Chapter 15
Evelyn POV
I know this is bad but I decided to bunk school today. Not to stay at home or anything, I just randomly started to wander the town. I tie my hair up and comb my fringe back out of my eyes like Ash always tells me to now. The first place I go to is the coffee shop right next to the park. I don't even buy anything, I just sit there on a table and absorb my surroundings; the strong smell of coffee beans and tea leaves, the occasional glass some guy gave to the waitress and even every time I heard the cash register make that ringing sound when it opened.
It was always those little things that I always notice, all the irrelevant things. Just like how to everyone else I was that irrelevant thing. There aren't many people who ever just sit somewhere and start to note down every insignificant thing they see. So I sit there for a good half an hour and just breath in everything no one else does. It's just a thing I do now and then.
After that, I walk down the street with my hands in my pocket and make my way to the bookstore I often visit on a free day. I always do the same thing, go straight to the crime novel section and read the last chapter for all the books. That's another thing I always do, read the last part of a book before I even start it because who knows if you'll ever make it to the end of the book. No one knows that. For all you know, something could happen to you. Or you could lose the book somewhere. And the you'll spend night after night, staying awake, thinking about how you never got to the end of that book. Fair enough, one day you may forget about it. But what happens when out of nowhere you suddenly remember?
Or it could even be the case that you've given up on the book and just stopped reading as a whole. But won't it ever still ponder you what happened next? The thought will keep smashing into your skull until you finally decide to pick up the dusty old book and read it, only to find you didn't even like the ending. I'm sorry. I'm getting so carried away with this. Let's just forget about the book talk thing.
I lean down to reach for the bottom shelf, finding a pretty thin paperback book about a serial killer. I smile, thinking about Ash as I flip onto the first page. It starts with the description of an attack, probably from the victim's point of view. Sometimes I wonder how the author even knows how it feels like to be dying because surely this person is alive and god forbid has ever been in that kind of situation and even after that. How the hell can they give us a perfect description of how it feels like to die?
I skip to the last parts, and apparently the killer has murdered so many people that she herself has gone mad and turned herself in. Pathetic. Glad I didn't have to read the whole thing. I put the book back in it's place and leave the shop, the owner gives me a gentle smile as I leave.
So do I have any other choices rather than to smile back? I ignore him, continuing to walk down the street and cross the road and cross back. I check the time; a few more hours and school would be finished anyway. I head back home, feeling that I'd just wasted my time.
I open the door to my house and enter, going straight up to my room. And the first thing I see is Ash lying on my bed, grinning as I close the my door. 'Surprise Muthufuka!!' He yells, sitting up.
'How did you even get in?' I ask, throwing my coat at the corner of my room.
'Same way I always do,' he picks up one of my old stuffed animal toys and squeezes it in his arms. 'Hey,' he then looks up at me again 'You wanna do something tonight?'
'Eww, no!! Stay away!!!' I raise my hands in front of my face.
'No, no. I mean, go somewhere.' He corrects me and I sigh, blushing because of what I mistook it for.
'Like where?' I ask him.
'Like this place I always go to. Please?' He pouts, making his eyes go big.
'Fine,' I sigh.
'Yes!!' He cheers, fist pumping in the air. I place may hand over my smile.

'What are you doing?' He asks, guiding me through the crowd of people in the bar.
'Calling my mother.' I say 'If anything, I don't want her worrying about me like this morning.' I call her and wait for her to pick up 'Hi, mom. Um, I'm out with my... friend tonight. Yes. Yes. Love you too,' I hang up.
'What did she say?' Ash asks, ordering drinks at the same time.
'She says its fine.' I reply, holding my hand out for the glass he gives. I stare at it blankly, hesitating to take a sip.
'What's wrong?' He starts to drink from his glass with no problem. 'You've never drink alcohol before?' I nod 'Just take a sip. You'll learn to love it. And just between us, it'll kill you faster than any other drink.' He winks.
I press the rim of the glass to my lips, tilting it forward so that the liquid ran down my throat before I swallowed. I lick my lips 'Not bad...' I smirk, taking another, longer sip. It's as if the alcohol was going straight to my head because I already started to feel dizzy.
My lips curled into a frown as I realised my glass was already empty 'You want another one?' Ash asked, sensing what I wanted. I nodded vigorously. 'That's the spirit,' he smiled, handing me another. This drink was the poison I needed.
Ash's POV
I watched as Evelyn gulped down another glass. Maybe she's had enough, I thought to myself. But if she was happy, who was I to stop her? I still had half of my first drink left when she asked for a third one. 'Okay,' I smirk. I ask the bartender for another and then hand it to her, who eagerly accepts it.
After she finished that one, I was certain she was drunk because she headed towards the crowd and started dancing. I laughed, not because her dancing was pretty stupid, but because I was so glad to see her having fun. Her eyes suddenly lit up as she stumble towards me again 'What do you want?' She grabs my hand and pulls me off my seat 'Oh no, I ain't gonna dance with you!!'
'Come on. Please?' She pouts, identical to the one I did to get her to come with me here.
'That's not gonna work on me!!' I protest as she pulled me more and more into the crowd. I finally give in, since its the only way she'll stop complaining. She guided my hand to her waist, where I held her securely. Then, she looked up at me with those amazing violet eyes of hers. I gazed into them, trying my best not to just melt away right there and then. We aren't even dancing to the music anymore; just our own pace. Slower, closer.
My hands slipped down to her hips. She may be small and shrimpy looking but god knows how she got those curves. What am I thinking?! I shouldn't be focused on these kind of things. But the speed of the music and everything around me began to slow down. Everything except for me, Evelyn and the tiny space between us. 'I...' I pause, not finding the right words to finish off the sentence 'I need to get you home now.'
'One more drink?' She asked, getting close to my face to whisper into my ear. I shivered for a second. I couldn't believe just her voice could do that to me. Both of us, we had built our own walls to keep people out but, the walls, it hadn't work this time.
I take her to the counter again, ordering one last drink for both of us each. 'Here,' I hand it to her. She smiles, taking it and filling it down. I start to drink mine as well. 'So did you enjoy it?' I ask. She nods slightly, unable to keep her head straight. She was getting drowsy from all the drinking 'It's your first time in a night club, right?' Another nod 'I usually come here. It's fun; Getting drunk, starting a fight, then quickly escaping when the bouncers come to stop it...' She carries on talking 'Can I tell you a secret? I wasn't caught. Ever.' Her hands cover her mouth and she gives a sarcastic gasp 'Okay, fine. I wasn't caught here anyway.'
She laughs, holding onto the table so she wouldn't fall off. She was really drunk now. She's even started to finish my drink. I stealthily pried the half empty glass out of her hand. She had noticed, of course, but she didn't seem to care. 'Ash...' She murmured in an intoxicated state, carefully shuffling closer to me 'A-ashh...' her words were now slurred '...drink...dri-...enough...' Her eyes were barely open. She squinted, the leaned closer, resting her head against me '...h-home...'
'We are going home,' I assured her. She furrowed her eyebrows, still squinting until suddenly she shut her eyes 'Evelyn? Ev??' I shook her shoulder but she didn't get back up.
She had passed out.
'Now what do I do?' I started to panic 'Fuck this!' I grab hold of her shoulder with one hand and with the other, I lifter her legs up. Fortunately, she was light enough to carry 'Hold on,' I whisper to her 'I'm getting you home.'
(A/N Sorry guys. I know I haven't updated in a long, long time. I was just busy with my other book and completely forgot about this one. Hope you
