Fun At The Carnival

"I look ridiculous."

"Ya look pretty."

"Last time I showed this much skin I was being born!"

Aria was in the process of curling her hair in the bathroom while Jane stared at her reflection in the mirror. Jane kept spinning around in the full length mirror in the bedroom. The forever teen had been complaining since she put the tight sweetheart lined lime green dress that fell mid-thigh, her blonde hair pinned into a bun and her bangs falling into her face, her transparent pixie wings moved with her every move, the bedroom lights causing the little swirls of glitter to twinkle.

"Who am I again?" Jane questioned.

"Tinkerbell," Aria replied as she unplugged the curler and walked into the bedroom to finish getting ready, "she's a pixie."

Jane examined her reflection again, "I feel as if Demetri or Felix will say something."

Aria plopped down on the bed her pleated teal poodle skirt spreading around her. She slipped on her black and white saddle shoes. "If they do pop 'em in the chops."

"Pop what?"

Aria giggled as she laced her shoes, "Hit 'em."

Jane nodded and put on her matching green flats that jingled ever so softly with each movement. "I might do that."

Aria crossed the room to stand in front of the mirror, watching as she tied ebony black chiffon scarf around her neck. She looked at her reflection and smiled. She looked like she walked right out of the 1950s.

"Ready?"

"Always," replied Jane as she stood. Both girls made their way out of the bedroom, Aria leading the way.

As they neared the stairs, the mortal could hear everyone that waited for them. Aria practically ran down the stairs as everyone's excitement fueled her own. Felix was walking by the staircase in his inflatable T-Rex costume, causing the honey blonde to giggle.

"Happy Halloween Dino," Aria called wrapping her arms around the man she now considered an older brother.

"Rawr," Felix replied with a chuckle. He offered an arm, escorting her to the living room to the others waiting.

Everyone stood or sat around the room. Carlisle managed to get the night off with the help of the immortal empath, Jasper. The kind vampire and his wife sat on the couch. Esme was curled into his side, the immortal couple were dressed as a murderous doctor and nurse, their scrubs splattered in blood. Alice, who stood in the arms of her husband, wore a woodland sprite outfit, a floral crown sat on her head and the iridescent wings on her back casted a hue of colors with each little movement the pixie vampire made. The only other texan in the house had stuck to his roots and dressed as a cowboy, boots and all.

The runaway model like vampire sat on the couch with her muscle bound mate. Rosalie had herself wrapped in a fur shawl, her scarlet red dress hugged her curves and a huge slit ran up her right leg to her mid-thigh, her golden curls hidden under a red wig. Emmett decided to not be the Roger Rabbit to his wife's Jessica. Instead he wore one of those inflatable human captured by an alien costumes, causing Aria to smile.

The Volturi's all sat by the piano. Demetri smiled at Aria, pulling her in for a side hug once she was close enough. He had dressed himself in a gold pinstriped three piece suit, a golden tie fastened around his neck, and midnight black fedora. His frosted sandy hair was slicked back under his hat.

"Are ya a lady killer Demi?"

The tracker chuckled and replied, "A gangster from the 20's."

Aria nodded and threw her arms around Marcus. Marcus had dressed himself in a toga picta that was the deepest shade of purple Aria had ever witnessed. The toga was held together by clasps of gold, a shawl wrapped around his shoulders had gold stitching on the ends, and brown sandals hugged the kings feet.

Aria inspected the toga closure only to nearly faint from shock. "This is a real Roman toga picta," she whispered, mostly to herself.

Marcus smiled, "I was the great emperor Marcus Aurelius."

Marcus expected the human, he viewed as a granddaughter, to faint from the bombshell he had dropped on her. He waited ready to catch her but instead the blue cord, that represented the trust they had in each other shined brighter as a violet cord intertwined with it, showing she respected him more now than before.

Aria's eyes never left Marcus her smile grew wider by the second. "You were one of the Five greatest Roman emperors of all time! I learned so much about your reign! You-You are one of my favorite rulers other than Queen Elizabeth the First!" gushed the mortal, her voice growing louder as her excitement penetrated everyone around the room.

"It seems like you have an admirer brother," teased the blonde king.

Aria's eyes examined Caius who had dressed himself as Lestat de Lioncourt. He had the royal blue outfit and everything, even his hair was styled the same way as the insane fictional vampire.

"Well it's not everyday ya meet a man ya've written papers on," defended the human.

"Caius, let her have her moment," Aro spoke.

Aro had dressed himself as the king of all vampires, Count Dracula. He smiled revealing fake fangs on his canines. His vibrant red eyes didn't help and Aria repressed a shiver again. Power and confidence emitted from him which crashed over her in waves, she wanted to tone it down but every time she tried using her gift on him he would quickly shut her out, as if he was afraid she would extract something from him.

A cool hand rested on Aria's shoulder. A soothing feeling settled over her as the familiar scent peppermint and chamomile invaded her senses. She turned to see the boy that had captured her heart that was dressed as a greaser from the 50's.

"How did-"

"-Alice told me," answered Alec to the unasked question his one and only was about to ask.

"Come on everyone," Emmett whined, "I want to go to the carnival!"

Everyone exited the house, Edward and Bella would meet them in Seattle after Seth and Renesmee were done trick or treating.

Aria rode with Alec, Marcus and Felix. She quickly discovered that Felix had a soft spot for The Temptations once My Girl came on giving her someone to sing with. From there on out the duo gave Alec and Marcus a concert that they didn't ask for. The joyful ride was short lived for soon they reached Seattle. Demetri stood in a parking spot next to the Bentley he drove here, moving once Felix arrived claiming the spot. They walked between the cars, Alec holding Aria's hand as she dragged him behind her. Alec could've stopped her from pulling him, since he was a lot stronger that her, but he liked seeing her excited.

As promised Edward, Bella, Renesmee, and the Black pack were there. Edward was dressed as his favorite composer Beethoven, Nessie was dressing as little red hiding hood and Jacob was dressed as the big bad wolf. Leah was Pocahontas and her baby brother was dressed as Scorpion from Mortal Kombat. Bella had forgotten it was Halloween until her daughter reminded her, so she simply said she's a  homicidal maniac, since they look like everyone else. Alice handed out the wrist bands to everyone and off they went scattering once they got past the gate.

Aria was about to enter when she overheard to parents talking about how they could afford the wrist bands but not the games. They had three small children that chatted amongst themselves oblivious to their parents dilemma. Aria walked over to the ticket counter and purchased five wrist bands. After receiving them she walked over to the couple and tapped the woman on the shoulder.

The woman turned around and noticed the short blonde.

Aria smiled her sweetest smile, "Hi, I'm sorry to bother y'all but I'm here with a group of friends, and five of them decided to flake on us. Something about a party and babysittin'. I was wondering if y'all were in need of some wrist bands?"

The couple looked at each other and to their children. "How much do you want for them?" the man asked.

"I don't want anythin' sir," Aria replied, "I just don't want these goin' to waste."

The couple where hesitant but Aria did a little manipulation and they accepted them, thanking her and went on their way. Alec watched on as Aria made her way back into the gates and into his arms.

"That was sweet," Alec praised causing Aria to blush, "why did you do it?"

Aria shrugged, "Everyone deserves to be happy. I didn't want 'em to have to break their kids hearts."

"I swear you're an angel, Aria Whitlock."

"I'm not an angel," she said.

Alec smiled, he knew anytime he gave his girlfriend a compliment she would always play it down. It was one of the reasons he loved her. She was the light that chased away all of the darkness that surrounded him. She may not have been an angel in her eyes, but to him she was.

The couple bounced around from game to game. In the hour they had been there Aria had managed to hit every target in a shooting game winning a giant chicken that she gave to Alec, who creatively named it Mr. Cluckers. They wandered around until they found a water gun game and Alec managed to win a purple and green dragon for his beloved human. He watched as Aria's eyes light up as she hugged the stuffed animal and kissed Alec's cheek. They managed to find Marcus who was getting a rainbow painted on his face. The trio ran into Caius who was trying to understand the different candies in a goody bag that a child had given him after he won a little plush for her, which ultimately lead to Aria giving him a crash course in candy before taking the blue jolly rancher for herself.

Somehow Jane got stuck at the fun house in the tumbling wheel contraption and her brother  managed to save her. Demetri happened to help a little boy locate his mother and was rewarded with her phone number and a kiss on the cheek that left a black kiss print on his olive colored visage. Felix and Aro were busy posing with people who found their costumes to be amazing. They rode on the roller coasters and the spinning teacups, Aria learned not to let a vampire spin the wheel she nearly threw up thanks to Demetri and Felix.

The Cullens left earlier since Nessie wasn't feeling well. The Volturi's and the Whitlock wandered around until Aria found the strongman game that had giant octopuses as the reward.

"Step right up ladies and gentlemen," the man in charge spoke in a loud booming voice, "test your strength and win a prize."

Aria's eyes hardened, determination collected on her face as she handed Alec Pablo the Dragon. Alec held the plush as Aria stepped forward wrapping her little hands around the hammer after paying the man.

"Little Lady-" the man started.

"-I would like the red and blue octopus after I ring that bell please."

Aria lifted the hammer and nearly tumbled over from the weight. Note to self, she thought, start lifting weights. After getting a better grip on the handle, Aria hit the board sending the weight up. Her smile fell as the weight barely made it past the nice try bar. Her shoulders slumped for a second before she heard Caius snicker behind her and she grew angry and handed the man another five and tried again.

Same results.

"Maybe I can be of assistance?"

Aria looked over at Felix who was extracting his upper half from his costumes before moving forward. He handed the man five dollars and grabbed the hammer with ease.

"If I ring the bell my little sister here," Felix said, pointing at Aria who waved, "she gets the octopus she wants, correct?"

The man eyed Felix, noticing his muscles that weren't covered by his muscle shirt. "Yeah sure."

Felix nodded, "Aria step back please."

Caius gently pulled her back giving the favored guard more than enough room. Felix's brown contacts grew darker as he lifted the hammer above his head. Aria's eyes grew wide and she stepped closer to Caius. Caius rubbed her arm softly.

"Don't worry."

Felix brought the hammer back down sending the weight sky rocketing through the air and obliterated the base of the machine. The bell made a quick sound before it was knocked off its holding and fell to the ground with a dent in it. The owner of the game stood mouth wide open shocked. Felix dropped the hammer and made his way to the awestruck owner.

"I'll take that red and blue octopus now."

The owner scrambled getting the prize and handing it to Felix. He feared what he would do to him if he could destroy he machine like that.

Felix thanked the man and handed the toy to Aria. Aria pulled out a wad of cash and put it in the mans hand.

"Sorry 'bout your game."

They walked away from the ruins until Caius found a fright house and dragged everyone to it.

"Only two at a time," the teen with bad acne said.

They each paired off. Each pair then entered the house after they saw the others reappear.

It was Alec and Aria's turn. They wandered through the house cracking jokes and answering the employees causing them to be flustered since they didn't have something to say to their costumers uncharacteristic answers. It was all fun in games until the pair got separated from each other in the thick fog. Aria wandered around trying to locate her boyfriend when a hand grabbed hers.

Relieved she turned expecting to see her loving boyfriend but instead she saw the devil himself. A wicked smile spread across his face, causing his dimples to show. His once nicely trimmed dark brown hair was now long and shaggy. He grew since the last time she had seen him and he wasn't wearing the orange jumpsuit or shackles she saw him be carried away in. He put on more muscle that made him as intimidating as Felix. A anger burned in his piercing blue eyes that she once adored, a need for revenge shined as bright the sun within his eyes. He tightened his grip on her wrist.

"Hello darlin' it's been a long time."

The scars on Aria's arms and chest seared as if they were new again. The flashbacks of her fathers body in the entryway, his blood pooling around him soaking into the Turkish ivory and gold rug. Her psychotic ex standing at the door with a smoking barrel of a shot gun pointing at miracle working spinal surgeon of Houston. She remembered trying to fight as her body lost its blood. Tears formed in her brown eyes and streamed down her face. Her body reacted kicking him in where the sun never shined and she ran. She ran through the emergency exit crashing into a cold hard body. Caius turned around and noticed the human that was on the ground. Alec peered from around the king and noticed his mate looking back at the house before scrambling to her feet and ran from them.

"Arrie?" Alec called as he gave chase. He caught up with her near the cars.

"Baby-" started the guard.

Aria sobbed her words forcing themselves out of her mouth when she gasped for air, "He's here."

Alec was puzzled, "Who honeybee?"

Aria looked up at her boyfriend. All he saw was terror and agony, the pleasant warmth that gave her eyes the sparkle he loved now gone. She wasn't happy and an angel right now. She was terrified of something.

"Elijah."
