Dark | Polypa x Reader

4 Dark

There were many things that you had to get used of since 'moving' to Alternia. One thing was never going out in the day, the last time you did that you nearly ended up a walking roast. But sometimes you didn't even notice it was night time due to all of the bright lights. The two oddly coloured moons that hung in the sky like weirdly designed props was the only indicator of the time. The only say thing was that you couldn't see the stars, back on Earth you had enjoyed going out of town to enjoy the night sky, but you were a little scared to go out of town alone. You had been out there a few times, but usually when you did nothing good came of it.

You thank the shopkeeper as you take the bag of food and head off, the hoodie that Mallek had let you borrow covering your face. You wander down the street, looking around as to not bump into anyone unwanted. As you walked you thought about who you should visit. For the past few days you've been hiding in your makeshift hive, trying to catch up on your sleep. Your adventures had taken you all over, but that came with consequences as well, including a serious lack of sleep.

You take out a snack from your bag and unwrap it, taking a bite of it. You had no idea what was on it, and at this point you really didn't care. Just as you were turning the corner, you bump into someone. You fly down onto the ground, dropping your bag and grazing your palms. You wince as you look up at the person you had bumped into, terrified that since you scraped your palms as that means you could be bleeding. You really didn't need any troll seeing that, as you could end up in serious trouble. Your teary eyes instantly dry up when you notice the familiar figure looking down at you.

"Polypa!" you exclaim with a grin.

"Oh*(Y/n)* it's you*|"

"Yeah, sorry about bumping into you." You chuckle.

"It's fine*|"

She holds a hand out for you to take. Instantly you lift your hand up to take it. You were quite confused when a horrified look covers her face. But before you could ask she yanks you to your feet and begins to drag you along until you reach an alley way that was clear. You look down at your hands to see your crimson blood seeping from the wounds.

"Oh, that makes sense."

Without saying anything Polypa pulls out some bandages and begins to wrap your hands up. You stay quiet as you watch her work.

"Thank you for that." You smile.

"No problem." She nods.

"Oh shit, my food." You whine, looking behind you.

You were sure that that food was gone, so now you'd have to go get some more. Luckily you still had plenty of money from winning that battle with Azdaja. You look back at the troll with a smile.

"Hey Polypa, do you wanna go out for a bit?" you ask.

She seems shocked for a moment, before smiling and nodding.

"Sure * I haven't got anything going for me at the moment anyway*|" she shrugs.

You smile excitedly and take a hold of her hand, pulling her along.

"Great, let's go," you tell her, "I've wanted to go out here for a while."

Eventually you slow down so that Polypa could walk beside you, but you kept your hands intertwined together. You both walked near the shadows as to not draw attention, and as you walked further, the lights that filled the city begun to fade out until the only illumination was from the moons.

"You know, I've wanted to come out here for a while," you admit, "but I was too scared to come alone."

You look around at the abandoned buildings until you see a tall one.

"Ooh, let's go look from up there."

"So * what're we looking for up there?*|"

"You'll see." You grin.

You manage to get all the way up to the top and onto the roof. It was now that you let go of Polypa's hand. You take a glance at the lit up city before lying down on the ground. You gesture for Polypa to join you. She does so and you look up at the sky. A grin splits over your face as you notice the tiny twinkling stars that were dusted over the dark sky. You glance over at Polypa to see her smiling.

"It's pretty, huh?" you chuckle.

"Yeah, I hadn't really noticed it before."

You look back at the sky and hesitate for a moment, before taking Polypa's hand in your again. You sort of expected her to pull away, but luckily she just squeezes it.

You were scared of the dark that surrounded to empty side of the city, but with her, it wasn't quite as scary.
