Come Back For You | Assassinstuck! Karkat X Reader

Your heels clicked against the wooden floor as you storm into your room, your bedroom door slamming shut roughly behind you. A sigh escapes your lips as you take a seat on the edge of your bed. You just finished a dinner with some of your father's acquaintances, the Acciaro family. You had been placed beside their son, who was only a few years older than you. The entire dinner he wouldn't stop trying to sweet talk you. His words seemed sweet and smooth on the outside, but they were quite condescending and annoying.

A knock on your window snaps you from your thoughts with a slight jump. You get to your feet and wander over to your window, opening the curtain slightly and peeking out. Your lips pull into a grin when you notice a familiar figure standing out on your balcony. You swing the window open and launch yourself at them. Your dress flutters behind you in the cool wind, making your skin prickle with goosebumps, but you were too ecstatic to care.

"Karkat," you smile up at him, "it's so good to see you!"

"It's good to see you too, darling." He smiles back, stroking your cheek gently.

You both fall silent as you snuggle back into his chest, his chin resting upon your head. You're both enjoying each other's presence since you hadn't seen one another for well over a month. Your eyes slip shut as he begins running a hand through your hair, you lean into his touch.

"Listen, I won't be able to see you for quite some time." Karkat finally speaks up, breaking the peaceful silence.

"What!?" you ask frantically, "why?!"

"There has been... an issue." He replies reluctantly.

Before any more words could be exchanged between to two of you, you quickly pull your face from his chest and press your lips to his. Your arms wrap around his neck as you kiss him fervently. His arms tighten around your waist as he kisses back with just as much passion. Your fingers tangle in his dark locks, pulling a moan from him. Eventually you pull away, leaning your forehead to his gently. You look up through your eyelashes at his bright eyes.

"Promise you'll come back to me." You whisper softly.

"I promise." He mutters a reply.

He kisses you one last time before disappearing into the streets below.

You sat quietly in the house's library, reading a newly bought book. It had been around a year since you had last seen Karkat, since he promised to return. You had received no word from him that he was returning or even of his survival. The entire time you had been worrying about him. Had he been hurt? Killed? Or did he just not want to see you again?

You lean your head against your palm as your elbow sat comfortably on the arm of the chair. A sad sigh escapes your lips as you remember the first time you had met Karkat.

~

You were walking along the street, listening as your younger sister talked about god knows what. You had tuned out her ranting some time ago; instead you were looking around at the buildings and stalls that lined the street. A yelp escapes your lips as you bump into something and go crashing to the floor. You wince and look up with a slight groan to see a troll with nubby horns standing in front of you.

"Oh, I'm sorry." He says, holding a hand out for you, his voice sounding quite grumpy.

"No, the fault is mine," you reply sheepishly, "I should have watched where I was going."

You almost wince again when you feel your cheeks heating up.

"I'm Karkat Vantas." He introduces himself.

"(Y/n) (l/n)." you reply with a smile.

"Well, it was a pleasure to meet you Miss (l/n)," he smiles, "but I must be going."

"Pleasure meeting you too."

As Karkat walks off, you look down at your sister, who was grinning widely.

"What?" you ask.

"You're blushing." She chides cheekily.

"Oh shut up." you mumble and continue walking.

~

"(Y/n)!" a voice snaps you from your daydream.

You look up to see your sister running towards you, something clasped in her hands.

"Look what mother got me while we were in town!" she grins, showing you a blue covered book.

"Let me guess, you want help reading it?" you chuckle as she nods.

Three years, it had been three long years since you had last seen Karkat. You had begun to fear the worst, but kept strong. You refused to allow your bad thoughts plague you. Of course he would come back, he had promised.

Your feet screamed for relief as you walk into your room. You had spent the day helping your father with negotiations with some of his acquaintances. You almost let out a scream with you see a figure lying on your bed, clad in an assassin's uniform. The uniform covered their face so you could not see their features at all. Just as you were about to yell, you notice two nubby horns poking out from the top of the hood.

"Karkat?" you say in a low voice.

You figure stands up from the bed and flip their hood off. Tears begin to stream down your face and your hand slaps over your mouth. A sob escapes your lips as you launch yourself at him, your arms clamping around his waist. You roughly crash your lips against his in a desperate kiss; three years' worth of stress pouring into the heated kiss. You pull away, your lips now sore and probably bruised.

"You were gone for three years," you cry, "I though the worst."

Karkat pulls you closer to his chest, burying his face in your soft hair. One of his hands trail up and down your back in a comforting manner, the other stroking yoru hair softly.

"I'm sorry." He mumbles.

"So, you're an assassin now?" you chuckle.

"Huh, yeah," he smiles, pecking your lips, "it's a long story."

"Well, your story may have to wait," you grin, "because we have some other 'catching up' to so."

You pull him back down for a heated kiss.
