Unwrapping | Mummy!Polypa x Reader
So, I couldn't find an image of a human Polypa, but oh well, she's adorable so it doesn't matter. Also, I've seen the comments people have been leaving and I'd just like to say thank you and I'm so happy everyone is enjoying my writing!
Edit: thanks for the human pic @existereOracle!
When coming home from work, you had not expected to find a giant wooden box sitting beside your apartment door. You notice a letter attached to the front of it, a familiar mark stamped on the front.
You let out a sigh as you peel off the letter, opening it up.
Dear (y/n),
I know it has been quite some time since I returned home, and I am sorry for that. In this box contains a piece from one of my digs. There was a breach in our party and for now I won't be able to return until this is solved. I have given this to you for safe keeping, please be careful and look after her.
Love, your father.
You frown at the letter, scared for your dad. Hopefully he would be alright and come home soon.
You look back up at the box. It was just a bit shorter than you, and pretty wide, enough to fit a small statue. You shuffle the box, trying to see if you could lift it. Unfortunately you couldn't do so, but you could move it along the ground, so you walk it into your apartment. You sit it by the wall, closing the front door and going off to get the crowbar.
Once you finally find it, you dig the crowbar into the side of the crate and pull at it. You let out a yelp when the front flies off, you going along with it. You let out a grunt as you hit the floor, the lid on top of you. You push off the lid and nearly let out a screech at the contents.
Amongst the hay like substance used to cushion it, a bandaged up body sat inside it. You slowly get to your feet, crowbar still in hand.
'Dammit dad.' You curse him as you take a step forward.
You had no idea why he had sent it to you. Maybe he didn't think it was safe to send it to his higher ups. None the less, you didn't want to upset your dad, so you would keep it with you until he returned.
You reach down and grab the lid, intending to put it back on and shuffle it into the spare room. But when you notice something move from the corner of your eye, you stop and look up. The arm of the mummy rises up slowly, reaching up towards its face.
Too scared to scream, you just watch as its bandaged arm up to its face, its hands gripping the bandages and tearing them off. Your eyes widen when they meet the tanned skin of the person underneath.
"Damn it was hard to stay still for that long." A voice comes from the mummy.
You watch in fear and absolute intrigue as they remove more bandages.
When they finally notice you, they raise a brow at you. They try to take a step forward, only for their legs to be bandaged together. They fall to the ground with a grunt, making you wince.
They look over at you, glaring, "well, are you going to help me up?"
You nod, scrambling over and helping to unbandage the figure. Once they were free you step away, still scared.
"Well, where am I?" they ask, looking over at you.
"Uh, my apartment in (hometown)." You reply shakily.
She stares at you for a moment, "I have no idea where that is, but I guess that is insignificant."
"I mean, I guess."
You had no idea how to comprehend the past 10 minutes, and at this point you probably really needed one.
"So, you're alive." You manage to squeak out.
"Obviously."
Alright, you were getting anywhere.
"Okay, my dad sent you to me in a box, looking like a mummy," you begin, "and it turns out you're alive and I am so confused."
The girl pauses, "wait, Anthony didn't tell you?"
~~~
So, after way too long of explaining, the mummy known as Polypa was cursed to never die. When your dad's group found her, they were planning on selling her, but your dad didn't like that so he discreetly sent her to you to hide.
Now, six months later you were sitting on the couch, watching shitty horror movies with a cursed mummy. You shove another handful of popcorn, shoving it into your mouth. Your eyes glued to the screen as another teenager gets stabbed by Ghost Face.
"I think I could get used to this weird 'TV'." Polypa hums.
"Well that's good," you smile, "because I spend most of my time in front of it."
You lean your head on Polypa's shoulder, picking up more popcorn.
You still hadn't heard from your dad, which was worrying. But until he did contact you, you were happy living with this strange mummy.
