FAMILY DINNERS. a blessing and a curse. it was a good time to reunite with your family, whilst eating food- a perfect combination. but not when you just found out that a member of your family cheated on her boyfriend with your boyfriend.

if it wasn't for that, honey would be more okay about going to this dinner- as it was for her birthday after all.

surprisingly, even though she had received that text from bethany that morning, the dinner wasn't currently going as bad as honey had expected. she had gotten some early happy birthday celebrations from some of her family members that could not attend the birthday party her family had hosted for the friday- therefore them giving her the birthday presents now.

the main reason why the dinner was going shockingly well was because of liliana having sat herself next to bethany whilst they awaited for food, to which honey saw her older sister display her lack of love she had for bethany,

with a bunch of quiet, but effective threats.

jonah, who was sat next to honey, couldn't hold back a smile of pride, however honey had no trouble hiding it as she watched bethany fidget in her seat, avoiding liliana's gaze. after the text from bethany that morning, even though jonah was invited to the family meal, after him and liliana having dated for multiple years now- liliana insisted he came to the birthday meal now,

'just so he could see her tumble down the stairs.' those were liliana's exact words.

"-say honey querida." honey's grandmother, sofia, spoke up, immediately catching the attention of honey as well as getting a smile from the blonde girl from her choice of nickname. honey was always called darling but her grandmother in spanish, and somehow- whenever she was called that by her grandmother, it would boost her mood instantly.

"yeah abuela?" honey leaned forward, careful not to place her elbows on the table, knowing if she did, her mother or even her grandmother would warn her that it was rude to do so.

"where's your boyfriend? i forgotten his name." jonah chuckled beside honey, earning himself a small jab to the waist, resulting in him to jolt away from honey beside him. she didn't know why she pinched him, considering sofia did not need to know his name as he was so irrelevant to honey now.

throwing a quiet glance to where liliana was sitting with bethany, honey watched as bethany's lip quickly turned into a smirk, before disappearing almost instantly.

did she just smirk at me? honey thought.

narrowing her eyes at bethany, knowing her cousin was probably doing just to get a rise out of honey, the blonde turned away, giving her grandmother her full attention once again. "oh no abuela i don't ha-"

"-adam dear! glad you could make it."

honey's heart sank. what the fuck was he doing here? he has some fucking nerve to be here. honey thought to herself.

she didn't want to give the satisfaction of getting her wound up over his appearance, instead honey kept her eye on her grandmother, a small smile appearing on her face as she watched sofia narrow her eyes briefly, looking him up and down as he strolled through the restaurant.

"honey, aren't you going to say hello?" her auntie, olivia, who was the mother of bethany chimed in, her giving honey a look of surprise at the lack of attention she was giving, what they thought was still her boyfriend.

honey hadn't told any of her family members, beside liliana obviously, that her and and adam had broke up, as she couldn't bring to tell her family the reason why. if she told her mother that bethany was the reason, alongside adam being a cheating dickhead,

well neither of them would be alive.

honey and liliana got their 'murder tendencies' and hot headedness from their mother. being brought up with spanish blood, made sure that their mother could hold her own, and stand her ground when it came to her family.

that was the one thing all of the family knew, you didn't mess with honey and liliana's mother, mariana.

and you didn't mess with her children also.

finally glancing up to adam, she saw him give her a shocked expression- almost like he was shocked to see her here. it is my birthday meal you asshole, of course I'm here. honey said to herself, careful not to think out loud as that would result in a lot of explaining to be done. and honey couldn't guarantee she wouldn't cry.

but she couldn't give bethany and adam the satisfaction of seeing her cry.

out of the corner of her eye, honey saw jonah typing away to someone on his phone. at first she thought it was to liliana sat across from them, but when she looked at her sister, she saw the blonde sat looking up to adam, giving him the darkest stare.

if looks could kill, adam would be six foot under by now.

the spare seat, which was actually liliana's when she finally decided to stop terrorising their cousin was free. to which all of honey's family thought that there was adam was going to sit. but a few small gasps from the table told the family that their predictions were wrong.

as adam sat himself next to bethany, sitting himself extremely close to bethany.

"fucking dick." liliana said, not bothering to be quiet about it, which caused both honey and jonah to choke briefly on their drinks they were drinking. sure they were expecting it from liliana, but at the same time they weren't expecting it so soon, and loud at the same time.

it was silent for a moment, almost like no one knew what to say, incase if they did- chaos would erupt.

but then there was conversation, with jonah and sofia. both liliana and honey shared a look of slight surprise, but also shock, as they watched liliana's boyfriend engage in what looked like a intense, but also quiet conversation.

the one thing that honey could never relate to when it came to her relationship with adam and liliana's relationship with jonah- was that jonah actually got along with honey's family. thus it being the reason why he was always immediately invited to every single family event that was ever hosted.

adam? not so much, sometimes it seemed like he was only forced to come along, because he was honey's boyfriend. it was mainly the reason of him never actually engaging himself in conversations with her family.

and having good relationship and talking to honey's family, was a huge thing.

if they didn't like you? oh you were fucked.

"oh finally this meal is getting interesting."

"liliana we can't hide out in here all night." honey said to her older sister. the two blondes were stood in the bathroom of the restaurant after liliana had pulled honey out of main dining area of the restaurant. around twenty minutes had passed since adam had made his appearance at the restaurant, and honey was surprised liliana had waited this long to bring honey into the bathroom to regroup their emotions.

"we will if you want me to not kill asshole adam and bitch bethany out there." liliana said, her venomous words being heard clearly by her sister as she walked out of the bathroom stall, washing her hands. "in fact i wasn't even thinking of us hiding honey- you should want to kill them as much as i do."

"oh i do. like why does he think he has the audacity to turn up here to my fucking birthday meal? he cheated on me- with bitch ass bethany- and has the balls to just walk in here, all smug looking and walk over to bethany." liliana watched as honey ranted on, her hands clenching and unclenching as she spoke. a smile unconsciously appeared on her face whilst watching her sister, knowing it was good that honey was letting out all of this built up frustration that has accumulated over the last twenty-four hours.

after a minute or two of full on ranting, honey took a deep breath.

"feel better?" liliana asked, her eyebrow raising as she watched the anger slowly sizzle itself down from honey's eyes. "-oh honey keep that anger. i think you should lash out on adam and that bitch."

honey nodded her head in agreement, the two sisters exchanging high fives. "we are doing this."

"give them everything you've got. because i heard you were quite tame yesterday." liliana teased, earning a scoff and a shove from her younger sister.

"i was going to channel my inner you, but i stopped myself."

"well don't stop yourself from doing it now." liliana said, hyping her sister up with compliments about how she was a 'bad bitch' and that 'she needed to put those two dickheads in their place for even thinking that what they did was acceptable.'

"you're just hyping me up so you can finally get the family drama you've always wanted." honey joked, pulling open the bathroom door, bringing the two sisters back into the atmosphere that surrounded the dining area of the restaurant. the faint sounds of groups of people talking were faintly heard as the duo brought themselves further back into the restaurant.

"maybe. but if you don't do it now, the decision to push them down the stairs is still any option. make their death look like an accident." liliana said, patting her sisters shoulder. liliana was about to make another comment, when honey stopped dead in her tracks, resulting in the older matthews sibling to walk into honey. "okay what the fuck hon-"

that was when liliana saw it too.

more like who she saw.

honey was snapped out of her trance when she saw her grandmother turn around to the two girls who were frozen in place, a bright smile on her face.

"honey you didn't tell me you invited corbyn!"
