Chapter 30
A/N: Uhhh, double update? Yeah, I'm just as surprised as you. Anyways, make you have read the other chapter before you read this one ❤️
-
The week had passed, surprisingly smoothly, and now it is a lovely Saturday morning. The birds are chirping, the sun is shining and Jungkook is whining like a little bitch.
"Taehyungggg, c'monnnn!"
The blue-head turns in his chair and glares at the ravenette. "Be. Quiet." He threatens, although he looks like a puppy threatening a grizzly bear.
"Stop being so boringgg!" Jungkook continues to whine.
Taehyung huffs and turns back to his book, deciding that ignoring the ravenette completely would be the best option. You see, Taehyung is a very studious student. He studies hard and earns good grades so that he can get somewhere in life. So that he can get away. So now that final exams are nearing, he's been studying his butt off.
"Bambi, you've been studying since 3 am, please, take a break," Jungkook begs, mainly cause he's worried about the boy but also because he's bored and wants the blue-heads attention.
"Jungkook, exams are in a few weeks. We end the first semester and graduate in a few weeks!" He exclaims. (In Helville high, the seniors only attend for a semester. They complete their final exams and then they wait to see if they got into college.)
"So no, I will not take a break."
Jungkook sighs, "fine," he groans before going to his own mini desk and opening up his chemistry book. Jungkook is intelligent. Yeah, he may not seem like the brightest cookie from the outside but the boy knew his stuff. He just didn't show it.
Soon, both of them buried themselves into their books. Another hour or so passed and Taehyung was content with the silence but he couldn't deny the stress he felt upon hours of studying.
He stretches his body across the chair which garners Jungkook's attention. "Let's do something!" The ravenette says excitedly when seeing the smaller's attention finally on him. Taehyung groans. "Fine. But only for a few-"
"Let's sneak out."
"What?!" Taehyung exclaims, looking over at the boy as if he's gone crazy. "Have you gone crazy?"
"Crazy for you, my love," Jungkook replies jokingly, wiggling his eyebrows.
Taehyung shakes his head with a smile. "Wow, maybe we should sneak out so you can see a doctor, it really does look like you've gone crazy?"
Jungkook laughs and then struts over to the smaller, making Taehyung take a step back defensively. Jungkook grabs Taehyung and then picks him up, causing the smaller boy to yelp out in surprise.
"Jungkook!" He whisper-yells. "Put me down!"
The ravenette shakes his head, "not until you agree to sneaking out."
Taehyung sighs but then looks away. "I-I can't."
"Oh come on, Tae. It will be great. I promise I'll take us somewhere super fun where we can get rid of all this exam stress, okay?"
Taehyung shakes his head. "N-no, it's not that, i-it's just. You know my dad's keeping tabs on me. If he see's me sneaking out with you..."he trails off.
Jungkook chuckles, "you think I didn't think of that. C'mon, Bambi. Have a little faith in me. I'm the all-mighty Jeon Jungkook-"
Taehyung whacks him on the chest causing the ravenette to laugh. "Okay okay. Yes, I have a plan."
Taehyung hesitates. "...Okay, fine. But it better be good."
Jungkook smiles widely. "Oh you know it," he says with a wink.
~
"Stupid, stupid, big muscled, damning, stupid donkey," Taehyung curses as his legs slightly slips off the edge.
Right now, Taehyung is climbing down the back of the dormitory building, which by the way, is like 30 feet high. This was Jungkook's oh-so-brilliant plan to sneak out. He would sneak out the front while Taehyung went through the window and climbed down the back.
Taehyung curses himself for ever agreeing with the boy. He looks down and winces, one little slip and he would plummet to his death. Haha, how fun.
Taehyung takes a deep breath and then slowly continues to climb down. After what seems like centuries, he reaches the floor. He drops to the ground and almost kisses it in relief but then stands up and composes himself.
The back of the dormitory building is a dodgy looking place. Despite the prestigious image of the school, this place here must have not been visited by humans for at least a century. It is rather filthy and ever so dark, despite the sun shining high in the sky. Taehyung is sure he can hear the patter of rats running around but he decides not to dwell on it. Instead, he takes a deep breath and sets off into a sprint.
He had burned the image of the small map Jungkook gave him into his mind and so he follows it, hoping that his memory is correct. He reaches the back gates of the school and then flies past it, hoping to god the guards wouldn't question him. They don't, luckily.
He continues running for what feels like miles until he finally comes to a halt at a bus stop. And just in time, it seems, because just as he arrives, so does the bus. He gets on and pays the driver before heading to the back.
He spots the familiar figure and takes the seat beside him. They both sit in silence for a few minutes and to the passing eye, they probably look really sketchy.
What with their all-black attire and face masks that cover nearly the entirety of their face; They are sure to raise a few suspicious eyebrows.
"I nearly died," Taehyung finally squeaks, breaking the silence. Jungkook bursts out into laughter, doubling over in his seat. "O-Oh my god, I-I can't believe that worked!"
Taehyung widens his eyes, "What do you mean you can't believe it! You knew what you were doing right?"
"Nope," Jungkook says, popping the p.
Taehyung's jaw drops," you mean I could have actually died?!"
Jungkook smiles," well you didn't and that's all that matters!" He says while swinging his arm around the younger.
Taehyung grumbles while pushing the boy away. "Stupid... where are we going anyways? It better be worth risking my life for."
Jungkook smiles again, his eyes crinkling with joy. "Just wait and see, Bambi."
~
It's two hours later when Taehyung is shaken awake. He mumbles incoherently as Jungkook pulls him up.
"C'mon, we got to get off now."
They both hop of the bus, thanking the driver as they leave. Taehyung rubs his eyes and looks around. His doe eyes widen upon taking in his surroundings.
They're in a nice little town. There are vintage-looking shops that huddle together to create this cosy atmosphere. Specks of flaky snow cover the streets and reflect the sparkling lights that hang over the wet roads. There's a small hill in the back of the town; Its wide expanse is thick with snow and it nurtures a few piney trees that dance with the touch of the cool wind.
It's a beautiful sight that leaves Taehyung's mouth hanging agape. "W-where are we?" He finally manages to ask once he's gathered himself from his initial astonishment.
Jungkook looks down at him. "We're about two hours away from school..."
"TWO HOURS?!" Taehyung exclaims. He opens his mouth to blabber on about how ridiculous this is but then stops when Jungkook continues to speak calmly.
"This town is called Songgap. I came across it when I first ran away from home."
Taehyung frowns at that, "why'd you run away from home?"
Jungkook smiles softly. "That's a story for another time. Now come on, let's have some fun, shall we?" He says while holding out his hand towards the boy.
Taehyung also smiles and grabs onto Jungkook's hand "y-yeah, okay."
~
"Move in more," Taehyung yells. Jungkook does so. "A-ah that's perfect! Now hit it!"
Jungkook presses the button and watches as the claw goes down. The metal grazes the stuffed toy, inching closer and closer. It picks it up and the two boy's hold their breath as the claw carries the small Pikachu toy across the machine. It edges closer and closer to the prize hole. It's so close and the boys sweat in anticipation. But then, just as it's about to drop the prize into the hole, it let's go, letting the toy land back into the pile of other toys.
Jungkook groans in frustration, "this shit is rigged."
Taehyung laughs, "yeah, that's like the whole point."
Jungkook scowls bitterly but then lights up when he sees the next game. A zombie 3-D video game. Taehyung follows his gaze to see what had made the boy so excited but once he spots it, he immediately backs away. "Nope. Nope. You did not just take me to an arcade that's two hours away just so we can play...that." He says while pointing at the game as if it's some sort of disease.
Jungkook ignores him and drags the boy to the game. He pushes in some coins and pulls the boy into the seat next to him. Taehyung tries to escape but Jungkook grabs his hand and stops him.
"C'mon, Tae. Pleaseee."
Jungkook gives him puppy dog eyes.
Jeon Jungkook, the supposed 'bad-boy' of Helville high, is giving him puppy dog eyes. Taehyung huffs and pouts slightly, "fine. But only this once"
Jungkook smiles and starts the game, grabbing the remote control gun and then positioning it in front of the screen. Taehyung reluctantly does the same but then screams when an ugly ass zombie jumps in front of the screen. Jungkook chuckles and continues to shoot the zombies, urging Taehyung to do the same thing. "Come on, just pick up the gun and shoot, like this." He says as he shoots a zombie in the head.
Taehyung picks up the gun, closes his eyes and shoots. He flinches whenever there's a loud noise and cowers every time the seats around him vibrate. He continues to aggressively press the trigger, not even bothering to open his eyes when suddenly the gun is gently pulled away from his grip. He feels Jungkook lean in and press a small kiss to his cheek. "The games over, Bambi."
Taehyung opens his eyes and looks around cautiously. He notices the blank screen and sighs in relief. Jungkook chuckles, "okay, 'm'sorry. I shouldn't have forced you to play. Come on, let's go do something else."
Taehyung nods thankfully and then hops out of the machine, not forgetting to glare at it. The machine buzzes with a weird gurgled noise and the blue-head jumps, quickly running over to the ravenette.
"Where to next?" Jungkook asks while looking around.
Taehyung looks around and lights up when he spots a small photo booth. "The photo booth! Let's go to the photo booth!"
Jungkook frowns, "I don't get the point of photo booths. I mean you can just take photo's on your ph-'
"Oh come on, Karen," Taehyung says as he drags the boy to the booth.
"Did you just call me Karen?!!" He exclaims, sounding offended.
"Yes."
"Well if I'm Karen then... then you're name is... Sharon!"
Taehyung smiles at him. "Karen and Sharon. I like that."
Jungkook grumbles as he's pulled into the photo booth. Both boy's stare at their face on the screen before Taehyung presses the start button.
They smile awkwardly and wait for the count down.
1...2...3
Jungkook leans in closer to the screen, "did it take the pic-'
Click
Taehyung bursts into laughter upon seeing the photo. It's a close up of Jungkook's nose.
"Damn, my nose be looking kinda sexy though," Jungkook says while tapping his nose, causing the smaller boy to laugh even more.
Click
"Oh no, we missed that one as well!" Taehyung says while leaning in to see the picture. In this, Jungkook is looking at Taehyung as Taehyung is doubled over in laughter.
Click
Taehyung startles back and then looks at the next photo, only to realise that this time, it's a photo of his nose!
"Damn, your nose be looking kinda sexy too!" Jungkook says. They both burst out into laughter and Taehyung nearly topples over. Jungkook grabs him by the waist and steadies him. "Hey, easy there." Taehyung blushes at that.
Click
Taehyung looks up at Jungkook and feels his breath slightly hitch at their close proximity. Without another word, their lips meet into a gentle kiss. Their lips mould into each other like pieces of a puzzle. They hold each other with urgency yet their touch is ever so gentle.
Click
They pull away after a few seconds, panting lightly. Taehyung blushes and rubs his nape bashfully, "come on, let's go see how the photo turned out."
"Y-Yeah," Jungkook lets out, sounding breathless.
Taehyung blushes even harder when he sees the photo. The last two specifically. It's of Jungkook holding him close and then them kissing.
It's strange to see them like that. From an outsider's perspective. When in the moment, they can't really put words to the feelings they feel. But seeing them two together, Taehyung can't help but think...
They look like boyfriends.
He smiles softly and then tucks the photo in his pocket. He turns around to see Jungkook looking down at his phone. "What next?'
Jungkook looks up and smiles. "Actually, this next thing I had in mind isn't in the arcade."
Taehyung tilts his head in confusion. "Then where?"
~
Waves crash against the frostbitten sand and leaves behind a frothy white trail. The sea breeze rushes past the two boys, slapping a tinge of saltiness against their lips. The sun sits on top of the crystal waters like a golden egg yolk. The duo stares in awe as the yolk slowly splits, unleashing its vibrant light that mingles with the angry clouds. It musters up a shy rosy hue that paints itself across the horizon and ever so gently rests above the blue waters. The sight is breathtaking. And breath taken they were.
Their eyes sparkle at the ethereal sight. Their minds that were filled with stress and worry relax with every breath of wind that brushes past them. Their bodies edge closer as the frosty air engulfs them.
And they feel so... so at peace.
A feeling of contentedness; Joy at it's gentlest state.
"This little town is full of surprises, isn't it," Taehyung finally speaks up, his voice just above a whisper.
Jungkook nods with a smile and then grabs onto the boy's hand. He walks them closer to the water, allowing for it to brush against the edge of their shoes. "It's why I came here when I ran away..." he trails off, getting lost in thought.
Taehyung looks over at him and watches as the wind messes up his hair, driving the ravenette locks around wildly. He doesn't ask the boy about his past but he sees that glint in his eyes. The one that says he's been hurt before. He's familiar with the glint.
He's seen it in his own eyes.
Taehyung sighs and then lightly splashes the water towards the ravenette. Jungkook quirks his brows and his eyes flash with a hint of playfulness.
Taehyung squeals and runs for his life as the boy chases him. "You're not getting away with that!" Jungkook exclaims.
Taehyung isn't a good runner but seeing Jungkook's playful eyes triggered his fight or flight instincts and boy is he taking flight. The two boys run around the beach like crazy teenage girls, laughing boisterously and shouting carelessly.
Eventually, they both tire out and plop down on the sand. Their bottoms get slightly wet from the damp sand but they don't mind. Right now, they are too happy to care about trivial things. They just sit there, huddled together, thriving off their boyish rebellion.
They stare off into the glowering horizon as they unconsciously trace patterns into the cold sand. They stop their drawing when their fingers collide and both look down to see why. And when they see it, their breaths get taken away.
Of course... of course they had unconsciously drawn a heart together. They had drawn two halves of a heart, both looking ever so different from each other; One was wobbly and untidy and the other was a nice precise curve but both halves joined together where their finger touched to form a heart. An imperfect heart.
The two boys look up at each other, small smiles etching their lips. They laugh, ever so softly, not exactly knowing why. Maybe they were laughing about how ridiculous this is; Here they are, hundreds of miles from where they're supposed to be, sitting in a lonely beach and drawing love hearts like some lovesick teenagers.
But then again maybe that's what they are; Just some lovesick teenagers.
They stare into each other's eyes in silence before Jungkook finally breaks it. "I think we should go now," he says quietly, feeling that if he speaks too loud, he would break the serene atmosphere. Taehyung hums, "yeah."
They stand and immediately their hands interlock. They walk away together, feeling warmth spread across their bodies despite the freezing weather. They walk, reminiscing over the day they spent; Thinking of all laughter, the kisses and the joy. They walk, so lost in thought. So lost in each other.
So lost that they don't see the large wave that crashes onto the shore, washing away their imperfect heart and leaving behind a gloomy trail of darkened sand as its remnants.

A/N: Just a filler chapter filled with Taekook cause I felt like this book needed that. (I hope this chapter wasn't too random).
I love you.
