"HOW DO YOU 3XP3CT 4 BL1ND G1RL TO ROLL3R BL4D3?"

Your 'moirail' Terezi continued to complain and whine as you drove her to the rollerskating place the two of you would be meeting your friend Dave at. He said he would be bringing one of his friends too. You guessed it was kinda like a double date. Terezi and Dave had seemed to have a thing for one and other for quite a while, so you decided to drag her along with you when Dave invited you.

"I dunno," you chuckled. "I mean, I would tell you to sniff your way around, but all you'll be sniffing is sweat."

"M4YB3 YOU SHOULD H4V3 BROUGHT EQU1US 1NST34D," Terezi crossed her arms in front of her chest. "4NYON3 WHO ST4NDS 4NYWH3R3 N34R H1M 1S FORC3D TO SM3LL TH4T HORR1BL3 ST3NCH. H3'D B3 R1GHT 4T HOM3. H3H3H3."

You parked the car as Terezi cackled beside you. She continued to joke about Equius and his sweating until the two of you made it inside. The horrible smell combination you had warned her about made Terezi gag, but you were used to it.

Dave waved you over from where he was sitting. You noticed a troll beside him, he looked like he did not want to be here whatsoever. The troll beside Dave lifted his head. He stared at you for a moment, giving you an opportunity to see his sweater. You noticed a grey cancer symbol on the front of his sweater. You snorted as you noticed the resemblance. The cancer symbol always did look like a sideways 69 to you.

You noticed the small and stubby horns on the trolls head. You had seen all kinds of troll horns before, but none had been so... small. They were kind of like candy corns.

The troll you had been studying looked over at Terezi who was sniffing one of the benches like a sniffer dog searching for fresh foods in the airport. She obviously smelt some red. You watched as the troll Dave seemed to be pretty good friends with growled at the sight of your moirail.

'Sheesh, what's his problem.' You thought to yourself. You noticed Dave waving yet again, he seemed to be growing impatient. You soon realized he was holding another two pairs of skates and already had his own on.

"Hey TZ, Dave is over here." You placed a hand on Terezi's shoulder and helped her off of the bench she was sniffing. She smiled gratefully and followed behind you, sniffing the air to help with her direction.

"What took you so damn long," Dave tsked and handed you a pair of skates. "Can TZ skate?"

"Y3S."

"But you--"

"WH3N H4V3 1 3V3R L3T TH4T STOP M3."

"WOW. HOW FUCKING WONDERFUL. HURRY UP WE DON'T HAVE ALL FUCKING DAY TO WAIT FOR YOU TO PUT ON SOME GOG DAMN SKATES."

"Jesus Karkat, could you be optimistic for once?"

'So that's his name... Karkat... Interesting.' You looked over at Karkat again only to catch him staring at you. You blushed a bright red and focused your attention back on your moirail as quickly as possible, trying to avoid the awkwardness.

Dave stood up trying to look cool, but wobbled and ended up having to sit back down. He regained his composure and spoke again. "I mean think about it this way, we are going to be skating like a couple of ironic dudes for the next hour or so. We might as well enjoy sitting while our asses aren't sore enough for it to be painful."

"SO YOU KNOW YOU 4DM1T YOU'R3 GO1NG TO F4LL 4ND HURT YOUR 4SS3S TH3N?"

"Who said I was going to fall?"

"HOW TH3 FUCK 3LS3 WOULD YOU HURT YOUR 4SS?"

Dave smiled at Terezi. You screamed internally as you tied the laces on your skates.

"ARE WE ALL FUCKING READY NOW?"

You nodded, watching as Dave and Terezi did the same.

"FINALLY."

It had been at least half an hour now, and you were all still skating in the practice ring. Dave had been helping Terezi skate, making sure she didn't get seriously injured leaving you and Karkat bored and alone.

You decided you'd had enough of the practice ring and began to step as well as you possibly could in chunky skates towards the larger space. Karkat soon noticed and began to follow you. He had nothing better to do.

"WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU GOING?"

"Somewhere where I can actually skate. That ring is way too small." You grabbed onto the half wall and began to pull yourself along it for a while. Karkat eventually caught up to you and skated beside you.

After a while of just skating with your hands attached to the wall, you gained the courage to skate closer to the middle of the ring. Unfortunately, you got a little too cocky and began to skate a little too fast. You could feel yourself falling and closed your eyes, accepting your fate and preparing yourself for impact.

But right before your back could hit the ground, a pair arms surrounded you and stopped you from falling. You cracked open your eyes and stared down at the arms that saved you.

"FUCK, THAT WAS CLOSE." Karkat sighed in relief. His usual annoyed expression was gone, his face now bearing a concerned frown. He checked over you to make sure you hadn't somehow hurt yourself on the way down. "I THINK WE SHOULD TAKE A FUCKING BREAK FROM SKATING."

Karkat didn't let go of your forearm the entire way. He wanted to make sure that you didn't fall again. The two of you skated out of the ring and stepped towards one of the benches across from the practice ring where Terezi and Dave were skating.

You took off your skates and sighed in relief as your feet felt air at last. You picked up the skates and placed them on the bench beside you.

"ARE YOU SURE YOU'RE FUCKING OKAY?"

"Yeah, I'm fine," You stretched your legs out in front of you, hearing your knees crack slightly. "Just a little startled."

"IM... SORRY."

"Karkat, how was any of this at all your fault." You laughed at the idea.

"I TOOK MY EYES OFF OF YOU AND YOU FELL."

You raised an eyebrow at Karkat.

"SO I GUESS I HAVE TO KEEP THEM ON YOU AT ALL TIMES NOW," Karkat smirked slightly. "ALTHOUGH THAT WAS MY FUCKING PLAN EVEN BEFORE YOU FELL. THEY'RE KIND OF HARD TO FUCKING TAKE OFF OF YOU."

Wait... was he... flirting? You blushed intensely and looked over at Dave and Terezi, attempting to distract yourself. Karkat grabbed the side of your face gently causing your eyes to suddenly flicker back to his eyes. You noticed how close your faces were and watched as a red blush very similar to the one you were wearing took over Karkat's cheeks.

"HOW ARE YOU SO FUCKING BEAUTIFUL?"

You let your arms make their way around Karkat's neck as your lips met. Your eyes closed and your blush continued to spread as the kiss continued. Eventually the need for air forced the two of you to break the unexpected but definitely not unwanted kiss. You didn't know what you were thinking, but you just went with it. Karkat smiled a genuine smile as he caught your eyes again. He obviously felt the same way about you. 

You cursed yourself for jumping into things so quickly, you barely knew the guy, but it felt so right. Karkat placed his hand on yours, that was resting beside you on the bench you were sitting on. 

You went back to watching Terezi skate. She suddenly whipped her head around and span in a circle, sniffing the air and skating quickly towards you. She stopped beside you and sniffed your face. A very confused Dave began to skate up to your moirail. Terezi moved away from your face and sniffed Karkat's.
