ROSE: I'm assuming you mean analyze their compatibility and judge based off my results whether they are suitable for one another or not. To do this, we should start with their personalities. Dave, from what I've come to gather over the years, keeps his walls high to avoid anyone from truly reaching him. "Keeping them at arms length", so to say. Though he refuses to admit it, he has his insecurities, the mystery behind his sunglasses being one of them. He lives true to his class and cares deeply for the well being of others, especially those he's close with.
I have known Karkat for a much shorter time, but have presumed these things to be true of him as well. Karkat's facade is not kept by walls of irony and nonchalance, however. He hides behind his voice. Getting beyond that is how you get to the true Karkat. As I was informed by Kanaya and Terezi on multiple occasions, Karkat's blood is mutated, which is the reason he doesn't display his colors on his sweater. His blood acts in the same fashion as Dave's eyes; they are his kryptonite. And, as previously mentioned about Dave, Karkat as a knight has a deep affection for his loved ones.
So what does all of this mean? Well, I suppose it simply means they have very similar personalities. But that isn't necessarily always a good thing. They do tend to say opposites attract. Luckily for them, there are many differences between the two as well. Dave is the yin to Karkat's yang. While Karkat's fiery temper is constantly flared, Dave keeps his cool at all times, or at least almost. This is very important for maintaining balance.
Those aren't the only things that need to be taken into consideration. We've forgotten the most important question. How do they intermingle with one another? That is to say, how do they interact? I believe I can speak for everyone when I say it's quite noticeable how Dave quiets the roar of Karkat's voice and anger. Likewise, Karkat chips away at Dave's facade and helps him to let loose, or at least more so than he usually allows. Dave even manages to get Karkat to smile every now and again, a feat I've only seen accomplished by him.
I felt as though I was writing a compare and contrast essay for school. My apologies. Let's wrap this up, shall we? In short, they're the textbook definition of a healthy, thriving relationship. They have all the key elements they need to coexist with one another.

ROSE: Now if we could just drag Dave out of the closet already, maybe we could get the two together.
