Wow, The One That Won My Heart Is My Roommate's Cousin (Dave X Reader)

"Hi, how are you?" An open-mouthed smile, a step and handshake.

No, too dorky.

"Hi, I'm Y/n!" A grin and a hug.

Too childish.

"Hello, my name is Y/n." A closed-mouth smile and a curtsy.

Too proper, who are we from, the 1800's?

I sigh as I look at myself in the mirror. A hair is out of place. My dress is a little wrinkly. My highlighter is on too heavily.

What's the point of going on a date if I can't even greet people or look nice?

I grab the hair mousse at my vanity and spray, coughing at the nasty smell. I take off my dress and iron it one last time. I wipe my face clean of makeup. Time to start over, and now I only have thirty minutes at best.

"Y/n, Honey, Stop Worrying!" Kanaya opens the door of my room to see me trying to get one wrinkle out of my dress. It just won't go away! I want it gone.

"Right, like this isn't my first blind date," I say with a roll of my eyes. "You know how I get, Kanny. A wrinkle or a hair out of place is what every person sees."

"Y/n, You Look Absolutely Stunning And Your Date Will Adore You."

"You said that last time. And the last time, and the time before that!"

"Just Get Your Dress On And Go, He's Going To Be Here Any Minute."

Speak of the fucking devil, the doorbell rings. Kanaya goes to greet the boy and I shove my feet into some nice shoes. I look at myself in the mirror once more. Tired eyes, wrinkles at the bottom of the dress, and hair slightly frizzy. I don't want to go out.

"Y/n, Come Out!" Fine, I'm (sexuality). I huff and stuff a mint into my mouth before going out of my room with a smile.

"I Promise, She Will Be Very Happy To Meet You."

"It will be a pleasure meeting her anyways."

I look around the corner to see a blond boy in dark shades and white suit. A red tie hangs around his neck and the shirt underneath the jacket is black. He looks like My Chemical Romance and 2013 Panic! At The Disco had a baby and he was an albino.

He's cute.

"Hello, I'm Dave Strider."

"Y/n L/n, nice to meet you."

I shake his hand. I feel my palms starting to get clammy and quickly let go.

"Well, Come Home Before 11 Please, And Y/n, Don't Forget You Must Be Home To Work With Us."

"Sure, Kanny."

"Bye, Kanaya. Say hi to Rose for me."

"Will Do, Dave."

And with that, the door shut and the night has begun. We walk to his car, a maroon chevy impala that was utterly to die for.

"Badass." I clap my hand over my mouth, my face already feeling hot.

"I know, right? My bro Dirk fixed her up since he knew I liked a show with the same car."

He walks over and opens the door for me. With a 'thank you' and a closing of the door, he drives to a nice restaurant. I relax a little into the small talk and slight laughter emanating from both of us. He helps me out of the car and we walk into the restaurant, getting seated almost immediately. I guess he made previous reservations.

"So, Y/n, tell me more about yourself."

I wilt a little on the inside, like I'm a flower. The night was going good, but talking about myself? People are disinterested in such subjects, he's only trying to be suave then brag about something.

"I like to read," I mumble, looking at my menu. Maybe I'll just stuff my face with pasta and a fancy dessert then go home. "It's unimportant. How about you, I hardly know you."

"I'm no one important," He said. "Just a comic strip artist. Nothing special."

"And yet, you have a fancy car, fancy clothes, and obviously can get anything handed to you."

"Well, not everything."

"Like what?" I roll my eyes and the waitress comes by to get our orders.

Just a water, a bottle of red wine, spaghetti and a risotto. He looks back at me, his face void of emotion.

"I can't get a girl to like me."

"You're not special in that department, Strider." I take a sip of my water, careful to not have my lipstick smear.

"Considering that I find the girl attractive and the first date isn't going well, I think my situation is pretty special."

I felt my face go hot for the second time during this date, it almost seemed pointless to wear blush. But, he's only saying that to be nice. Why would he even want this date? He doesn't even know me, and all I know is that he runs a comic strip online. Big whoop.

"Listen bubz, I have had many a blind date and I can't act surprised with those words anymore."

"Can you listen for once? I know you don't know me, but Rose is my cousin. She's told me all about you."

Of course. One of Rose's relatives. Kanaya has been desperate to get me out of a supposed 'slump' with dates. Well, it hasn't works so far in this night. Might as well listen to get some dirt on Rose.

"Okay. Just tonight."

"Thank you. Now, tell me about yourself."

"I thought you wanted me to listen?"

"Listen to my question, then answer it."

"Fine."

We talk for the majority of the date, laughter from him sprinkles the conversation. The bottle of wine was finished quickly, my cheeks a rosy color and my giggles starting to creep in. We finished food a long time ago, ordering f/d for the sweet aftertaste.

I don't know why or how I feel this way. Maybe I should just blame it on the wine. Or the exorbitant amount of food.

Or maybe it was because we actually could have a conversation and he listened and he laughed. Or because he wouldn't brag about himself and focus on my words. Or show any reasons to want to put his dick in my pants.

He seemed more real than the dates from the past.

He was talking about his brother and some game they used to play when they were little when I realized it.

I like him. It's far too early to say I love him, at least to his face, but I think he can tell.

"What's up?" He asks, a little concerned. I guess I was staring off for too long.

"Nothing, I just remembered a good memory,"  I wave off his question with a lame answer. He nods, but I can tell he knows I'm not speaking the truth. He doesn't press.

We walk back to his car after splitting the bill. It seems we may have ordered a few more bottles than intended. I slide into the passenger's seat, laughing and starry-eyed for the blond. He drives slowly, due to too many glasses. We listen to some of his work, even though it wasn't my style, I enjoyed it. It made me feel happy.

I see my house, shared with Rose and Kanaya.

"Guess I have to get out."

"I guess you do."

A silence, his music turned down and turning to some low ambient music. The streetlights were already on. Rose and Kanaya's window were out, and so were neighbor's windows.

"Could we do this again?" He asks, his voice going from a smooth and silky tone to a nervous and timid one.

"I wouldn't mind it." I look at him with a genuine smile. I brush hair out of my eyesight.

"I wouldn't either."

Another silence, his music switching from ambient to the soft strum of a ukulele.

"Would you mind if I kissed you?" A rush of words, an exhale of nerves and bravery and anxiety.

"I wouldn't mind at all."

I close my eyes and his lips are pressed to mine. They are soft and not pushing, his hand on my cheek and his shades pushing up against my forehead. Hot puss of air coming from his nose, making him tickle my face.

We stop, my face bright pink and his a grinning and blushing mess. His eyes are shades of red, garnet and cherry and currant, almost seem to be changing in the dim light. His smile falters and he shifts his shades down once more.

"No, no," I say, pulling them back down. "I like them. Really."

He smiles and I kiss him once more, relishing the feeling of warmth pooling in my belly then shooting out like fireworks.

"Goodnight, Dave."

"Goodnight, Y/n."

I wave once more as he drives off. I open the door with our extra key and I'm so happy the lights aren't on, because I know I have the dopiest grin on my face.

"It's Twelve."

I spoke too soon. Kanaya turns on a lamp by her chair, a book open and her face in a mask made of some sort of boujee mix of herbs and scents.

For once, I don't care about the curfew. Fuck the curfew! I just smile at her and she gets it.

"Oh My Gog."

"Yeah."

"Oh My Gog, He Was The One! Rose, Get Out Of Bed!"

I hear thumping, a Rose appearing with messy hair and Cthulhu pajamas.

"Was Dave satisfactory?"

"Yes!"

"Oh my gosh, I must know all the details!"

I smile at them then walk up to my room.

"Y/n, don't just leave us like this! You're worse then a cliffhanger in a book!"

"Goodnight, Kanny. See you, Rosey."

"Y/n!"
