Life | Aradia x Reader

You had met Aradia about a year after the trolls had appeared on Earth. The lower blooded trolls usually were left on the street while the higher bloods were able to "bargain" for homes. She was walking the street, alone. You were both around 18 human years at the time. She looked as if she hadn't slept in months and she was filthy. You had felt bad and let her into your home. You let her shower, gave her some clean clothes and let her have your beg while you took the couch.

It took a while for her to trust you and eventually you both became friends. Your other friends didn't like her very much, as she was a low blooded troll, and apparently they only tolerated the high bloods and hated any of the weaker trolls. This almost scared Aradia and you promptly cut off ties with those friends. Luckily some of your closest friends were okay with Aradia and also befriended her.

About two years of living together you decided you needed a bigger home and moved a little out of town into a proper two bedroom home, so now you could each have a room. It wasn't long after that that you decided to ask Aradia out on a date. Surprisingly she said yes. You were both together for another two years as partners.

When you decided to marry Aradia, you were so excited. You were both about 22 human years at the time. You were both in Paris for an archaeological meeting. Aradia really wanted you to come along, and you were happy to do so. You had gotten there a week before the meeting so you could both enjoy being there. You had gone to see so much, historical sights, museums and fancy restaurants.

You were pretty sure that Aradia knew this was going to happen, but that didn't make her any less ecstatic. You were both eating dinner at a restaurant and had just finished eating.

"So Aradia," you began, "we've both known each other since we were 18, at the time I just wanted to help you. And now that I look back on it, it's the third best thing I ever did. Two years later I decided to ask you out on a date, that was the second best thing I ever did. And now, I'm about to do the best thing I will do."

You stood up and knelt in front of her. Tears began to drip down her cheeks, a smile plastered on her face.

"Aradia Megido, will you do me the honour of marrying me?"

"Of course!" she exclaims and wraps her arms around you.

The people around your cheer as you slip the ring onto her finger. As soon as the ring slipped onto her finger she pulls you in for a kiss.

The wedding was beautiful; it was obviously a big white wedding. You were waiting at the altar, wringing your hands nervously. Your mother gives you a comforting smile, giving you a thumb up. When you see Aradia walk in, you nearly cry. You were pretty sure she wanted to wear a black and red dress when she first started to search for one, but eventually she stuck with white. And god did she look gorgeous.

When she reaches the altar, she grasps one of your hands. You both smile at each other before the vows begin.

Everything felt like a blur until you heard the words 'you may kiss the bride.'

You grin and lean in, your lips pressing to hers in a hot kiss. After all this time, you could now call her your wife.

It was about five years later that you decided that you both wanted kids. Since trolls and humans couldn't have children, you decided to adopt. You both chose two your trolls, a burgundy blooded boy by the name of Hyamin and bronze blooded girl by the name of Deucea. They were left in a rough orphanage and you both instantly picked the pair.

When they got back to your house they were so excited and couldn't wait to play. They shared a room while you and Aradia shared the other. Of course Aradia would still disappear for work every now and again. But that was alright, you were happy to be the stay at home parent.

It wasn't long until they were both old enough to travel alone. So you and Aradia enjoyed life as your kids both traveled.

After so many happy years of marriage, you were sitting on a chair beside a hospital bed. Since Aradia was a burgundy blood, she didn't live quite as long as humans. She was 68 and lying in hospital, not much time left. Your hand gripped hers and rubs your thumb over the back of her hand comfortingly.

"Mum?" the familiar voices of your children awaken you from your almost trance like state.

You look up to see Hyamin and Deucea walking in, sad expressions. You smile, happy to see them.

"Hey kids," you greet, "I'm glad you came."

"Hyamin? Deucea?" Aradia's shaky voice makes all three of you look over at her.

"Ma!" the pair almost shout, making their way to their Ma's side. Aradia smiles at the pair.

"I'm so happy to see you both," she begins, "please keep living free, we're so lucky to have gotten you two."

She then turns to me, "and you, you have to keep living too. I'm so happy that you found me, and brought me in. I wouldn't change a single thing."

"Me neither." You sob.

You stand up and lean over, pressing a kiss to her lips one last time.

"Goodbye, I love you."

She goes limp and you instantly begin sobbing, both of your children move around you to comfort you. But it wasn't much help as they too were sobbing. A doctor walks in, a look of empathetic sorrow etched onto it.

"I'm sorry for your loss."
