The Piano Player (Rose X Shy!Reader)

Rose had always heard the piano playing, but never the player. She's heard stories of a beautiful girl with wild hair and an ear for music, but never had seen her.

Or, at least, that's what she thought.

Y/n L/n was captivated by the young blonde, but never showed it. She would stare in a revery, blush at her voice, and was in most of Rose's classes. Y/n's actions were unnoticeable, her clothes bland against her, and a quiet voice in the back of the classroom. Rose never noticed her. No one really did.

The blonde girl was walking with her best friend Kanaya when she heard the music first. Her heart beat in her chest loudly and she almost sunk into a trance of awe. It was a sweet tune with a hint of sadness; a bittersweet feeling. She bid farewell to her friend and rushed to the music room.

No one was there, they've stopped.

Rose's heart dropped down to her stomach and she walked back to Kanaya with heavy steps.

Y/n was hiding behind one of the bigger instruments in fear. She had heard footsteps towards the room and got frightened by who might appear. When she peeked out from behind the instrument, her heart stopped.

Rose Lalonde had heard her play. Y/n grins giddily and walks out of the room, the piano scores shoved in her backpack. Rose had heard her!

The music played a different day. Rose, determined to find the person, was creeping up to the door. There, on the stool! A girl with a soft glow around her. Her hair was wild from the energy put into playing, her face adorning a smile. Rose recognized her.

Y/n L/n.

But this was not her at the same time! Not the quiet, shy, beauty of a girl in class. She was sitting tall in her seat with her hair unraveled and hands dancing on keys. Rose recognized the song as well, "Merry-Go-Round of Life" from Howl's Moving Castle. The way Y/n threw herself into the song made Rose blush in awe. Her eyes were a dazzling shade of e/c, her minimal mascara and eyeliner smudged. She couldn't believe she never noticed the girl with dancing fingers. She couldn't believe someone so overwhelmed wit ha small bit of conversation could speak so mush with an instrument.

Rose stood in the doorway of the music room with a mauve face and a hand over her heart. Y/n sat at the piano and smiled as the ending was working out the last notes.

Y/n panted from playing so vigorously. She stood up and placed the scores in her backpack once more. A slight noise at the door made the musician turn and freeze.

Rose Lalonde had seen her in a ragged, energetic, embarrassing state.

Her face goes pale from nerves and anxiety, Rose's still a light blush.

"I am so.. so sorry if I bothered you." Y/n mumbled, casting her head down. Rose was shocked at the girl's words.

"It was not bothersome at all, Y/n." Rose's voice soothed the girl slightly, making her shoulders relax from their tense state.

"In fact, I quite enjoyed it. I want to hear more."

Y/n's eyes widened in awe and bewilderment. How could someone so perfect as Rose love the music that comes out of her clumsy hands? Y/n nodded slowly, still taking the words said by the blonde. She sat back down on her stool and took out multiple scores of music.

The bell rings.

Y/n stares forlornly at the Lalonde girl. Rose just laughs.

"I find this more interesting than chemistry, don't you?" She pulls up another stool and walks over to Y/n. "I wouldn't mind skipping to hear you once more."

Y/n's mouth drops open in shock, but places a sheet of music back upon the piano. She takes a deep breath and plays for the beautiful girl in front of her, getting lost once more into the music.

And Rose could see the perfect, beautiful Y/n once more.

**Currently my mind is Anthony Michael Hall in Sixteen Candles where he gets trapped under a glass table (Squeals-- jaaAAAAAKKKEEE--). I hope you enjoyed this oneshot!**
