No Troll Left Behind | Signless x Mutant!Reader

Hello! Sorry this is pretty terrible, but I haven't written in some time.

Your glove clad hand wipes the off teal blood from your nose. A grin stretches across your face as you run off, the hood on your head nearly flying off. Your silhouette carved out in the light of the rising sun.

Behind you high blooded trolls hide away wherever they can, trying to save themselves from the sun that threatens to burn them. Some give you one last glare before disappearing completely.

You readjust the mask covering your nose and mouth, making sure that it doesn't fall as you try and search for a place to hide. Your clothes would keep you safe for now, but you needed to sleep after all of the fighting you just went through. Turns out escaping a prison was harder than it looked.

The goggles that protected your eyes from the sun were cracked, allowing some of the bright light to invade your sight. So as your squinting eyes look around, you notice a cluster of tightknit trees in the distance. This causes you to pick up your pace, wanting to get out of the blistering heat.

Your heavy legs manage to carry you to the trees; you find a heavily covered area before collapsing on the ground. You didn't care how uncomfortable it was, it was still better than the damp floor of a cell. Once your eyes close you let yourself sleep, knowing you'll need it tomorrow.

~~~
"Well, how about that," a voice fills your sleep addled mind, "didn't think we'd find anyone out here in this wasteland."
Your eyes snap open; you quickly jump to your feet. You were still drowsy, so you wobbled. From behind your tinted goggles you saw four trolls standing before you. You were ready to run, but seeing a familiar troll you pause.
"You," you point at the hooded troll, "you're the Signless."
His eyes widen slightly at your recognition of him. A short, wild haired olive blood crouch slightly, as if ready to pounce.
"Oh, sorry," you grin, "I saw one of your sermons a while back."
He was about to speak up, but his mouth closes once more as he looks down. You follow his gaze towards the blood smudged on your light brown gloves. It looked to almost glow against the material. You wince, hiding your hand behind your back.
"Well, that wasn't something we were expecting to see." The tall Jade blood speaks up.
You almost contemplated grabbing the small knife you had stolen during your escape, but you knew about the gold blood troll's psionics. You had no way of winning against him.
Your shoulders drop in defeat, "shit."
"Oh, we apologise," the Signless begins, "we promise you no harm, no matter your blood."
He reaches into his cloak, you instantly tense up. When he pulls out a dagger you take a step back. Maybe you were wrong about him.
He presses the dagger against his finger, slicing it. You let out a gasp escapes your lips as you watch the bright crimson drips from the wound, splashing onto the dirt below.
"You're..."
You couldn't finish your sentence.
"I guess we're quite alike."
~~~

The Signless' speech continues on, you stay standing beside Psii.

Over the past few months you had been travelling with the ragtag group. You were so glad that you did, being with them was much better than trying to survive all alone.

As you watched the Signless keep talking, you notice some suspicious movement out of the corner of your eye. You nudge Psii's side, nodding over towards said movement.

"I think we need to get going early."

Psii hums, "yeah, that's probably-"

He was cut short when an arrow goes flying past, hitting a nearly building. Before the arrow could even touch the ground trolls were in a panic, running away and yelling.

"Psii, go find Dolorosa and Disciple," you shout over the madness, "I'll go find Signless!"

He nods and you both run off in different directions.

You push through the crowd of panicked trolls. As you do so you push on your mask and goggles.

It only took a moment for you to see Signless. You instantly head towards him, managing to push through the midst of the panic.

"Signless!"

You look to the right to see two blue bloods. They had both notched their arrows, aimed straight at Signless. Without a second thought you put yourself between him and the blue blood. You let out a strangled cry as the arrows dig into your back.

Signless hears your scream and whips around in time to see your collapse onto the ground. He screams out your name as he runs towards you. He kneels down beside you, helping you get to your feet.

"I'm just dead weight," you try to reason, "just leave me here."

"No," he snaps back, "we'll be okay, just stay alive."

You try to concentrate on breathing and keeping your legs moving. You knew that your bright blood was trailing behind you and you were sure they were going to follow you.

"Signless, I don't think I can stay away much longer." You say, your voice slurring.

"No, no, come on." You could hear the panic laced in his voice.

The sound of the crowd had disappeared now, you were pretty sure had made it to the nearest forest. Your eyes were only concentrating on your feet, making sure that you didn't trip over them.

Faintly you could hear the distressed voice of your comrades.

"I'm sorry." You mumble, your vision fading to black.

~~~
"No, don't put any salve on the wounds until it soaks in." the first thing you hear in Dolorosa's voice.
You let out a grunt, pushing yourself off of your stomach.
"It's okay," Dolorosa's voice calms you, "you're lying on your stomach so your injuries can heal."
You allow yourself to lie back down, you couldn't feel the pain, which you were sure was because of the salve that they had put on.
You feel a hand ruffle your hair affectionately. You turn your head to see Signless crouched beside you.
"I told you you'd be fine." He smiles.
"The two holes in my back say otherwise," you grin, "but thank you for not leaving me behind."
"Of course," he replies, ruffling your hair once more, "no troll left behind."
