Chapter 9

Jungkook stares into the pearly sparkles glistening in the sky as he ponders over his behaviour over the past few days, wondering just what has gotten into him. He turns his head and looks over at the blue-haired boy who seems to be so lost in the stars that he doesn't even notice the other looking at him.

Jungkook can't understand himself right now. What is he doing here? Why does he feel so weird around this new boy? Jungkook feels like he's lost in his own mind, wondering around helplessly in search of answers. He knows he needs to stop acting this way, acting so kind and gentle around the boy. He isn't like this with anyone, he is always cruel and heartless. If people see him behaving like this around the blue-head, they might take it the wrong way.

Jungkook shudders at the possibility of people thinking he's gay. Jeon Jungkook is NOT gay. In fact, he despises the whole idea of homosexuality.

He wasn't always like this though. He remembers the time he actually used to wholeheartedly support homosexual people.

But things change.

Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse.

Jungkook feels irritated with himself for being so careless. He needs to stop whatever it is that he is doing before it turns into something horrible.

"Please! HELP," the little boy wails, screaming at the top of his lungs as the harsh rain pelts down onto his tiny figure.

He wiggles around, trying to free himself from the rope but it is no use. The tight restriction digs at his arms as he wriggles around, scraping against the boy's soft milky flesh causing a shade of scarlet to trickle down his arms.

P-please," Jungkook whispers. "Someone h-help."

But his voice goes unheard as the monstrous thunder roars through the sky.

Jungkook stands up abruptly, startling the smaller boy in the process.

"I'm leaving." He states before walking off.

Taehyung furrows his eyebrows in confusion before running after the boy. "W-wait!"

Jungkook doesn't wait, he just keeps striding with his long legs. "J-Jungkook, wait!"

The ravenette finally pauses allowing the younger boy to catch up to him. "Where are you going?" Taehyung asks breathlessly.

Jungkook fixes his cold eyes onto the blue-haired boy, a dark flare running across his irises. "Back to the dorm."

Taehyung splutters, "w-what?! B-but the group hasn't come yet."

Jungkook shrugs, "Not my problem," he says with a shrug before continuing to walk.

Taehyung feels helpless and utterly confused as he watches the ravenette walk off. He can't leave with him, not without his friends. So was he to stay here by himself? In this dark scary place full of murderers and rapist.

Taehyung shivers at his thoughts before running up to Jungkook. He grabs onto the boy's sleeve in desperation, causing the ravenette to once again stop in his tracks.

"What?" Jungkook growls, frustration dripping in his words.

Taehyung cowers slightly, feeling a tinge of fear hit him. "I-I just- please don't go- I- um- it's d-dark a-and there's ra-"

Jungkook stares dead straight into the smaller boy's eyes causing the boy to stop his rambling. "Does it look like I care?" He asks, tone low and firm.

And with that, he's off again, not even glimpsing back at the trembling boy.

Taehyung stares at the ravenette's back as he disappears into the darkness.

One minute he's nice, and the next minute he's cruel.

Taehyung just can't seem to figure out who Jeon Jungkook truly is.

~

Taehyung has never felt so awkward in his life. It is obvious that Jungkook is ignoring him because ever since Taehyung stepped back into their room after coming back from star gazing, Jungkook hadn't even spared a glance towards his direction. The ravenette just kept staring at his phone as Taehyung sneakily crept back into the room.

The blue-haired boy plops onto his bed, feeling exasperated. He can't understand why Jungkook acts so strange sometimes, one minute he's nice and the next minute he's yelling at him and calling him names. It never seems make sense.

He hears the said boy turn his phone off and then wriggle under his sheets, drifting off into deep slumber mere minutes after.

Taehyung sighs, tossing around and waiting for sleep to overcome him as well.

It never does.

~

Taehyung walks along the crowded halls with obvious bags under his eyes. Dread rakes through his body as his exhausted mind recalls what class he has. Bible studies.

With a small groan of displeasure, the boy makes his way into class and takes a seat. He sinks into the plastic chair, craving the sleep that didn't visit him the night prior.

"Right everyone," the chirpy voice of the teacher rings through the air as she practically skips into the class.

"Today we will be analysing verses from the bible and what they mean, please open up you guidance books to the page we left off in."

"And above all things have fervent, for love will cover a multitude of sins."

Taehyung's sleepy mind stares intently at the phrase. Love will cover a sin? Taehyung hesitantly raises his hand, the desire for answers overpowering his need to lay low.

Ms Song smiles over at him, "yes, dear?"

Taehyung looks at her hesitantly, "I-If the act of loving will cleanse a sin, then how is loving the same gender considered a sin?"

The bright smile on the teacher's face falters for a mere second before coming back in full force. "Well you see, dear," she says while approaching Taehyung. "Loving the same gender is not true love, it's mere lust. And lust is a bigger sin than any, so that is why God does not accept homosexuality."

Taehyung nods, casting his gaze down to meet the polished timbre of his desk.

Maybe she is right. Taehyung has never really loved another man, yet he definitely has felt undeniable attraction towards them.

The teacher continues on with the lesson and Taehyung resigns to doodling on the side of his book.

"Okay class, make sure you are working on the project with your partners. I will be checking to see how much progress you've made tomorrow and if I don't see a lot, I will give you afterschool bathroom duty."

A few groans are heard as the teacher finishes speaking. Taehyung hesitantly looks over to the back of the room where Jungkook normally sits and the two boys awkwardly make eye contact. Taehyung looks away immediately, feeling somewhat shy after meeting the ravenette's gaze.

~

Taehyung tiredly slumps his bag down next to his bed and heads straight to the shower. The boy lets the steaming water melt away the tenseness in his shoulders and relaxes with the beat of the water hitting the floor.

After his shower, he feels relieved. He puts on a pair of loose pyjama shorts along with a white oversized tee.

Taehyung exits the bathroom and just as he does, Jungkook pushes past him and enters the said bathroom, not even bothering to acknowledge his presence.

Taehyung lets out a heavy sigh before grabbing out his computer and staring at the screen.

Homosexuality. The bright words displayed in Ariel font mocks his very being as it lays there on the lifeless screen.

He doesn't know what to do for the project and it is frustrating because he needed to show some progress had been made. Taehyung thinks about all the things he could write about but everything just flies over his head.

He is still thinking when Jungkook comes out of the shower, wearing a pair of grey sweatpants. He looks up at him but quickly averts his gaze as quickly as possible when noticing that the boy is shirtless, however, a small rosy hue still manages to paint across his cheeks.

Jungkook strides over to his own bed before plopping down carelessly. The boy grabs out his phone and casually scrolls through it, not bothering to even spare a glance at his roommate.

Taehyung stares at his blank computer screen and then back at Jungkook. He bites his lip in contemplation before reluctantly making a decision.

"J-Jungkook?" He calls out almost inaudibly. The ravenette gives no response for a few seconds, making Taehyung think that he had not heard him, but then the boy looks slightly above his phone and over at Taehyung.

Taehyung averts his eyes onto his lap, fidgeting with his fingers as he musters up the courage to speak. "can we w-work on the project now?"

Jungkook stares at the nervous blue-head for a second, his eyes void of any emotion.

"Yeah," he finally says before gesturing for Taehyung to bring over the computer. Taehyung lets out a small breath of relief before walking over towards the shirtless boy. He tries not to ogle over his hard abs because he knew that if he is caught staring, he might be murdered.

Taehyung places the computer on Jungkook's bed before hesitantly sitting down on the very edge.

"I'm not exactly sure what we are supposed to do for it," Taehyung admits while playing with his fingers.

"Well first, start off by explaining what homosexuality is," Jungkook states in monotone as if stating the blatantly obvious. Taehyung nods before grabbing his computer and typing away.

"Is this g-good?" He asks while sliding his computer closer to the ravenette. Jungkook reads through the paragraph, eyes squinting ever so lightly as he takes in the words.

homosexuality/ˌhɒmə(ʊ)ˌsɛkʃʊəˈalɪti,ˌhəʊmə(ʊ)ˌsɛkʃʊˈalɪti

The sinful act of loving another person of the same gender. It is considered an outright disgrace to God and the disgusting deed should be punished if ever witnessed. People who are homosexuals tend to be mentally ill and should be treated immediately. Some treatment for the disease can be conversion therapy, which is accessible in many churches all across the world.

Homosexuality is considered a disease, however, scientists have still not figured out the cause of such chronic illness.

Jungkook looks up at Taehyung after reading, his firm gaze meeting the somewhat anxious boy. The ravenette stares dead straight into the smaller boy's eyes, ceasing his heart from beating from the mere eye contact. Jungkook doesn't even drop the burning intensity of the gaze as he articulates  a single word response in his luscious low tone, "perfect."

Taehyung feels his frozen heartbeat eradicate and start to beat ferociously as blood rushes to his cheeks. Something is the way the ravenette had said the word made it seem as if he was implying something else. As if implying that Taehyung had just perfectly described himself. Taehyung feels like he understands Jungkook a smidge more now. He understands that no matter how close they get, Jungkook's underlying hatred for who he truly is will always overbear any sort of relationship they form. Jungkook will always hate Kim Taehyung. And Kim Taehyung couldn't feel anything but helpless because he couldn't change who he was. He would never be able to stop Jungkook from hating him. He will never be able to stop everyone in this school for hating who he truly is.

But why does he even care? He knew this school was going to be a shithole for him from the second he stepped in so why does he care about what people think?

Taehyung glances over at the shirtless Jungkook and a bright blush runs across his already reddened cheeks.

And then it clicks, he understands why he cares so much. But all he can think is,

Oh no.

~

Taehyung makes his way over to his own bed, faking a yawn and jumping under the covers. "I think I might sleep now," he mutters.

Jungkook stares at the boy's back, mind whirling with thoughts he couldn't comprehend.

Taehyung is a homosexual, Jungkook could tell, but that's not what he is thinking about.

His rosy lips.

The hue of red that always rests on his soft face.

The way his small frame drowns in his big oversized tee's.

Why was Jungkook thinking of this instead?

Frustration floods through the boy's body and he hastily leans over his bedside table to grab a cigarette. With frantic movements, he lights up the cigarette and takes a long drag, relieving in the way the cloud of toxic smoke calms his anxious thoughts.

He feels the pain seep away. He feels the fear exit him. He feels his thoughts settle.

But the small image of the tiny boy with small pouty lips and rosy flushed cheeks just doesn't seem to escape his mind.
