Chapter 26: Justice, for Books' Sake

(Wanwen Bookhouse)

Paimon: Wanwen Bookhouse... Guess this is where we go to buy books in Liyue.

Fu Hua: Correct. I've read some of the books here.

Paimon: Should we ask here if they have a copy of the Teyvat Travel Guide? It's super-duper interesting!

We went up to the boss of the place, Jifang then Fu Hua got in front of us.

Jifang: Oh, Miss Fu Hua. I'm glad you came by again. Feel free to look around, there's no obligation to buy.

Fu Hua: There is one specific book my friends and I are looking for.

Jifang: And which one might that be?

Paimon: We're looking for the Liyue volume of the Teyvat Travel Guide. Do you have it in stock?

Jifang: Sorry dear, we stopped stocking that a very long time ago. It just wasn't selling.

Paimon: Huh!? But the Mondstadt volume was so interesting! Bummer...

Jifang: The thing is, the author made it too personal, and the result wasn't really much of a guide. It barely sold any copies, and the few travelers that did but it made complaints afterward.

Fu Hua: Wow, that's unfortunate.

Aether: Too much passion, not enough clarity?

Fu Hua: Guess so.

Paimon: Well, that's a shame. The Mondstadt volume was a good read, even just as an adventurer's diary.

Jifang: The fact remains that I don't have it in stock. If you must read it, try your luck at Chang the Ninth's place.

Paimon: Who's Chang the Ninth?

A book collector who lives in Qingce Village. He's a complete grouch — but he will behave himself if the conversation is about books. He was a regular customer here back when he lived in Liyue Harbor, and I still send him the odd out-of-print book or two every now and then.

???: Did somebody say "out-of-print books"?

A blue haired boy came into the picture.

???: Is there a chance that volume six of "Legend of the Shattered Halberd" is also in his collection?

Aether: Who are you?

This boy was Xingqiu.

Xingqiu: Apologies my liege, where are my manners? My name is Xingqiu, a humble literature enthusiast who happened to be passing by.

He noticed Fu Hua.

Xingqiu: Oh, Fu Hua. Nice meeting you here.

Fu Hua: What a coincidence.

Patrick: You know him?

Fu Hua: Why yes I do.

Captain: We met him a while back.

Flashback scenes started playing.

Fu Hua: While exploring Liyue, we saw him fighting odd monsters by himself then we came in and helped him. Then we became good friends.

Then the flashback scenes ended.

Xingqiu: Since you guys and I are all in search of lost books, what say we travel together to Mt. Qingce and pay a visit to Chang the Ninth?

Aether: Makes sense. Please lead the way.

Fu Hua: We'll come with you.

Xingqiu: My pleasure, fellow book lovers!

We flew on Toriyama to where Chang the Ninth lived, at Qingce Village

Chang the Ninth: *sigh* The heavens are smiting me... Smiting me to smithereens...

Aether: Excuse us, are you Chang the Ninth?

Chang the Ninth: Uh-huh. And what do you want? Come on, spit it out!

Paimon: We've heard you've got tons of old books lying around, and we wanna borrow the Liyue volume of the Teyvat Travel Guide.

Chang the Ninth: Hmph. Don't get me started on the topic of my books... After the Chasm was sealed off, the family business started going south. Then, the Fatui started working to sabotage me...

The name, Fatui gave us annoyed looks. They were causing another crime and have not been pinned down.

Chang the Ninth: To pay off my debts, I had no choice but to pawn off my beloved book collection. Every last book! Do you have any idea what this means!?

Aether: You're sad you've got nothing to read now?

Chang the Ninth: Wrong! That was my life's work! I devoted my entire life to curating, collecting, caring for them... And now they're gone! Gone, I tell you!

Bronya: How unfortunate.

Chang the Ninth: *sigh* It's useless ranting and raving at you like this. All I can do is try to save enough Mora to buy them back. Unless you have other business here, I'm done talking to you. Goodbye! Off you go! Go on, go!

Xingqiu: Please tell me that you didn't pawn volume six of Legend of the Shattered Halberd?

Chang the Ninth: Legend of the Shattered Halberd... There's a title I haven't heard in a long time. You have good taste, my boy!

Paimon: What, but we don't?

Chang the Ninth: That work Wass an epoch-defining masterpiece. Granted. It was almost unknown at the time it was published... But over time it was the work that came to define the genre of martial arts novels — and sparked a plethora of imitation works. Barely any copies of the first edition were ever printed.

Xingqiu: The later edition inexplicably went out of print almost as soon as it was released — a shame given what it allegedly added to the original story.

Chang the Ninth: Yes! That's right, how did I forget? The original-edition sixth volume of that work is so rare, I could never bring myself to pawn it no matter how much I needed the money.

Xingqiu: You men— you still have it!?

Chang the Ninth: Yes. It is my one and only remaining treasure—

Changhu: Ay! Chang!

This man came in and walked up. His name is Changhu.

Changhu: You've got some nerve keeping me and my boss waiting like this. I need an answer! All you sell the Car Lapis or not? I'm sure you don't need me to remind you that if you mess with gentry Maocai, you're messing with the Fatui!

Chang the Ninth: *sigh* You again... But you know I can't afford to give a seventy percent discount on the price... I'd never be able to buy my collection back—

Changhu: That's your business. The question is, do you want your books or do you want food on the plate? Perhaps you'd like to take your books back with you to an early grave?

Tick marks appeared on our heads as we wanted to draw out our weapons.

Chang the Ninth: *Grr* You... *sigh*.

Xingqiu: Whoa there, friend. Come on. This gentleman is either willing to make a deal or he's not. You can't force him to sell against his will.

Changhu: Just who do you think you are? Keep your nose out of people's business!

Finally I drew out my sword and held my blade against his throat.

Patrick: We won't. You better get out of here you mean man,

Changhu: You don't scare me with you sword. And I'm not scared of a bunch of weak little girls.

The Valkyries felt offended and drew out their weapons. Even Xingqiu was getting angry.

Xingqiu: My liege, I am but one who comes to the aid of this gentleman in his moment of need. I am Xiangqiu, disciple of the Guhua Clan.

Changhu just laughed.

Changhu: A-hahahahahahaha... "Guhua Clan"! Did you hear this clown? He thinks he's a Guhua master! In this day and age! Hahahahaha...

Finally I had enough, I withdrew my sword and punched him in the gut. I made him caugh.

Changhu: There was me thinking that the last granddads of Guhua had keeled over and died by now. Who are you supposed to be then, some sort of Guhua messiah!?

I withdrew my fist and stepped back.

Xingqiu: Justice is blind to our backgrounds, my friend. That must makes someone trying to do the right thing. But you? The weasel who does the tiger's bidding may be less powerful than his master, but he is no less guilty.

Changhu: Get a load of this guy! Just you wait, you'll be sorry you crossed me! And you! You're gonna regret threatening me then punching me! And you, Chang... you're selling that Car Lapis whether you like it or not!

Changhu turned and left. The Valkyries sheathed their weapons.

Patrick: And slip.

I used Anemo and made Changhu slip and fall down a ledge. It did not kill him.

Patrick: We've faced a lot of people like that and they all paid the price. Now we'll make this guy pay the price too.

Chang the Ninth: *sigh* Oh, how the wolves prey upon the fallen tiger! My days are numbered.

Xingqiu: ...So just to come back to what we were talking about earlier, could I get a yea or nay about borrowing that book...?

Aether: Two words: situational awareness.

Chang the Ninth: Oh, what does it matter now? I can't expect anybody to care about me anymore. But since you did stick up for me, please just take this book and leave me in peace.

Xingqiu: Three long years I have waited for this day! Words cannot expressly gratitude... I, Xingqiu, vow to repay this great act of generosity!

Chang the Ninth: Alright, give it a rest! Just bring it back when you're finished. Sorry, but I'm not about to put my hopes in some self-professed Guhua disciple.

Chang the Ninth went back inside his house then Xingqiu started walking away.

Paimon: Hey! Where are you going!? We've still got a job to do over here!

Everyone started following after Xingqiu while I stayed a little bit longer.

Patrick: Another Fatui problem to deal with. Since this is another side quest involved with books, I'm gonna need you with us again.

???: Sure thing.

From a construct spell circle appeared Myne.

Myne: Taking away books from someone who spent years collecting is unforgivable.

Patrick: And I think that Blanc and Patchouli would say the same thing.

Myne: They would.

(0:36)

[There should be a GIF or video here. Update the app now to see it.]

Then she turned to the camera.

Myne: Now I have a second cameo in this FanFiction because of how this side quest has something to do with books. I'm glad! Better than some of the previous cameos I think.

Patrick: And now comes a reference to "Monty Python And The Holy Grail."

The characters that had cameos appeared in the scene in their respective home worlds

Maple: At least my cameo was first.

Toriko: At least mine was better visually.

SansoninHonkai / Charles Henri Sanson: At least mine was committed and it wasn't just a string of jokes.

Sanson's Bronya: Your cameo was indeed committed.

Sanson's Fu Hua: I wasn't really there but now I have the memories from the cloud and I don't know how Patrick made a copy of my memories.

And then characters who haven't had a cameo yet grew inpatient and wanted Main to "get on with it." First was Neptune in her Paladin armor in her room in Planeptune.

Neptune: Get on with it!

Then there was Shinguji Sakura behind cherry blossom trees.

Shinguji Sakura: Yes, get on with it!

Then appeared Saber.

Saber: I'm still waiting for my cameo with Shirou, get on with it!

Then there was Tanjiro.

Tanjiro: I'm still waiting for mine too, get on with it!

Even Inuyasha.

Inuyasha: That's right, get on with it!

And then an army.

Army: Get on with it!

Myne: Oh I am enjoying this scene.

Finally Toriyama in his home told Main to continue.

Toriyama: Get on with it!

Myne: Ok! Ok!

Patrick: Better catch up with the others.

Myne: Yes we should. Now carry me!

Myne jumped up and sat down on my shoulders.

Patrick: I guess I can give you a piggy back ride.

I began catching up with everyone while giving Main a piggy back ride.

(With the others)

When I finally caught up with them, Xiangqiu was in the middle of reading the book.

Patrick: Sorry I'm late everyone, I ran into an old friend and told her the problem and wanted to help out so I brought her here. Introduce yourself.

Myne: Hello everyone, I'm Myne. Like the rest of you, I'm not from this world.

Paimon: You aren't?

Myne: That's right. I was someone else before I was crushed under a bookcase of books from an earthquake. Then I was reincarnated into another world where I still had the memories of my old self and wanted to be what I wanted to be in my old world, a librarian. I saw you two at Lisa's library but didn't introduce myself to you.

Paimon: I did see a little girl in blue at the library.

Aether: How did you get here.

Myne: I summoned myself here.

Patrick: Enough about her. We better focus on the matter here.

We turned our attention towards Xingqiu.

Paimon: So you like reading, huh? Mr. Five-Second Hero?

Xingqiu: Ho-ho, amazing... I NEVER saw that coming...

Paimon: Hello! Xingqiu! Anybody in there?

Xingqiu: No wonder this book is so highly sought after...

Paimon: UGH!

Aether: That guy back at Chang the Ninth's was pretty bossy...

Seele: And a big fat meany.

Paimon: How can they bully poor old Chang the Ninth like this, forcing him to sell his ore for dirt cheap? It's daylight robbery, pure and simple!

Himeko: Back where we came from we've dealt with criminals who pulled tricks like that.

Theresa: And we've foiled all their sabotage plans and schemes.

Aether: Looks like we have got to find a way to help Chang the Ninth!

Kiana: You're right. We have to help him.

Patrick: To help him with his business.

Myne: And to help get his books back.

Xingqiu: Don't forget me. I'm in too.

Paimon: Oh, so NOW you can hear what we're saying!

Xingqiu: The reason why I borrowed this book is that it would be a real pity if Chang the Ninth ended up having to pawn it. And I meant every word I said to Chang the Ninth. I will return his act of kindness. It is the just thing to do. I will be custodian of this book, and I will also help find a way to buy back the rest of his collection.

Aether: You already have a plan, don't you?

Xingqiu: Of course I do. AN initial plan, anyway. I still need to work out the details. Give me a second to reflect. It shan't take a moment...

Changhu: you're still here!?

Changhu came out of nowhere which made us draw out our weapons.

Changhu: What is this, a game to you? You think no-one's really gonna get hurt?

Then more people appeared behind him. Men and Fatui.

Changhu: Huh. I gotta hand it to the Goofball Clan... What you lack in numbers and talent, you make up for in guts! Oh, I'm sorry — did I say Goofball Clan? I meant Guhua Clan... That's what you goofballs call it, right? Hahahahaha...

I shot a fire blast in front of him shutting him up and making him step back.

Patrick: I think you should step this one out and leave this to us. We better save your power for an emergency.

Myne: Ok.

Myne got off me then Bronya created an ice platform then sent Myne on top of a building.

Xingqiu: There's a saying that goes: "The insect that shakes the oak tree ludicrously overestimates its ability."

Changhu: Quit quoting proverbs at me, you buffoon!

Xingqiu: Please leave this place. I will not tolerate an attempt to coerce an honest trader — especially when the one you seek to threaten is one to whom I owe a debt of gratitude.

Changhu: It's cute that you wanna stick your neck out for Chang and all... But you picked the wrong time, you little punk! I brought the Fatui to back me up. A whole army of your little Guhua buddies wouldn't be able to help you now!

Patrick: But we can!

Captain: We make ourselves his army!

Sakura: He has us!

Kallen: And we won't let you force Chang the Ninth to pawn anymore of his books!

Changhu: Not even a bunch of little girls scare me.

The Valkyries got angrier from the insult.

Xingqiu: I maybe young, my liege, but the path I have chosen makes me no stranger to conflict. Why should I cower in the face of evil?

Changhu: Great speech. But now it's time for you to learn your lesson!

Patrick: No! It's time for you to learn your lessons!

We charged in as did the Fatui. With our anger we unleashed our elemental attacks all at once blowing them all back and now we begin fighting against them.Even Xingqiu was fighting. He had a Hydro Vision and was using Hydro attacks. We had the advantage over Changhu and the Fatui.

We had them beaten down in a matter of seconds.

Changhu: I thought that was just a regular pendant you were wearing, not a Vision! And you! You're the Celestial Empyrean sage! You won this round, but you better watch your backs! This isn't over!

And then he ran away. Bronya brought Myne back down.

Xingqiu: Would it be too much to hope that they've learned their lesson?

Myne: I don't think so.

Xingqiu: Myne wasn't it? You seem to have a passion for books like I do.

Myne: I do!

Aether: So, you're a Vision bearer!

Xingqiu: Yes, though I try to avoid using it. I dislike the unfair advantage it gives me against my opponents. Though I long to restore Guhua to its former glory, it is no easy task.

Paimon: They've gone for now, but they'll be back looking to cause more trouble before long.

Xingqiu: I'll see to it that no harm comes to those who show me kindness, there is a just and an unjust way to do business, and I will ensure the matter is resolved satisfactorily. Its not like the Fatui to pick sides in a business dispute. But the confident demeanor of their errand boy suggests there is substance to his words... There must be a deeper level of collusion at work here. He mentioned Gentry Maocai. I know this name... he has a stately residence in Liyue Harbor. Maybe all of you could go and investigate.

Paimon: This idea works... But what are you going to do?

Xingqiu: Me? I have other things to look into. Let me see... Let us meet at Yujing Terrace in Liyue Harbor in a bit.

Paimon: You really have stuff to do? Are you sure you're not just using us as your errand runners?

Xingqiu was once again reading the book.

Xingqiu: Wow... So that's how that turned out! This whole passage is just... extraordinary!

Paimon: ARGH! This guy is so ANNOYING! Paimon just wants to slap him right in his stupid face!

Aether: First let's help Chang the Ninth.

Paimon: Hmph. FINE! But as per tradition, Paimon gets to pick an ugly nickname for him! From now on he shall be known as... Guhua Geek!

Myne: Forget it. We better go.

Patrick: That's right.

(Liyue Harbor)

After flying back to Liyue Harbor, we walked right in. Myne was reading one of her books from her world. Fu Hua was now the one given her a piggy back ride so she doesn't bump into someone while reading. We went up to this place where we walk up to a guy named Sturdy Wu.

Sturdy Wu: Who goes there?

Aether: We're Mondstadt merchants here for a meeting with Gentry Maocai.

Sturdy Wu: Really? He didn't mention anything about a meeting... The Master is dealing with some urgent business today. All prior appointments have been canceled.

Paimon: Urgent business? ...What is it?

Sturdy Wu: The Master has been working on a major business deal recently. He left early this morning to meet with a VIP client.

Paimon: So where is he now?

Sturdy Wu: I'm sorry, the Master has stressed that we must not disclose that information to just anyone...

We have him a threatening stare.

Aether: "Just anyone" Are you saying we are not his VIP clients?

Sturdy Wu: N—No! I mean yes, yes you are! Ah... I—I meant no offense, please believe me...

I unsheathed my sword and held it up against his throat and was terrified.

Patrick: Take us to Gentry Maocai right now! Or else you will suffer the consequences!

Sturdy Wu: I—I—I can't! Masters orders!

Patrick: Wrong answer.

I turned to Myne.

Patrick: Do your thing with your eyes.

Myne nodded her head yes then her eyes started glowing rainbow then she unleashed her mana then she held her hand up and held Sturdy Wu in a grip like using the force. Then sheathed my sword and let Myne talk in her other voice.

Myne: Your boss is stealing someone's books and has been sabotaging a poor man's business.

Even Paimon was scared.

Paimon: She's terrifying.

Patrick: This isn't the first time she acted like this.

Sturdy Wu: Please! Let me go! Mercy! I'll tell you anything!

Aether: Then tell us where we can find him right now!

Sturdy Wu: I'm sorry, I'm sorry! Master is currently in business negotiations at Xinyue Kiosk! I beg for your mercy! Please, my master will show me no leniency if he finds out...

Paimon: Well, MY master has much more important things to do than talking to rude guards like you. Lucky for you, your bad attitude will be the last thing on his mind when he's busy negotiating a big business deal with your boss!

Kiana: And the rest of us too!

Patrick: We've heard enough from you. Let him go.

Myne released her grip then let Sturdy Wu go. Then her eyes returned to normal then she stopped using her mana.

Sturdy Wu: Th—Thank you, thank you! May  your business forever be blessed by the Lord of Geo!

We walked way from him.

Paimon: Nice work, guys! Paimon never knew you all were such tough negotiators.

Patrick: It was nothing. All we had to do was interrogate him by scaring him.

Myne: I've scared a lot of people with my magic. Especially this old man that tried to kill my parents.

Himeko: We've interrogated a lot of criminals before.

Aether: you were great too, Paimon.

Paimon: Tee-tee! Paimon loves compliments and all... but treating Paimon to some tasty snacks would show that you really mean it!

We all laughed.

Paimon: Anyway, seems like the VIP client in question must be one of the Fatui.

Aether: I think your right.

Mei: It has to be one of the Fatui.

Bronya: The Bronya agrees.

Theresa: Its pretty obvious its one of the Fatui.

Paimon: In that case, let's get ourselves over to the Xinyue Kiosk!

Patrick: Kallen.

Kallen: You got it. It's time for Rogue Extraordinare to take on a soy mission!

Kallen spun around in a black and purple twister then she changed into Rouge Extraordinare. Then Selune's Elegy appeared by Kallen.

Paimon: Seems business is booming at the Xinyue Kiosk. No-one should notice if we blend in there.

Kallen: I won't need to do that.

Paimon: But either way, if we wanna know what kind of shady business they're up to, we better be careful!

Kallen: Exactly that.

When Kallen put her mask on, she completely disappeared into the shadows as did Selune's Elegy.

Aether: They're gone.

Patrick: You and Paimon should follow them. The rest of us will wait for you.

(Xinyue Kiosk)

We watched Aether and Paimon walk in while the rest of us stayed in another building area on top. In the shadows Kallen and Selune's Elegy were spying on Gentry Maocai. Then Aether an Paimon came in and stayed out of sight.

Gentry Maocai: I understand. I do. Please do not worry, you have my word that the order will be completed as promised.

Inside they say him talking to a Fatui Agent.

Agent: Hmm,,, The subordinate I sent was not quite so optimistic in his appraisal. Is somebody being uncooperative?

Gentry Maocai: Ah... We just ran into a minor procurement problem is all. We haven't managed to purchase that For Lapis yet. But it's nothing fr you to worry about. If Chang the Ninth won't sell, I can buy from someone else.

Agent: That would be most ideal.  Remind you again that the Fatui only care about the result. We are willing to lend a certain degree of support to this transaction. But if it is not completed in time... You may suddenly find our good will comes at a price you cannot afford.

Gentry Maocai: I understand... I am indebted to you for your protection. You know I would not dream of disappointing you, don't you?

Agent: We shall see when the time comes.

Gentry Maocai: *sigh* Darn that old man Chang!

Kallen: So our hunch was right after all.

Paimon: So, Mr. Gentry Maocai is colluding with the Fatui! Who knows if Guhua Geek has made any progress. Should we go tell him?

Kallen: We should.

Selune's Elegy: He needs to know.

(Later)

We found Xingqiu somewhere in Liyue Harbor. He was still reading.

Paimon: Hmph! You said you had other things to look into, as if you're some sort of man of mystery... When actually all you meant was you wanted somewhere new to park your backside while you read your book!

Aether: We know what Gentry Maocai's up to now.

We explained to him everything that Gentry Maocai was colluding with the Fatui.

Xingqiu: I see. I guessed as much.

Paimon: Did you really guess, or are you just saying that to sound clever?

Xingqiu: The course of action we must take is now clear. To start with, please deliver this letter to the Feiyun Commerce Guild. They  will know what to do.

Captain: We will do just that and beat the Fatui!

Xingqiu: My lieges, for reasons that I cannot explain, I will be unable to join you. There is no need for you to read the contents of the letter, when the time comes—

Paimon: Whew, this writing is super hard to read! Paimon can't make heads or tails with it...

Kiana: Neither can I.

Aether: A secret text that needs a viper perhaps?

Xingqiu: Oh... Hence why I said there's no need to read it... The Feiyun Commerce Guild will have someone who can understand it.

Paimon: But why do you wanna get them involved? They're one of the bigwig commerce guilds in Liyue — why would they wanna help us?

Aether: What is the Feiyun Commerce Guild?

Paimon: Since we got to Liyue, Paimon keeps hearing people mention it. Seems they oversee a lot of business that goes on around here.

Fu Hua: I've seen them in action before.

Paimon: having such big backing would be great and all... But are you sure they'd wanna help?

Xingqiu: No need to worry about that. From what I know, they share my sense of chivalry. Once they have read the carefully reasoned and passionately argued case I put fourth in this letter, they will certainly be moved to action.

Aether: Why get them involved anyway?

Patrick: How can you be sure?

Xingqiu: Gentry Maocai must be taught a lesson he will never forget. This is something we cannot do on our own. Also, I do not wish for anyone else to know of my involvement in this.

Paimon: Why not? You're only dong this to try and help Chang the Ninth, right?

Xingqiu: "To silently disappear at the matter's conclusion, concealing one's name and contribution," this is the chivalrous thing to do. To savor the memory is able reward. Each droplet of kindness I receive I am duty-bound to repay with a welling spring of gratitude. I seek neither praise nor reward.

Paimon: That sounds very lovely. But be honest — you just want them to do it so you can carry on reading your book, don't you?

Xingqiu: Thank you in advance for delivering this letter to the Feiyun Commerce Guild. Someone from the guild should be able to receive you near Liuli Pavilion.

Paimon: Hey! Stop ignoring Paimon!

Myne: Just forget him. He won't come with us. We'll just have to fight against the bad man by ourselves.

Paimon: Fine!

[There should be a GIF or video here. Update the app now to see it.]

(Liuli Pavilion)

We got to the Feiyun Commerce Guild and delivered the letter to request help from them. We wanted to leave but the Guild wanted us to stay and we did. While enjoying a good meal, Xu from the Guild told us the plan. We had to buy all the Cor Lapis. We had three locations to go to. First we had to go to three vendors in Liyue Harbor, then we had to go to the Chasm, and lastly to buy the Cor Lapis from Chang the Ninth. The Guild will supply us with all the Mora we need to get all the Cor Lapis we need. The Guild will do the rest.

And once we've purchased all the Cor Lapis, we go to the Feiyun Commerce Guild's warehouse. After Xu left, we did hands in the middle then put our hands up.

First we went to the three sellers in Liyue Harbor. When we said the Feiyun Commerce Guild, the sellers instantly sold us the Cor Lapis. While getting the Cor Lapis, Myne was reading one of her other books. Then we flew to the Chasm where we met Shizhuang the Strong. We were gonna get Cor Lapis from him but first we had to get 5 carts back that were ambushed by hilichurls. After we got them back, we got the Cor Lapis.

Then finally we flew to Chang the Ninth's place. We told him the good news and made him happy. After getting his Cor Lapis we flew to the Feiyun Commerce Guild Warehouse where Xingqiu was waiting for us.

Xingqiu: Welcome. The final act in this drama would not be complete without you two here as audience.

Paimon: You'd better believe it! We're the ones who've been doing all the work! What exactly have you been doing all this time?

Xingqiu: Ah, well... Naturally, I used the time to immerse myself completely in Legend of the Shattered Halberd. I managed to finish the book off, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Divine Halberd and Ominous Sword, Mir and Weiyang... The way the story develops across the first five volumes nothing short of exemplary. But the sixth volume... words fail me. How blessed we are to have such an author grace our world with such works.

Paimon: And this is related to Gentry Maocai... how?

Xingqiu: It's not, but when something surpasses expectation to such a degree, one must show one's appreciation.

Aether: You saw how everything would play out.

Myne: Just like a great reader.

Xingqiu: And it is thanks to your help that everything will play out just as I had foreseen.

Aether: Is the ending of the book good?

Myne: Yeah, is it good? Because sometimes stories have good endings and some stories have tragic endings.

Xingqiu: It was rather good, thanks... I only hope that as our plan reaches its denouement, it too will live up to its expectations.

Paimon: ...Why does Paimon have to be the only one who doesn't get what's going on? No fair! Ahh... So go on then, tell me. What are we doing here? And what's this big dramatic showdown thing that's supposed to happen?

Xingqiu: Think about it. Gentry Maocai goes searching for Cor Lapis all over Liyue Harbor, and he doesn't find a single piece. He panics — without the goods, he can't fulfill his contract. And if he can't fulfill his contract, he can't stay in good standing with the Fatui.

Kiana: So he's going to get angry?

Patrick: It would make sense, yes.

Xingqiu: He hears a rumor that the Feiyun Commerce Guild is the culprit. Panic turns to disbelief. Gentry Maocai is a hugely powerful figure in the business world. Never has anyone dared to target him like this. So regardless of whether it is revenge or a swift resolution that he seeks, he is certain to—

Gentry Maocai: So it was you! You were the ones sticking your necks out for Chang the Ninth!

We turned around and instantly drew out our weapons and pointed them at the person who spoke. Gentry Maocai

Xingqiu: Speak of the devil.

Next to him was the Fatui agent he was speaking with and more Fatui soldiers but with no masks covering their eyes.

Gentry Maocai: I went everywhere trying to find someone selling Cor Lapis before I realized the Feiyun Commerce Guild had been on an acquisition spree!

Gentry Maocai: Cor Lapis is hardly a rare mineral, and yet suddenly the stocks dry up, just like that! Explain yourselves! What is the meaning of this persecution?

Patrick: You should face facts Gentry Maocai! You've already lost!

Myne: Yeah you've already lost!

Xingqiu: We are not persecuting you, but protecting another, one to whom I am indebted. Upon witnessing an injustice, it is a perfectly normal response to rush to the aid of he who has been wronged.

Myne: And you forced him to sell his books! That is the most unforgivable thing to do!

Xingqiu: Was it not one of your own men who said... this isn't over?

Gentry Maocai: Hmph. You clearly don't know what's good for you. I won't beat around the bush. Master, if you please. Seize their Cor Lapis!

Everyone: We won't let you!

We did a battle pose then Higokumaru and the ELFS appeared and did their own battle poses.

Blood Embrace: I can't wait to drink more Fatui blood!

We rushed in and engaged the Fatui. We unleashed everything we had as a team with help from Xingqiu and from Myne. I took on The Fatui Agent Javert with my duel wielding abilities, Fu Hua and Xingqiu fought side by side, and Theresa was fighting side by side with Myne. The Captain was fighting with the ELFS and Sakura was fighting with Higokumaru. Blood Embrace was enjoying herself sucking blood from the Fatui soldiers that she is scaring them away.

Blood Embrace: More free blood just for me!

Just when the Fatui agent uncloaked himself and charged at me, I used...

Patrick: Full Counter!

I used Meliodas' move and reflected his attack and sent him flying back.

Everyone: It's over!

We used our final attacks and defeated all the Fatui. We had them down. We pointed our weapons at Gentry Maocai.

Patrick: It's over, Gentry Maocai. You lost.

Gentry Maocai: No... No! This isn't over! I'm not done yet!

Agent: Impressive. You are no commoners... To continue this fight would be to incur greater losses than I can accept.

Gentry Maocai: Their strength is almost spent! Finish them off! The Cor Lapis is almost within our grasp...

Agent: Might I remind you that the Fatui's relationship with you extends to business matters only! I did not lend you my men to have them stir up trouble at your beck and call!

Gentry Maocai: W—What are you saying? Master, everything I did, I did with only one thing in mind — to complete the order!

Agent: Then figure it out by yourself!

And then the Fatui Agent left Gentry Maocai.

Gentry Maocai: D—Don't go! Wait! Master! Waaaait...

Then a punch of Kunai knives were thrown in front of him then shurikan stars were thrown down behind him. They came from Sakura and Mei.

Sakura: It's already over Gentry Maocai.

Mei: It's time to turn yourself in. Bronya!

Bronya: Right!

Bronya used her Cryo magic then froze Gentry Maocai in an ice block all but the head.

Then all of a sudden, Xu came out of no where.

Xu: My lord! What are you doing here? Are you hurt?

Xingqiu: Thanks to this valiant young men and women, I am unscathed.

Paimon: "My lord"?!

Everyone: "My lord"!?

Everyone except Fu Hua were shocked.

Gentry Maocai: You... You are the heir of the Feiyun Commerce Guild?

Xingqiu: Indeed, my liege. I am Xingqiu, disciple of the Guhua Clan and second son of the Feiyun Commerce Guild manager, and I make no secret of it.

Fu Hua: I knew it all along but didn't tell any of my friends. Because if I did, one of you would have blurted it out.

Gentry Maocai: Drats! I've been played like a fiddle!

Xingqiu: Gentry Maocai, coercion and intimidation are hardly the attributes of a respectable businessman. The problems that your business practices have created, I have sought to resolve through mine. I shudder to think what the Fatui will do with you if you fail to provide their Cor Lapis.

Gentry Maocai: You meddling swine! Well, go on! Tell me, what will you sell it for?

Xingqiu: Since you asked Chang the Ninth for a discount of seventy percent, let's fight fire with fire, shall we? Three times the market rate sounds fair, no?

Gentry Maocai: How dare you subject me to such viciousness! This is a malicious and calculated attempt to run me into the ground—

Xingqiu: ...Deep breaths now. This is a simple decision. Will you buy, or not?

Gentry Maocai: I... Hmph, fine, have it your way! I'll find the money somehow. Happy now!?

Xingqiu: On behalf of the Feiyun Commerce Guild, I thank you for your business and hope you will continue to do business with us in the future.

Patrick: Your last line is "I would have gotten away with it, if it weren't for you meddling kids!"

Gentry Maocai: I would have gotten away with it, if it weren't for you meddling kids!

Kiana: A reference to "Scooby Doo"? Really?

Patrick: And a reference to young Joseph Joestar.

Paimon: You? Funny-speaking, book-reading, Guhua-geeking, Xingqiu... Are the heir of the Feiyun Commerce Guild!?

Paimon: So that massive stash of Mora you let us burn through in a day — that was from your private vault!?

Xingqiu: 'Twas but a paltry sum. I got to make a very sound investment while putting Gentry Maocai in his place. A classic two birds, one stone situation.

Aether: Appearances really can be deceiving.

Xingqiu: You're too kind. You have valor in your heart, and that is worthy of admiration.

Paimon: Yikes! Paimon's been calling you Guhua Geek this whole time... Paimon read in one of these martial artist novels that when rich heirs like you get angry at someone, you have their arms and legs chopped off! Arghhh, Paimon's toast! And sorry! Very sorry! Please don't hurt Paimon~!

Xingqiu: Calm down — since you can fly, you hardly need your legs anyway.

Paimon: ARGH! Save me guys, save me! This is not a drill. Repeat, this is not a drill!

Paimon hides behind Aether's back.

Aether: He's so obviously joking.

Captain: Yes, he is. Obviously.

Xingqiu: Jokes aside, I have a of you two thank for this successful resolution. Really, you were a huge help. Especially you, Fu Hua.

Fu Hua: Like wise, Xingqiu. It was great fighting along side you.

The two friends shook hands.

Xingqiu: Meanwhile, Legend of the Shattered Halberd was positively riveting. Much obliged if you could return it to Chang the Ninth for me.

Aether: You're making us run yet another errand!?

Fu Hua: Calm down. It's not that bad.

Xingqiu: I did nothing, and hence deserve none of his gratitude. All of you, meanwhile, though strangers to the circumstances, stepped in and saved the day. To have made such valiant and chivalrous friends is more than enough for me, my lieges.

Xu: My lord, forgive the intrusion... It's about your father...

Xingqiu: Please inform my father thusly: I have averted a disaster and earned a sizable sum of money in the process. Might this meritorious act compensate for my prior transgressions and earn me a few more days of freedom, perchance? Legend of the Shattered Halberd speaks of a domain that I should very much like to investigate...

Paimon: For all your clever long words, the fact is you're just a lazybones who doesn't wanna work!

Myne: Like me who only wants to read books all day.

Xingqiu: Hahaha... What if I told you that a reward awaits you at Chang the Ninth's place, and not just his gratitude?

Paimon: A reward! Hmm... Well, that sweetens the deal somewhat.

Xu: *sigh* It seems whatever I say, there's no persuading you to stay...

Aether: Why didn't you tell us Xingqiu was the Feiyun heir?

Xu: Oh, I didn't realize you weren't aware...

Xingqiu: Thank you in advance for returning the book for me, I will take my leave now. May we meet again, fellow merchants!

Fu Hua: And may we meet again, Xingqiu!

Xingqiu and Xu turned to leave while I summoned Toriyama back to fly us to Chang the Ninth's place. We arrived back just in time then I sent Toriyama back so Chang the Ninth doesn't see him.

Chang the Ninth: Finally, you're back! This morning the pawnbroker showed up and gave me back my entire collection!

Myne: Really?!

Chang the Ninth: Yes! I'm positive that you must have been behind this once again. Thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Aether: Actually, that wasn't us.

Patrick: it was Xiangqiu.

Chang the Ninth: Please don't say that. You have no idea how much this means to me!

Chang the Ninth: The Chang family was a prestigious household in Liyue back in the day. Unfortunately, after I took over the family's affairs as heir, a series of business setbacks devoured our fortune... Since then, I've saved for years, hoping to restore the house to its former glory... In the end, everything was riding on this Cor Lapis deal. Were it not for you, this barren wasteland in the mountains would have become my final resting place.

Paimon: Wow, that's the second heir we've met in this town!

Chang the Ninth: I'm sorry, what?

Paimon: ...Uh, nothing! Oh — here's your book back.

We handed him the book back.

Chang the Ninth: Wonderful, Legend of the Shattered Halberd! I was beginning to think that Guhua rascal had swindled me!

Paimon: Do people really look down on the Guhua Clan so much?

Chang the Ninth: Actually, the art is centuries old, and was once held in high esteem. But now it has faded beyond recognition. To instigate a revival, you need to inject some fresh blood, but it's hard to attract budding young talent to a dying art... And so it becomes a vicious cycle. In any case, Guhua kids these days... Take that young rascal Xingqiu for instance, for all his talk about repaying kindness with kindness and whatnot, what has he done to show for it? You're the ones who've displayed a genuine sense of responsibility.

Aether: He's better than you give him credit for.

Chang the Ninth: Ah, what does it matter? Anyway, you wanted the Liyue volume of the Teyvat Travel Guide, didn't you? I'll fetch it for you.

He went inside then came back with the Liyue volume of the Teyvat Travel Guide then handed it to us.

Chang the Ninth: It's yours to keep. In addition, here is but a small token of appreciation for your huge generosity.

Aether: Finally. Our trip was worth it after all. We'd almost forgotten about that.

Kiana: It was all worth it.

Himeko: We saved someone's business.

Theresa: And kicked some butt too.

Chang the Ninth: My ore is sold and my treasured books have returned, I can't believe it... What?

A strange bookmark falls out of the book.

Paimon: What was that? Paimon saw something fall out...

Chang the Ninth: Huh. Nothing, nothing...

Chang the Ninth in mind: (That little rascal... surely isn't...)

We turned to leave then went to another area to say goodbye to Myne. I summoned Toriyama back so he can join us.

Patrick: Well, it's time for you to go home, Myne.

A portal opened for Myne to go home to her world.

Patrick: It was great fighting and adventuring alongside with you, Myne.

Myne: Oh it was nothing. I'm glad I got to spend some more time with you and everyone else.

Patrick: Isekai World travel stories are the best. I'm wondering on who I should feature next. Kazuma, Ains, Tanya, or Subaru? Or maybe Naofumi? I'll think about which one of them I should invite next.

Myne: Ok.

I kneeled down then we hugged then separated. Myne started giggling and laughing like a typical little girl then ran into the portal before it closed.

Patrick: Well, another side quest completed. Let's head back to Liyue Harbor. We still have business with Childe.

Everyone: Right.

We got on Toriyama then we flew back to Liyue Harbor.
