The girl walked in the hallway, only a few paces from Karkat Vantas. She was about 5'7" while her boyfriend was maybe 5'4". he got teased a lot about it, but Y/n L/n never minded. She liked having such a small and caring boy who liked her. Karkat was less happy about it, but he loved her, so who cared? Anyways, she was walking down the hallway and Karkat couldn't help but stare at her. She was beautiful and his group of friends were actually talking about her.

"Karkles, I'm just wondering how you even got her." Dave strider shook his head and stared at the troll. "I don't know either," piped Rose. "She's the most popular girl at the school. And we're a pack of.. well, nobodies." Dave nodded at his step-sister's words. "Hey Kar!" Y/n came over and looped her arms around Karkat's waist. He smiled and kissed her on the cheek. "HEY Y/N." He still had a sense of doubt; why was she dating him?

Y/n had heard the conversation and after school she decided to do something a lot of popular kids don't do. She'll appear so different, she'll appear as herself, as she is with Karkat. Before that though, she was at Karkat's house, snuggling with the small troll. "FUCK YOU AND YOUR HEIGHT AND YOUR SMILE AND YOUR SMARTS," She heard him grumble out and she laughed. "Y/N?" His voice seemed to go serious. "Yeah, Karkles?" Gog, he hated the pet names when other people say them, but when she says them, oh his heart goes crazy. "WHY ARE YOU GOING OUT WITH ME?" Y/n smiled. He didn't know what was in store for him the next day. "Because I love you, duh. Easiest question." "BUT YOU COULD BE WITH THE FOOTBALL PLAYERS OR THE SMOOTH-TALKERS." He said doubtfully. "YOU CAN GET ANYONE THERE, WHY ME?" Y/n kissed him on the forehead and hugged him tight. "Because I want to be with you, you're better than those jerks." Still unsatisfied with his answer, Karkat reluctantly buried his head into his girlfriend's chest. 

From time to time I pinch myself,

"Still with her?" "YUP." "I don't get it still." "WELL I DON'T FUCKING CARE ABOUT YOUR OPINION, STRIDER. ME AND Y/N ARE IN A HAPPY RELATIONSHIP. HOW ARE YOU AND TEREZI?" "That was a low blow." "Hey, look at Y/n!" Karkat stopped moving in the hallway and his eyes went wide. There y/n stood. Her hair was dyed f/c and she wore an anime tee shirt with long socks and a skirt. She wore dorky glasses and not a single lick of make up, her face clear of any cover-all. She smiled brightly and jumped at Karkat. "Listen, no one likes me for me," Y/n said. "And I could tell you didn't understand why I liked you." She gestured at her clothing. "I thought showing the 'popular kids' my real self, they would back off and so that you'd know I'm just as big of a dork as you." Karkat smiled and hugged his girl tight. He stood on his tip-toes and kissed her hard on the lips, making Y/n giggle slightly. "C'mon, Egbert, let's get away from the couple sucking faces."

"WHY'D YOU RISK YOUR POPULARITY FOR ME?" Karkat asked after the kiss. "Because I care more about you than some stupid title. You're way better than anything!" She said cheerfully. Karkat blushed a bright red and snuggled closer to Y/n, still surprised that the cutest, smartest, tallest girl love him for him, just as he loves her for her.
