Sollux x Reader

You paced through the loud and busy Arcade. The bright neon flashing lights from surrounding games hurt your eyes. For some reason, this seemed like a good idea to you, coming out late at night to play arcade games before the arcade closed for the night. It was surprisingly busy for a Wednesday, but most importantly surprisingly busy for eleven o'clock during the school term. You soon noticed that it wasn't people occupying the arcade, it was a fairly large group of trolls with very different horns and from what it seemed, personalities. You assumed they were all friends. You hoped you weren't intruding on anything and continued with your game card clutched tightly in your right hand.

A troll girl with cat ear like horns was using a claw machine, another troll with a broken horn and glasses standing beside her. The cat like troll girl seemed to be trying to win one of the Pokemon plushies hanging off of a hook. The game was obviously rigged, but she seemed determined. You couldn't blame her, the Litten she was attempting to win was pretty cute. She groaned loudly and seemed pretty upset when she yet again failed to win the toy.

"D--> Are you sure you do not want me to break the glass to receive this strange flaming meow beast you wish to win?"

":33 <  Equius! Cheating is bad, just let me try one more time, I'll get it I purromise!"

The cat girl once again attempted to maneuver the claw. When she pressed the large button, the claw just flicked the side of the Litten and missed it again.

"D--> This is f001ish Nepeta, I suggest we use your money more wisely and spend our time playing the other games."

":33 < I guess your right, but can we try again later?"

The sweaty troll who you had learnt was named Equius guided 'Nepeta' away. She seemed pretty unhappy, but instantly perked up when she noticed the bright flashing lights of a strength tester, pulling her sweaty friend over to it.

You decided you were having a lot of fun watching these trolls, they were already interesting, so instead of being creepy and staring them down from across the arcade, you should go and introduce yourself. But to who? You couldn't possibly introduce yourself to the grumpy looking troll guy with the Cancer symbol on the front of his sweater, he would without a doubt curse at you and most likely attempt to get you to go away. Nepeta seemed pretty guarded by Equius, and you doubted he would let you talk to her, so you walked over to a nice looking troll girl with the Virgo symbol on the front

"Uh, hi there!" The troll lifted her eyes from the book she was reading. She had a small reading light hanging off the side of her book. She obviously wasn't very interested in joining her other friends and playing arcade games, because she was perched at a stool by one of the game card recharging centers. She seemed very poised and elegant, probably very mature, too mature for games.

"Oh Hello There, Is There Something I Can Help You With?"

"Well, sort of I guess," You attempted to find a way to stand comfortably without coming off as aggressive. "I'm not really used to there being a lot of people here at the arcade at this time of night, are these guys your friends?"

You pointed at a troll with a blue Scorpio sign on the front of her shirt, she appeared to be teasing the girl beside her who had a teal Libra sign on the front of her own plain black shirt. The troll girl you were speaking to sighed heavily.

"Yes Indeed, I Hope They Were Not Bothering You, I Sincerely Apologize In Advance."

"Oh, no they weren't bothering me, I was just curious," You could feel the tension in the air. The troll girl was very understanding and seemed to pick up on it. She giggled a little before extending an arm out to you to shake your hand.

"I Am Kanaya Maryam," You took Kanaya's soft grey hand in your own and shaked it carefully. "Those Are Indeed My Friends, That Agitated Looking Troll Over There Is Karkat, He's Interesting To Say The Least, So Do Be Careful When Speaking With Him."

You smiled gratefully and allowed Kanaya to walk around the arcade with you, introducing you to each troll, until you met a troll with four horns. Sollux was his name, you think. He was mashing buttons on a game controller, extremely concentrated on the game he was playing. You soon noticed that was the game you had set the high score for last time you were here. Sollux cursed when his finger slipped, causing him to loose the game. Kanaya coughed to grab his attention before he could start crazily tapping buttons again.

"Sollux, This Is (Y/N)."

Sollux looked over at you through his bi-colored glasses. They almost seemed like 3D glasses to you, and yet they didn't seem to bother him.

"Hey there," Sollux thought about shaking your hand, but realized his hands were probably sweating. "2ollux, though you would already know that."

"Yeah, nice to meet you Sollux."

Kanaya placed a hand on your shoulder before letting you know she was going to leave you two alone and return to her book. She thanked you for your patience when it came to what she deemed her 'Strange' friends. You sat beside Sollux as his attention went back to the game. He swiped his game card and began to play again, not at all fazed by your presence. Your eyes wandered, you hadn't really got a good look at him yet. His hair was a jet black with two horns poking out either side. His tongue, which had found it's way between his fang like teeth, hanging out slightly as he concentrated was forked and a strange shade of mustard yellow, which matched the slight blush he was carrying and the shade of yellow his Gemini symbol was.

"So, did you beat that high score?" You laughed and swiped your own game card on the identical copy of the game beside the one Sollux was using. The only difference was the (F/C) controller you had, while his was a strange shade of pale blue, almost fading.

"Age2 ago," Sollux snickered. "Ii'm going to a22ume you were the one who got that hiigh 2core?"

"You bet," You began to mash buttons at almost the same speed as Sollux. "I used to spend days here at a time trying to beat the last one."

"Hardcore gamer huh?" Sollux laughed to himself.

"Well no," You rolled your eyes, somehow managing not to lose while doing so. "I'm assuming that by asking that question you are?"

"Yep, Ii do nothing but game and code all day."

"Sounds like the life," You smiled. "Don't you have to do a job or something?"

Sollux didn't respond, concentrating more on the screen now that he noticed you were almost beating him. He wouldn't allow himself to be distracted by you, so you turned your full focus back to the screen again. This went on for ages, despite multiple distractions from outside forces, like the loud bellowing of Karkat, the occasional input of Vriska, who was only rooting for you because you were winning and Feferi who would walk over to cheer for the both of you, followed close behind the whiny Eridan who had come to tell you he could do so much better than the both of you combined. You were going to challenge him to this game later just to prove that you were better.

Soon enough, the Arcade was closing. The manager had come out to tell you and Sollux you should probably leave, and also that all of Sollux's friends had left and now he was alone. Sollux sighed heavily, you shrugged when he looked over at you. The manager had stopped your intense battle by turning off the powerpoint that powered the games.

"I'd offer for you to come chill at my place for a while, but I'm assuming your friends would be expecting you, and I don't have any of their numbers."

"What an un2ucce22ful niight for you then."

You laughed at Sollux's joke, forcing him to smile unwillingly. He liked your laugh, it sounded almost like music, he couldn't help but smile.

"Well Ii have theiir number2, 2o iif you're okay wiith iit, Ii could probably come and chiill wiith you and Ii'll call them tomorrow."

"Sure, I'm always open for that."

----------------Timeskip because this fic is already getting super long OO:-----------------------------------

How many times has a guy been in your apartment, you asked yourself as you swung open your apartment door. You really hoped you remembered to clean before this, and luckily you did. Sollux made himself right at home on your sofa.

"Hey, you wanna watch a movie or something?"

"Yeah 2ure, a2 long a2 iit'2 not a rom-com, Karkat already make2 everyone watch tho2e all the tiime."

"Aww, what If I wanted to watch one?"

"You don't, do you?"

"Well no-"

"Good."

Sollux decided to flick through your cupboard of movies, you wanted to be old school and continue to buy things on disk rather than paying monthly for Netflix, although you did have that too. Sollux finally stopped making a mess of your organised collection and walked over to your TV, sliding the disk into your blue ray player before pressing play and making himself comfortable on the couch beside you again.

"What'd you pick?"

"You'll fiind out."

You glared at Sollux, but your stony gaze disappeared when you noticed it was Divergent, you weren't really expecting him to be into that kind of stuff, but he was.

Since you were watching the movie for the billionth time, you could feel yourself beginning to fall asleep, and soon enough your eyelids met. Sollux was startled when he felt sudden weight landing on his side but wrapped his arm around you as soon as he noticed.

"You're adorable."
