Eyes Are The Window To The Soul (Dave X Reader)

** Legit I don't know what I'm writing. I might delete this later today. It's past 12:00 AM here and I'm not tired, but I'm delirious. Woohoo, let's ruin my writing!**

Parties are the bane of my existence. Drunk teenagers with bongs being thrown around, classic toilet papering of the house, and of course, the one senior who has a sock on a doorknob. I sigh and swirl my most-likely spiked drink. Plain old root beer is delicious, why can't I have just that? The music was a pounding mix of Nicki Minaj and Jay-Z, the bass taking over the voices and making it sound like static. This party is turning into a hellhole, and I'll be the first one to die.
"Hey, L/n!"
It's just my fucking luck that Strider found me. He doesn't usually show emotion, but I've caught him smiling at me before. It was odd, getting attention from the popular boy, but it helped with my feelings for him. It just made the monster grow inside of me. But I know he just wants to get in everybody's pants, and I happen to be included in everyone.
"L/n!"
I jump a little as I realize the platinum blond was grinning at me. He was closer than a few moments ago, and I could smell the intoxicating drinks of the night in his breath. I wrinkle my nose in disgust.
"I didn't know you were a party girl."
His Southern accent made life not fucking fair! It was a long drawl with the word 'girl' and he minced his words. I felt my face warm up a second before pointing at Rose.
"She invited me!"
Dave nodded and smiled. It was an imperfectly curved smile, but it looked amazing on him.
"You wanna go outside?"
I look around at the party. People were passing around a few joints, making the air smell like the stereotypical Californian towns, and heat from dry humping bodies was suffocating. I nod and drain my cup, wincing at the acrid smell of vodka. Dave grabs my hand and weaves through the crowd. I try not to step on anyone and dodge cat calls from his friends.

The air was crisp outside. The warmth of the house left me and I rub my arms a little bit. The pulsing house let out a little heat from its door, but it was too cold. What were people to expect in February?
"Here."
I felt the soft cotton of a sweater envelope me. I glance up at Dave. His face was tinged with a light pink. His red jacket was around my shoulders and he was sitting close to me.
"Thank you. And here I thought chivalry is dead."
I smile for a brief second. His posture seemed to straighten in confidence.
"I should be the best gentleman to the best lady, shouldn't I?"
I roll my eyes and hit his shoulder.
"Stop hitting on me and tell me why I'm out here with the single most popular boy at our school?"
I raise an eyebrow at him. His hands were fidgeting with loose string from his pants. His hands were pale and arms getting good pimples.
"I wanted to talk with you."
"The the biggest geek in the school? I'm flattered, most people don't spare a glance. I think I'm too much for them to handle."
"I don't think that at all, Miss L/n."
His Texan accent melted my mind for a quick second.
"Oh?"
"I was planning on asking a girl to prom, just needed her to agree."
I guffaw. Of course he says that.
"I'm not your usual type, Strider. One night stands? A BJ in a bathroom? A girl to dance with? I'm out."
I take of his jacket and place it on his shoulders. I turn to walk away, but his hand closes over mine. I look down at the boy.

Breathtaking. His usual shades were off, leaving scarlet pleading eyed to look at. I stare in awe, the color was so deep and raw, the emotion metaphorically dripping out. I felt my breath hitch in my throat.
"I want someone stable. Someone to rely on, someone to love me for me."
His sentence was said in a lower voice. It felt like a smooth, soft song playing in the radio. I stay silent, shocked, at his proclamation. He wants what I want.

I want him.

"Consider yourself luck you caught me first."
His facial expression was caught off guard.
"What?"
"You heard me, Strider."
I brush off my pants and start to walk off the steps of the house.
"Wait!"
I turn and Dave was running after. He placed a hand on mine and lifted it up to his lips. They were soft, like a feather, gliding on my hand. A soft, chaste kiss placed on it. He gives me his jacket and smiles once more.
"Can't have my prom princess freezing on the way home."
I roll my eyes, smiling at the boy's slightly cocky words. I kiss him lightly on the cheek before sliding on the jacket. His eyes widened in surprise and happiness, his cheeks reddening with each second.
"Bye Strider." I walk off, the last thing in my vision was Dave doing a whoop. I chortle and he slips on his glasses, to go further into the party. I smile to myself and wrap his jacket tighter around me. All I see are his eyes, crimson and emotional, and that's i all I needed to be sold on Dave Strider.
