???: Hey, you! Stop right there!

A girl's voice called out to us. Then a girl jumped out from a higher ground and got in front of us.

Patrick in mind: That must be Amber, the girl from some of the trailers and beta test let's play videos. They say that she's cute and attractive. She's an archer and can use Pyro magic.

Amber: May the Anemo God protect you, strangers! I am Amber, Outrider for the Knights of Favonius. You don't look like citizens of Mondstadt. Explain yourselves!

Patrick in mind: Just like in the beta, Amber thinks that the player and Paimon are hostiles. I've been memorizing what to say and better do that now.

Paimon: We're not looking for trouble.

Amber: That's what all the troublemakers say.

Patrick: We're just travelers passing by. My name is Patrick.

Kiana: Kiana.

Mei: Mei.

Bronya: Bronya.

Seele: Seele.

Aether: Hello, my name is Aether.

Paimon: Paimon!

Amber: ...Doesn't sound like local names to me. And this... mascot, what's the deal with it?

Aether: We're friends.

Paimon: I mean we've only been traveling partners for two months but... we've already become the best of friends. And now we've become traveling partners and the best of friends with these five individuals just today.

Kiana: And she's emergency food too.

Paimon: Hey! That's even worse than being a mascot!

Kiana laughed as did Seele and I too.

Kiana: I'm just joking! I just wanted to see your reaction if you ever get called emergency food!

Then we stopped laughing.

Amber: So to sum it up, you're all traveling partners, right?

Kiana: That's right.

Mei: We are.

Bronya: 100%

Seele: Exactly.

Amber: Well look, there's been a large dragon sighted around Monstadt recently. Best you get inside the city as soon as possible. It's not far from here, I'll escort you there.

Paimon: Oh? Aren't you out here for some other reason?

Seele: The way you showed yourself to us gave us a theory on another reason why you're out here.

Amber: I am. But not to worry, I can keep you all safe while doing that too... Besides... I'm still not sure if I can trust you people just yet.

Kiana: Do we look suspicious to you!...

Mei silenced Kiana by covering her mouth and holding her back.

Aether: Why so suspicious?

Amber: Oh, ahh... I'm sorry. Probably not something I should say as a knight. I give you my apologies, uh.... Strange yet... respectable travelers.

Paimon: That sounded so fake!

Amber: Do you have something against the type pf language usage prescribed by the Knights of Favonius Handbook!?

Patrick in mind: Better prove to Amber that we can be trusted. In order to do that, we'll help her fight against the hilichurls.

Patrick: Then let us help you. To prove our trust to you. We'll help you.

Kiana: We've fought against monsters before and we can defend ourselves. Just watch!

Kiana whipped out her crossbow then fired a Cryo arrow at a flying slime killing it.

Kiana: You see? We can prove to you that you can trust us.

Amber: ...Ok, but if you try to assault me, then it proves that I can't trust either of you.

Amber took out a bow then fired a Pyro arrow at another flying slime, killing it. Now Amber walked with us.

Amber: So, suspicious travelers, what are you doing in Monstadt?

Paimon: Aether got separated from his sister during a really, really long journey. Paimon is his travel buddy helping him to find his sister. Then these guys joined us because they got separated from their friends and family during another really, really long journey and now we're all travel buddies.

Amber: Oh, looking for your friends and family... Huh. ... Oh! Let me finish my other stuff first, and then I can help you put up posters around the city...

Paimon: What exactly is it you need to finish doing first?

Amber: It's simple. You'll understand in a bit.

We got to another teleport waypoint but then we saw a hilichurl

Paimon: Ah! A hilichurl!?

Amber: Quick! Get it!

Kiana: You got it!

At the same time Kiana and Amber shot arrows of Cryo and Fire which both took out the hilichurl.

Amber: These monsters have been getting too close to the city recently. My task this time is to clear out their camp.

As we snuck up to the camp, Kiana and Amber stayed hidden to shoot the hilichurls from a distance while me and the others who know how to fight at close range took out the hilichurls and Bronya stayed back to heal us. We managed to clear out all the hilichurls without breaking a sweat.

Amber: Heh, nothing to it. Though I've gotta say, you surprised me a little with your moves there... Thanks for the backup. How'd it feel?

Aether: Barely broke a sweat.

Patrick: We fight monsters most of the time.

Kiana: We've been fighting monsters for a really long time now.

Mei: And we protect everyone.

Bronya: The Bronya and Seele were once separated till we reunited after the Bronya was with friends.

Seele: I may look innocent but it doesn't mean I don't know how to fight.

Paimon: Now that you mention it, how is it the hilichurls ended up here? These creatures don't seem like the type to set up camp so close to cities like this.

Amber: Exactly, it's more normal for them to be much further out in the wilderness. But because the dragon — Stormterror — has been around a lot more recently, our orchards have been destroyed and the local market has been affected as well. When the storms hit, we usually end up with at least a few injuries, so the Knights of Favonius have been tied up doing the best they can to defend the area.

Paimon: So these annoying creatures have been getting closer and closer to the city?

Amber: Exactly. That said, clearing this camp helped make the area a little bit safer. Come with me! A responsible knight must make sure to see you to the city safely.

As we walked over the stone bridge, Kiana decided to ask me something random.

Kiana: Since I'm in the same dress as Kallen, do you think everyone might think that we're twin sisters?

Patrick: Most likely yes. You are both Kaslanas and are both with white colors.

As we walked through the gate, the next cutscene happened.

Patrick in mind: So this is Mondstadt. After all the cities and towns and villages I've been to in other worlds, this one is most interesting.

Amber: Let me officially introduce the city of wind, dandelions, and freedom — Travelers under the protection of the Knights of Favonius — Welcome to Mondstadt!

The girls were delighted by the sights of Mondstadt. Kiana twirled around like she fitted in.

Kiana in mind: This feels like being back in the simulation of Kallen's time! But now I'm in a real place where it feels like being in the past and a fantasy storybook!

Paimon: Finally, no more having to camp outdoors! But... the city folk don't look too cheery.

Amber: Everyone's been put out of place by Stormterror recently. But everything will turn out fine as long as Jean's with us!

Everyone: Jean?

Amber: Acting Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius — Jean, Defender of Mondstadt. With Jean on our side, surely even the vicious Stormterror will be no match for us.

Aether in mind: Sounds like someone pretty impressive...

Amber: Before I take you guys to the Knights of Favonius headquarters, I have a present for you, travelers. It's a reward for helping me clear out that hilichurl camp.

Paimon: He-Hey! Why doesn't Paimon get a reward?

Amber: Ahh... Because this reward is useless to you, Paimon.

Amber: But I'll treat you to a traditional Mondstadt delicacy — Sticky Honey Roast.

Paimon: Sticky Honey Roast!

Kiana: I'm up for Sticky Honey Roast too!

Amber: Come with me, we'll head to the city's ahh... high ground.

As we started up to the higher ground, the girls and I took in more of the sights of Mondstadt.

Amber: This used to be a bustling street... But with so many Stormterror attacks recently, the usual crowds are nowhere to be seen. Except for the local tavern near the city wall over there. They haven't been affected. If anything, their business is better than ever.

Kiana: I bet Auntie Himeko would want to go there for all the booze.

Amber: Auntie?

Kiana: Not really. She's just my old teacher at this academy the girls, Patrick, and I go to. I just like calling her Auntie while Auntie Theresa is my real Aunt.

We got to where the giant statue was where Amber could give us our presents.

Amber: So, the present I want to give you is... A Wind Glider! Outriders use them to ride the wind, and the people of Mondstadt love using them too. I brought you all here to give it to you so you can experience it right away!

Paimon: Oh, you're really excited about these wind gliders, huh!

Amber: Well that's because the wind is the heart and soul of Mondstadt. Alrighty then, enough talk! Let's give it a whirl. It's easy to use, but you still need to pay attention to my instructions.

We each tried our Wind Gliders and glided town to the water fountain. That's when the next cutscene happens.
