I run in the rain, my legs getting tighter with each step. The rust will have to be scrubbed off later, but that's not my priority. I slip on the wet concrete, almost landing on the ground with the girl in my arms. She's unconscious and beaten up bad. Her clothes are torn and nasty, her hair unkempt and obviously starved. Her skin is cold and damp, her hair falling loosely onto her face. I get my balance and keep running back to my hive. 

The warmth makes my cheeks turn brown and prickly, the girl shivers. I lay her down on my couch, her clothes dripping all over. I would help her into warmer clothes, but I don't know how she would act if she woke up to me, a stranger, taking her clothes off. That would be terrifying, probably. I grab a few fluffy blankets and towels to put around the girl and start getting food ready for when she wakes up. Hot things, like soup and grilled cheese sandwiches and hot chocolate. She stirs at the smell and I see the prick of an ear. A fuzzy ear.

"hOLY SHiT,,," I say in my squeaky voice. Instantly, the girl is up, her eyes wild and a tail flicking about.

"What the fuck?" She growls. Since I'm able to feel emotions and talk to animals, I can tell that she is not angry. She's scared, and who wouldn't be, found in a stranger's house? I raise my arms up from the stove in a calming way. Her hands were jittering and her teeth were clacking from being in the cold for so long. I don't step near her, but I talk to her in a calm and low voice. 

"hEY,,, i'M NOT HERE TO HARM YOU,,," I start off, my hands lowering, going back to the task of getting her food. Her skinny frame was making me feel a lot of pity for her, but if I say that, she might get worse. 

"iT WAS RAINING AND YOU WERE IN AN AlLEY." She bristled at that and she noticed the cold. She rubs her arms and I stack food onto a plate and into a bowl. A belly rumbles and she looks around, as if embarrassed. I place the food down at the coffee table and gesture for her to eat. She looks at the food suspiciously before eating some of it. The hunger in her eyes slowly depletes and I smile at her. She doesn't do the same. 

"mY NAME IS TAVROS,,, tAVROS NITRAM." I hold out my hand and she cautiously shakes it.

"Y/n L/n."

"wELL,, y/N,, i HAVE SOME SPARE CLOTHES fROM ONE OF MY FRIENDS. yOU CAN CHANGE OUT OF THAT STUFF." She nods and I grab some old clothes of Nepeta's. She slept over recently to continue a game of Fidus Spawn and left some of her cat clothes, a tail area cut out for her own. I hand them to Y/n and take her to the bathroom. I gave her an extra towel in case she wanted to shower too, when she looked at the bathing area with longing. I get my couch ready for her to sleep since she won't be going out in the dreadful weather any time soon. My ears prick up as Running water starts and I smile to myself. She's getting more comfortable around here. I get more food for her just in case, and go to my room to grab some pillows. She's out quick, Nepeta's black cargo pants just barely fitting her and the green shirt hanging loosely. I hand her a blanket and she snuggles into it. Her tail is tucked between her legs and her ears are down, but not in the way an animal's would be when threatened. I sit in a chair next to the couch.

"yOU WANNA TELL ME WHY YOU WERE THERE?"

"Please no."

"oKAY,, i WON'T PUSH." We sit in silence of a bit, her tail swishing around. It's actually kind of fascinating how a hybrid is here; I only know them from human fairytales, so I didn't think that they were real. Her fur is silky and she seems to be calm. Her ears were flicking around at the sound for the rain, the creaks in the house, the clock ticking, anything. I chuckle to myself at how adorable she is.

"What?" She says in a defensive tone. I shrug and my face feels warm.

"i,, i THINK YOUR EARS ARE CUTE." Her face turns to the color of an unripe strawberry and she smiles. It looks nice on her, and it's great that she feels safe enough to smile at me.

"Thank you, Tavros."

Aww. I look at the clock so she doesn't focus on my blushing face. It's already past midnight! I get up slowly, so she doesn't get startled. 

"i'M GOING TO BED,, toNIGHT WAS ROUGH,, hUH?" I smile weakly at her and she nods. 

"tRY TO GET SOME SLEEP. yOU CAN WAKE ME UP OF YOU NEED ANYTHING,,, aND I'LL BE HERE TO MAKE BREAKFAST FOR YOU." She nods a bit sleepily and gets up. I stay still so that she doesn't lash out at me. 

She hugs me. Her ears just touched my chin, tickling it. I wrap her into a big hug and she nuzzles closer.

"Thank you for saving me."

"oF COURSE,, y/N,, i WOULD HATE MYSELF IF YOU WERE LEFT THERE." She smiles at me then goes back onto the couch. I turn off the light, a pink glow from a nightlight just making a faint silhouette on her. I go to my room and close the door, my breath getting out. I didn't realize I was holding it in. I smile to myself and climb into my own bed. I close my eyes, thinking about the young hybrid. I do hope she stays, because I think I want to be with her.
