Chapter 17

Kinda early update? Make sure you have read the chapter before this ❤️

-

Taehyung wakes up to the sound of rain pelting down against the ground. The cold atmosphere surrounds the room as thunderous grey clouds gather across the sky. Just another one of winter's tremendous storms brewing up to unleash itself throughout the day.

With a grunt, the blue-head sits up, his stick-like arms holding him up to support his injured body. The boy looks around at the empty room and frowns. Flashbacks of Jungkook bandaging up his wounds run through his mind but he questions the reality of the situation.

Did that really happen or did I have a dream?

He looks down at his throbbing legs and notices the white bandages wrapped around it.

So he really did help me?

A rosy blush paints over the pale bruised skin, adding another splash of colour next to the hues of purple. The boy shakes his head, mentally scolding himself for getting flustered. Jungkook's actions were simply out of concern for a roommate, nothing else.

Right?

Right. Taehyung shakes away his thoughts and lays back down on his bed. He is going to enjoy his Saturday in his bed, all by himself, with bruises covering his body.

Taehyung sighs. Life. is. great.

~

A mop of charcoal hair is seen storming through the hallways, a deadly expression hosting the ravenette's face.

The boy approaches his friend, Min Yoongi. The said blond, who is caught amidst conversation, startles when a firm hand grips onto him and pulls him away. He looks at Jungkook in confusion, wondering why his friend is dragging him away to a corner.

"Jungkook?"

The ravenette pierces his eyes into the blond and a wave of intimidation hits him with full force. The dark aura that surrounds the boy sends shivers down Yoongi's back, although he manages to keep a strong front.

"Why'd you hit Taehyung?" His voice is oddly calm but in the eeriest way possible.

Yoongi looks taken aback. "You mean that fag?"

Jungkook eyes flares with rage but his composure remains the same. "Yes." He states through slightly gritted teeth.

Yoongi shrugs while chuckling, "kid needed a fucking lesson."

Suddenly Jungkook grabs Yoongi by the collar and shoves him into the wall. Jungkook clenches his jaw as he darkly glares at the other male.

"What the fuck dude," Yoongi yells, trying to pull away from the other's firm grip.

"You beat him up for no reason?" Jungkook seethes, frightening the blond with his venomous tone.

"N-not no reason, he tried to stop me from beating this other kid."

"So you beat him up instead?" He asks while tightening his grip on the other's collar, slightly chocking him.

"Y-yeah, he got in the way of my business, that other kid needed to be beaten and he tried to stop me."

Jungkook frowns, "why did the other need to be beaten."

Yoongi struggles against the other's hold, "he- fuck- he s-saw too much."

Jungkook freezes. He slowly puts down the blond and stares at him intently. "You don't mean..."

"Yes-yeah, he fucking saw everything. I-I was just threatening him so he wouldn't go off and blabber but he tried to blackmail me. Had to teach him a lesson but that fag got in the way."

Jungkook runs a hand through his hair frustratedly while closing his eyes. "Yeah but, fuck, you shouldn't have beat him so hard."

Yoongi frowns, "when the fuck did you start caring about who I beat up."

Jungkook instantly tenses at the other's words, "It's nothing like that, i-it's just he's my roommate and all and it's annoying having him moaning about all the pain."

Yoongi squints his eyes, staring at Jungkook and trying to read his eyes before finally giving up. Those black charcoal irises are always so unreadable, never expressing any emotion other than anger.

"Well, anyway, the boy's taken care off but we need to be more careful now," the blond says after a while.

Jungkook nods, "yeah."

~

Jimin huffs, "Hyung that sneaky bitch really stood me up for our study date."

Namjoon rolls his eyes, "Jimin, he probably just overslept or something, do you really need to go into his room and make a riot."

"Is that even a question?"

Jin boredly looks up from his phone, looking at the blond-haired midget who is stomping towards the dorm. "Doesn't he room with that Jungkook kid, he might beat you up if you just march in there."

Jimin freezes for a second before continuing to stomp towards Taehyung's dorm, this time with more aggression in his steps. "He gave me the spare key to the room as a free invite."

"He gave you the key cause you begged for it," Hoseok states bluntly.

Jimin pouts, "Haters."

The group finally reach the dorm and Jimin pushes in the key card and barges in.

"YO SMURF ASS!" He screams.

Taehyung startles awake from his sleep and immediately screams.

Jimin also screams upon seeing Taehyung's injuries. "Tae, what the fuck happened!"

Taehyung winces at the loud volume of the boy's voice. "U-uh, I-I fell."

"Yeah, fell on my ass. Stop lying, tell us what happened."

The rest of the group come forward with worried expressions, eyeing the small boy up and down.

"Nothing h-happened guys. I really did fall."

"Off the empire state building? The fuck, how do you look like that from simply falling?" Hoseok speaks with furrowed eyebrows.

"Guys, please, I-I don-"

Jimin suddenly gasps, "wait, this isn't one of those goon's doings, is it?"

The hesitance on Taehyung's face answers it all.

Jimin's immediately burns in anger. "What the fuck! I will kill those punks," the boy says while marching towards the door.

Namjoon pulls the boy back, shaking his head. "Jimin, they will kill you."

"Yeah, but look at him, who do they think they are to hurt him like that."

Taehyung feels his heart warm at Jimin's words. "J-Jimin, i-it's really okay. I pissed him off at the wrong time so it was bound to happen."

Jimin sighs, "Tae, I warned you about them, stay away from them as much as possible, especially Jung-"

The door suddenly bursts opens to reveal the notorious ravenette.

Jimin quietens down and gulps. "U-uh, we'll talk about this later Tae, we'll get going now."

The group waves as they awkwardly shuffle pass a seemingly aggravated Jungkook.

The ravenette sighs and comes to sit on his bed. He pushes his hand through his hair and blankly stares at the floor.

Taehyung decides that he probably doesn't want to be disturbed so he quietly turns away and lays back down in his mattress.

~

Thunders explodes between the pouring clouds, crying out its ear-splitting screams and shaking the grounds down below. A bitter coldness clings onto the frosty atmosphere of the night, driving the buzzing people of the streets behind closed doors. Hellvile High rests in a quiet daze, the normally rowdy students now seemingly tucked away in the safety of their dorms, away from the storm.

Only one raven-head seems to be quivering under the ferocity of the storm. Rain pouring down his quivering body, the wind slapping his pale skin and the thunder screaming into his ears.

Lightning flashes vibrantly across the sky, adding an electronic blue to the grey spectrum.

The little boy pants, struggling against his tied wrist. Alongside the thunder, the ravenette can hear the mocking laughs of his classmates playing in his head, repeating itself like a broken record.

The small boy sniffles, dejectedly laying his head against the tree trunk he is tied to. He closes his eyes, losing hope, losing faith. The thunder still roars and the lighting still crackles across the expanse of pouring lands. At that moment, he finds himself not fearing the threats of mother nature.

Instead, he begs for more. For the lighting to wreak havoc and strike the measly tree he's tied to. To light the measly tree aflame and take his shivering body with it, maybe warming him in the process before engulfing him whole. Right now, he doesn't fear Death. He craves it.

Anything. Anything is better than this.

~

Taehyung jolts awake to the sound of heavy breathing. He turns around curiously only to widen his eyes in shock. Jungkook is on the floor, gasping for air as he claws his throat.

The blue-head leaps out of bed and runs to the other's side, crouching down to see what is wrong.

"J-Jungkook, w-what?!" He cries out, barely articulating his own words. Jungkook shakes him off, yelling in distress as he continues to claw at his throat, irritating the delicate skin.

Taehyung look at the hyperventilating boy, the way his whole body shakes and his breath escapes in pants as perspiration beads on his forehead.

A panic attack. Taehyung's good old friend.

The smaller boy looks around the room for any sort of distraction that could possibly help Jungkook and his eyes land on a small box of cigarettes.

He stares at the object for a second before shaking his head and rushing to his bedside table. He grabs out a pink lollipop and stares at it hesitantly. This will have to do.

He rushes back to the boy and crouches in front of him before hastily unwrapping the candy and holding it in front of Jungkook's mouth. The ravenette doesn't reject the offer so Taehyung slowly pushes it past his lips, allowing for the other to suckle on it.

The boy slowly eases his breathing and his hands drop to the side, his eyes remain closed but a gentle wave of calmness washes over him as the sweetness of the strawberry flavoured lollipop melts onto his tastebuds.

Taehyung worriedly stares at the boy and finally builds up the courage to speak again. "Jungkook?"

The other doesn't respond, prompting further worry into the smaller. He hesitantly reaches forwards and places his small hand on the other's shoulder. Jungkook doesn't flinch away so Taehyung takes this as a sign to continue.

"A-are you okay?" He asks meekly.

Suddenly, without warning, the ravenette pulls the blue-head onto his lap, making the smaller straddle him. The smaller boy yelps, not expecting the sudden movement. Jungkook grips onto his tiny frame and digs his face into the crevice of Taehyung's neck, breathing in his soft sweet scent. He feels himself calming down against the other.

"J-Jungkook?" Taehyung questions, concern and confusion rippling through his body.

Jungkook silences him by pushing his head into the crevice of his own neck. Taehyung blushes at the intimacy but brushes it aside, focusing on the other's confusing actions instead. Taehyung struggles as he tries to face the boy. He finally manages to push back against Jungkook's hand and faces him, a little frown etching across his features as he notices the boy's glazed eyes.

Jungkook can't help but gently smile seeing the other's adorable state. His hair is slightly tousled and his red lips are resting in that natural pout he always seems to wear while his eyebrows are furrowed in worry. Jungkook gulps and bites back the sudden urge to kiss him.

"What's wrong?" Taehyung asks softly, breaking Jungkook from his thoughts.

Thunder crashes around the school and Jungkook slightly tenses at the sound. He looks up at the boy sitting on his lap and stares into his sparkling doe eyes.

He lets out a small breath. "I'm afraid."

Taehyung furrows his eyebrows even further. "Of what?"

A spark of lightning crackles across the sky, brightening up the dim room with a hue of electric blue.

"Of storms," comes the timid reply, something rather unexpected from someone so strong and powerful like Jeon Jungkook.

It is surprising for the blue-head to hear.

Even the all-mighty lion is meek in front of its fears, cowering in submission at what some would see as a trivial thing. The world would find it laughable, how can such ferocious beast fear something of such unimportance?

But fear is subjective. The size of a scar doesn't depend on the length of the knife, but rather the force it was applied with.

Despite stereotypes, even a big scary lion needs some hands to cradle it in times of fear.  Taehyung knows this.

And so he smiles softly as he wraps his hands around Jungkook, bringing him into a tight embrace.

"It's okay, I'll protect you," says the tiny boy as he clings onto the other's much larger body.

And oddly enough, held between those dainty arms,

the lion truly does feel protected.

-

I really wanted to say this so Imma say it here. "The ravenette doesn't reject the offer so Taehyung slowly pushes it past his lips, allowing for the other to suckle on it." When I wrote that, it lowkey felt like Tae was breastfeeding Jungkook and i couldn't stop laughing at the thought.

Also, I love you guys, you're so precious to me, I seriously don't deserve you. Thank you for being the sweetest babies out there and making me smile. I. Love. You.

Me: Jungkook the big scary lion.
