, where's is the bartender? How come Master Diluc's mixing the drinks?
Himeko: Yeah, it's usually Charles who is mixing the drinks.
Rosaria: If it's Charles you're after, he's out on delivery.
Kaeya: Hahahaha, and who is most directly responsible for creating the demand for an alcohol-delivery service at this time of the year in the first place?
Diluc: ...Hmph.
Venti: I see... So, what do you make of Master Diluc's mixing ability?
Kaeya: Why don't we ask the formidable Sister Rosaria... What do you think?
Rosaria: ...He's not bad.
Paimon: Formidable...? Did you guys have a fight?
Kaeya: I'd call it... a misunderstanding. I caught sight of a suspicious figure hurtling by the Knights of Favonius Headquarters. Fortunately, I discovered that it was Miss Rosaria, and stayed my hand.
Paimon: Aha! So the suspicious figure that day was Rosaria all along.
Seele: It was Rosaria.
Theresa: So shady.
Diluc: Folks in Mondstadt are on edge with you constantly on prowl. You're no ordinary sister, that's for sure.
Rosaria: Allow me to return the compliment, good Master Diluc. You're hardly a run-of-the-mill businessman yourself.
Kaeya: Haha... My, such a formidable wit, too. But really, is there any here among us today who can't be said to possess a talent or two? Even the celebrated Honorary Knights have graced us with their presence tonight. Truly, a good day for a drink.
Venti: Well said! So Kaeya, about that tuition fee...
Himeko: The bottles.
Kaeya: Please collect the goods from Diluc. Three bottles, as promised. They didn't come cheap.
Diluc: The better the wine, the higher the price... just economics.
Rosaria: How are you enjoying the Windblume Festival, Travelers?
Aether: It's a fun time.
Seele: The past few days were great. Spending time with Bronya during a festival was amazing.
Theresa: And we reunited with two more party members.
Rosaria: That's good to hear.
Kaeya: A toast, everyone. To a happy Windblume Festival and the free people of Mondstadt. Cheers!
Crowd: Cheers!
Venti: Hahaha, what a festival. Now, this won't drink itself!
Paimon: Tone-Deaf Bard, spare a thought for other people! Paimon's looking for good food, not just good drink!
Kaeya: I was going to say, isn't it about time the tavern menu had a few starters and mains? What's a drink without something on the side?
Diluc: Hmph... easier said than done.
Rosaria: ...Taverns are so much more fun than Cathedrals. Speaking of which, doesn't everyone get time off for festivals like this? Why doesn't the Church give us time off?
Theresa: Because the Church doesn't want to give its sisters time off.
Diluc: I doubt Charles is nimble enough to handle both.
After having a drink, the Valkyries, Aether, Paimon, and Venti went up to the statue where everyone was gathered at. The rest of the party and me were with Jean.
Paimon: Hey, Jean!
Jean: Travelers! Ah — excuse me. I should address you as Honorary Knight under the circumstances.
Kiana: Glad you all could make it.
Jean: I suppose you heard? You're this year's Windblume Star. You all will be making an offering of Windblumes to the Anemo Archon, Barbatos, on behalf of the whole of Mondstadt.
Mei: Yes.
Jean: ...Although... things will be a little different this time.
Paimon: *sigh* ...Yeah... But with us and the Tone-Deaf Bard here, this year's Windblume Festival is sure to be bigger than ever!
Jean: That is true... Thank you for taking up residence in Mondstadt, and I hope you continue to enjoy Mondstadt life.
Seele: We will.
Jean: Oh! The Windblume Ceremony is about to begin. Windblume Stars, have you chosen your Windblume?
Valkyries: Yes we have.
Paimon: So we choose one type of flower, then offer it to the Anemo Archon, right?
Jean: Exactly right. Please consider your choice carefully. Remember, you are representing the whole of Mondstadt.
Aether turned to Venti.
Aether: Venti, what kind of flower do you like?
Venti: Eh? ...Very cunning, trying to cheat, are we?
Jean: Ahem...
Paimon: Hey! Don't you two go spilling secrets during an occasion like this!
Venti: Haha, they told us! Don't worry about me, choose something you like! I trust your tastes.
Jean: So, Honorary Knights, what is your choice?
We presented our flowers. Lastly, Kiana presented her flower.
Kiana: Cecelia.
Paimon: Oh! Same idea as Beatrice, Cecilias for Windblumes. Pretty niche, but not without advocates!
Kiana: My mother was named after this flower, so I must offer it up.
Kiana in mind: Players who have played "Honkai Impact 3rd" would choose the Cecelia because of my mother.
Jean: On behalf of the people of Mondstadt, please offer your Windblume to the statue. Follow your instinct, choose whichever Windblume you see fit.
So we offered up our windblumes to the statue one at a time.
Jean: Thank you, Windblume Star, for your sincere Windblume offering to the Anemo Archon, Barbatos. May the wind protect Mondstadt.
Venti: Huh, interesting choice.
Aether You like them?
Venti: Hehe, take a guess...
Paimon: Typical Tone-Deaf Bard, stop making people guess all the time!
Patrick: You're so shady like Kaeya.
Venti: Ahahahaha! Okay, okay, I'll tell you. But not here though. Not a good idea with so many people in the plaza... Change of surroundings needed.
Paimon: Where should we go?
Venti: I want you to come with me to Stormterror's Lair.
(Stormterror's Lair)
We flew to Stormterror's Lair on Toriyama then landed at the top of the tower.
Theresa: This is Stormterror's Lair where we fought and saved Dvalin from the Abyss Order.
Venti: It's been a while since I've come here, and... things have gotten a little out of order. Travelers, shall we clear the area up a bit? Let's call it our Windblume gift to Dvalin.
Paimon: Hey, good point... doesn't Dvalin wanna take part in the Windblume Festival too?
Venti: He's not here, but I sense he'll be back soon. ...Right, I'll let you handle that area, I'll take another. Let's meet up top when we're done.
Everyone: Ok.
Rita: Time to clean up.
So we went around Stormterror's Lair and cleared out all the monsters and did other things like restore the wind's direction. We met back up with Venti at the top of the tower.
Venti: Ah... now this is a view
Aether: The scenery is beautiful.
Kiana: Without monsters.
Captain: And with all of us together.
Venti: Isn't it? I am fond of this place. Sometimes, when I've got nothing else to do, I come here just to sit and gaze a while.
Paimon: You mean sit and laze around?
Venti: Hahaha, guilty as charged!
Durandal: Very funny.
Venti: ...It's so beautiful... if only we had some cider in hand. So, Travelers. Mondstadt Windblume festival. Do you like it?
Kiana: It's full of love and cheer.
Mei: Everyone is writing love poems.
Bronya: Everyone is together with their friends and family.
Aether: It's great to be with everyone.
Venti: And yet, you still have something you wish to ask, do you not?
Aether: ...
Venti: I know your question. What are Windblumes, exactly? And what do Windblumes and the Windblume Festival mean to Barbatos, the Anemo Archon? As you've seen, the people of Mondstadt each make their own choice. Out of the millions of flowers there are, some choose the dandelion, others choose the Windwheel Aster.
Paimon: Huh... it does seem like "Windblume" means something unique to each person.
Venti: Correct, and long may that be the case. There is no single and answer and no true Windblumes in existence.
Paimon: So Windblumes... don't really exist?
Venti: The word "Windblume" dates from the age of Old Mondstadt. It was a code word that the people used to stay in contact and mount resistance in secret. At that time, people often said that the stronger the wind blows, the firmer the roots of the Windblume grow, and the brighter the flower that bursts into bloom. If you want my perspective, Windblumes don't exist. Yet they are all around us nonetheless.
Patrick in mind: Like how there are no secret ingredients.
Venti: They are the spirit of yearning for freedom, the courage to follow the wind wherever it may lead... All objects are beautiful and worthy of blessing... All can be Windblumes.
Paimon: You can't see them, but you can feel there presence everywhere... just like the wind!
Venti: Haha, well said. So what are Windblumes? Something that the Anemo Archon Barbatos will not define. Flowers of blessings, flowers of respect, flowers of love. Every individual has their own Windblumes and every individual has the right to define them.
Paimon: Guess it's no surprise that the type of flower given by the City of Freedom to it's deity is in itself an expression of freedom.
Aether: I enjoy the feeling of freedom, too.
Patrick: We all do.
Venti: I know.
Venti: It is people's shared will that brings them onto the same page. And surely, it is the wind of freedom that brought us together. It comes from the end of the journey, the edge of the world, the depths of our heart. It is ceaseless.
Venti: "Who was it that stroked your bloodied, determined visage By stream flowing small By boulder standing large" "Who was it that embraced your weary yet noble soul In dreams deep In skies soaring" "Dear friend I am leading you by the hand Into the night where lanterns shine bright" "To tell you a tale of freedom and dreams The tale of where this festival begins"
We listened to Venti more.
Venti: The Windblume Festival originated in the "Crown of the North, the City of Freedom"
The screen transitioned to Bennett and Razor walking towards Mondstadt.
Bennett: We gotta bring enough supplies this time, otherwise you'll go hungry again!
Razor nods.
Then it transitioned to Jean and Lisa walking past With Wind Comes Glory.
Venti (voice-over): So, if you're asking me...
Marjorie: On official business? We're grateful to you.
Jean: As are we to you.
Lisa: Funny, we haven't gotten together for a meal in a while.
Jean: It's been so busy lately...
Then it transitions to Sucrose and Timaeus studying the Tetratanic Sweet Flower as Albedo approaches.
Venti (voice-over): What should we do, on this day?
Sucrose: Mr. Albedo!
Albedo: How is the research going?
Sucrose: We've had a few issues...
Timaeus: Have a look a this. Now, we think...
Then to Rosaria, Kaeya, and Diluc at the Angel's Share.
Kaeya: Of course, any good tavern offers bar snacks.
Rosaria: Really?
(Kaeya reaches out for the bottle of wine and Diluc nonchalantly takes it away; Rosaria and Kaeya become upset.
Then to Barbara holding a picture of her and Jean in the Cathedral.
Venti (voice-over): How should we do it? Who should we do it for? Quietly? Or boldly?
Then it lastly transitioned to Noelle carrying a crate, with Amber gliding around the Cathedral nearly crashing into Noelle.
Venti (voice-over): Make the first move? Or trust to chance?
Amber: Aaaah... Look out! Sorry, so sorry!
Venti (voice-over): My answer is this:
Then the screen transitioned back to us just as it became night.
Venti: So long as we can all share fond memories, it doesn't matter Let the heart decide.
Then we saw Dvalin fly overhead.
Seele: That's Dvalin. The dragon we saved when we first came to Mondstadt.
Venti: Haha, I guess Dvalin found the gift we prepared for him. A fresh breeze and a comfortable environment, he'll love it.
Kiana: *yawns* What a great festival it was. Now I'm feeling tired.
Seele: *yawns* So many days of celebrating a festival event and I'm already tired.
Patrick: Let's head back to Mondstadt.
(Inn)
We were in bed after a long festival.
Kiana: Ah... The food from the Windbloom Festival, so tasty...
Kiana was talking in her sleep.
Kiana: Cecelia...
In the other room I was still awake.
Patrick: What a festival it was.
???: You can say that again.
A voice I haven't heard in a while spoke. Then his spirit appeared.
Drago.
Drago: You haven't been giving me any appearances lately. Why?
Patrick: Because writing takes time and I haven't been able to think of any ideas of how to feature you. And it's hard to come up with more dialogue for the Valkyries.
Drago: I hope that you come up with ideas soon.
And then he disappeared. Then I went to sleep.
